WOW....that was fast....congrats!! I sent my AOS in at the end of May. It is coming up 3 months now and I still haven't recieved an appointment letter. I am starting to get really p#*@ed off!!! We are starting to get quite stressed financially, and now that I am almost 6 months pregnant I really have no hope in hell of getting a job, so we could really use at least the money I would get from EI. I have had to take a big chunk out of our retirement savings to help pay the bills, and we are just about to the end of that. And with a baby on the way and all the things we need to get for her. It is not like I will be able to count on any shower gifts to help us out. Most of my "friends" from canada haven't even sent me an e-mail congratulating me, I have no friends here, all my family is back in Canada, and hubby's family keeps asking us to help them out financially. The whole processing time is supposed to be 3 months....at this rate I will be lucky to have mine by the 5 month point.....FRIG!!

I know I can't wait for Mathew to have his EAD. The wedding pretty much wiped us out. Add to that that I've got a 300 car payment every month, car insurance, and $220 health insurance to pay for we're screwed with only one of us working. Oh, yeah, and I'm only PART TIME. He has some savings from when he was working in Canada but we've pretty much blown through that. :( At least we still live with my mom until he can get a job. I'd hate to have to pay rent on top of all of that. We'd probably be living out of a card board box.

I know he'll make great money once he's got his EAD, but knowing that doesn't help our situation right now.

Booh! Hurry up EADs! We all need them quickly!

But you know a lot of small-mediumish things are just as bad as one big thing. I hate hate hate having any kind of road block so I tend to get super grumpy when things don't go like I planned. So I guess that means I've been grumpy for about a year now, lol.

Just got the email that our case under RFE response review. Now hopefully they wont need anything else.

But knowing my luck they'll have lost his medical, too and we'll get another RFE for that. I hope not, but with as many medicals as they've been losing lately for Canadians I'm expecting it.

ashen, it sucks so bad that it seems like they are continually screwing you over. :(

Wow, that sucks about the tags. KY was very easy to deal with about it. We told the inspector that his car was in Kilometers and he was like "'bout how many miles ya think that is? We'll just put that!" and he did. Then we went back to the DMV and got everything taken care of. That's not to say we didn't have ANY trouble, because me and the DMV lady got into a screaming match the first time we went because she didn't think my husband was good enough to have his car tagged since he was an immigrant. Of course she didn't say that but her sneer and the way she acted when I told her it was a Canadian car needing to be tagged and registered and that my husband was here on a visa and therefor didn't have a SSN yet you could just tell. I just LOOOVVVEEDDD it when she told me that she couldn't do it without an SSN and when I practically forced her to call Frankfort(the main office) I heard them tell her "uhh yeah, he's from a Geneva Compact country you just need....". After she hung up the phone she acted like they didn't tell her anything useful and threw his papers at me and screamed for the next person.

Needless to say I called and complained.

The RFE response was delivered today. I can only wonder what they're going to lose next.

I don't know what they're doing over there but whatever it is, it aint work. I know it cost me a relatively short amount of time compared to other people, but losing something that should be in the file is unacceptable. I could understand if it were something I legitimately forgot to do, but it isn't. It's something that was already there. And the lost medicals are even worse. Those are things that leave our hands at the interview and are with them from there on out. If they get lost or are not in the file that's because one of their monkeys LOST IT. It's totally unfair to make us re-pay for a medical that they lost. At the very least it should be reimbursed or done free of charge since it was their error.

But of course, it's them we're talking about. Nothing ever goes the way it's supposed to.

Well, we got it today. And I'm absolutely LIVID. It's all for things I submitted!! They just lost the stuff!

Basically it's for the ENTIRE I-864 and I-864A package(which was clipped together with a black acco fastener). They want it all. I KNOW I included it in that package, because the day I sent it out I had to go to moms office and have her sign her portion, then I put it in the envelope and sealed it.

Whatever. Tomorrow I'm overnighting the I-864/864A, tax returns for 2009 for the both of us including w-2s, PLUS the tax transcripts. Try and RFE me again over the same thing and we're gonna roll, USCIS. :ranting:
Kayla*MathewFemaleCanada2010-08-09 20:52:00
CanadaAOS'rs...

Did you maybe forget to sign something?

Nope. I triple checked everything. I didn't want to lose time by getting an RFE so even at the last minute when I was getting ready to send it off I made sure I had signed everything and had included everything requested. I mean, of course there's ALWAYS a small chance that someone would over look something but I honestly don't think that was it.

I guess we'll know when it gets here, but dang, it's so annoying.
Kayla*MathewFemaleCanada2010-08-06 19:40:00
CanadaAOS'rs...
I'm going to bet they probably lost his medical. I sent in EVERYTHING else they asked for and double an even triple checked it. I included a note on the cover page saying that I was sending his vaccination supplement because his medical was completed on Jan 5th and that it would be in the packet handed over at POE.

I mean really, that's the only thing it could be for. Grrrr.

got RFE. :(

I know it's not the end of the world or even a terrible thing(at least it means they were working on it!), but it's still a horrible, sinking feeling.

I can't even imagine what it would be for. I had everything they ask for. I pay a lot of attention to this kind of stuff. :bonk:

Yay for his SSN! I know we were super excited at how fast Mathews got here. He applied on Tuesday and got it in the mail the same Saturday. When I applied for my new card to reflect my name change it was the same way so I tend to think that my office is like a cracked out hamster, pushing those things out at the speed of light. Lol

So it's official!!! Mathew and I are moving to Fort Wayne, IN! He got the job offer today and he starts on May 9th. So we have a lot to get done in a short amount of time, but we're so happy that it's finally happened for him.

Only thing that bothers me though, is that this is the first time I'm moving out of mom's house and I'm terrified. Yeah, I went to college but it's not the same, because this was still my home. When I move to Indiana I'm going to be out on my own for the first time and it'll be 7 hours away. :(

Okay, so now my head hurts. Booh.

But since Mathew worked in Canada until April last year, do we report that income as foreign income on our US tax return? He hasn't received any kind of payments or held a job since he moved down with his visa, but I'm kind of confused about that part.

Kayla*MathewFemaleCanada2010-03-26 10:11:00
CanadaK-1 people waiting for interviews at Montreal

so i just read a review for k1...

is it true ppl try to vie / jockey for position at the door and ti's a mass confusion? latest review sounds..wacky a bit. blurgh..couple more days..EEK.

If it was my review it was because it was so cold and raining so hard. A lot of people didn`t bring umbrellas so they were all trying to stay dry in the door way. I was fighting mad because I thought that someone who had gotten there 30 seconds before me was going to get the letter A. I mean, I got there first, darn it! :P

But yes, wherever you are, stand on the left side of the door and don`t move. The door guards will come up when they`re going to unlock and literally shoo you away. On our day everyone just kind of backed up. Those that were on the right side had to go to the back of the crowd.

I would assume that on dry days people will actually make a line based on who got there first. So get there first! After about 10-20 minutes of standing there a huge crowd forms, so time is actually of the essence if you want to get out at a decent hour and not make yourself a nervous wreck.

My fiance' scheduled his medical exam for April 7 and I just called the DOS and they say that his packet 3 materials are not showing in the computer yet. The packet 3 materials were delivered on Feb. 19. Hopefully by next Friday Montreal will have opened our packet 3 materials. Come on Montreal, make our dreams come true!

Your medical is good for a year, so I wouldn't worry. However, I remember reading that if your medical expires within so many months you have to get it redone for AOS. Or something like that. Definitely something to do with AOS and getting medical redone if you did it really early, LOL. I'm such a scatterbrain.
Kayla*MathewFemaleCanada2010-03-05 08:45:00
CanadaK-1 people waiting for interviews at Montreal

I have waited 21 days from the NVC sending our packet to Montreal. Is it worth it to try and call Montreal to see where packet 3 is? If it is worth it, what phone number do I call? I was hoping the packet 3 letter would be in my fiance's mailbox today but no such luck. I have to laugh at the "K-1 Flow chart" Yeah right, step 7 says it will take 5-7 days from the consulate receiving our packet to send us the forms list and check list. I looked at other people's timelines of recent and 16 to 21 days seemed the going average and that was over Christmas. Where is my fiance's packet 3? CanadaPost to blame?

Where do you live??? That might have something to do with it. Mathew lives in Laval and it took almost 3 weeks from the time that Packet 3 was sent until he actually received it. Laval is crazily close to Montreal and it always makes me wonder why it seems to take so much longer for him to get mail there.
Kayla*MathewFemaleCanada2010-02-11 23:43:00

has anyone received p4 interview letter yet? Post is drivingme up the wall i'm waiting for so manythings and haven't gotten any !

I just completely give up on the mail system up there. I sent out Mathew and his Parents christmas cards on the same day. He lives in Laval(like not even 20 minutes from Montreal) and his parents live in Rouyn-Noranda(I like to call it the North Pole). I kid you not, she got hers a week ago and he STILL hasn't received his. We had a massive snow storm that delayed me in sending them, but that's been 3 weeks ago.

He'll probably get his Packet 4 the day of his interview. Booh Canada Post.

Called this morning...waited for about 20 min....and it was the most worth 20 min on the phone...got Interview for April 16th...I am pumped I really did not expect it so early...Congrats to everyone else that got March and April Interviews....lets keep them coming....only thing now my Wedding isnt till August we didnt expect it so early so we booked later..we get 6 months on the visa right to show up at the border? I've heard different times...i guess they tell us at the interview.

You've got 6 months to enter the country, then 3 months after you've entered to get married in. I would suggest getting married sooner during the 3 months rather than later.

I called this morning just after my last post on the way to work this morning and got through right away. And we got our date! March 30th! So excited!

My wedding on the 26th of June is pretty much bought and paid for. And it AINT cheap, either. lol So I feel you!!!

our wedding date is July 17 and our packet 3 was logged back in November; I was hoping for a February interview, but i don't think it will be until March :( the waiting sucks!

I'm starting to relax a bit about waiting for our interview. Before I was worried that we'll miss our wedding. But since Montreal logged our case on December 9th I figure we'll get a March or even April interview.

And still our p3 has not been logged. argh getting mad here.

I get the same woman every time I call. She once told me she'd talk to me tomorrow. I was sooo embarrassed. But I really wonder how I keep getting the same woman. I've never been hung up on, thank goodness. I would have pitched a holy fit if they had.

So hopefully that means they're going to start scheduling in batches. I sure hope so.

I know I've got no right to complain because there's been people waiting longer than me for an interview date, but it still sucks. :( Booh. I just want one Canadian. One! They need to quit being to stingy and just give him to me already!!! I promise to take good care of him and feed him, love him, water him, play with him, and let him out to pee once in a while. :luv:

Maybe if I send them a letter with a list of my promises they'll schedule our interview...hmmm...either that or they'll send me a Beagle. Either way, it's a win-win! lol

QUOTE (frenzyheart @ Dec 27 2009, 05:55 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Awww nuts. So yeah, throwing my little bit in here. I complained a bit about the Montreal backlog, but now that my fiance and I have planned stuff out, we're almost hoping we don't get our interview date until late May, early June-ish!!! We're even thinking about asking if we can schedule it then if they try and put it sooner, lol! I really want to be there with him, but I can't get up to Canada until May, and since I'm really, really afraid of airplanes, he figured he'd just come down and get me, and I could spend my summer vacation up there and we'd have our interview, and then when he brings me back, he could POE then. biggrin.gif

Knowing my luck? It won't happen this way, LOL. Luckily, though, we just got NOA2 on the 23rd, so we aren't even at NVC yet. Maybe we'll get lucky, hehe...

Mathew and I have our wedding planned and booked for June 26th. At the beginning we were worried that we wouldn't make it, but since things went faster we're hoping for an interview in Feb or March and maybe even April, and POE in May or early June. Seems sad to be all freaking out over every little thing in the process and wanting it to go faster because you're thinking you'll miss your date, but when it comes down to it you may have planned too far off, LOL.
