National Visa Center (Dept of State)Policy Record
Hello,

My husband picked up his police record today in Jamaica. He told me it's 2 copies stapled together. My question is, are we to tear off and keep a copy for our record and only send in 1 or just make a copy for our record in case we need for the interview and send in both? Can someone pls assist who have already pass this stage.

Thanks is advance.

Hey Tash;

Congrats on getting case complete. My SO's case was completed on 3/3/08 and he got an interview dates scheduled for 5/6/08. That is approximately 2 months but I got info about the interview date on 3/25. You should keep calling NVC and make sure you talk to an operator and try to convince them to give you the date. Try to impress upon them that you are currently in Ja and would like to know if a date can be scheduled before you return to the states, unless you are planning to be there for a while.

Will you be staying there for a while? If so, I would implore you to email the embassy and ask if you can come pick up a duplicate packet for the interview as soon as you find out the interview date. You will need this letter to get the medical done and enter the embassy on the date of your husband's interview. Unless you have someone here in the states to send you your copy, you will be waiting forever to get correspondence in JA. The letter will be mailed from the US and will get to your US address faster.

Thanks Clairern for the advice as always. As mentioned above I will not stay much longer. I actually return tomorrow. I was down here from April 10th. Just using some vac time, gotta go back to work. But I will def keep up with calling NVC and see if they can give me a interview date. I see it took you about 3 wks time to get your date. I will wait the same amount of time. Yes I know how the mailing system is, extremely slow. So as usual I will Fed Ex him the paperwork to bring for the medical.

Thanks again.

Well Congrats,

I reviewed your timeline and saw we were on or about the same track. I decided to contact the NVC and heard that our case was completed yesterday. smile.gif smile.gif. I am so happy right now. I just called my husband and he was watching cricket and started yelling louder than the TV.

I just hope I will be able to travel by the time of the interview. Boy I hope this fracture ankle will not stop me. I really want to be there.

Tash you are not too far as I work in Plantation.

Congrats Forbes,

The response I got from my husband was just a BIG SMILE. He doesn't want to show too much emotions until everything is finalized he says, lol. Well I had to be the one making all the noise for both of us, lol. Yes our timeline is right on track and practical just down the street from one another. Who can tell, we may get the same interview date. Ok then, I hope you settled down and off that fracture ankle. Get well soon. Going to need it to run into hubby's arms. lol

Does NVC provide both I-864EZ and I-864 forms which you pick and choose? Or do you have to download the I-864EZ? I submitted my AOS fee bill but yet to receive the AOS form. Today I received the IV fee bill. Does it matter the order in which we submit these forms?

Quick question, it's ok to get the shots without bringing a letter of approval from NVC to the Dr's office? I thought we had to bring that letter and that all shots were to be taken within 10 to 14 days of interview? Am I wrong? or did you get a interview date already. Just wondering.

No what Marlita husband is doing is getting his vaccines at a clinic before the interview medical...you have to pay like an arm and a leg if you do vaccines at the listed medical panel the embassy listed....it's much cheaper if you do it at a clinic...just make sure you have the vaccine card and I think the nurse who gave you the shot has to sign next to each shot they gave you and the interview medical panel will accept that....my husband will be taking his vaccines at his local clinic thursday...he went last week and the nurses told him all he need his two DTP shots but he has to take them 6 weeks apart...they didn't tell him anything about Hep B, MMR or the varicella....

OH ok then, I guess I need to get hubby started on this then thanks. According to him his card is fully immunized. But I'm going to suggest he goes from now and see if he's missing any vaccinations.

I also have wonderful news. I finally gotten an interview date for my CR1 for Oct 21st. kicking.gif My case was completed April 15th. Yes a 6 month wait. It's amazing how other countries get an interview like a month after their case completes. But that's not the case for the Kingston Embassy in Jamaica. I just wanted to share my news with the forum.

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresAm I to send a copy of my....
Hello,

I read the guide of check list when applying for the I-130 form. Since I just became a citizen. I do not have an US passport as yet therefore I cannot send a copy of that to send as proof. However, the guide says I can copy my Naturalization Certificate.

When I looked over my certificate is states in RED letters: IT IS PUNISHABLE BY US LAW TO COPY, PRINT OR PHOTOGRAPH THIS CERTIFICATE, WITHOUT LAWFUL AUTHORITY.

So do I send a copy or not? Or is my A# on my Certificate is good enough in which I filled in on the I-130 application.

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresFee for K-3
Hello, I sent off my I-130 and awaiting my receipt letter. I was going over the new fees. There's 2 part for the K3:

Fee Increase Information:

Effective July 30, 2007, the fee for general fiancée petitions will increase to $455. All petitions postmarked on or after July 30 must be accompanied by the new fee.

Petitions for K-3 status based on an immigrant petition filed by the same U.S. citizen husband or wife will have no fee.

I'm a US citizen applying for my husband, therefore no fee for me correct? Also I reside in Florida and my husband in Jamaica. I am to mail my application to the Chicago, IL address?

Thanks is advance.

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresQuestion on K3 Visa
Hello forum,

I am in the process of filling out my K-3 Visa (petitioning for my husband who resides in Jamaica to come here.) I know most people in here have already completed this step (completion of filling out the app and mailed off.) I was doing fine until I came upon a question in which I don’t quite understand. The question I’m referring to is Question #8 Section B. It goes like this:

Has your finance(e) met and seen you within the two-year period immediately receding the filing of this petition?

What exactly does this mean? Is it asking if I met/seen my husband within the last 2 yrs? I last saw my husband March of this year. Also the blank section below asks to describe the circumstance under which you met. This is referring to when I met/seen him within 2 years or how we initially met?

I ordered the K-3 visa through the mail which comes with instructions. On #10 it states:

How Do You Use This Form for Your Spouse Seeking Entry With a K-3 Vias?
This form may be used to obtain a D-3 visa for your alien spouse. Fill out the form as directed, except assume that finance means spouse. Answer Questions B.17 and B.18 by stating “N/A.” Note that filing this form is only necessary to facilitate the entry of your spouse as a nonimmigrant.

So I’m not sure how to answer this question. Am I to answer per the instructions that came with the K-3 visa, as I do fit this situation? I would deeply appreciated someone clarifying this to me as I’m hoping to send this off this weekend.

Thanks in advance.

US Citizenship General DiscussionQuestion about Tax Filing
Yes, it seems they just have to amend. This case wasn't related to me. Yes next time I will search. They wanted a quick answer so I just typed up the question. Let’s hope all goes well for them, whichever path they may choose, amend or not or just wait.

Thanks

I was just seeing if anyone on here ever gone though this scenario and was denied for this specific reason.

Arrr the dreaded IRS taxes

USCIS is very, very fussy when coming to the table with joint taxes ( N-400 3yr rule)
Make sure you filed taxes for last 3 yrs married..simple as that..

If you have'nt then you can go to ya local uncle sams and adjust that year if need be..
It won't cost you and you wont be put in jail...
once that is done you will have something to show at interveiw if ask....
cover your #### before Interveiw day....
Good Luck

P.S...there is a search button on the forum ...search for key word on your subject, there you find a shed load of info about your post..

US Citizenship General DiscussionQuestion about Tax Filing
They filed Single. But I guess they do have to option to amend if they want to get this Citizenship out the way know.

Don't get too big of a headache now.

Going to leave all of hanging as to whether she filed singly or separately? A huge difference, not only for the USCIS, but the IRS as well. But not as bad as a couple that came here sometime back where both filed head of household. That is really when you pay the lowest amount of taxes, but they claimed they were also advised to do so, but never said from whom.

Talking about taxes, looking at huge pile on my desk, should be doing that instead of typing this, but I know I am going to get a migraine headache once I start. Was never told to use a double negative in a sentence, they use triple and quadruple negatives. Very good at math, and can normally put a word problem into an equation to optimized the results on a worksheet, but my brain gets so twisted up with the language, just about ready to crack up.

What this country needs is a major taxpayers revolt. Not even a booklet this year, have to download everything off the net. Anything in their power to make it as miserable as possible.

US Citizenship General DiscussionQuestion about Tax Filing
I have a friend who's Wife is about to send off her application for Citizenship. However out of the 3 yrs of Tax Papers one year they both filed Single even though they were married. Will this affect her process of approval/denial for Citizenship? She said the person who did her taxes that way said it wouldn't effect her as they only want to see that she filed her taxes.

I told her that doesn't seem right. Anyone know what will or could happen?

Thanks

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionMailing address vs Physical address
Hello,

My Husband and I reside with a family member. We do not have any utility bills in our name other then credit cards/store cards/insurance/cell phone bill/tax/etc... But the thing is most of our mail goes to my mailing address which is a PO Box. A few come to the physical address. I had this PO Box for a few years now. Therefore the address which displays on the bills displays the PO Box. However the account when open has the physical address noted on file. Will this be an issue? Do I need to get a copy from the accounts showing the physical address at least? I will have my relative write up a sworn affidavit stating we've been living there every since such and such date.

Also how far back do we need to submit evidence for each bills? As far back as when my Husband was added to them or the most current statements? I'm in the process now of getting our documents together to send off in roughly 2 weeks time.

Thanks in advance

Hello,

I'm about to mail off my I-751 petition off to the Vermont Service Center. I live in Florida. My question, which address do I choose the Physical, P.O Box, or include both:

This is how it is listed:

USCIS Vermont Service Center
75 Lower Welden St.
P.O. Box 200
St. Albans, VT 05479-0001

Also it's best to ship FED EX right?

Thanks
