Philippinesk1 NBI clearance and police clerance

They close for lunch from 11-1 or 11:30 to 1, something like that. If you start your first day appointment at 1 p.m. you'll wait less time. Vicky did this too. Then when you go for the second day you can go early in the morning and everyone else will be starting and falling in line for what you've already completed and you'll go straight to the US physicians.

The NBI clearance is good for 6 months I believe, but I would agree with the previous poster. It's really inexpensive and simple to renew, so I would have a newer version. Don't forget to make and save a copy for your AOS later.

The police clearance is as the previous poster said, only required if you lived in any foreign country for 6 months or over since you were 16 years old.

Relax, Vicky said the interview was pretty easy and not too many questions.

on the second day they will tell you what time you have to go back

and the NBI is good for 1 year for abroad but i suggest you get your NBI 1 month before your interview

bring tons of prayers on your interview also goodluck

PhilippinesOPM Anyone?

I think that OPM isn't the right term for Philippine music because the ones that are really popular are not original but old songs from other countries given a little remake and sung by the younger Filipino generation. Even MYMP and Nina sing such.

Have you heard of the Tagalog version of Leona Lewis' "Bleeding"? The chorus is like, "Walang tigil pagdaloy ng dugo..." Eowww...

Still, I am looking back at the days when the only reasons I'd watch ASAP in the Philippines were for the "Sessionista" portion and when the "Kanto Boys" perform.

Even the youth nowadays frown upon kundiman.

I am far from being nationalistic (I don't even watch Filipino movies) but there are some of our country's features that are commendable.

Do you still listen to Filipino music?

FAE :luv:

OPM for me is the era of APO Hiking Society, Gary V, Freddie A, Joanne Lorenzana, Sharon C, Zsa Zsa P, Lea S etc...etc i do still listen to their songs once in a while :D

My fiance is thinking of traveling with a friend to get her CFO in the next week or so, the problem is we haven't received our NOA2 yet.

Will she encounter any problems trying to get it too early?

Thanks.

Could a Filipino travel to Bermuda WITHOUT A VISA, just a PASSPORT. Yes, Ive seen wikipedia and a couple answered questions on yahoo answers saying you can, but I would like more verifiable sources, could someone please tell me, Like a Filipino person or someone who knows for sure....

My girlfriend keeps telling me that she needs a visa because she would be passing thru countries that require a visa like the U.S., because it wouldnt be a direct flight

as long as you have your GREEN CARD you dont need a visa

As a few others have asked? Did they keep your Passport? If they did, then you need to give them what they want. The white slip should say what is needed....

As I stated earlier.. they didnt put anything. The white paper.. which is a size of the whole bond paper...

they just check

_ WAIT UNTIL YOU HEAR FROM US....

no check at all above.. they didnt put check what doc/docs.. as in nothing... that's why im confused now.. and left super clueless

you are under Administrative Review (AR) and not Administrative Processing (AP) which means they will gonna conduct some review on your papers AP i believe its a blue slip they will gonna indicate there some documents that you need to present before they issue your visa correct me if im wrong people

Hello everyone! My fiance arrived Dec 26, 2009 and our wedding will take place on Jan 15, 2010. I woul honestly say that we cannot afford that kind of money right now and I would like ask you, my fellow VJ members for assistance. PhilippinesInterview on Monday, February 1, 2010?

Hello all, I'm suprised that my fiance already posted that I got the Pink slip.. he was too excited to tell the news..

Anyways.. they simply asked me the ff question for the initial interview,
1. Name of petioner
2. My name
3. Birthday
4. How long we've known each other and where we've met
5. How did he obtain his citizenship
6. What is his work
7. What are the name of his siblings and what they do for a living
8. If he was married before or had a child?
9. How many times did he visit me since 2005
10. When he first migrated in the US

- almost the same question with the American consul.. who interview me in Tagalog. ( He's very fluent with our language). He was simply looking with our pictures together. He saw our engagement ring certificate and he simply look at my hand if I did wear it. He was very kind and after that he simply said that I was approved. ^___^

congrats! dont forget your CFO sticker ;)

PhilippinesMy wife to be's cough... medical ?

My wife to be always has a little cough in the morning. Nothing that bothers her too much. I notice that her mom and her sister also have that once and a while.

I ask her if it her cough ever goes away completely and she said no just a little every morning. I don't know what the cause of that is. I know she had typhoid as a child but that was cleared up with medicine.

Should I be concerned about her passing medical ?

What exactly are they looking for with the xray and sputum test ?

I want to send her to the local doctor now just for a checkup though I have no idea what the cost might be. She never had a physical before.

Should I have her do a complete physical now and would that help her to have clean health before her medical comes around in the next 2-3 months ?

Or should I just send her to the doctor to treat her cough ?

Any idea what the costs might be if I send her to the local hospital for physical or treatment ? She lives in a remote province but they do have a local hospital.

She always seems very healthy to me and not sickly at all.

Thanks very much for helpful suggestions. :)

even if she got cleared by other doctor or hospital if st. lukes still see a tiny tiny tiny bit of scar she will still undergo sputum test they dont honor any results from other hospital just pray i know she'll be fine

PhilippinesTRICARE QUESTION

Hello to all VJers!!!

My husband works for the military and we applied for my military ID, and along with it, is the tricare...now as a dependent I have an option to choose between base doctors or civilian doctors?

I will really appreciate your views about this especially from those people who work for the military or dependents who were also caught up in this options. Kindly specify the pros and cons of dealing with base doctors and civilian doctors.

Thanks in advance.

i dont think there's a diffrence between base doctors and civilian doctors my husband is stationed @ FT LEE VA and they dont really have a hospital here (that sucks) so we had no choice but to go to a civilian doctor now that im pregnant i always go to the doctor twice/once a month and since then we haven't pay any single penny :D

PhilippinesDetailed Cost/Expenses for K1 visa from start to finish

Have you read the guides at the top of the page? http://www.visajourn...amp;page=guides

That will get you a round about number. there are a lot of variables. How far does your fiancee live from manila? She will have to go there a couple of times most likely or one time for about 2 weeks IF everything goes right. Also, with the K-1, you also need to factor in the Adjustment of Status after you get married. That runs over $1000. there is no set amount of money it will cost you, but start by reading the guides.

Here is a short fee breakdown

I-129F - $455
Visa Fee - $131
Medical - approximately $213 (has to be paid in pesos) and it is 2 days, so you will have to budget in meals and possibly a hotel if your fiancee lives a distance from manila
Plane ticket to the US - approximately 700-1000 depending on destination in the US and time of year
various fares for trips to manila --???
dont forget you will have to of met your fiance(e) in person within the last 2 years and have proof of it..if not, factor in another $1000-1500 for your R/T airfare plus spending money for that time you are there.
NSO birth certificate and CENOMAR (not sure of the going rate for these)
CFO seminar (not a lot, but another expense and possibly another trip to get it taken care of)

there's probably more (affidavit of support fee...not sure if it applies to the K-1 but it is $70 for the CR-1) There will be more people chiming in on this and they probably have good records of what they spent.

If you are worried about money, then you better really start saving. I believe someone here said that if you dont have at least $5000 to devote to the Visa, save until you do.

not only that after she got approved and got married in the US they need to file for AOS which cost $1000+ and after 2 yrs file for removing of condition that cost $545 the OP is talking about the cost from START to FINISH :D

PhilippinesMy wife VS. American food

My wife has been here 4 years and still doesn't eat much American food at all. Daughter does tho.
She's lucky as here in Hawaii we have the same foods as the Philippines.
We even grow ampalaya, camote, petchay, calabasa, obo, gabi etc. You can buy FRESH bangus and tilapia also.

Dakine were moving to Hawaii on 2012 (Schofields Barracks) can you be my neighbor

PhilippinesMy wife VS. American food

Before my wife got here to the USA, she told me that she will eat a lot of food when she gets here as she has a big appetite. I kept telling her that American food is 5 times more filling than food in the Philippines. Once she got here, we went to quite a few restaurants. One of which is Hu-Hot Mongolian Grill where you have a buffet of uncooked foods and they cook it up in front of you on the grill. She got her first place of noodles and meats and it dominated it her. She didn't even eat half the plate mean while I devoured most of my plate, though I didn't go up for 2nds. It's been like this at every restaurant...she comments on how full she gets from the food here unlike in the Philippines. And so I have to say:

American Food: 1
My Wife: 0

im pretty sure if its rice with dried fish, kare-kare, caldereta, adobo, lechon, inasal, sisig etc etc she can eat all day! and wait a couple of weeks your wife will tell you how much she miss she food back home and even if you can buy some pinoy food in the local asian grocery there are still some food that you cant buy like manga w/bagoong, halo-halo, siopao, lechon :crying:
