Happy Holidays everyone. I need a bit of advice on the medical info that is to be sent for AOS. Chris did not get a TB test. I called Mobay Hope Medical Center they would not fax or let me have someone pickup his copy of the DS3025 so that i can take that to a civil surgeon to even have them transfer that info on to the I-693A supplement for vaccination. I am hearing that the TB is required for AOS? Am i correct? Mobay Hope says that that is not required by the embassy for their medical. So, should i just send the copy of this immunization certificate and his medical receipts with my AOS package or should it go to the civil surgeon and try to get them to fill out that I-693A or get another medical they want 400 somethin for that medical. sad.gif crying.gif

We just sent in a copy of the vaccination record the clinic gave Andre when he got his shots. We did not have an interview, so it never came up again. Andre did have a TB test at his medical and he went to MoBay Hope.

The lady there said that they dont randomly just test for that. Chris said he had exrays done so im guessing maybe they checked for it. I guess ill just take my chances and send in the vaccination card. I did make an apt with the civil surgeon for tomorrow just in case for filling out the I-693A that all seems quite stupid since they get all his med info in his k-1 interview papers but i read on a thread here somewhere that someone got an RFE for the TB they filed aos i want to say in june and go that RFE all the way in December stating that their med info from the embassy was not included and they wanted a complete I 693 done

Good Mornin everyone hope each and every one of you has a lovely day smile.gif ....Chris got his soc sec card right after he got here. We used the 90 work permit to be able to get it. It says with DHS authorization only and for work only. SOOO now that we have the green card, he should be able to get one that does not have that restriction on there correct?

Yes, just make sure he's not in the middle of job hunting. We applied for Damien's unrestricted SS card when he was offered a job. The SS office took restricted one so he didn't have a card for 10-14 days. Not sure all offices take the old one but ours did.

Thanks! SJB....hope ur having a good day so far....he has two jobs now and we only been here since july 2! It seemed easier in MD for him to find work but in NJ all he found was a part time.

Luckily the ss office is right by his job. I need to go too. Seems that they have the wrong name for me in the system when. I filed my taxes with my middle name and new married name and they rejected it saying they dont have me down as that. hmmmm but i have a ss card with my new name so i had to re-file with my maiden name.

Hey Everyone!

I miss you guys. Adjustment is work like all the Vets said. I'm consumed with trying to get the wedding all set for 8/30. We will be having a small ceremony at the house.

We are having so much fun. We are watching movies and taking long walks with the dog and just talking and laughing. The other stuff is also the bomb too. devil.gif

So yesterday we were talking about the air conditioner again! He said the comforter (not thick at all mind you) is too heavy and he likes to just sleep with a sheet like back home. Well, I like to sleep cold as a polar bear under the comforter. So we compromised and turned the air down to 78-79. I get up this morning sweating like I'd been running on the tread mill in my dreams. It turns out while I'm asleep Dwayne turned the air down to 85! WTH. That is heat inna di heat!

VETS, I need some advise on the cooking and introduction to American food. What did your husband's like when they first came over? I've tried meatloaf and spagetti, my fish was too garlicy, and an omelet for breakfast. He has cooked every other meal for us traditional Jamaican. I'm not complaining but there is only so much boiled dumplings and rice and peas meals I can take. I want to add variety to the menu.

I made baked chicken, corned beef and cabbage, chicken with adobo and sazon(goya brand seasoning) and some pink beans (goya), seasoned that up with some turkey bacon and more sazon. I made steak, potatoes with butter and parsley and then made cabbage with okra and frozed mixed veg and broccoli. He seemed to like all of those. oh also macaroni salad with tuna...

I read this and just wanted to CRY. Now, for those of you who PM me and told me I was NUTS to talk to the CO officer like that without receiving the APPROVAL first, please read below and tell me was all that NECESSARY; and YES, mi still MAD TO RASS!

Review on July 9, 2008:
Consulate: Nigeria

Rating: (1 / 5) Review Topic: K1 Visa

My fiance and I received our I-129F approval after 8 monthsof waiting and after going on to the visa center got transfered to the Lagos embassy. After not hearing anything about an interview date 2 months later I started emailing the Lagos consulate and inquiring about what was going on, after 2 weeks they emailed me back and told me his interview was April 30th and it was now April 17th. I believe they would have let him miss his interview without batting an eye. We had 9 days to prepare but we got past that obsticle

By the grace of God we got all the paperwork, police report and most of the medical exam done in 1 day and he kept his appointment. After waiting 5 hours they called him to the window ( how much more impersonal can they get )and before he was even sworn in the interviewing officer told him she wasn't giving him a visa. After taking his visa fee knowing she wasn't giving him his visa she proceeded to ask questions which he answered completely. She asked for his proof of our relationship which he handed her. She asked about pictures. He gave her some photo's and then proceeded to show her the scrapbook I had made of my prior trip to Lagos. She asked for the scrapbook, when it wouldn't fit through the slot she forced it, ripping it apart. She asked him where he got the book. He told her I made it, she asked where , he said America, she asked how he got it, he said my fiance sent it to me, she said where is the paperwork for the package, he said in the packet of paperwork he had just handed her and hadn't looked at, she said oh yea, I've een it. He asked her how and she said I've seen it and your still not getting a visa. She confiscated all our photo's, the scrapbook, all our cards ,letters, phone bills, text messages, emails, IM messages etc and told him he wasn't getting them back, then proceeded to tell him he was getting a denial letter and they were going to request that the USCIS revoke his I-129F approval based on not enough evidence or proof of a relationships. Our denial that day was based on someone's grudge against anyone having a relationship with any kind of age difference between them and just down right nastiness and disrespect.

It is sad that we have these kind of Americans representing us in foreign countries because they are the ones who give Americans a bad name. I am ashamed of the way some of my fellow Americans behave. I don't blame other countries for looking down on us, I just hope they know that just because there are a few bad apples doesn't make the whole bunch rotten, Oh yea the same way we should view citizens of other countries, just because they have a few bad apples doesn't make the whole tree bad. The way the Lagos consulate treats the Nigerian people is disgusting and they should be ashamed. What goes around comes around eventually, Gos is watching

wow that was mean if the pics didnt fit all the CO had to do was ask him to take them out of the book. Thats crazy. When some folks have some form of power they use it the wrong way.

I think most airlines will take the baby at 7 days old.

I would wait probably a month or two.

I will check with the Dr..... I would like to take the baby to Jamaica but i was wondering when is too soon or not. I would guess it would depend on what vaccinations they have maybe....

Jengles....from what I understand now, the total fee for AOS of the K-1 includes the EAD, AP, and AOS. 3 forms with supporting evidence, processed seperately; but sent in together with the one fee. If you decide to only do AOS, you still pay the same fee.

Yeah, that's right Kel. The fee for AOS is $1010 whether u file the EAD and AP with it or not. Some people wait to send off the EAD and AP paperwork till after they get a receipt notice (I-797) from their AOS packet but while ur already paying the fee....u might as well "apply" for all 3 documents at one time.

U can still apply for the SS# regardless if u got the JFK work stamp or not. He just can't work until you've gotten married and he has his EAD.

Since we're on the topic.....LOL.....DAVE STARTED HIS NEW JOB TODAY!!!!!!! kicking.gif kicking.gif He got his SS# last friday and applied at a bunch of places this week, thinking he'd be lucky to get anything with the JFK work stamp. One of the larger grocery store chains called him in yesterday for an interview and he started today! kicking.gif

Congrats to Dave!! That's great news.

Ditto Ton-Ton!! So happy to hear!! good.gif Tell em 'good luck' han knock em dead...Show dem ow wi 'Yardies' do!!

Gill

That's right Gill, I told dave just do his best and enjoy the experience. The store manager hired him for customer service/ warehouse crew but he's already training him for some of the other departments next week. If nothing else, atleast he'll gain experience and get references if he moves onto another job.

I hope things are going well at Ken's job too! It's because of you two that me and dave even went the JFK route, and it worked out. LOLLLLL

T

Dave is movin right along smile.gif congrats Tonisha....Sorry i been MIA....

blink.gif man, some of the things I hear about how men deal with women make me think Jamaica the next Saudi Arabia. Sometimes its pure foolishness that people to this day still have this notion that women are dirty or whatever just beacuse they were born woman.

as if our under wear is any more dirty than theirs...

I agree. That's why I asked if he also applied for men??? Maybe I don't want his dirty drawers with mine mad.gif .

There's always a double standard. Damien and I talked about this all the time. I think his problem is that he lived with 4 men and his mother was in and out of his life so he didnt know what is like to live with a woman. He learned quickly...living with my daughter and I....we drive him wacko.gif .

You know I think alot of these men have no real idea what really goes on with a woman for this very reason. The crazy notions I hear sometimes are ridiculous. You know i was researching muslim and rastafarian religions, and some JA Christian standards...why are many of them the same?! helpsmilie.gif EVERYONE put a lower standard on the woman. She was considered "dirty' at many times of her life and during the month, was banned from certain priviledges or duties, made to cover certain "dirty' parts of her body, could not speak in church....I was amazed at the similarites, especially being 3 different religious practices.

one more thing to add i dont see how there could be an issue with woman underwear in the wash or anywhere as they dont have a problem touchin body parts that go in those dirty undies lol now do they ha!

I also get work shoes from payless or I go to foot print..don't know if u guys know about it..there is one is Jersey that has the best selections especially for work or out

I mostly buy work shoes. I bought one pair for $115 and it has gone 6 months without looking worn. I love a good bargain lik the next person and always look for sales. I have problem finding me size though (10W or 11M). Sometimes ehn I find them they look so ugly. It's like when they make shoe and clothes for "big" women, they have to make them ugly or you have to pay a ton to get the really good looking ones.I buy at payless, because they do make good leather sandals for the summer. good.gif

Great topics good.gif I'll post my experince soon.

But I have question - Is there anything your SO won't do in the house?

Damien and I share the housework. We both clean and do our own laundry. I do majority of the cooking. My daughter does the dishes. However, the first year we lived together he would get so upset when I asked him to take the trash out. I mean we would get into huge drag out fights over the trash....our neighbors knocked on the door once because we were too loud. It wasn't like I woke him up in the middle of the night to take it out or anything like that. He would simply get upset because I asked him....the nerve of me.

be right back...

Chris will do anything in the house he does not mind. He washes clothes, dishes, cooks straightens up stuff. However when he first got here he had an issue with washing our clothes together and also mention gettin his own towels/wash clothes i just laughed on that note but after we went to my moms and he saw they all wash their clothes together, he was like i guess its ok lol. I admit i did kinda get mad i said are ur clothes too good to wash with mine? So what is with the separate washing of men and womens clothes anyone know?

We had the same isssue with washing the clothes....I just laugh too. He's over it now. Thank G-d. My husband still uses that rag of a towel he brought ova from JA. I thought I threw it away but it keeps comin back mad.gif

lol thats cute. lol...i remember havin this baby blanket i could not part with i wonder where it is lol it had clowns on speakin of babies im havin one im 6 weeks and 2 days ! pray for me guys i got those fibroids but dr said that good thing they are on the outside of my uterus but i have 3 big ones. Did any of u have the genetic testing to see if there are any deffects? Dr says cuz of my age theres a chance it could have deffects sad.gif

ahhaayeah yeah Gill sorry she told smile.gif ..welcome to the club...what's ur due date Kim ? if u no mind how old u be so ? i didn't have any testing done with Kimora and Dr ask mi same ting again fi dis one and mi a ponder....i'll proly only do the down syndrome test

Im 38... Due date is supposed to be oct 18... ok today i got bad news boss says i cant move to tx unless i find a tx person to swap places with me so here i go bawling at work all these thoughts come to my head of how in the ####### im do this all one bedroom apt, 1565 a month one car chris no license we broke live paycheck to paycheck oh boy what im do i jsut see more expenses coming our way will need another car/insurance/75 bucks for another parkin space i know ead will soon come we did biometrics today but wow and if we move to cheaper place in jersey no guarantee what that place will be like the cheaper places i have looked at i would sleep wid one eye open i just ready to go i want a nice settle environment. I cant afford a home here!!! calgon take me awaaayyyyy....
