K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresfiance letter of intent boo-boo
The letter goes in with the application packet, doesn't it... so it doesn't really NEED the address on it. It's not actually going to be mailed anyplace on its own (and even if it was, they're not going to reject it because you addressed an envelope to put it in. No need to worry about such a little error as that.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresThe RFE Master List
We got a RFE because my fiance didn't send in enough proof of our meeting - he had to send in more evidence! It's not enough just to fill out the form and say 'we met on X date' - you have to provide photos too :) And then he got another RFE because they needed more financial information from him. Combined the two held us up for three months which seemed like an eternity but wasn't really a big deal.

Hi If you fiance is in Haiti, I think you can request an expedite. I noticed several moved from NJoa1 to the next stage within a month or two. Check with other members in the Haiti Portal. Best wishes, safe travels and happy celebrations (F) (F)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI-129F INITIAL PACKET

It will be about 7 months, so hang in there.

So I guess our wedding date which is set for June 23, 2013 may have to be push back :( I'm thinking about sending them our save-the-date cards, venues contraccts which is already in place and a copy of my deposit for my wedding dress. I must learn to be patient in this entire process. But it's very nerve wreking at the same time. Thanks BIGDOG :)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI-129F INITIAL PACKET
I am traveling to Haiti in a couple of weeks to spend almost a month with my fiance. We will also be taking our engagement pictures and having an offical engagement celebration with our family and friends. I am a bit nervous about this entire VISA JOURNEY process and hope that everything works in our favor and is expedited (no wishful thinking here). I've seen some people wait months, while others it's moving pretty quickly. I want to be ready for every and anything to avoid delays. Iwant to know what are all the forms that I will need beyond this point. With my initial packet, I completed the I-129F (Fiance Visa application); G-325A (Biographic Information); I-134 (Affidavit of Support). I sent more than what was asked for. I believe in front loading to help them speed up the process. I hope my baby is here soooooon.

Please tell me any other documents which will be needed in this entire process. Thank you.

THANK YOU. Like many on this site, I'm new to this and just want to make sure that at least their is PROGRESS. I hope when I get back in January from visiting my fiance in Haiti that I have a few emails and letters awaiting us. again, thank you everyone. I'm still trying to learn how to add the timeline as well to my profile.

Is it the address or the alien registration number?

It's the address. The very first time I did receive one about alien registration, but they said that was internal. Now today I received "change of address"??? I'm completely lost and agitated.

After submitting a service request to expedite, I just received this status update on my case.

On January 24, 2013, your address was changed relating to the I129F, PETITION FOR FIANCE(E) that you filed.

The only problem is that I never changed my address or contacted USCIS about in change of address for tha matter. Can someone who's probably received this message before please inform me what in means, what you did, and what actions followed prior to receiving this message. Please note I've been on hold all day to talk to a tier 2 (to no avail); so now I await on these forums for a sigh of relief. Thank you all for your input.

I haven't heard anymore but I was gonna call in tomorrow to make sure, cuz I don't trust them really! But hey ur fiancé is from Haiti! You guys get approved fast :)) at least I think...
I'll let u know tomorrow!

I've heard the same thing from other users here about Haiti process, that would be great if true cause it's been way too long and we need to be with each other. But I will also call and ask to be redirected to a tier 2 who by the way can give you more info. I hope this means they are processing or working on the case cause I do not have nor did I request a change of address. Looking at your timeline, your process is going pretty smoothly in a timely manner...touched twice :) best wishes and keep me posted. We're only a couple of weeks behind from when we sent off the I-129F :)

I actually received the same status update today. Have you heard anything ever since you received your status update about this change of address. I'm assuming it's a touch in my case as well. Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionIs lifting conditions just a formality?
Assuming you're still married to your partner and you have no intention of getting divorced... is there any other reason why they might refuse to lift the conditions on your greencard and give you a 10-year one?

What about if you had an accident and were in a wheelchair, or if you got cancer or your partner lost their job or you went bankrupt?

I'm just wondering what if anything I still have to worry about for the next few years...

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionNext stop, nonconditional residency...
I know I don't need to worry about this for a long time, but I was glancing at the FAQ and it looks like lifting the conditions is a lot more complicated than it sounds (surprise, surprise - this is the INS we're talking about!) So I want to get a rough idea of what I'll have to do, and what sort of stuff we need to try to accumulate for it... but my biggest question right now is, when exactly do I send in the paperwork for it? My greencard expires on 1/11/08 and while it seems like a long way away right now I know it's not really very far away in real time! If someone who's more knowledgable than me can give me an exact date to apply, I'll put it at the bottom of my sig to remind me to be ready for it...

Removing Conditions on Residency General Discussionremoval of conditions question
If you send it in even a day early they'll send the whole package back to you afaik... I know that if you accidentally send your citizenship application in too early they'll let it get all the way through processing and then deny it because you don't meet the criteria, so make a careful note of when it's due and don't jump the gun!

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionIf you move BEFORE filing, do you have to tell anyone?
DH wants to move for work convenience, and I figure now's a good time to do it because we're between steps - I have my conditional greencard and it has another year left on it. Once I file that 'lifting conditions' paperwork I'm not going ANYWHERE until I have my ten-year greencard in my hot little hand! Do I have to do any extra paperwork to let anyone know that we've moved (once we have)? Or do I just sit tight and file my new paperwork with my new address when the time comes, and let them worry about it?
The move will shunt us from the Miami USCIS area to the West Palm Beach district.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionPlease tell me I'm worrying about nothing...
The thought of dealing with Immigration yet again creates an instant panic in me... I have to lift conditions in October this year, and I have the terrible feeling that they're going to deny me because we don't have enough 'proof' of our marriage... I don't drive so I'm not listed on the car insurance, I don't work or have any income so all the bills are in DH's name, the 'joint' health insurance policy we have just issues two cards with DH's name on them instead of one for each of us, and even though we asked our landlord to put my name on the lease he forgot so that's in DH's name too... I can only think of two things to give them - our bank accounts (we have five to save money for different things, but I'm pretty sure they'll only count one), and our joint tax return. The only vacation we've been on in the last two years was driving to Tampa so we don't even have plane tickets or anything...
We've got six months to come up with stuff that shows we're really married, and no money. What can we do/get to help make us look better... (panicking)

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionWhat went wrong? Not enough info. sent I-751
It seems to me that they probably want more recent evidence... your latest tax return instead of 2005 etc. Could you get a letter (affidavit) from people who know you as a couple to say that they've known you for X amount of time and you're happily married? Some recent junk mail addressed to both of you? Do you have matching library cards etc?
You say your wife doesn't have a state ID and yours is out of date - that should be quick and painless to update and it's one more piece of evidence to show that you have the same name and address...
KajikitFemaleAustralia2007-07-25 11:18:00
Removing Conditions on Residency General Discussionevidence question what should i do?
If you don't have a lease don't worry... I'm sure there's other evidence you can provide, like a letter from your landlord or the complex manager saying that you've both lived there for X amount of time. A lease is just a piece of paper really...
KajikitFemaleAustralia2007-08-27 12:00:00
Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionA little frustrated, need to vent,I-751
Looking at your timeline it appears that you don't HAVE to send your application in today - you CAN send it in, but that's not the same as being obligated to - if necessary you have three months to finish getting your ducks in a row! Do NOT send in an incomplete application under any circumstances - it's just asking for a mess when they return it, or send you an RFE later etc. You've got plenty of time to wait for your new lease to arrive...
KajikitFemaleAustralia2007-08-27 12:08:00
Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionHow long prior do I have to file for removal of conditions?
Any time from 90 days before the expiry date... but you don't HAVE to apply that early. Your deadline for them having the application in their hot little hands is the expiry date on your greencard (so it would be wise to allow at least a few weeks in case there are any problems...)
KajikitFemaleAustralia2007-08-27 14:57:00
Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionWhen do new fees get applied - when application received or processed?
It's SUPPOSED to be from when the application is received... but they have the ultimate say over your destiny, so IMO, it's not worth pissing them off (and delaying the application even further) by making a fuss. You don't poke the tiger...

Copy of US Citizen's driver's license to show living at same address.

Copy of life insurance showing beneficiaries - don't have any. No wills either, before you suggest that. Since there's no kids or other dependants besides me, we don't need them.
utility bills - all in DH's name. He makes the money and pays the bills, not me...
phone bills showing both names - in DH's name (even though we both have a handset.)
Christmas cards - didn't keep the envelopes & anyone can write a card anyway!
vacation pics showing being together.

The list is endless.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionGetting close to filing time!
I'm just hoping that they'll have dealt with some of the huge July backlog by the time they get my application in October... what did they think - that people wouldn't want to hurry and get their applications in before 100%+ fee increase if they possibly could?! Idiot bureaucrats...

Anyway, my time is coming.

Here's the Evidence I can think of right now...

- lease for our apartment with both names on it
- voided check with both names on the address slot
- latest bank statement from our joint savings/checking account (does it matter that the amount in the account is very small?)
- a couple of club newsletters addressed to both of us (should I send a copy of the page in the first one that has our names on the 'Welcome to new members' list?).
- affidavit from our church elder to say we're members (we have to ask him to write it for us, but I wouldn't expect him to object.)
- copies of a few pages from our scrapbooks
- copy of my non-driver state ID.
- copy of my conditional greencard.

What else do we need?

Our medical insurance only has DH's name on the card even though it's for both of us sad.gif so there's not much point in sending a copy of that...
The car is in DH's name because I don't drive...

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionAnyody who receive 2nd biometrics???
I had to do mine again for AOS because they didn't get good enough prints the first time around. They sent me a letter saying that the biometrics weren't done right and to go back to the center at my soonest convenience for a repeat. I don't think they gave me a specific appointment. When I got there I just gave them the letter and they fixed me right up - if the first technician hadn't been a total moron I wouldn't have had to trek back there again!

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionIs this too late?
You mailed it in, so don't worry too much about the date... with luck there won't be any problems with the application and you'll be just fine. The fine print on the application says it must be SUBMITTED during the 90 days, not received/accepted etc.
KajikitFemaleAustralia2007-10-13 15:52:00
Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionYet another evidence question
How many tax returns do you need to send in with your application? Just the latest one? Or do they want them all since you got married?

Ditto for bank statements - how many statements should I include in the packet? We have two small bank accounts which have both our names on the statement, but our main account does NOT put my name on their letters/statements even though I have a card for it and my name is printed on our checks. sad.gif And it's too late to try to get them to change it... our joint credit cards also all arrive in DH's name. sad.gif Does it look bad to send in a statement for an account that we're not even using any more (so it has a very low balance in it?)

I'm short on evidence... I was going to include the hotel invoice and stuff from our last vacation but when I found them the hotel only put DH's name on it so it's no good sad.gif I've got a photo of both of us sitting in a restaurant on that trip...

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionAffidavits?
QUOTE (James @ Oct 17 2007, 06:36 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Just out of curiosity, what do you think the instructions mean when they say "sworn affidavit"? As arijit implied, a sworn affidavit means that the notary has administered an oath, not just acknowledged the signature.

Here is the example sworn affidavit from the pinned thread. (Note that "United States Customs and Immigration Service" on the first line should be changed to "United States Citizenship and Immigration Service.")

I'm not a lawyer. How am I supposed to know what they want from me? I 'thought' that meant they just had to write on the letter that it was true. You don't HAVE to have one anyway so I won't bother... I'll just pray that we have enough evidence of our quiet little married life to get passed.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionAffidavits?
Do the darned things HAVE to be notarised? It doesn't say anything about them needing to be notarised in the notes with the application... it just says that they have to include full name, place of birth, and full details of how they know you. What's the difference between an 'affidavit' and a regular letter anyway? We're getting one from our next door neighbour and the elder at our church and they're both like 'you write out what it has to say and we'll sign it for you'. I figure that the letter has to say something like 'My name is Fred Nerk and I've known John and Karen since Karen moved in in November 2004, I'm their next-door neighbour (blah blah blah)' Is that enough?

DH wants me to have this stupid application all organised by the time we go on vacation next Wednesday, so we're running out of time!

Of course you're not late! You don't HAVE to file it 90 days in advance - that's just the earliest you're allowed to send it in. If you mailed it in on the 2nd January (or even the 22nd) you'd still be within the filing time...
