I don't think that the vaccine should be mandatory for anyone. I'm an USC and I have not gotten it and will not get it because I think its ridiculous and I don't trust vaccines for the first few years...I'm paranoid. It's unfortunate that they make immigrants get this vaccine.

I agree. When it's new it's not safe! A collegue of my mom at work had a vaccine in the 70s, I don't remember for what disease it was for... It was new and in every school there were doing it, saying it's great and completly safe. But these thousands and thousands of children who had this vaccine when they reached the age of 35 lost their teeth...
I definatly don't want to be the guinee pig of the US gov.!

I am so glad I came in when I did and did not have to do this vaccine!
I hope they do loose at court, such a vaccine should not be mandatory, especially since I heard that it's pretty much useless if you have it once sexually active.
I understand some vaccines, but not all of them make sense in my opinion, sadly as immigrants we have to follow the rules...

Yes exactly! I called few months ago my gyno in France where I go for a check up exam every year since I'm 15! And he told me there's no point for me of doing it! It's only for young girls who are not sexually active or who are in the first year of sexual activity. This vaccine won't do anything to me.

In the US I talk to a doctor here, and he doesn't think it's useless for me blink.gif who's right? if doctors don't have all the same opinion on this it's not good.

I also read different article in the US and in France.
Apparently American are shocked that they do this vaccine to young girls...and in france people are shocked that they do this to older women ...again blink.gif

well I'm gonna call Dr Arnold tomorrow. I understand he can transcript my vaccination information, but he won't be able to do the TB skin and the HPV long distance so I guess that means I will have to go to a doctor and have it done at one point (lucie u say it's not required after u turn 27?).

thanks a lot for answering my question. all of u make this process way more understandable and standable !!

yes, HPV is compulsory until 26 (included)... It sucks! It's a very controversial vaccin, I don't want to take the risk to do it...and the price is also outrageous! 400 dollars! USCIS is getting sued for that! I hope they'll lose this trial and soon! tongue.gif

I have another question concerning AOS.
I though I had to fill in the medical form (I693vaccination part) and then I understood I didn't have to.
Now I'm unsure what I'm supposed to do. it seems like it depends what the consulate send in the brown enveloppe, and also on you local center (some really wanting to see I 693A). Given what I've read on the AOS section I can't make up my mind. what did u guys do?
merci merci merci smile.gif

I didn't send my vaccination. Basically what I think will happen is that when I'll recive my interview letter it will say to bring with me my medical! But I don't think it's a problem for AP or EAD. Cécile got everything without an RFE, and I got my AP for now. From what I read too sometime they don't even bother to ask the vaccination, it depends of what country. And also depends of who 's in charge of your file. Some are more "tatillon que d'autre"! wink.gif

I have an anecdote about food... When I went to Boston, I of course went to Chinatown to remind me a bit of China (used to live there, it was great!) and wanted to buy some food. I was disappointed because I didn't find anything I used to find in Chinese grocery stores. But I did found something French in the middle of all this food from Asia. It was "de la levure chimque Alsa"... I was delighted because in french recipes they always say "un sachet de levure chimique" but here in the US it's in a can so you need to mesure with a spoon..And I'm never sure if I use too much or not enough... So I bought like four packs, it will be easier for me to cook for a while! happy.gif

QUOTE (Cecile and Bryan @ Dec 15 2008, 08:16 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I used "all-purpose flour", just the regular one in stores.
And for 'levure seche', I used Fleischmann's Active Dry Yeast. It is sold in individual envelopes, each envelope is almost the right amount asked in the recipe (7g ~ 1.5cc)

Maybe I will write down the recipe since I made a few changes.
Basically,
Mix 4 cups of flour and 1.4 cups water (they are the quantities asked in the recipe)
Then I dissolved the yeast in 1/4cup of water and added 1 teaspoon of sugar (because Bryan always tells me that the yeast only works if there's sugar in the recipe)
I mixed flour/water with the yeast mixture, but since I had added 1/4 cup of water with the yeast, I added some flour to make the quantities more proportionate. I'm not sure what quantity I added, just enough so I could make the dough in a bowl (way too sticky before). Maybe it was 1/2 cup of flour.
Then I continued the rest of the recipe as it is written.

Thanks for explaining!
i can't wait to try!

I just tried this recipe: http://sandrakavital...n-baguette.html (great blog by the way) and it was awesome!

I changed a few things because I had to dissolve the yeast in water before to incorporate it to the flour-water mixture, so I added a little more flour, and also 1 teaspoon of sugar, and it really tastes like a French baguette from the bakery at the corner of the street smile.gif
So far, that is my favorite recipe.

To ship all my stuff, I can even say all my life, to the US. I did it with a company called "bagage du monde". I used a huge "malle" full and heavy for 250 euros I think. You can choose the date you want it to arrive at the airport and U just have to pick it up when you arrive.

Lucie...

j'espere que tu recevras ton livret bien vite! good.gif

Pour Chicago ils ne le demandent pas. Ils demandent :
