Great topics good.gif I'll post my experince soon.

But I have question - Is there anything your SO won't do in the house?

Damien and I share the housework. We both clean and do our own laundry. I do majority of the cooking. My daughter does the dishes. However, the first year we lived together he would get so upset when I asked him to take the trash out. I mean we would get into huge drag out fights over the trash....our neighbors knocked on the door once because we were too loud. It wasn't like I woke him up in the middle of the night to take it out or anything like that. He would simply get upset because I asked him....the nerve of me.

be right back...

Chris will do anything in the house he does not mind. He washes clothes, dishes, cooks straightens up stuff. However when he first got here he had an issue with washing our clothes together and also mention gettin his own towels/wash clothes i just laughed on that note but after we went to my moms and he saw they all wash their clothes together, he was like i guess its ok lol. I admit i did kinda get mad i said are ur clothes too good to wash with mine? So what is with the separate washing of men and womens clothes anyone know?

We had the same isssue with washing the clothes....I just laugh too. He's over it now. Thank G-d. My husband still uses that rag of a towel he brought ova from JA. I thought I threw it away but it keeps comin back mad.gif

Ladies,

??? when i go on some of the other forums, i see posts regarding the fact that american women are aggressive. have your SO commented on this? mr jengles has told me that i am aggressive, but of course i'm clueless. the only thing i can think of, is that in other places, men are used to being the sole provider, so what they say goes, here women are more independent and can do for themselves, so we don't see the need to agree with everything they say, and we can be vocal with our disagreements.
any other ideas?

AGREE...soon come wid comment

offtopic45vn.gif crying.gif sad.gif

Ok, so now the latest thing in this process...maybe this can help someone coming AFTER me!

I filed for a K-1 & K2 visas for Ken & KJ. So, Ken & KJ went for their medical today! Only to find out KJ needs a passport in order for him to do the medical! Ken & I hadn't planned on bringing KJ up with him, until we had settled in and prepared for him. We were planning to bring him up in the fall (or whenever Ken's advanced Parole was approved)

Anyway, I just called my handy dandy 202# and asked them how to proceed, She said that they will NOT issue Ken's visa without KJ's! crying.gif crying.gif ...since I filed for them together! So for sure we are going to be getting a blue slip!!! So, we have to wait on KJ's Birth Certificate...then they will say they want a DNA test & KJ's passport, before Ken can come up!

Somebody told me that the US approved DNA test can take SIX months! Mobay Hope takes the samples and send it to the US for testing.

So it's looking like maybe another 8-9 months before Ken can come up and I feel like I am going to die right now!! This is so different from what I was originally told (memba when Homegirl lost KJ's Birth Certificate) they told me that Ken's visa would be issued and we had a year to sort out KJ's blue slip and bring him!

Lord...give me strength! crying.gif crying.gif crying.gif

Thanks for listening...love you,

Gill

Gill,

Unless they changed the rules from early last year, that's what happened with one of my cousin. She filed for her fiance and his child, but the mother was giving them problems and would not allow the child to go with him to the interview. Her fiance came up and then the child follow I believe 5 or 6 months later. Maybe the rules change...mi no know...mi lawd...what a piece a rahtidclaat STRESS fi add on pon u

There were mostly familys there when we went for the interview. One guy was there with his daughter, they were asked what took so long to add his name to the birth cert., were you dead? the lady asked. So she said that that they needed DNA testing and then she gave the option for him to go ahead of his daughter to the states, or to wait to go at same time. So they approved his visa and blue slipped the daughter. I saw several like this where they only blue slip for the child and approved the mom or dad. I didnt witness any denials. So no worries Gill u KJ And Ken will be fine.

I like that site too. JALove if your hair has a tendancy to get dry I would suggest leaving in conditioner...not the leave in kind...and using it mutliple time a week, while your hair is natural. I like Motions. This will intensely soften your hair. After awhile you'll notice a difference and not need to condition it as much. Also use an oil mositurizer. The kind that has the same texture of lotion or conditioner...I use Motions which is pink just like Lusters famsous brand but just not as thick and I don't like the Lusters smell. This should help with your dryness.

it was only in that one spot i dunno why lik the very back middle close to the top. it normally curls up when wet but that part gave me drama!!! my hair is damage so maybe cut off start fresh is a great idea. I love motions conditioner and also i want to say its called diez Y uno lol dont quote me!!! they use that in the dominican shops i like that too. Im going to get some more motions. I miss MD for the hair stylist my hair always was right! its not the same here sad.gif but my guy does pretty good he cuts well and works wonders with the flat iron so it comes out super straigh if u have a perm or not. Hes a rasta and jamaican. Why does everyone assume he is gay! all men that do hair arent gay smile.gif im supposed to go tomorrow but i twisted my hair and really dont feel like sitting but i do need a good trim i havent been since october

JAH'LOVE my hair was in my back and because of stress and other issues I chopped it off. It was breaking alot and that was the best thing to do. I cut in in December to my ears and it's now grown down my chin. Don't know what it is in out family, but our hair grows like grass then it stops once it gets 1/2 way past our shoulders. Before I was stressed out and all that I went to the DOMICAN SHOPS and they took excellent care of my hair. $25.00 wash and set and blow-dry. I would go 7:30am on Saturday mornigs and be out of there by 9am. Best thing...NO APPOINTMENTS necessary. I loved it. Only thing I see with them, they don't really know how to style short hair.

Where is the Dominican shop Trelawny20853? I'm in MD and want to try them out one day...

Youre in bmore right? there is one on Baltimore st over east and then there is one right on reisterstown road past barefeet shoes called Top Dominican Salon. They have just started coming to the area

On the hair topic - have any of you tried the Garnier Fructis leave in conditioner? My hair is fine but dry (WW here), so I need a leave in - I bought that on sale to try it, and it was way heavy for my hair - I gave it to my girl, who has kinda coarse hair that she usually twists - she loves the conditioner.

Different topic - anyone have any suggestions for a meeting point at MBJ? My next trip is my first of being picked up at the airport - and of travelling by myself to JA - I am a bit of an overcompulsive planner, and trying to figure out a spot - Right now I am panicking because I have a plane ticket and that's it, lol! I know things will be fine, but makes me nervous -

are you saying a meeting point at the airport? if so by the groovy grouper out side the airport or the lil tastee patty booth.

Ladies u were all talking about hairdos yesterday a good interim hair do till u get a perm or if tryin to go natural is to twist your hair back like cornrow. Isnt it called flat twist? not sure but let that dry and it comes out really cute after u unravel it. I wear myhair like that alot when i go to JA its easier to deal with and dries fast.

I wore that for a while but let my hair loc and got tired of hubby callin me a rassta so I cut them out blush.gif hubby didn't like it at all.

Here is a question. Would my hair lock up if i have a perm or do u def have to cut it out first?

um i have plenty questions today lol here goes one more. how the ####### do u add a link to a picture in ur post i been trying to do that and its not working properly

Ok this is where I can jump in the hair convo.. Ja your hair "can" Loc with a perm... But it will take a long long time because of the perm. The permed ends will unravel. You do have a few choices

1 cut it off and start from scratch
2 have someone braid your hair in single braids and let your hair grow and trim it back every now and then
3 some shops can add dreds to your hair like extensions

I cut mine off and wore braids for about 6 months, then I wore a TWA (Tiny Winy Afro) for another 3 months then I went into Locs. I've been Loc'd for 1 year now and Lovin It luv.gif

i was trying to let the perm grow out but it got awful dry where the natural part was especially in the back middle of my head it was like tumble weed i broke down and got a perm after 4 mos of trying i think i wanna try again but to cut it all off my head to big for that lol i think i could wear the kinky twist i do like those in the interim if i do cut it off and start fresh my hair is really damaged from the blonde color i put in it so im trying to come back from that this guy at work did the add on locs they came out and his he has his own now they are coming along nicely my hair is very fine so i can see them slipping off of mine too or maybe they didnt do his right or something

I can't believe these guys come from warm temps year round to the US and enjoy the cold so. Neil does the samething!! I end up going to bed wrapped up like a mummy because he turns the heat down low and then turns on the fan blink.gif Now granted it doesn't snow here where I live.... But it does get down to low 30 sometimes 20. I brought him three coats light to heavy, he doesn't wear the heavy one at all, not even when the ground is frosted over ohmy.gif

yup... he does not wear his big hooded coat at all, says its too tall. I have the comforter on my half the bed, heat is on 60 and mind u my apt is super cold. And he barely wears a real coat just a vest and hoodie and he walks to school! its freezin out lol

Hope everyone in the northeast made it too work ok, we got hit with a surprise snowstorm, this morning. it was supposed to hit tonight, but it hit very early this morning instead and is going to last until tomorrow morning. wish these weather men could get it right at least once.

JENGS,

Please be careful. I fell this morning and ended up under my truck (don't ask). My neighbors had to pull me out. Had to go back in the house and change my clothes and I was wearing what I thought were good snow boots. My driveway is an icing ring. I'm made it to work, the streets were okay. People speeding like it was a regular day. So, be careful.

OMG, hope u are ok. i got up early this morning and shoveled. I drove like 10-15 miles/hr. the streets are BAD up here, it's supposed to turn into rain and then back to snow. it is going to be a big mess. I have to go back to the hospital this afternoon crying.gif and i think i might take the train, not even a cab, after i drop the kids off.

Hello ladies - I'm the new northerner to VJ. I live up by the Vermont border and we have ice skating rinks everywhere up here as well. Definitely tired of doing the old lady shuffle across the ice all the time. Getting hit with the storm right now. I'm am so looking forward to spring! Welcome to VJ.

...............mi have a question. Well, my co-worker have a question. What is the difference between a I-134 and I-864. My co-worker used a lawyer, her fiance is from Jamaica. She doing K-1. I was on the phone with her and the lawyer's assistance and the woman told her that she needs to pay $380.00 more once the received a bill from NVC. $80.00 for the visa and $300.00 to process the I-864? What is the I-864 for? I thought you had to file a I-134. And I thought you paid for the visa before the interview. Please correct me. She pay all this damn money and the attorney can't even talk to her or answer her e-mails. I would cuss some BBclatt if that was me. But she's a quiet lady and well...cho. I just hate to see people taken advantage of. I don't remember reading anything about I-864 when I put my packet together. Lawddd did I miss something.

Little Red Riding Hood is quicking my body with CRAMPS this month.

ok the I-864 is for the AOS unless she needs a co-sponser and sometimes the embassy will request the co-sponser fill out a I-864..that happend to me....

from what i remember and when is being done as of today she has to pay for the visa/interview ahead of time...i think it is 100.00$

i am a little confused...is she doing a k-1 or or k-3/cr-1......because i thought when you send the packet in for the K-1 you send a long the money you don't get a bill...

Lawd...now now mi worse confused. She filed K-1. So, you do have to pay for the visa for the K-1 ahead of time. They're telling her she has to pay the visa fee for the K-1 here in the US and NVC will send the receipt to the consulate in Jamaica. I don't remember reading that anywhere.

She did send the packet for the K-1 and paid $455. She's received her approval I think last month or December. She doesn't have an interview date yet. I have to ask her again. The paralegal in her attorney's office is told her she needs to pay $80.00 for the non-immigrant visa and $300 to process the I-864. And all her fiance need to do is show up with the police certificate and the approval notice and attend the interview when it's scheduled. Her fiance will not need to bring an affidavit of support, tax records, employment, etc...anything like that at the itnerview. I told her to go to the attorney's office. Does that sound right?

Dunno what they talkin about chris paid 100 for the visa at paymaster in Mobay a few days before the interview and i filled out an I134 and had it notorized.. didnt do the 864 till AOS. We did K-1 finished in October 07.

Thanks Jah'love, that's how I remember reading it. I think the fee is $131 now. She just read what you posted, now she upset. I told her to go to the attorney's office and sit there until he talks to her. They charged her $2250 to process her K-1. Mi wah know wah dem do fidat mout a money.

sounds like they are talkin about the cr1 to her they need to read up on their visa types k1 doesnt get any form of bill in the mail and i havent heard of any recent changes since the fee changes in july tell her ask before she goes paying all that money. Like you said i would go down there and talk face to face and do some research of my own online before dishing out any money. i thought 131 was for the visitor visa fee. I belive its like 132 i was just checking that for someone let me do some research u got me curious now. Be right back! lol

ok im back the fee did increse!!!

Application Fees for Non-Immigrant Visas to Increase On January 1, 2008

Effective January 1, 2008, the application fee for a U.S. non-immigrant visa will increase from $100 to $131. This increase allows the Department to recover the costs of security and other enhancements to the non-immigrant visa application process. This increase applies both to non-immigrant visas issued on machine-readable foils in passports and to border crossing cards issued to certain applicants in Mexico.

Applicants who paid the prior $100 application fee before January 1 will be processed only if they are scheduled and appear for a visa interview on or before January 31. Applicants who paid the prior $100 application fee and appear for visa interviews after January 31, 2008 must pay the difference -- $31 -- before they will be interviewed.

The Department is required by law to attempt to recover the cost of processing non-immigrant visas through the collection of the Machine-Readable Visa application fee. Because of new security-related costs, new information technology systems, and inflation, the $100 Machine-Readable Visa fee is lower than the actual cost of processing non-immigrant visas. In fact, the $100 fee was already lower than the cost of processing non-immigrant visas when the fee was reviewed as a part of the cost of service study in 2004. The Department has been absorbing the additional cost. We are now collecting 10 fingerprints from each applicant, and the cost charged by the FBI to review those fingerprints no longer allows us to do this. The application fee has increased twice since September 11, 2001, the last time in 2002.

2007/1133

Released on December 13, 2007

I miss the smell of the SEA (the salt water) as I'm driving from Mobay to Trelawny

I miss the GREENESS, FRESHNESS and purity........

I miss the rainfall and then the sunshine that follows later

I miss the smell of fry chicken and rice n peas being cooked in my grandmother's kitchen

I miss the sound of the radio and the commericals

I miss the sounds of the kids going to school

I miss the sounds of the guys playing football at the church across the street from my dad's house

I miss the street dances and the dance contest that would take place on Friday and Saturday nights

I miss hanging clothes outside at 7am and they're dried before noon (I love the SMELL of lined dried clothes)...is something wrong with me on that one?

I miss sitting on my grandmother's varenda and watching the cruise ships go by

I miss sitting on my dad's varenda and sticking my hand through the window to pick a neasberry to eat

Just did a search for u. I have tried before in some cake long ago i dont remember what kind but it was a long long time ago.

In recipes for baked goods that have a light, airy texture, replace eggs with an ... 1/4 cup of applesauce, canned pumpkin or squash, or pureed prunes check out this link also it tells u more http://www.wikihow.c...in-Your-Cooking

Hello all, I know I am late and just catching up. There is so many bad things happening to us yardies these past couple of days. We need to join hands and hearts and get down on our knees and pray to our heavenly father for some strength to be able to deal with all the strife that the devil is trying to inject in our lives.

My heart goes out to each and everyone who are experiencing grief, heartache and disappointment this week. I hope we all will be getting good news soon. We have been very happy on her for a while and the devil does not like that so he comes in like a thief in the night and is disrupting our lives.

I feel so much distress when I read all the trials that our "sisters" are going trhu. We all don't know each other persoanlly, but have bonded like a family and have been there for each other no matter what. We have to join together and show the devil that we will get through these bad times. We will always be there for each other, giving good advice and a listening ear. And for those like me who is clueless at times and do not have much to say, I feel the same rage and anger you all express. I don't want to re-invent tne wheel, so I just read and nod my head.

I hope that this week will end with some positive new..not that I am minimizing the trauma that has transpired, but I hope that things will get better for all of us. good.gif

I love you all rose.gif heart.gif rose.gif heart.gif heart.gif

Any ideas on how this will work. My friend met a guy from the Bahamas. He came as a vistor on his passport and police record to the US. I dont think they need a visa to visit the US. His family then filed for him. That is still pending over a year now. No activity on his file. So he marries my friend this past november. If she files for him does he have to go back to Bahamas? Does the old petition from his family get thrown out. Should they even file again?

I would have her find out the status of what they filed and what is pending - not sure if they can withdraw or not -

She can file for him to adjust status based on marriage - He definitely should NOT leave the country until the process is completed - See here:

http://immigration-l...ve_petition.htm

The overstay should be overlooked if the marriage is valid - my friend is from Scotland, came legally, overstayed, married a US Citizen eventually and got her green card through marriage. However, if he leaves the country before adjusting status he could end up with a bar for the overstay.

Thanks everyone for your advice i will tell her. smile.gif they met in MD she didnt know him while he was in the bahamas.
