I got two things in the mail today - first, my biometrics appointment letter. I'm set for Jan 17... and second, my bank statement for last month, which tells me that USCIS cashed my check on December 22, 2011. Things are moving along much faster than I expected...

I got my NOA today. It says my application was recieved on Dec 19. I don't know when my check was cashed but I assume it has been... the NOA is dated Dec 21.

The letter doesn't say anything about biometrics? Do I expect another letter for that? It just says that 'on receipt of all required record checks I will be scheduled for interview at my local office'

I filed my citizenship app on Dec 15, and since I'm a Florida girl it got mailed to Texas.

The actual interview takes less than 15 minutes tops... but you can expect to wait for about an hour before they call you in, longer if it's a very busy center or they had a delay.

If you have a good grasp of English and reasonable comprehension, you can wait till they give you an interview date... it's really not hard to learn the answers using the CD they gave you when you had your biometrics done. The only ones you had to write down seperately were the 'name' questions for your state - I made a sheet of paper with all of those on it and learned them seperately... but the rest was easy. Play the CD through and recite the answer... then when you've got it down fairly well, randomise the play order and do it some more. It'll only take a couple of weeks.

The lack of eye contact doesn't mean a thing. I had a perfectly normal interview and the interviewer acted like a robot for the whole time. I think that must be USCIS policy... or else they're staffed entirely by androids.

I'm not worried about our relationship... I was wondering if the medical requirements etc that you had to fulfill to get the visa and again for the conditional greencard still come into play. Sounds like they don't. (whew!)
