K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresAddress question
Wow, you are going to have a long road ahead of you especially with no family support, feel free to contact me if you ever need someone to talk to. This is a long and tedious journey. I get through it because I have such a supporting family. I don't know what I would do without them so I cant imagine not having their support. But stay in prayer and if its meant to me cant nobody (not even family) stop God).

Inbox if you need to talk.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresAddress question
You can have a separate mailing address. There is a question that will ask you what address you all will be residing at so that could help the answers.

On a separate note, I think that if you truly love him and this marriage is happening regardless of anyone thoughts or opinions; you need to sit your parents down and be honest. Sneaking around is not going to help your situation. You have to marry him within 90 days of getting here, so waiting until the last minute to spring him on your parents and then them having an awful reaction is not fair to your man.

I understand the trust issues and EVRYTHING you are going through.

From what I am hearing from most people do not focus on the website. I think it will hinder you from allowing time to past also. I am not focusing on the website. I am going to just keep it moving and when I get some information from them I will advise, otherwise you will be addicted and drawn to that computer all day every day :help:

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresfiance daughter

The daughter should have been listed on the I-129F. It doesn't matter if you thought she would be applying for a visa. The form instructions don't ask for that information. It just says list all children - full stop. Same with the DS-156K - it gives you the opportunity to indicate whether the child will accompany the primary beneficiary or follow to join, and you can answer "no" to both questions.

He should correct this at the consulate. Fortunately, it's not a material fact. His eligibility for a visa isn't affected by whether or not he's got kids, so they won't accuse of him fraud for not providing the information before. He can simply explain that both of you thought the child didn't need to be listed if she wasn't going to be immigrating. If he doesn't clear this up, and they end up discovering it, then they might crawl up his tailpipe with a microscope (figuratively speaking) to find out what other information he might be trying to conceal.

It also wouldn't hurt if you provided a notarized statement from yourself explaining that you're aware of the existence of the daughter, and that you didn't list her on the I-129F because you misunderstood the form requirements. This should prevent the consulate from accusing him of keeping secrets from you.

Good advice... but if you know the Kingston embassy they are very suspecting of the littlest thing.

I think you created a mess especially with the Kingston embassy.. Just because you enter them on the application does not indicate they will be traveling, it indicates he has kids. Now you have provided false information. He should be honest from here on out and state that he does have a child and that he does not have contact with her.

I think it would be ludacris for him to deny her when I am sure the government knows he is the father. I am not sure how this will play out but I wish the best of luck and God grace!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresFiance did not get visa b/c of insufficient evidence

Have not read this whole post - but as far as D and Me and only having one visit - it is not one visit where they met and decided to file - From reading her profile - they met in the US, and she only has 1 visit since he went back to JA - and there were people on this site in that situation who met in the US, didn't have ANY visits to JA until interview time, and were approved.

You got it   Thank you!!

How does he know? He has tons of people around him doing the same thing? Remember each case is so.different and that is what I like. One visit then filing a case is so different than one visit in 2 years.

Yeah, matter of fact he does... lol

Did your fuyure husband give you a list of names so you can contact these people to verify this fact. I have seen or heard of any of those couples on VJ that have gone thru the Kingston embassy that has met that criteria.

Good luck on your journey.

yes he did about 3 of them. One of them lives in the Miami area to date and he had not even heard of VJ. I talked to another friend from Mexico and she said alot of people get VISA's and do not get on this site. She did just last year for her fiance and never even came to this site.

I just talk to future husband and he said that tons of people get approved in jamaica off one visa. I think that the OP needs to speak with their significant other and see what questions were asked and what was responded.

I feel better now.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWhat can I do?
Hi

I filed a K-1 application two years ago.
My fiance had her interview in Moscow. The Embassy kept her
passport while waiting for a tax transcipt from me. While waiting
my fiance had to go to Germany for her job. She explained this to
the Embassy and they returned her passport. The Embassy then sent
our entire K-1 visa package back to the U.S.

Fast forward two years and I have filed the same paperwork for
the same woman. Only this time it is taking longer than before.
After five months of waiting you can request an update on your
status. I did that and was told that they are doing some additional
investigation and if I don't hear anything in six months, call again.

Does anyone have any advice?

Thank, Ed

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedureswhere does your APPROVED I-129F go?
Though it does go to the NVC they usually don't have to do anything additional with it besides forwarding it to the consulate. Keep calling the NVC to see if they have received your packet. They will then give you a new # to give to your embassy. It takes around 2 weeks for it to go from USCIS to the NVC.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresPlease PLEASE Help take my Stress AWAY!!
Deep slow breaths... For the interview you still need an I-134 to at least have on hand (even if they give it back to you it is better to have it and not need it then to need it and not have it) and all the supporting evidence to go along with it. And still carry the I-134 provided by your father. But do keep in mind that the I-864 is a legally binding document that someone who is a US resident/citizen will need to fill out. But for now you have 3 weeks to prep for your interview so good luck!!!

Any previous marriages? if so don't forget to include divorce decrees. copies of the birth cert is fine. VJ is pretty on the spot for all the paperwork you can except so if you followed what they told you to put in you should be perfect. One piece of advice is to make copies of all the stuff you sent in the I-129F to have on you for future reference. Good luck you are just at the starting line of a very long and stressful process but it will be totally worth it!!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresIn a nut shell, what are the pros & cons between K-1 & CR-1?
At the end of the day for my Fiance and I it came down to the fact that I wanted my family to be there with me for the wedding ceremony. I was married before and it was a shot-gun thing behind my parents back (I was 19 and I really regret it now) and I really wanted my parents to be there this time because this is true love and the last wedding I will ever have, plus my grandfather is too sick to travel and I love him to death. So my fiance made the sacrifice to allow me to have the first ceremony in the US, and we plan on having a re-commitment/2nd ceremony in Costa Rica for his family. At the end of the day you have to weigh what is important to you and your fiance. A bit cheaper somewhat easier road of the CR-1 with a longer waiting period and getting married in Colombia and spending the first months of your marriage apart, or a more expensive more paperwork wedding in the US where you have only 90 days to put something together sacrificing time away during your engagement but once you say "I Do" you are together road of the K-1... really and physically together. Good luck and as long as you love and support each other then it doesn't really matter what you choose because it will be the right choice for you.

This is the email that my Consular in Costa Rica sent me:

The documents required for the I-134 is proof of citizenship or legal permanent residency, 1040 and W-2 of the previous year, and pay stubs. If you have a bank account you could include proof of this but it is not mandatory unless you need it to reach the poverty guideline level-(assets).

It seems like you are really jumping ahead of yourself here and starting to stress out when you haven't even started the process yet which is insanely stressful. As long as you have pictures, and your flight itinerary as well as your passport stamps you will be 100% fine, you could also include phone logs and emails or skype conversations. Enjoy your time together everything else will come with time. As for having a co-sponsor try taking 2 steps back. You won't need that until your interview at the embassy which will be 5-7 months after filing your I-129F. So deep breaths and enjoy being there with your boyfriend.

Also if you read part D on the I129-F paperwork there is a paragraph right above your signature stating the same thing. I didn't add the letter as the gov't forms did not list it as a required document.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresFiance denied tourist visa. How can we improve his chances next time?
My fiancee is also Cameroonian but attends college in Malayasia. He tried to apply for a tourist visa back in January of 2011.Was denied for exact same reason,No substantial ties.I emailed and even visited the U.S.Embassy in Kuala Lumpur,Malaysia when I had to go visit him.Unless he has a job with contract, own property,it's almost impossible he will be approved.I talked to an immigration lawyer as well and they told me that Tourist Visa's are hard to obtain especially for Africans. My advise is for you to go to him.We are starting our K1 now.Wish we had started sooner.I have been twice to visit him.I actually had a layover in Seoul and got to see a little of it.Korea is a beautiful country what little I got to see.My advise if you are serious and can visit him,the next step would be to file K1.The tourist Visa is going to be impossible for him to obtain.

You will need to supply a copy of the court order for the child support along with proof that the payments are being received.

Wow, interview is on Wednesday, and I'm not sure I can supply that on time. However, even if the interviewer doesn't know it... God knows we will be fine financially, and so I'm praying that He will intervene in this case. I'm going to pray for a miracle.

Anyway, my fiance's uncle owns a successful business here, and has guaranteed him a job once he is legally able to work, so finding a job in this economy is the least of our concerns.

Thanks for your answers.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresIncome/Financial Affidavit

you should send a statement explaining why you legally did not have to file taxes. Also, you should provide the court order for child support along with the statements showing those deposits to back up the income you are claiming. You need to prove that the child support will be continuing for quite a few years in order to be used to support your fiance/future spouse once they are in the US.

You might want to get a co-sponsor lined up, just in case they do not accept the child support as your sole income.

I do not have any child-support statements, but I receive an allotment every month, that is all. My ex is in the military, and so I typed a letter to the embassy to go along with the letter from my bank, saying that the child support is enforced by my ex's commanding officer. Also, I don't understand why they don't take in to consideration that once my fiance arrives, and we are married... he will be legally able to work in a few months. He has a BA degree, and is not the type to rely on anyone for support. This should count for something, I am hoping. Anyway, I am currently looking for work, but unfortunately, I don't believe that this will be considered in the interview.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresIncome/Financial Affidavit
I receive a substantial amount of child support every month (above the 125% poverty line), and I pretty much live on this for now. Child support does not need to be filed with the IRS. I have been a full time student for the last few years, and therefore, do not have any tax documents. However, I sent my fiance a letter from my bank, stating all of my deposits for the last year, and also my current balance. I'm wondering if this is sufficient evidence of income. Any advice is appreciated.

I sent my fiance an abundance of proof of our relationship, but he is the one who suggested printing out all of our skype/chat conversations, and even finding a way to print our text messages. Even though we have some very personal messages, I told him YES! Let's print it all! I don't care what they read between us... if it means that it will help bring him here, I don't even care if they follow us around for the first few years.
