Hi Marlita,

lol, thanks I felt the same way. But I'm not certain if I'm going or not. I guess if the letter doesn't state I will not need to. Plus I can use my remaining vacation days for when he arrives. I notice you're next in line on the Timeline. So if not Oct, let's hope Nov for you. Thanks for updating my timeline.

Hi Everyone,

I've been trying to get in touch with a NVC representative from yesterday and it's always busy. Then my Hubby text me today asking did I hear anything from NVC? I told him I still cant get through. So I waited a few minutes to try again. Finally I was able to hear the automated system, but my status still didn't change. unsure.gif So I waited to speak with a representative. The guy asked how may I help you today(after going through the verification of name and DOB of beneficiary and petitioner and phone #) and I said I called to see if our case has been assigned an interview date. He replied, "Yes you have a date for Oct 21st at 7:30a" I was so shock. dancin5hr.gif Finally this day has arrived. I had to ask him to repeat that please. kicking.gif dancin5hr.gif He told me that a letter was sent out to the both of us Sept 12th.

So ironic, yesterday I sent off a final package to my Hubby containing more pics of the last time we were together, along with updated pay stubs and phone records. I knew this day would arrive any day now. Truthfully how things were looking I didn't think we would get a date for Oct. Sorry, It didn't come to mind at the moment to ask if they were still scheduling for Oct.

So Forbes, I think only you and I were left to be scheduled for the month of April for a IR1 or CR1? I would call NVC and find out. I pray that you will hear good news and that everyone else afterwards will follow shortly. Sad that it took us 6 months dry.gif But the long wait is finally over. I'm more excited of course then how he expresses himself but I know he is. So I will keep everyone posted. Also, please pray for the both of us that the interview goes successfully and smoothly. He claims he's not nervous. Time for me to read through the threads to read up on others experiences and what to bring.

OH yeah, now I can finally update my timeline.. Been a while now....

JAMAICANS WITH CASE COMPLETED AND WAITING FOR AN INTERVIEW DATE

Tash..............April 15
Forbes2006.....April 18
Kishmar..........April 25
Marlita...........May 8
Jgay..............June 18

Ok, this is quite depressing to me, but I thought I would bump up this information since September is on the books. Hopefully somebody on this list gets a date soon. Lets all pray for one another.

Dear God, we come to you in prayer thanking you for all that you have done thus far in our lives and thankful for all that you will continue to do for us as your are our Father. Thank you for blessing each one of us with the mate you set out for us to have. Lord you understand each and every one of our situations and you know each and every one of our hearts. I pray that you give us peace and serenity thru this immigration process. Please step in as head of our households while we wait to be reunited with our husbands. I know that you have a perfect plan for each of us and that we must have faith to see that plan. I ask that you help us to hold strong to that faith when we begin to feel weak. Help us to have understanding of this process and see exactly what it is you are preparing us for.

Please be with our husbands as they are not with us during these months. Please keep them safe, healthy and happy dear lord as they deal with being away from their wives. I pray that you give our husbands peace during their times of need, and when they feel lonely. Please guide them during these days to become the mate you would want for us to have so that we may soon come together in unison and exhault your holy name giving you all the honor and glory for bringing us together. Times are very hard dear Lord and we grow weary, please dry our tears and mend our hearts in anticipation of this wait to be over.

I pray this in the name of your holy son Jesus Christ...Amen. heart.gif

AMEN and AMEN good.gif

Lovely Prayer, I read it to my Hubby. Thanks.

A wah di rass?!!! What is this all about? Now I'm happy for IW an all but this is getting to be a tad bit like a slap in the face. CR1 cases have been complete for over 4 months now and still waiting! AND its not security checks we are in DOS and NVC say so. Checks have all been done, its just waiting for the embassy to give them dates. Why is the embassy skipping all the CR1 visas? I got a KNG number back in March!! mad.gif mad.gif mad.gif mad.gif

I'm sorry, but this might actually been some of the most depressing news I heard on here about the wait in a long time. sad.gif cray5ol.gif

I feel the same way...Congrats to those who will soon be united with their loved ones but the embassy is totally forgetting about us immigrant visa holders...since we have to process through NVC the embassy does not even notice us...they probably don't even know how far back they are with scheduling immigrant visas...i think Kishmar said that an operator told her that sometimes the embassy only gives them 5 slots for the month for immigrant visas...do you believe that...5 slots for the entire month...while they are doing 280 odd interviews a day and we only get 5 spots...this is too much...i know we will still have our day but why do we have to wait so damn long for it to finally come.... mad.gif sad.gif crying.gif cray5ol.gif girlwerewolf2xn.gif

I don't believe that. I know for a fact I saw many people being interviewed for immigrant visas on June 24th. Matter a fact, the people that were sitting around us were all there for immigrant visa. And there were so many people there who either had a spouse or daughter or brother or mother file for them. Those are all immigrant visas, right?

Yes those are considering immigrant visas since its immediate family...maybe 06/24 was just a day they felt like giving more slots for immigrant visas...i don't know but all i do know is we are waiting at least 4-5 months for an interview...I know I read that your friend whose case was completed in March finally got her interview date...can you tell us when was her date scheduled???...btw how is she doing...i know she was going through a lot...

J - she's doing well under the circumstances. Her date was scheduled for 8/19 I believe. The jack'### of an ex don't even know. When he calls he ask her after begging for money if she's heard from the immigration people yet. She politely says, no.

Hi Trelawny, Congrats on your marriage and on your friend finally getting an interview date. I truly wish the best for the both of you, especially your friend, the ordeal she is going through at the moment. This should be a joyous moment for the both of them, but instead of his childish and obnoxious behavior she feels the way she does. Do you know or could you ask your friend if this date was scheduled during the 2nd week of July? Half way in Aug is her interview date; I truly hope that we all that are awaiting a date from April still have the opportunity to get a date for the remaining days in Aug. I don’t know if they interview everyday or not. But at least it seems they do however interview many for a particular day, wish is a good thing. I’m sure hubby will not mind the wait, as long as we get it.

Please tell us everything that was going on. I cant stand not knowing versus knowing, even if its not the info I want to hear. At least it gives us something. The problem now, with all of us waiting is NO ONE is telling us ANYTHING. thats the killer! You cant plan a thing. You're life is held up, you start to question your decisions and relationship, you start to argue out of frustration. Even if someone tole me my date would be in December I would be happier than now. Why? because I have something to go on. I can plan my PTO days accordingly. I can start a savings plan and make more scheduled trips to JA. I can plan to stay in JA for the Chirstmas break earlier if need be instead of wondering if I will spend Christmas alone becuase I didnt book a ticket in time and my husband visa didnt come up yet.

Its the same with anything. We are all women and women are survivors (not that men aren't). We can get bad news but we will not break. We will lift ourselves and do what we have to for our family. Yes its scary hearing these things. but being scared is a natural life reaction. It doesnt mean we cant handle it.

I agree with Marlita...Tre, please share what you know...I would PM you but instead of typing it some many times please share it here...I would like to know what is actually going on at Kingston embassy...

Thanks....I also came to another conclusion...I'm playing detective gadget here...I also checked out some of the timelines like Trulo for example since he was the last CR-1 to get an interview...I checked the date when NVC received your case...so Trulo case was received 12.11 and his interview was 6mos after 06.03...also Dimples who is another CR-1 visa holder who already received an interview...her case was received by NVC on 08.03.07 and her interview was 03.18.08 which is 7mos...so we might be able to assume that once your case is received by NVC you can expect a 6-7month wait for interview because of the backlog at kingston...so Forbes, Tash, and Kishmar whose cases where received between Jan-Feb they can expect Aug-Sept...Marlita your case was received in Mar. so you might have to expect Sep-Oct and my case was received in Apr so I may have to expect Oct-Nov...I'm sorry i have to put a damper on this but its better to get a realistic idea than to keep hoping every month that we are going to get a date... crying.gif

Hey Tash, Congratulations on getting the good news. My dad's case was entered into the NVC system on New Year's Eve; it took 5 days from the date I was told it was approved to receive the physical NOA2. Don't worry about the NOA2, your hubby won't need it at the interview. It's nice to have the receipt, but now that it is at the NVC, I think receiving it or not is not a big deal. What you want to make sure you receive is the interview letter that hubby will need to get into the embassy.

Best of luck to you my dear good.gif

National Visa Center (Dept of State)Petition now at NVC
Hi all,

Just got the wonderful news that my case (I-130) has been received at the NVC. I actually got an email from them stating it was received with my assigned NVC case number. The funny thing was that the email was a reply to an inquiry I emailed them about. I wrote them asking if they received my case since it was approved by email on Dec 11, 2007 and it's going on 3 weeks and I haven't received the NOA2 by mail. I was always checking the automated system and I would get the same message that it either has not been received or I input the incorrect case number. Up to yesterday I was still getting this message, but then today the message stated my case was entered January 3, 2008. Hmmmm.....

I just want to know if anyone has have their case received at NVC but still haven't received the NOA2 by mail yet? I'm giving them until 30 business days from the approval notice before I contact them again as I was advise to do so. Also is this notice relevant? Does the beneficiary have to bring this to the interview?

Tash,

The only way to find out if your AOS fee was processed was to call NVC and speak to an operator. CAll (603) 334-0700. Press 1 for English then 5 to speak to an operator.

It is soooo sad that I already memorized a lot of NVC's automated functions. blink.gif

No need to take any paperwork. He just has to provide the NVC info like the address it is going to. The actual report is addressed to the NVC. He needs to also bring two passport sized pictures with him. He can pay JA$2000 for 3-day service or JA$1000 for 21-day service. Make sure your husband signs the report. Mike did not sign his, but no consequences occured from it, but yardies stress that it be signed.

Good luck with the rest of your journey.

Another thing, CONGRATS on your recent NVC completion. kicking.gif Yes it is ridiculous that we have to wait so long for an interview. Hopefully, it will come before that time though.

Hello,

I'm curious. I checked with NVC and it states that a checklist will be sent out to the petitonary. This was generated on March 3, 2008. So I'm gathering all the required docs needed for the DS 230. My question is, Does my Husband who resides in Jamaica, have to bring any paperwork from NVC to the Police Station to request for a Police Certificate? Or can he go ahead and do this ahead of time? As we just want to have everything prepare and ready to send off when the letter arrives.

Thanks in advice.

Police Records

Available. Residents of Jamaica should apply for police certificates at the Ministry of National Security, 3 Oxford Rd., Kingston 5. They must present a passport, two passport-sized photographs, fee receipt, and evidence, such as a form letter of instructions to visa applicants, that the Embassy requires them to obtain police certificates for immigration purposes. There is both express, three-day service and a 21-day service.

After the application is processed, the applicant should take the receipt to 79 East Street in downtown Kingston, where the applicant is fingerprinted. At the end of the specified period, applicants should return to 79 East Street to collect the police certificate.

Ok thanks. I ended up calling NVC, and I spoke with 2 different operators in which they both told me I did not need to have my husband's birth certificate amended showing his fater name. Just as long as it's from the Registar's office and it's the original. They say it's understandable that the fathter may not be listed. I asked them both were they positive. And they say yes, so with that said I'm going to submit the one I have. I just hope all goes well.

According to the case I linked, there is only one valid reason (as far as U.S. immigration is concerned) why someone born in Jamaica would want to amend their birth certificate to add the name of the father:

Jamaican Status of Children Act of 1976 - A child shall be considered legitimated under this Jamaican law when he/she is acknowledged by his/her father before age 18 by the father amending the child's birth certificate to add his name as father. Subsequent marriage to the mother is actually not necessary under this Jamaican law for the child to be considered legitimated (according to the case when it was decided in 1999), and such foreign statutory legitimation will be also recognized for U.S. immigration purposes---quite surprising!

However, beyond legitimation reasons - an amendment to the birth certificate to add the father will not be sufficient to prove parentage and will need to be accompanied by sufficient secondary evidence for the father to be recognized as such for U.S. immigration purposes (which is what I suspected).

Thanks.

Hi Chris, I am the wife (the petitioner) - sponsering my Husband, (the beneficary). I have already emailed NVC. I'm going to call them today. But my Husband is still doing the necesssary steps in getting his Father name added. Today he went to the Jamaica Registar's Office to conduct an interview and brought along his Mother's marriage certificate. He now has to have both his mother/father sign a form. I asked the question because it didn't clarifity on the guide if it was in the case when a parent was filing for a child or spouse filing for a spouse. But I will post back when I get an answer from NVC.

In my opinion, his father's name is irrelevant to the case and the birth certificate should be left alone. However, they probably won't care much about his birth certificate being delayed because his basis of eligibility is by marriage, not by birth.

Here is what can happen trying to fix-up a birth certificate for immigration authorities (case is from Jamaica too!):

---they sure don't like doing to a birth certificate what you are doing when an matter of eligibility is at issue!

Does anyone know if it will be an issue if only one parent (the Mother) name is only on the beneficary's birth certificate? I have a copy of my husband's original birth certificate and it only has his mother name. Has anyone completed this section with only 1 name and had no issues? Per the guideline it states both parents name should be on it.

I'm not quite sure who the beneficiary is here and why the father's name is relevant to your case, so it is hard to answer your question exactly.

In general, a birth certificate that has been amended more than 1 year after child's birth is going to be considered a "delayed" birth certificate and is going to be considered invalid for immigration purposes. If the father is known (sometimes they aren't!) and their identity is relevant to your case, amending the birth certificate like others are suggesting is only going raise all sorts of suspect flags about the legitimacy of the birth record itself. Instead, the embassy want to see the original birth certificate and any evidence you have of who the father actually is, the same evidence that you'd supposedly have to submit to get the birth record legitimately amended anyway.

My advice - leave the birth certificate alone. Submit proof of paternity as separate, additional evidence.

that is a good qestion,

"what if the mother have her child when she 18-20 never married.
when she got her child birth cert it only state the mother name not father."

so my best guess is check your embassy

they require it in JA..even more a marriage...u don't have to be married to add the fathers particulars as long as he shows ID or whatever proof they require

Ok then thanks, I guess hubby will be busy next week. I really hope there will be no problems or too much of a delay. His father is there with the family. Not certain as to why he wasn't listed at the time. So he said he will look about it Monday. Thanks again.

Hello,

I have a question where it contains the photocopy of the biographic data page. My husband still has the old jamaican passport. It's still valid, but on the new one the photo is included on the page in which list your name/date of birth. I'm assuming this is the biographic page. So in my case I just need to photocopy the page with his name/date of birth info correct? Even though the picture is not on that page. Or just copy all and send all? Any one here using the old jamaican passport.

I know people who still travel on it, so it's vaild. But not sure if it be an issue for filing purpose. Any one knows?

Tash, I think you can use that. Just copy the page with the name and DOB and then copy the page with his picture. The passport number should be on the copies so it will all match up. good.gif After all this is done he should maybe try to get a new one, hoping the passport number remains the same, and he will have that for the interview. Let's see what others say.

Ok Thanks, I guess we will just copy each page and send it. It shouldn't hurt.
