I just went to go apply for marriage license & was told I have to make an appointment first, so I said ok. Next available appointment is May 6th; it takes 3 days to recieve it & I'm not sure how long it takes to get an appt get married in court. The church ceremony isn't looking good because no pastor wants to marry me without pre'marital counseling, which takes 3-6 months.. Sooo, hopefully I'm not screwed.

Kayla: I printed the papers for AOS as well and it's CRAZY!

Wow...our marriage certificates can be gotten the same day.

Why dont you call the county clerks office and tell them that you need a justice of the peace to come and marry you at a church. That`s what we`re doing, and we`re only paying the guy $50. His family is catholic and mine is christian so we didn`t even want to have to worry about offending someone.

Or see if you can find a non-denominational person in your area to do it.

Unity Sand Ceremony? I've never heard of it??

oh Seb.. I am so glad shes going to be there soon. 8 months is far too long to be away from your love. Good job on preparing the love nest for her arrival though!!

Instead of having the two candles that you both use to light the center candle with together(two flames making one flame, like the two of you making one love, one marriage), you can do the unity sand. You would have two smaller vases with sand(can be different colored), and then you would both pour it into the bigger vase at the same time.

Since we`re having an outdoor wedding it works better and I just like the idea of having something that we can keep.

This is a cute way to do it

Or actually, now that I think about it, Tempura Paint would work better than food coloring.

OMG, so how did the door get open?

Great idea for the glitter. I'm on it.

I looked up the sand and vase and they want ridiculas prices for colored sand. Where did you get yours?

OK, it's hard to talk wedding after reading your last post.

Are you ok?

I`m perfectly fine. His apartment is so tiny it only took about 30 seconds for me to know there was no one in here. I got a hold of Mathew and I feel better now. No worries.

I got my sand from hobby stores. I think it was like $3 a pound. If it`s easier to find just regular sand then you can color your own using water, sand, and food coloring. You just put the sand in a cup or bowl, put enough water just to cover the sand and then add food coloring and let it sit until you get the color you want.

Walmart should have some different sized vases in the craft aisle. That`s where we got ours.

And of course Mathew is in the lab and I can`t get a hold of him. :(

I like glitter for fairy dust. You could also mix the glitter in with some really fine sand to make a more dusty glittery effect.

Are you planning on doing any kind of unity candle ceremony? I know we all had this discussion before but I didn`t know what you would think about it. The unity sand ceremony would be really really lovely. It would symbolize their lives joining together(never having to be apart again), and it would be something they could keep.

Aww, I`m glad that Jenn is having a great time with Fuat. They`ve probably christened the whole house by now. ;)

One less worry, Maggie!!!Not too much longer and you`ll be able to say you can drop the worry of not being approved because we all know you`re going to be!

Mathew is a very unhappy camper this morning. I bought him Final Fantasy XIII for the PS3 and after he played about 6 hours total, the game froze. Well he just turned it off and we ate dinner. After dinner he started to work on school so I went to play and now the PS3 plays NOTHING. We googled it and apparently it`s been a problem with the old PS3`s and newer games. Sony was no help. All they could say was it`s out of warranty and that even though there have been countless of things said about the problems and countless calls that until thousands and thousands of people called in to them they wouldn`t acknowledge it. So he can either pay $150 to get it fixed and have it break again or he can pay $299 for a newer model that doesn`t have the problem. I have a feeling we`ll be going to best buy when he gets home from work.

But we DID get a start on our invitations last night. I put them all together now we just need to address them and drop them in the mail!

Seriously, I`ve seen your pictures. If you only took those there would be no doubt in the CO`s mind that you`re an amazing couple. :luv:

You`re gonna nail it! Just remember, left side of the door. Get there early and perch yourself on the left. You`ll be in and out in no time!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsSeptember 2009 K-1 Visa Filers

Okay. I feel a little bit more secure now. We don't have any phone bills or anything from before (I have a few since I switched to AT&T, but that's it.) but we do have a lot of pictures from our engagement shoot, and some boarding passes and the horribly faded copy of our engagement ring receipt, so hopefully we'll be okay. My mom keeps telling me "You know, they're going to take one look at the way you two look at each other and they're going to know you aren't lying, so QUIT. WORRYING. You two are MEANT to be together, and they are going to approve you so quickly!" ... Maybe I should listen, eh? LOL!

Luckily, I'm not sending him into the lion's den alone. I'm the USC, so it's become a scramble to get everything ready to go in 3 weeks so I can head up there early to gather the various stuff we need from up there. This process is so crazy... I think we all need a huge vacation, LOL!

I kind of held Mathews hand the whole time that we were in the room together and the CO smiled when he saw that. I really honestly think that there is no better evidence of a relationship than the USC attending the interview, but when that can`t happen it doesn`t mean it`s the end of the world. Pictures, boarding passes, anything that really shows you being together is evidence. This isn`t a terribly difficult consulate. Now that`s it`s over with I realize that all of my freaking out and stressing was for nothing, really. The interview seriously lasted less than 10 minutes.

But of course when we left the room and shut the door I started jumping up and down and some couples who saw me do it gave us lots of smiles and thumbs up.

Everything is gonna be great.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsSeptember 2009 K-1 Visa Filers

Kayla, first off... GRATS ON GETTING APPROVED -- though we knew you would!!!!!

And a smallish question: what kinds of relationship proof did you take? All we really have is a couple cards and such. I can't seem to get the stupid phone bills from US Cellular before I moved up to Canada for school. GRR. Also - did you make photocopies of stuff, or just put the original in or both or...

Uh oh. I think I might just have a cow now. What if we don't have enough proof? I know they didn't look at yours... but knowing our luck, they'd look at ours. :( I've had the same nightmare over and over: we take in what we have, and they rifle through it, ask "Is this all? It's not very much, is it..." and then deny us. I can't tell you how many nights I've woken up to that nightmare... :(

I just took some boarding passes, phone bills(included in the initial filling), credit card statements(also included), and that was it. But then I had made a love book with like pictures, boarding passes, wedding invitations, etc. included. Everything that I sent in initially was photocopies, but I also brought the originals with me to the interview. Whatever you give them, they will send back to you in your xpresspost mailer.

Maybe they would have asked for the evidence if I hadn`t been there with Mathew. I don`t know. I don`t think that they require much, but they want you to be honest.

I really don`t think they`d deny you for not having enough evidence. If they were going to do that, it would have already happened. They pretty much know if they will approve or deny you before you even go in to your interview, so I really wouldn`t be worried. Just bring what you have, and be sure to answer honestly and with confidence. Picture them in their underwear if it makes you feel better.

I am so happy for you both! I knew it would happen!! Thanks for all the extra details too!!! It's going to help me out.. especially since I have to go alone..

It`ll be easy Maggie. I would recommend getting an folio binder thing because it really did make it easier when she was asking for our documents. The only thing she asked for from us was his passport, the mailer, birth certificate and copy, medical results without the x-ray, police report, the I-134, and my updated letter of intent to marry. Everything else we kept.

The guy that interviewed us never even asked for anything at all. He already had what he needed.

Congrats to you both!!! That seemed easy enough.

Who is next to have their interview? Maggie?

Yep, as far as I`m aware, Maggie is next!

I guess you never got my text, Krystle. But....we were approved!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We got there at around 6:45 this morning and Mathew decided to let me out so he could go park and I could go ahead and get in line. Well that would have worked out, except for the fact that he dropped me off ON THE WRONG STREET!!! There`s 2 canada tax buildings right next to each other and he dropped me off at the wrong one so I had to walk in the freezing cold and rain to the right one.

By the time we actually got there we were still the first in line, but I realized that I had my iPhone still so of course I had to make Mathew take it back to the car(good thing because there`s some parking on that same street. We paid $15 for the whole day). Then other people started to show up. It was seriously so cold that we were all huddled underneath the doorway, trying to stay dry and get protection from the wind. I started to get aggrivated though because it was like there wasn`t really a line since we were all huddled together, which would have made our efforts to get there early useless. Lucky for me, an hour later when they opened the doors(around 7:30!) we were standing on the left side(Remember this Maggie!!!) and that`s the side they want you to go in on so after we were shooed away like pests, Mathew and I were still the first ones in and got the A. The nice couple that came right after us squeezed in and got B, so I was happy for them.

Security wasn`t too bad, we just put our stuff in boxes, and walked through the metal detector. The guard told us to walk down the stairs and sit in the waiting room and someone would be there in a second to get us. About 2 minutes later the guard come to get us and we rode the elevator to the floor where everything goes down and we waited until we were called. The lady at Window 11 ways super nice! She even made a copy of his birth certificate, which we didn`t have. We only brought the originals. She gave us some kind of slip and told us to go pay and then wait some more. By the time we paid she was calling us back to window 11 to take his fingerprints, and then she told us to go back and wait and we`d be called to room 7 or 8 to do our interveiw.

The waiting felt like hours. We were both so nervous and just watched the room keep getting full while we were holding hands. In all actuality I think it must have been about 10 minutes before we got called back to the room but it felt like an hour. When we were called back we took deep breaths and walked in the room. We were instructed to put our things on the chair and raise our hands to swear that everything was true, and we did.

The CO only asked us like 6 questions. He never looked at our evidence, never looked at the love book(damn!), never even looked through the forms really(I assume they do this before hand and already know whether you are approved or denied). He asked Mathew what he did for a living(Aerospace Engineer), asked him how we met(internet), asked him who proposed and how(him at the lake), asked when our wedding date was(June 26th), asked why he would leave Canada when he had such a good job(DUH!), and then asked me what I did in the US(AT&T). After that he took Mathew`s thumb print again, and then told us "Based on the information you have provided today I can go ahead and tell you that your visa has been approved. Congrats to you both and Welcome to the United States"!!!

After that pretty much everything is a blur. We were out by 8:50. Then it was breakfast time at Cora`s and home for a nap!!!!

I`m so happy!!!

And Maggie they didn`t say ANYTHING about leaving intend or do not intend checked!

:luv: :luv: :luv: :luv: :luv: :luv:

Lol, and sorry it took me so long to post. I thought Krystle would have gotten my text(I may have turned my phone off too soon), and when we got home we literally passed out and didn`t wait up until about 4:15.

Mathew and I plan on being there before the doors open. Like at 6:30ish. We don`t care how long we have to wait, or how cold it is, because I brought Hot Hands and theres a Tim Hortons right around the block. :).

We went and scoped the place out. Maggie, I`ll just tell you this. It`s in a teeny teeny alley like thing that I would be scared to walk in by myself. But it`s part of the Canada Tax building, so if you see that, then the consulate is right around the corner. I`ll post the picture that I took in a bit. We kept looking for 1115 St-Alexandre, but it`s actually 1155 St-Alexandre, so try not to get yourself mixed up.

I`m off to cook my honey some steak, play final fantasy XIII with him a bit and then off to bed! We got a long day tomorrow, and then dinner at Baton Rouge tomorrow night, hopefully in celebration!!!!!

Maggie I had asked this question in a different thread, and apparently a lot of people from Canada didn`t check anything and did it just like in the example and it was fine. I`ll let you know how it goes tomorrow because we did it just like the example.

According to some folks on VJ, the only people who have problems with that question are folks from hard consulates. Those are the ones who get grilled about their answers. But again, I`ll let you know tomorrow.

We`re getting ready to go and check out the consulate. I`ll post a picture of it when I get back so that you can see Maggie.

I know you didn't. That's why it ticks me off so bad when there's tons of people swarming in to tell you basically that you need to suck it up. Patience might be the name of the game, but it still doesn't change the fact that this is a stressful situation. Flashing your "I've been waiting so-and-so many months longer than you!" card isn't going to make ANYONE get approved faster(and I'm not talking about you, I'm talking about people who post like that in general). It's just going to cause hurt feelings and make some posters feel like they shouldn't post at all. That's just not right.

In a perfect world this would go in order. Everyone would get approved in the order it came in. I wish it were like that. But it's not. We should all be supportive and be the shoulder to lean on for those who are getting frustrated, not be the first ones in line to tell them to suck it up because it's going to be a longer wait.

And in case everyone has forgotten, we're all in this TOGETHER. So how about a little support from everyone FOR everyone?

I think it's really not fair how some people are acting on here. Everyone has been in this stressing/worrying stage but just because some people have been here waiting a while they think they have the right to make someone else feel like they're stupid for wanting this to hurry and get over with. Everyone needs to get approved but I don't think it's nice or fair to tell someone that they should not be checking/excited/worried just because they haven't been waiting forever.

Past dates are already allowed, as I said.
The only change I propose is to limit the date upon which
the timeline could be updated for a given action to
the current date + 1 day to allow for time-zone differences.

Past dates would still be allowed, but if someone wanted
to enter a date that was the current server date +2 or greater,
that would be rejected.

The current date +1 would be reasonable because there could
be no time zone difference greater than one day.

And I acknowledged that, which was what that whole post was about. Not sure if you understood it correctly.

But if you were to do this thing, would it allow you to enter past dates? My guess probably not. It would have to be +/-2 days and that`s it. But of course, I know nothing in this area is just seems that way to me. But then if someone were to get their NOA2 while they were on vacation and couldn`t get to a computer for a week or more, then they`d be locked out and not able to update their timeline.

But I agree wholeheartedly. It`s so annoying I can`t stand it when I see a future dated timeline. I may have gotten my NOA2, but Igor`s List needs to be cleaned up big time.

Yes, you will have to refile.

I reread your initial post and even if they had let you bypass the 2 year requirement I honestly don't think you'd have enough evidence to prove that you're in a bonafide relationship. I would at least get one more trip in before you re-file. Take a lot of pictures, keep your boarding passes, hotel receipts, etc.

When I go Canada I always look at my receipts and if on the bottom it has my name where I've used my visa, I keep it. It either means that a.) I've been there or b.) someone has stolen my debit card and given the receipts back to me for their purchases. smile.gif
