Hi friends,

 

I am looking for your guidance and help in answering the following questions:

 

1.  Does the consulate specify a date for the visa interview or do we have the ability to choose the date as per our convenience. 

That depends on how your specific local consulate operates. So you would have to check or ask someone who has been through the same consulate that you will go through. In my case the embassy scheduled my interview. However do take note that the interview date regardless of who chooses it can be changed via request (although I would strongly advise against doing that as it may prolong the process)

 

2.  Also, is K1 visa considered an immigrant visa or a non-immigrant visa for medical and interview scheduling?  I am seeing it both ways.  Some people have said in the forum that they stood in the immigrant visa at the consulate for the interview.  But in some websites K1 has been indicated to be a non-immigrant visa.  Technically I would assume it is an immigrant visa because the individual has the intent to immigrate especially when s/he is getting married to a US Citizen.

From my understanding and I could be wrong so anyone who does have more concrete information feel free to chime in, but the K-1 is a non-immigrant visa but it is processed as an immigrant visa in the sense that it goes through the NVC and you have to do the medical and interview and the whole bit like the immigrant visa.

 

3.  Can the petitioner and the applicant travel together to the US or could that be a problem?  What kind of questions should the applicant be prepared for at the port of entry?

My fiance just called in the morning the NVC...

They still don't have our case, in their system was the answer :C! sad.png on the uscis website it was written, that our case was send to the NVC on february 21st, 2014.... Y'all think I can expect my case # soon??? sad.png

 

 

It's coming got mines 20 days after the date the USCIS website said it was sent to NVC.

It can take a while to get to NVC just keep checking with them periodically to see if they have received it. Mines took about 20 days from the notification that it was mailed to NVC for them to receive and issue a case number. Good luck to you, you are getting there.

 

you can also contact USCIS and get confirmation from them that it has actually been mailed out.

*sighs* It's two weeks now and USCIS apparently still didn't send out case to NVC. Why is it taking that long.. I will be worried that they lost it..

Sparkle did you get a letter or email or checked website?, I found out my case status was in "READY" through website, then called State Department to find out it was at the embassy. we never got a notice letter, email nothing!
Go figure :/

 

NVC does not notify when they forward the cases to the consulate.

Thanks Sparkle! (and the others too). It's nice to know there are other people out there supporting us! My coworkers and friends don't really understand how stressful this process is, but you guys do!

 

I hope Texas keeps approving and work extra fast this week to make up for being closed yesterday! 

 

It is very stressful. Most times if not all your life feels like its at a stand still waiting on the approval. I know what you mean because there were times in the waiting process all I did at my desk was constantly check the status online could barely get any work done.  I wish you and everyone still pending NOA 2 the best of luck and that you all get responses very soon.

Trying to look on the positive side on it, but .. loosing documents? No wonder some cases take that long.. And our package was all neatly put together, stapled and everything was but in binders. I'm also a bit suprised since the case status on website didn't change also. But well.. Going to probably give them a call after we send the certificate to make sure they received it :/

 

 

That really sucks!!! had that happened to me before had to resubmit all the original forms and pay the fees over too. Please do not do like me and just follow their instructions to resubmit. Question them and request to move it up the chain had I known then what I know now I would have saved a lot of money and time. good luck and I hope it works out for you.

The secretary from the senator we wrote an E-Mail and a letter too was writing us (my fiancé) an E-Mail!!!

She wrote him today this message:

I wanted to let you know that I had received an update from the TEXAS SERVICE CENTER.
USCIS has received your I-129F petition. - (OMG THANK GOD FOR THAT!!! Was my thought, when I read it, I thought it was lost!)
Currently your petition is being reviewed and a decision should be issued within 30 business days. I will check in with you again around March 17th. If you should receive notice of a change in status before then please let me know.

Thank you...





AAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH OMG!!! After all that waiting!!!! And I was crying so much an hour ago and wanted to give up in everything i was so down with everything and my life and 20 mins ago I got this message I'm so unbelievable happy again! How close these both feelings are to each other!!! Please keep fingers crossed for us that it will be finally approved soon everybody <3

On December 7 I received an email from USCIS stating: "your Alien Registration Number was changed relating to your I129F, PETITION FOR FIANCE(E)". I file the documents for my fiancee on June 2, 2012 and accordingly immigration is working on May 28, 2012 per USCIS.
Does anyone know what this statement means. I apprecite anyone's help.

It'll take you no more than a few days to get the two certificates you need (Certificato Generale del Casellario Giudiziale & Certificato dei Carichi Pendenti). I seem to recall I read somewhere that they're valid for six months, either way, I am sure you will be having your interview scheduled before that time.

I am right behind you (NOA1 on August 21st), and I already have all documents ready). If worse comes to worst, I'll request new certificates, although I'm 99% sure I won't have to.

If you stay for an extra morning, around 11AM on the day AFTER the interview, you will be getting a text from the DHL deposit to go pick up your passport and other documents.

Yes, everything went well!!!

Everyone was super nice, both at the Varelli and at the Consulate.

I have picked up my passport with the visa this morning at 11am, and have spent countless hours looking at it ever since!

We are now at the airport, overnighting in London and flying to the US tomorrow morning!

To answer your question, yes, you can put "other" in that specific field.
