K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsNovember 2013 TSC Filers

Well for the next few days I will be too busy to check as I am traveling on thursday evening to NY so I gues once I return I will be back at it. I will be performing in a play (spare time activity) and going through dress & tech rehearsals and line rehearsals won't have as much time.

That I didn't pay to much attention to, but I do check my e-mail like a million times a day.. looking for that USCIS heading.. I'm like an addict! LOL

So, its my understanding, that once the NOA 2 is received, it then it goes to the NVC ? Anyone knows what happens there? Or for what purpose?

Yeah me too!! I'm an e-mail/uscis junkie!!!!! I check my e-mail and phone constantly and then I check the website just in case the updated the site before sending the notification and everyday I go home I stop at the mail box before heading to the house just in case they sent the mail notification without the electronic one. The First Step: Filing the Petition
  • You, the U.S. citizen sponsor, must file Form I-129F, Petition for Alien Fiancé(e), with the USCIS office that serves the area where you live. See Direct Filing Addresses for Form I-129F, Petition for Alien Fiancé(e) for information on where to file the petition. Further information is available on the USCIS website under Fiancé(e) Visas. Note: Form I-129F cannot be filed at a U.S. Embassy, Consulate, or USCIS office abroad.
  • Upon approval, USCIS will forward your petition to the National Visa Center (NVC). The NVC will give you a case number and send your petition to the U.S. Embassy or Consulate in the country where your fiancé(e) lives.

Craziness indeed. I think the VJ dates are predicitions based on the timeline updates of other users. That's why in a previous post I declared that I am no longer going to refer to it as mine has changed constantly from day one.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsNovember 2013 TSC Filers

Hey my fiance and I have been waiting for a while now to be together so I think we will be able to survive another year apart though difficult. Yes we only started a romantic relationship with each other a year ago but we have know each other way before that and had been friends. And it's funny how we were both secretly attracted to each other and never really acted on it until now. Truely believe that nothing happens before its time and everything happens for a reason. This too shall pass because nothing lasts forever. Those are my words of wisdom for today. Lol.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsNovember 2013 TSC Filers

For me, the biggest challenge is being unable to visit each other. We're saving up what money would be used in airplane tickets for after I move, as well as vacation days. We both know those first few weeks are going to be insane, both in terms of money and time, so we're saving up. I envy those couples who are able to see each other often.

I have had the same issues with getting to go spend time with my fiance. In September I was supposed to go home and visit but with work responsibilities I was unable to get the time off. Again the same has happened for this Christmas I am unable to leave from work. We wanted to plan a trip for my birthday in January but it's kind of difficult to plan as we started this process started and we are not sure when we will need to travel to the interview and additionally I have another case pending for my mom at the final stages at the NVC so I am double on edge with this visa process. although the one for my mom has not been as frustrating it's been pretty easy and quick just now we are at a standstill waiting on the NVC to finish the last step before consulate. But that is another story! And you are right about needing to save up money because airline tickets to Dominica are rather pricey. And there are so many other costs associated with this petition prior to POE and not to mention the costs afterwards to do the status adjustment. I share your feelings SparklePony but my only saving grace to this whole process is that once it is all over we will be with our love for good and in the end it will all be worth it. Stay strong! Sending some positive vibes and wishes your way.

I saw an approval given in 11 days!!! Go figure
I think I will lose my mind before this is over! After January I don't know the next time I'll see my honey, I was hoping by May he would be in NY with me.. I feel like screaming!!

Trust me I feel the same way!!!!!!! This process is really nerve wrecking!!!! We really have to try and stay strong and keep hope alive that one day soon we will get our NOA2s. good.gif

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsNovember 2013 TSC Filers

Yesterday mine said between Dec 6th and 16th now that I look at it it says Dec 4th and 12th. I am so done with this estimated adjudication date on here. It keeps changing every day!!!! I am no longer going by it because if I do I will seriously lose my mind. Based of the provided estimated date I called the USCIS and they said my case is still pending it doesn't look like anything is missing or need but no decision has been made and it looks like it's going to take a while. I don't understand how that can be! they have looked at the case and if nothing is needed or missing why can't they just make a decision already? And am seeing later filers are already getting approvals. MAKES NO SENSE!!!! This is so frustrating. How can they just toy with people's lives like this. ranting33va.gif ranting33va.gif ranting33va.gif ranting33va.gif ranting33va.gif ranting33va.gif ranting33va.gif

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsNovember 2013 TSC Filers

Hi All,

I started this post as a source of support and information for all of us November filers for the Texas Service Center. It is a bit difficult to keep track of things as there are many different services centers processing applications and I am finding it a bit hard to get info from fellow TSC filers and just thought it would be nice to have a spot for us to meet, greet and share. I am a November filer from the TSC.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresMy extremely bizzare and complicated process...

Dishman you should definitely get the process going and do your research there is a wealth of information on here that can help you. Additionally, it is true that the guidelines for military is a bit different. For sure you have a bit of an upper hand on the rest of us being in the military. From personal experience I have seen military applications moved along faster than normal. Wish I was still in the military doing this process. Definitely see what  assistance you can get from your command on this. Good luck.

Another thing to have the doctor include any medications if any that you are taking in the letter. Had to go through that with my mom when I did her GC due to the fact that she had diabetes and was on medication.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresRegarding taxes and the affidavit of support requirement.

http://www.uscis.gov...form/i-864p.pdf

The above website says that I must make $19,387 annually in order to file for my fiancee to come over here under my support. I do make this before taxes annually, but I make a bit less than this after taxes.

My question is: do they count your total annual earnings (gross salary) or do they look at how much you make after you pay your taxes?

Yes they look at Gross Income. Unless someone else knows otherwise to educate the both of us.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresThe RFE Master List

Awesome thread idea!

Maybe we can put solutions in here as well? For example, instead of getting your forms and information from the Consulate sites, or VJ, or anywhere else, always check the uscis.gov site for the most up to date version of the form AND instructions, including fee amounts.
This is one that has caught many people out. Forms take years to get changed (literally) but webpages can be updated quickly. Always double check at uscis.gov before sending any payment or form.

That is so true. When I started my process I did a lot of research and came across VJ and it was very helpful. But it is always best to get the forms from the USCIS website. I started off by filling out the I-129F but by the time I had gathered all my information and was ready to submit the form had been updated so luckily I was able to download the new correct form to file. I am pretty sure had I submitted with that expired form my petition would have been sent back and delayed.

Hi everyone,

Welcome Rory! While I do not have any advice for you on the name question, I have to say that I am SOOOO excited to find another person from Ireland. My fiance lives in Dublin and we just filed our paperwork last Friday, so it looks like we will be January filers together. Good luck with everything!

P.S. don't forget to update your timeline when you file!

do you have any thoughts on this...

what if i just leave "the other names used" field blank and just send in my itineraries with my birth name and just leave out the itineraries and tickets stubs with Rory on them...or is that just asking for trouble down the line?

QUOTE (junglejao @ Jan 24 2008, 08:01 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
OK, I know there is no rhyme or reason to much of what happens, and please forgive me for whining, but what´s up with the California Service Center right now? There were well over 100 NOA2s in both November and December, but so far only 29 for January! Right when my date is getting close, they all but stop processing. Is there a reason for this? Maybe my question is rhetorical, but I feel the need to vent and want to know if anyone has any insight. I´m in Peru with my fiancee right now and we are realizing that we are not going to be together again for much longer than we had anticipated, even with the additional 2 month cushion I had added on in my head for possible delays. It´s devastating. sad.gif

Playing devil's advocate and assuming no visa is issued before the planned nuptials and we want to proceed with the wedding date, is there anything barring us from having my SO enter the country, get married and then start this stinking process over using a K3 visa when he goes home? I realize no one wants to start things over from scratch...but just thinking of ideas for a backup plan because I do have the dream of an amazing wedding.everything is good.

Yes, but as Laura said, you would have to start over. Another option if that happens would be to have a "wedding" without getting legally married. I know at least one couple did that. Jeremy and Kristy. I don't think I've seen Jeremy posting in a while.

Yes I saw that post today and I really like that option as well if things "fall by the wayside" up at good ol' VSC. We just want a traditional wedding surrounded by our closest family and friends. Great idea!

You can have your amazing wedding (which does require advance planning and money), don't let everyone tell you that you have to do it quickie-style if you don't want to, SMASHROX, though it's certainly an attractive option for many.

I would make sure, however, that when you're contracting for services and goods, you get written contracts which are flexible about postponing the date. A lot of deposits are non-refundable, but even if it's non-refundable, it should be fine to contract for goods and services if you can change the date if need be.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresSetting a marriage date whilst waiting for the visa
I will stand up and say that I am one of those people who is "rolling the dice" and set a wedding date in mid-November. We have only put money down on the reception site, which could likely be moved to another date if the timing doesn't work out.

Playing devil's advocate and assuming no visa is issued before the planned nuptials and we want to proceed with the wedding date, is there anything barring us from having my SO enter the country, get married and then start this stinking process over using a K3 visa when he goes home? I realize no one wants to start things over from scratch...but just thinking of ideas for a backup plan because I do have the dream of an amazing wedding.

QUOTE (~Laura and Nick~ @ Jan 23 2008, 06:35 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I think it's risky.
Not only from the money aspect but the stress aspect as well.

The K1 process can take anywhere from 6 to 12 months to be approved. Lately, it's been at the higher end of that scale.
November is 9 months from now.
Not saying you won't have your visa by then, you more than likely will...but there is a chance that you may not.

Once the visa is issued, the beneficiary has up to 6 months to enter.
Some people begin planning the wedding then because it's in hand, they know they can enter and everything is good.

You could certainly estimate the time of year you'll be getting married...but booking the date and making deposits on church's and halls, etc. etc. etc. etc. could be a costly mistake, especially if you can't change the date.

I'd wait until you at least had your NOA2 before you book anything.

We are estimating a September wedding...but we aren't putting anything in stone. We are also having a very very small ceremony with about 12 people total and just going out for dinner afterwards. Won't take that much time to plan at all.
Many people go the small wedding route with this visa simply because of the timing issue.

Best of luck to you!!!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI-94 issue
Interesting...everytime my DF traveled back to Ireland, the airline collected his I-94 as he boarded the international flight back home. American Airlines even stapled it to the boarding pass once so that it would be collected before he boarded.

We went on a cruise to the Bahamas and went through immigration when we got back. The IO told us the visa waiver program is great but you have to make sure the card is returned. I'm sure you can correct this problem by returning the I-94, maybe with a cover letter explaining the circumstances. I would also check with the airline to see if they can provide you proof that he was on that flight because I would suspect they keep records of their passenger lists.
SMASHROXMaleIreland2008-01-27 09:39:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHow did you know your point of entry?
Canada sounds like it is similar to Ireland. When traveling from the Dublin and Shannon airports, everyone who is US bound goes through immigration there. Once you hit US soil, you breeze through customs since the forms have already been checked. I was curious if any other countries did that, and it looks like Canada does.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresEnough Time?!?
I filed my petition nearly a month ago with 300 days until my wedding date in November. Yes I'm taking chances but as some have advised here, see if you can place refundable deposits and/or apply any deposits you do make to a future date if it needs to be moved. Once we get NOA2 I'll be in business with the rest of the details, but to date we have only reserved the ceremony site.
