Cool thanks Nick :) I wouldnt be too concerned if mine arrived a week after it was supposed to as what is in the boxes isnt urgently required - mostly household stuffs. Even arriving a week later is still a tonne faster and cheaper than shipping!

Thanks for the heads up - really appreciate it :D

How's Denver?

I'll stay optimistic for you too Jess - fingers crossed for a speedy processs

Well I'm loving that the US exchange rate is so high at the moment - I bought some today for 91 cents so I'm absolutely stoked.

As for my leave date Nick its back to the original date of 29 October with a finish work date of Tuesday 26 October. My best mate from NZ has decided she wants to see me before I go so she and my godson are coming over but they cant get here until early Oct. With there only being 3 weeks between that and the original leaving date there wasnt any point in changing all the tickets etc so I'm sucking it up - 44 sleeps to fly day

YAY good for you mate  Enjoy your first night in Denver. And let me know how your freight goes since you're my test guinea pig lol.

And today I'm thinking of Kathy who's winging her way back to Bill....hope you're having awesome travels!

I'm also wondering how much longer I can tolerate work without killing the 2 idiots :D :bonk:

So non-complaint for once.

Who else is all excited about seeing Going the Distance that's coming out soon? I can't wait, though, we're not going to be able to see it until it comes out on video since I doubt we can bring our 7 year old there :P

I saw this last night at the movies with my sister. Has some great giggle moments in it - will confess there was one part that hit a little too close to home having done the long distance thing and I teared up - my sister was horrified, kept patting my knee in sympathy

oh sweet... I thought it was 6-8wks from interview date... but if its already been 4wks... then you should be going sooner than later right?

i'm just doing dinners with mates and cleaning up the apartment now... there's really nothing else to do... hahah

also going to buy a new camera online tonight and have it shipped to mum's as an arrival present to myself :D

Awesome re camera.

I would hope so re sooner rather than later. My current ticket is booked for 29 October and the wedding 13 November and I'm terrified that I'm not going to make those dates considering their slowness - I hate being left hanging!!

Dang I wish I had your life right now - I had to move again in the weekend (my lease ran out in May so have been staying with friends) - the dog is going nuts as we're currently on a farm surrounded by ducks, chickens, rabbits etc - keep losing him in the bush

I flew business class Auckland to LAX in 2001 - was utter bliss. However in saying that it was Qantas and no way in hell I'd get on one of their planes now LMAO.

Damn straight... this time next week I'll probably be snoozing due to wake up in a couple of hours to go and pick up my stuff from the freight company.

:D :D :D

How you holding up? I'm guessing there's no way for you to check the status of the police check?

Pffft and I'll still be at work dealing with dumb people lol

Yeah I'm okay - I was really hoping to bring my flights forward to end of month and be home for Ted and Montana's birthdays on the 4th but until I get the passport and visa back nothing to be done but mutter a lot lol. And no there's no way of checking - I emailed them last week to see if they had a rough idea of how long I could be waiting but as normal no reply. Tommorow will be 4 weeks since they received the privacy form to send to NZ Police so surely it cant be much longer......

Thanks Kaye :) Yeah I know 29 October is 2 months away so still a good chance of making that flight....the depressor for me I guess is that was plan B lol - I figured with having an interview 31 August I'd have the visa back within a week and then I could bring my flights earlier - it's Ted and Montana's (his daughter's) birthday on 4 October so was hoping to get away early and be there for those after all :( Pfffft back to waiting.

Sorry to hear about your Dad but pleased you're getting all your AP ducks in a row just in case.

PS humblest apologies Kaye - my typing skills were rather crapola today and I called you Faye instead lol DOH!!!

Sorry to hear you've heard nothing Jess, I was thinking of you last week and wondering how you were getting on. Yay re a hubby visit at Xmas though, that's a lovely thing to look forward to :D

And thanks for the cheer up Nick. I'll get there just a bit overtired and a typical emo girl lol. I'll sort it in my own mind eventually and move forward from there - good luck with the car :)

Yeah I know I'll be fine as I have no police record - the problem is I dont know how long the wait is going to be - I saw a VJ thread that NZ police checks can take 6-8 weeks to be processed and then they have to get back to Oz who then have to issue the visa so now I'm thinking my 29 October fly date and 13 November wedding date arent looking so great. I dont dare book anything else until I know the visa is back underway again....so no not really a happy camper.

Part of me earlier today was ready to email them say give me back my passport and tell them where to stick it - just couldnt figure out how I was going to explain that one to Ted

Ohhhhhhhhh am sorry to hear you have a hold up over the NZ Police Clearance, but hopefully it will be sent and you will get full approval asap.. we have a hold up here submitting my AOS, Leonard put his folder with all the original documents in one of the boxes being shipped over here as he wanted to give me more room in one of his suitcases for the flight over, i kept my lever arch folder thinking i had copies of everything, have prepared my AOS, EAD and AP before we went on our honeymoon, only to find i didnt have a copy of the NOA2 approval it's in Leonard's folder, packed in a shipping box in storeage in Brisbane, as we are still waiting for Movements International to get someone else to fill the container before they ship it stateside, so we rang Vermont Service Centre only to be told we had to send in and I-864 request for copy of approved document plus a cheque for $340 i was like your kidding? You cant print one off and post it? Nope you have to submit for a copy,so sent that off two weeks ago before we left on our honeymoon, got home Saturday and found a receipt from Vermont now waiting on the replacement NOA2 before we can submit the rest of our documents.. I know its our fault, had i known Leonard put it in one of the shipping boxes i wouldve yanked it out and stuffed it in my suitcase, but it wasnt until i was packing that i found out and by that time it was way too late.. sigh..

Thanks everyone :) Yeah I'm a little upset today as I was hoping it would all be over yesterday but will email the consulate weekly until I get my passport back.

The Australian police cert was so easy to get and I got the New Zealand one based on information available on the internet. It wasnt until I returned the first of the packet 3 forms that I discovered only the consulate can apply for the check from the New Zealand Police (mine was from the Ministry of Justice) so I sent the form back straight away back to the consulate. So they received it 3 weeks ago today. Am a little surprised then the check wasnt back before the interview but then again the Ministry of Justice one took 5 weeks - so now back to waiting again :(

Back from Sydney. Approved BUT they wouldnt accept the criminal clearance I provided by the New Zealand Ministry of Justice. So pending the arrival of the clearance by the New Zealand Police then the visa will be put in my passport and sent back.

You should have seen my face drop when she gave me the refusal worksheet piece of paper :( until she explained it was approved but pending the police check.

My nerves are shot I'm doing to bed!

It can be done in 4 months time - my NOA2 was 14 July and my interview is tomorrow. The Australian police certificate only took 8 days to arrive and the medical results were one week after the testing and that was one week after booking...baby steps :)

As for the affidavit we didnt provide bank statements at all - 3 x years tax returns, a letter form his employer and the paystubs. Im not sure if non filing of taxes last year will be an issue though - one of the others will have to answer that one.

LOL no its probably not going to help matters :P Im trying to remember what my letter from the doctor said and as far as I recall it was bring your passport, 3 photos oh and the letter from NVC which has our case file number on it. Maybe that's what his doctor is referring to?
CareBearFemaleAustralia2010-08-27 18:43:00
Australia and New ZealandLAND DOWNUNDER, Aussie Aussie Aussie Oi Oi Oi
I had my medical before the packet 3 arrived (I had my case file number from the NVC) and the only thing I took to the medical were my passport, 3 passport photos, my vaccination immunity letter and a couple of things from my dr regarding previous medical issues.

The dr had generic forms at his office which he filled in. I then left his office went and did the blood and xray tests and a week later I got an envelope in the mail with medical stuff in it from him and then I sent this and the balance of other forms and items in the checklist in packet 3 back to the consulate. 10 days later I got an interview date.

LMAO Nice :) Well I have a serious attack of the giggles - I never got my engagement ring before leaving the US - we had so much to do while I was there that I was happy for him to deal with this once I'd gone.

He went shopping today and found exactly what he was looking for. Apparently the average ring size for a female in the US is 6.5 to 8.5. I however am apparently a size 12 bwahahahahahhahahaa. I shall from hereonin be referred to as little Miss Fat Fingers :P

And in other news my interview is a week tomorrow and I'm beginning to feel rather sick - can I claim the crown of being the first Australian in VJ history of being declined?????

I'm not sure if I could or couldnt - I felt with 2 flights to get back to Texas, the 13 hours to LAX and then another 3 hours to Dallas plus the 5 hour layover in between and dealing with POE etc it was easier for me to hand him over to an agent who takes care of the collection from the house and the delivery to Dallas - their quote included everything including the crate and was one stop shopping.

I know one of the other VJers recently did it with a cat where the animal travelled with her and that was around $1000 I think from memory but this way was peace of mind to me (just a massive hole in the budget) lol.

V Australia whom I'm flying Brisbane to LAX with do have a section re pets on their page but they dont accept bookings direct. However they do have a page with a list of pet handlers they recommend if thats worth looking at to get a quote.

Oh and I relooked at my quote again after answering you - its not a mandatory requirement for all states that your pet has the rabies shot but since Texas is going into a kennel for 10 days at Xmas where it is a requirement then I'll still go ahead and get it done by JetPets.

And congrats on the approved petition reaching Sydney - one step closer.

He doesnt get anything in the snail mail - all of the forms have to be downloaded online and printed out.

Sorry to read that your trip back to Oz wont be under the happiest of terms Vanessa. Dealing with the deteriorating health of a parent no matter what age is a difficult and emotionally charged thing - biggest hugs that at least time with your family and forward planning will lessen the pain should anything happen in the future.

I'm particulary mindful of the situation today myself as am having dinner with my own dad tonight after not having seen him for 2 1/2 years. He only lives in Melbourne whilst I live in QLD but life got busy and I kept putting visits off until time totally got away from me. He's here for 3 days for a real estate conference but has been battling cancer issues the last 12 months and all I can think about right now is is this the last time I'll see him. Im hopeful that he'll live forever, tough old boy that he is :)
