CanadaFamily driving across the border to attend wedding
I'm interested to hear what others have to say on this as well. Mathew has a ton of family members that are planning to attend our wedding in June. It'd be awful for them to drive all the way to the border from Rouyn-Noranda and get denied. :(

CanadaShow of hands...
Oh I'm so excited for everyone.

I know it's a long stretch to hope since these have all been CR-1s, but I'm gonna be waiting by the phone when DOS opens on Monday morning. You know, just in case, lol. First call will be from mehhhh.

And ps - in our four years together, I've never heard my husband fart. Only when he's on the toilet. And he won't let me open the bathroom door when he or I are going #1 or #2. I find this behavior all very old school and odd. But then again, I kinda like this "gentlemen don't fart in front of their wives" thing. Keeps the romance alive. Haha. :D

Totally funny story about that, actually...

The first couple of times Mathew came down here our food just destroyed his tummy. So we were getting ready to go to bed one night and he walked into another room and as he's walking through the hallway he pooted and it was so loud I burst out laughing. His face was SOOOO red when he got back in the bedroom because he was embarrassed and didn't think I'd hear it.

I honestly never thought anything of it because I know he didn't mean to, his tummy was upset. Those things happen. And even if he did mean it, meh...I'm not the kind of girl who cares. As long as it's not in public. :)

That is the EXACT reason I stopped posting in there. No worries, though. You definitely won't get blasted from me, because I tend to stay away from it now, too. There's just way too much negativity. (Not to mention.. I feel bad that there are still people waiting for NOA2...)

Other than that, I'll help a bit in the K1 forum, and I've ventured into the September Filers/VSC-Overtaken forum post (hahaha) but I'm here mostly. I like you guys and girls. I want to bake you all cookies for putting up with my silly questions for the last few months, lol.

Awww. I just think that you're a sweetheart. It doesn't both us a bit in the VSC taken over forum to help out people. We cheer for everyone equally, and get frustrated when others are frustrated. We've offered to send fingers and toes to USCIS/NVC/and Consulates since day one.

I just think it's a shame that other posters are sometimes made to feel bad for feeling happy that their journey is one step closer to an end. Shouldn't we all be happy for everyone?? I think so.

I go to the September VSC K-1 filers thread in the K-1 forum. Other than that, I'm hereeee.

I usually try and stay off the CSC September thread since a lot of them are so negative and mean to each other when one gets a step ahead. I don't think that's right or fair. One of them cruises the Canada forums so I'm sure I'll get blasted for saying that, but it's the honest to gods truth.

OMFG, of all the songs of theirs, you had to pick that one? That is the one that I hated by far the most. The one where they tried to act like they were toughguys, and one of them tried to even rap. FFS, i've got that chorus going in my head now. <_<

You've got the right stuff, baybeeehhh. :P

I mean, I'm pretty upset to admit this into public, but I really really really really love LFO.

It's pretty funny because when I was in high school I was one of those doom and gloom metal girls, but then I'd get home and hear LFO and burst out into song and dance, LOL.

Yea me too... but they either sound too much like queen or too much like radiohead...

Just sayin. :P

I like muse don't get me wrong... they just always sound a lot like those two bands. Which is funny because I don't really like radiohead... but I like muse - go figure. Well I would say muse is more hard than radiohead... mmkay I'm rambling.

Radiohead makes me want to gag myself with a spoon.

But I totally get what you're sayin' about the mixture of the two. Somehow it works.

Ensiferum, Tyr, Nightwish, etc. They're more or less in the Viking Metal Genre.
Mindless Self Indulgence. I dont suggest looking them up unless you don't mind songs about random #######
And some random Japanese songs.

Gonna go ahead and second that.

But then I've got a bunch of 70's/80's music on there.

And I'm a sucker for Rhett Miller. Like seriously.

I plan on going with Mathew to his Interview. I figure theres no better evidence of a relationship than me being there. Plus, I don't think he wants to carry our love book since it's got pink sparkly letters on it. Someone's gotta do it.

oh and BTW..LOL

The k1's were scheduled on Friday too :) We were told the p4 letter was mailed on on Friday.

:D

I had a feeling about that on friday. When I read the interview thread I tried to call, but it was 5:08. :(

CanadaDon't believe my lawyer

Does getting a K-1 visa involve an interview where I have to go to either montreal or vancouver before I get teh visa?

So does the CR-1, although I think they only do interviews in Montreal. They aren't going to give you a visa without an interview.

Fire that lawyer. He/she is going to get you in big trouble and possibly a ban if you get caught.

CanadaK-1 petition expiring, is that a problem?

We're in the exact same situation with our K-1. Also in Montreal. Also Feb 1 expiration. Also submitted on Nov 23 (small world, eh?). Glad to know everything is OK. We would really like to get married on March 12th, since we have a week off after that for our honeymoon. But we need to get that letter soon if that's going to happen.

Let us know when you get your letter and we'll do the same with ours,

R&R

Do you have your interview date yet??? They just recently scheduled a ton of people for March. I'm going to assume they're done with March scheduling so if your interview date hasn't been set yet you're probably looking at April before you'll have an interview.

CanadaHow close/far away are/were you from your American/Canadian significant other?

Bwahahahahaaa  John thinks he is the MSU good luck charm, as we were at the MSU v UM football game and we wholloped them! w00t!

I just like to watch football more than basketball I guess. I will start watching basketball as we get close to the playoffs/tournaments. I would be shocked if MSU doesn't make it again this year ... all the way to the Final Four baby! Maybe we'll be matched up against UK B-)

The Final Four has UK's name written all over it this year.

I just hope Obama don't call them again. They raised over a million dollars for Haiti, and the day he called them to congratulate them, they lost. Now HE'S a bad luck charm! I guess they were still are nervous from having talked to the president that they forgot how to play basketball.

Yep, it's penal code 415 - Disturbing the peace/mutual combat :jest:

Just remember, it doesn't matter how you mix it, blue and "maze" always make GREEN! GO GREEN!

Gosh, Kayla ... I am so sorry!

Personally, I would take football over basketball any day :)

LOL, then you've never seen UK's football team. I mean, they're alright, but compared to the greatness that is our basketball team(especially this year), they aint got nothin on them Cats!!!

However, since we lost BOTH games Mathew attended, "the canadian" is not allowed to go to any more of them. My family takes this verrry seriously,
Kayla*MathewFemaleCanada2010-02-03 14:00:00
CanadaHow close/far away are/were you from your American/Canadian significant other?

My fiance used to live in Ypsilanti(not that great of an area).

One of my very best friends was from there. She got killed in a car accident last August while Mathew was visiting me.

I remember the first time she told me where she was from when she moved down here to be with her aunt. I was all like "whaaaa? You live WHEREE?" It just sounded like such an odd name for a place. And then she spelled it. Someone must have been under the influence of something when they named that town.

The first time Mathew ever visited me we went to both a UK football and a UK basketball game. You can't be a Kentuckian unless you're insane over UK basketball. Football, meh. Take it or leave it. But he wears his UK shirt a lot when he goes to class. He says that people kept looking at him weird for a while when he wore it. I guess they were wondering why in the world he was wearing that, LOL.

ChinaFamily visa for China

Ya, there was a huge change-up with visa designations this year, and qualifications for getting a visa.

Houston info (which should be exactly the same as Chicago)

http://houston.china...vp/t1070951.htm

http://houston.china...vp/t1070951.htm

http://houston.china...vp/t1070951.htm

Thanks Darnell, these links provided a bit more info too!

I forgot to mention that when we spoke with the consulate in Chicago today, they said we would need an S2 visa...  But after looking into it further it seems that a Q visa would be more appropriate.

The S visa is for those planning to visit a relative that is a foreigner residing in China, the Q visa is for a relative wanting to visit a Chinese who is residing in China.

(Organizer hat off)

Don't know which PRC embassy or consulate in your area would be able to provide information. Suggest that you Google for contact information and then contact the closest PRC embassy or consulate to you for Chinese visa information.

http://www.chinacons...hicago.org/eng/

Good luck and have a good trip with your new baobao.

We did call the consulate in Chicago, they said it's possible and all the info is on their website.

But the website doesn't have current info.  Everything on it is pretty outdated.  It's possible to find the visa application on the site, but no details about who qualifies, how long of visa is possible, etc...

When talking with people at the consulates it really comes down to who you talk with and what mood they are in, so hearing about the outcome of others that were in the same spot would be great.

ChinaFamily visa for China

Hello,

Visajourney has been a great site and helped us out so much already with getting my wife's green card!

Soon we will have our first baby and then need to go back to China to visit with family.

Wanted to see if any Chinese or a spouse of a Chinese can help out.  I currently have a Chinese visa/resident permit for visiting family and it is set to expire in November.  We will not be back to China before it expires, which means I need to get a new visa before we go.

Does anyone know if it is possible to get a family visa for China outside of China?  I just don't want to spend money on a single entry tourist visa, or one that expires after only a few months.

I have been living in China for six years and have 4-5 resident permits during that time, so I think it should be easy, but not sure if possible or how to go about it.

Any advice would be appreciated!

Thanks  :)
