K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresjob verification letter vs pay stubs

hey guys quick question..i will be sending an affidavit of support to my fiancee soon, and i am a little confused, can i just use my paystubs instead of a job verification letter..i have two jobs, part time and full time..im not sure if i can get a letter from my full time job but im certain to get a letter from my part time job..

The employment letter is important to send. Talk with your immediate supervisor or HR dept. in your FT job. The letter only need to be 4-5 sentences long.

Thank Gary very much! Does my financee have to bring photos, emails messages, chats, things like I sent in her I129 petition also? Do they need her to bring things like that proof of our relationshiip? or just the I 134 from me and her required documents?

Actually you should send her the exact copy of the 129F package you submitted to the USCIS in the USA. This is if the embassy needs to see any documents submitted prior. She can take other photos if different from what you sent in the 129F. She can take some chats, space out the dates a little. If you sent her b-day cards, valentines cards etc. she can take. If your fiancee is 23 or younger, the CFO may require a letter from her parents stating the parents approve of marriage. Get it notarized by a lawyer. She can go early to the CFO and see if she needs the letter. The letter requirement happened to us. This requirement is hit and miss with the CFO, best to have it.

Sounds like you will be fine.......

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresNotification

Hello could anyone please tell me Will I recieve a notification from Manila requesting me to send my I 134 documents and forms to them? Or do I need to send all the forms and documents to my finacee? I am unsure when and where to send the I 134 package! Thanks for any advice and information!

This is what I did last year (July '09) for my fiancee (now wife!) for our K1. Unless the rules have drastically changed, this is what you can do.

Once you get the NOA2 (approved), shortly after you will get a letter from the NVC stating your K1 visa has been approved and sent to the appropriate embassy (Manila). This letter will have a case number assigned (example MNL-xxxxxxx). Wait about 1 week to allow the embassy to receive the approval package from the NVC. You can then call the embassy (the toll number) to schedule an interview. You need to send your fiancee the 134 package for her to take to the interview. Send FEDEX, UPS etc. These are important documents not to be trusted with standard mail, especially the Philippine mail system. Impress to your fiancee the importance and to take special care to keep the 134 package safe/secure. Remember your personal and financial info is in these documents. 1 week or so before the interview she can do the medical and CFO stuff.

My memory (like my 401K) has suffered a little lately but this should help you out.

Best wishes.

my petitioner forgot to label/write our names on the plastic/ziplock containing our passport style photo/... will this be a prob?

You should be fine. USCIS wants the names on the backs of the photos in case the pictures become separated from your file during handling. They can then find the correct folder etc.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresMedical Interview

I'm not sure if this is where this question belongs, but here goes. What kind of medical problems will a doctor have to find wrong with the lady before she is denied a K-1 visa. I don't know of any health problems that my fiance has but it's just something I thought of and thought I'd ask.

Here is a link, it is written in fantastic government double speak. Might help out.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresDid you include snail mail letters with your petition?

Hey guys, hope all is well out there. My fiancee and I met a year and two months ago online. We finally met in person this past May for our 1st Anniversary of dating. We have plenty of emails, chat logs, a few monetary support receipts, and several gift receipts to prove of a relationship. Of course, I have all the documents for my visit as well. The problem is that I really didn't know what to expect when we met, and we really didn't treat our relationship as a court case as I am sure many of you can relate. We simply were going with the flow of our honest intentions toward each other. Now, I have done immense research into the K1 petitioning process, and I am learning of all the nuggets of information that will help. Mostly, thanks for the website! I know I need to start a timeline when submitting my evidence to make the case neat and give a timeframe window to the ones in charge. However, I did not communicate much through my phone other than texts, and I did not send any hard copy letters. Neither did she. After learning how valuble they can be, I began using my phone to make calls to her, and we are both going to begin sending letters. Now, if I showed evidence of our relationship, but they notice that there are no letters or phone calls or not much monetary support for the first year out of two or three years, would this be any kind of problem? Has anyone sent in a petition without snail mail proof or only shown snail mail and phone calls from later in the relationship as opposed to the beginning? Thanks for your time!

I did include some snail mail; mostly b-day card, valentines, christmas etc. Not sure if it really helped or not but I felt it did help support an "on-going" relationship the embassy wants us to prove in the petitions. My wife took these to her interview (july '09) and the officer did quickly look a them. Not sure of the weight they played in his decision, but my fiancee (now wife!) was approved with little delay.

Best wishes on your journey

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresplease help what should I use for K1 visa DS 160????

Good day!!...Use the DS 156,156K and 157 forms...the DS 160 form is not applicable for the K1 visa in our US Embassy in Manila(although in other countries they do use DS 160)....if ever you go there with a DS 160 form, it's ok..they will just let you fill up DS 156,156K,157 forms there inside the embassy for FREE...so no worries at all...so why not just use the DS forms then..hehe..  :bonk: :bonk:

Yes, Manila is still using the older forms. The forms are available online, just fill in and print them out. Here is the link with lots of other good info........

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresmedical and shots

Just starting our journey but when do you get your physical exam?? Approx 7-8 before your interview date.
Do you wait until they set appointment and how long is that before your interview??
You can call the embassy and choose an interview date after NVC sends the approval letter
Also, innoculations when can we start those or do they give you a list of which are needed??
St Lukes will give you the shots as required during your physcial, the price is included in the medical fee. You will likely get more shots here in the USA for AOS.
One, more qustions please can anyone who has gone through this process in Manila recomend a hotel very close to St Lukes and then one very close to the Embassy??
We stayed at the Best Western La corona, good food, free breakfast and free internet. Thanks so much!!

My fiancee lives in the Philippines. I was there last in December '09 and filled out all the papers. All I'm waiting on is her CENOMAR to come through the NSO. Can I go ahead and file for her K-1 with just the judge signed annulment papers and no CENOMAR yet?
tHANX

The CENOMAR is not needed at this stage. She will need to take it with her during her interview. No problem for you to proceed with your K1 now.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresRFE - Translations?? USCIS requires me to submit this document??

Hello!!

We just receive the hard copy of RFE letter today and it said that they require me (fiancee) to submit this document to them however I'm having hard time to understand what kind of document is this, Please help to enlighthen me with these :help:

I will appreciate your thoughts on how will I go about these USCIS required document from me. :help: Thanks!!!

"USCIS Certification Requirement
Federal Requirements for Certified Translation
Requirements for “certified translation” are stated in Federal Regulations 8 CFR 103.2 b 2 relating to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security/Immigration Regulations/Powers and Duties – Availability of Records and read as follows:

"(3) Translations. Any document containing foreign language submitted to the Service shall be accompanied by a full English language translation which the translator has certified as complete and accurate, and by the translator’s certification that he or she is competent to translate from the foreign language into English."

We prepare our certification (Certification by Translator) in accordance with these federal regulations.

Certified translation of your documents for U.
Certified translation of your documents for U.S. Immigration office, passport agencies, universities, colleges, boards, and other public and private agencies
What is certified translation for U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services - USCIS or BCIS (formerly Immigration and Naturalization Services - INS)?

Most people get confused with the word "certified." Some ask for "certified translator" while many rightly ask for "certified translation." As we pointed out at translation for immigration the translation --not the translator-- needs to be certified.

§ 1003.33 Translation of documents.

Any foreign language document offered by a party in a proceeding shall be accompanied by an English language translation and a certification signed by the translator that must be printed legibly or typed. Such certification must include a statement that the translator is competent to translate the document, and that the translation is true and accurate to the best of the translator's abilities.

We certify our translation in a format created by the USCIS as required above. There is no mention of "certified translator" "notarization" or "notarized translation" in the statement above. The translator must certify the translation. And. we do certify each translated document, one-by-one.

Please check specific requirements of the USCIS in your application forms. Some documents such as police records, fingerprints, etc. from some countries may require notarization in addition to certification (LND OF-169 April 2008).

How do we certify?
We print our "Certification by Translator" statement on our corporate letterhead, sign it, and affix our raised corporate seal.

Which documents need to be certified?
We translate and certify the following documents: birth certificates, marriage licenses, diplomas, transcripts, police records, certificates of being single, academic credentials, letters of reference, title deeds, insurance papers, invoices, name change documents, and many other documents issued by official agencies. Please contact us if your document is not listed here. "

Are you sure you received a RFE? Like JimVaPhuong, I believe this is worded like an ad. What documents did you submit in your package that was not in english?

I don't think you will have problems with the I-129F, but you may have problems during the interview process. In countries where visa fraud is a problem, the embassy frowns on visas that were denied. I know of a VJ member who's fiancee was denied her visa during the interview because 2 years ago she was denied a tourist visa. Just be honest when you complete your I-129F. You don't want to be banned for life from entering the U.S. because of visa fraud.

Good luck.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHow many photos to include?

How about taking photos in actual interview?

It's a good idea to bring plenty of evidence to the interview. I brought extra evidence (i.e. boarding passes, hotel reservations, photos) to our interview, but the CO did not ask for any of it. Although each consolute is different, it is better to be safe than sorry. It really depends if you or your fiancee have any red flags in your past.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresDHL - Shipment on hold
Okay here's an update.

They had sent the documents to a neighbors house three doors down, left some receipt stating the address of the neighbor. My fiance had to meet the neighbor for the first time to retrieve it (he did not know them personally). Luckily it was an old, sweet couple who were just trying to be neighborly. But I have never heard of it being common practice to simply leave someone elses documents/shipments with some random neighbor you don't know. DHL over here would never have done that. They call you personally if you are not around when they deliver.

I walked him through the package and sure enough it had been torn open by customs. The main envelope was torn at the sides and halfway down the middle. They had gone through my original set of documents but left the backup copies alone. All smaller envelopes containing our pictures had been cut open crudely (even though they weren't sealed). Nothing seems to be missing but yeah, they did for some reason go through it. They were nice enough to put the original papers in bubble wrap after tearing the packaging though. I guess they're checking documents these days since I've been hearing from the replies that it should not be the case.

An officer from the HQ had replied to my email and explained that they had somehow screwed up the address while inputting the data into their system which explains both address changes online.

All is well then but I'm not going to use DHL ever again if they find it standard practice to leave things with random neighbours. My fiance didn't even know the guy!

And thank you for the great support guys. One hurdle to pass, on to the next one. At this rate, I'll be holding my breath every time we send something out via snail mail. At this rate, I'll probably have a stroke before the interview wacko.gif Maybe someone will learn from my experience here and decide to use another carrier to be on the safe side. So some good came out of this.

Customer support wise, DHL was very good. The executive office replied promptly, the CSR followed up with a phone call (just to say they will call again when the driver comes back to find out what happened. Not sure if he got another call with results) and a manager at DHL my side called me back twice to sort out the problem with customs and sent me a text on the phone to inform me it had been delivered. I DID have to inform the manager here on the contents of the package so she could relay it to US side to communicate it to customs.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresDHL - Shipment on hold
The shipment was cleared at OH but we just got a confirmation via tracking airway bill online and through customer service hotline that they delivered it to the wrong address. I had printed his address, my address and both our contact numbers neatly and in caps on the airway bill. Somewhere along the way from here to there, my address changed to an incorrect one and they retained most of his address but changed MD to Ronald Reagen National AIRPORT (DCA). Some guy signed for it and that's that for now.

We have contacted customer service hotline and emailed the executive head office. They claim they will contact the delivery guy to go back and get the package but if they're idiots enough to not be able to read the airway bill and somehow change the address and not have the sense to call the receiver and give it to someone else other than the receiver, I don't know how efficient they will be in getting it back.

Does anyone who has any experience in this know how to get the package back? And how easy is it to have identity theft when they have access to a copy of your birth cert, passport, passport pictures and biographical information as well as phone records?

Think I am going to lose my mind. Not even sent the petition yet and this happens.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresDHL - Shipment on hold
Well I had a call with DHL here who contacted DHL in US and apparently the customs had picked out my documents and set it aside to be inspected. I dont get it at all. I asked if the holdup was because they were inspecting a bunch of packages all at the same time and mine just happened to be among them but no, they had separated mine from the rest.

So now DHL here is telling me that they will ask DHL there on Monday to contact the customs on the contents of the package. By Monday, it would have been a full week.

I'm worried they might misplace some documents while going through my stuff, mess up the order or simply take out some documents that are needed. Basically worried they will #### up and I have to resend everything AGAIN.

Had the same experience with USPS when he tried sending me a letter of support for my tourist visa last year. USPS lost it the first time with international express. They lost it the second time with priority mail. The tracking numbers they gave were invalid and his pay stubs and letter of support scattered to the winds. It finally got to me when he spent 80 bucks sending it via DHL. Right now, I'm afraid we'll have the same shitty bad luck and they will lose, misplace, send back, deny my documents simply because well snail mail HATES us.

There is NOTHING there they can deny. G325A, letter of intent, photos of me and him, passport photo of me, copy of my BC, copy of my passport, copy of receipts, copies of skype call records, verizon and us cellular and some personal wallet pics I made for him. There's a few small paperclips and two big black office paper clips. So what is the problem arggggggggggh? It shouldn't take them TWO days to figure out the contents of everything.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresDHL - Shipment on hold
Hi,

I just sent my fiance my G325a, color copies of hotel receipts, letter of intent, labeled photos, passport photo and other copies of proof of relationship from my side in duplicate via DHL.

Picked up on Monday. Its Friday and now it says 'Clearance Delay' and 'Shipment on Hold' at Wilmington, Ohio??? Its a document, not a package, why is there clearance for documents? The only other thing included was paper clips to hold the documents together and an envelope for pictures, duplicate copies. 5 days when it was supposed to be delivered in 2.

Has anyone had this experience with DHL for sending their documents and can give some insight? I'm freaking out now cause that shipment was expensive and I will have to spend alot to make 2 more duplicates of it if they don't clear or get lost.

Arghggh.

Sorry if in the wrong forum, not sure where to post this.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresQuestion

Carrick,
If you guys have decided any of the specifics about the marriage or honeymoon, then include it in there... it will give them more stuff to ask her about that she is familiar with... Look at it as another way to explain the relationship... it can be as simple as the example here in VJ or as complex as you want.. its up to you... remember that you will have an updated copy presented at the interview.. Always be looking at the big picture.. you are showing them that your relationship is bonafide... not as easy in VN as elsewhere..

Scott,

You read my mind like a book. I was thinking about including some details about the wedding with the letters which is why I was thinking about writing a paragraph or two. I still have not finalized the details yet, but I was thinking about the location of the marriage and honeymoon. Not sure about putting the marriage date on it though.

This is just a general question. How long should the Letter of Intent for the I-129F really be? I will file my petition in August and was wondering if a couple of paragraphs would be enough. I am in a similar situation. My citizenship was acquired through my parents and I received a Certificate of Citizenship. I plan on using my passport as proof of US citizenship as well. K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresG-325A Question

Alright, I had her change her answer for that question. You guys are confusing me--last 5 residences != last 5 addresses? I had her include the 3 addresses/residences she stayed with in the US during her AuPair program as well as her residence in Thailand with her family. Is this not right?

What they are trying to say is that the G-325A is asking you to list her residences in the LAST 5 YEARS.
If she lived at one address for the past 5 years, you would only list that one. If she lived at two/more addresses, you would only list those that fall WITHIN the 5 year time frame.

Basically... where did she live from 2005-2010?

Hope that helps!

No need to be sophisticated ;) Here's what I did:

1. I secured the entire packet (not including the check and cover letter) with a paper clip
2. I placed the check on the cover letter and paper clipped them to the main packet
3. I placed the completed packet in a manila envelope then addressed it
4. I went to FedEx and placed that envelope in one of their shipping packages, re-addressed it, and sent it express

Lol, whew! Hope that helped :)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresA few more G-325a questions

-For the employment section: should employment dates be written as numbers (Month= 06, Year= 2009), or as numbers and letters (Month=Jun, Year= 2009)? The example for on this site shows the months as two digit numbers but in the pdf form when I scroll over this part it says "type month; 3 letters only; ex Jan).

The month is the first three letters, and the year will be all 4 digits (ie. JUL 2008)

-For the employment section: My fiance has only been employed three times in the last five years and it says to leave no blank periods, so for the empty lines should I fill in unemployed student or just leave these blank?

If she's been unemployed within the past five years then yes, put unemployed from _____ to _____. Don't leave a gap, but don't list anything prior to five years.

-For the employment section: My employment will require additional lines and the sample form on the site says to make note of there being an attachment in this section if needed....so where do I put that? Do I put that note in it's own line?

Include a supplement sheet behind the form, title it "Supplemental Sheet for __________'s form G-325a, state "Applicant Employment in the Last Five Years," and list all the additional info, and sign and date it. Be sure to write "See supplemental sheet" on the corresponding space on the G-325a.

-Residence section: "Applicants last address outside the US of more than one year"
Since we've moved back to Ireland we haven't lived anywhere for 12 months, so would my fiance put his address from a few years ago (the house he grew up in)?

List wherever your fiance officially last resided outside the US for more than a year. Basically the last mailing address, not if they were just visiting.

-Native Alphabet Question: on the forums here I've read not to us N/A, to use none instead or you'll get an RFE, but on the example form on here this question shows to put N/A. Is this a typo?

You can definitely use N/A, it's on the instructions.

Good luck! :)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresG-325A Don't understand
I'm about to send of my k-1 then I find out I need 4 or 8 of the G-325A forms. How many am I supposed to send to USCIS? I thought just one from me and one from fiance, and of course make copies of my entire packet. Then I hear i must fill out 4 of them and he must fill out 4 of them and I send them off. Are they the exact same document filled out four times from each of us? Do we both need to sign each others G-325A? Please help :(
