IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresInstant Prepaid Phone Cards
:D A great site for instant prepaid phonecards is http://www.pinonsale.com They have special rates for phonecards to just about every country in the world. There cards are $5, $10, $20. An example I get a $5 Phone Card to call the Philippines and I usually get about 30 mins of talk time. For other countries it might be more mins or less mins. Just a little something to make things easier.

Oh yeah it is a good site and you get your card instantly, without having to leave the house

The feeling is so great, the only thing that really sucks about the whole situation is that she will be here soon with me for about 1 or 2 months then i will leave for 4 1/2 months to Iraq, but at least she will be there when i get back.

I called the NVC and explained about me going to Iraq and faxed a copy of my deployment notification and put in my request for expedite. Last night i called for comfirmation of my I-864 package being mailed out and learn that my request was granted. My wife will receive her medical exam date and interview date right after we are done processing the paper with the NVC.

Packet 3 consists of DS 230, and list of documents needed at the interview, For example, birth certificate, marriage certificates, police certificates, and bunch of other things.
I sent only DS230 Part 1 with biometric page ofbeneficiery's passport to NVC, But again this veries per the embassy.

Packet 4 consists of Appointment Letter ( Interview letter) and the list of documents needed at the interview.

In our case, NVC sent packet 3 to USC ( the agent), and embassy sent Packet 4 to Benificiary .

YamSam

Thanks...I feel a little smarter now.....because I put in a request to have my papers expedited and I was approved and I was worried that if the embassy was going to send me here in the US package 3 and 4...that might add more and more time to this already long process. So it is good to know that package 3 is coming to me from the embassy and package 4 is going to my wife....So that is great news

When you file you DS-3032 and you have choosen to make the Agent (me) someone stateside. Once the package leaves the NVC and gets forwarded to the Embassy in the specific country. Who does the Package 3 & 4 come to? And who is the one send those packages? Is it the Embassy or the NVC? Last one is...I know what package 4 is but what is Package 3?

I must add that my spelling in this topic is horrible

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresQuick Path to Department of State operator

Warning : Stupid Question

Is the department of state different from the NVC ? I always call the NVC because that's where my case is. Who calls the DOS and why ?? What do they do different then the NVC ?

LebaneseBride,

The NVC is the Department of State Visa Center in Portsmouth NH and the 'DoS' number is Department of State in Washington.

After the case has been sent by the NVC to the Embassy of the alien's country, the DoS in washington has up to date information on whether or not an interview date has been assigned. Even before the Embassy has notified you.

This is why its useful to use this number after the case has been sent from the NVC.

sanc

WOW!!!! I didn't know that, Thank You for that information

Shortie81,

You're welcome. However I'm curious to know why you were using the number if you didn't know about the info I just posted?

I am trying to get information about if i need to put in an expedite request with the embassy also. If that is the case then i need to have the docuements that they will require to expedite the papers handy when my case reaches the embassy. I am one who like to plan in advance

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresSomething has changed

http://travel.state....types_1309.html

When you click on that link and choose the Philippines application procedures, you get a list of documents that you must obtain and send to the NVC before the interview will be scheduled.

Note that any document that you send them, such as NBI clearance and Affidavit of Support, that has an expiration date will have to be replaced with a current one at the time of the interview. The file will contain the documents and be sent to the embassy by the NVC, but the documents will need to be current and valid at the time of the interview.

The NVC works with the U.S. Embassy in Manila to schedule the interviews for CR-1/IR-1.

I just returned from Manila after attending my wife's successful IR-1 interview.

So i need to send a certified copy of all those documents to the NVC with the DS-230?? I am almost at that point and i don't want to waste no extra time waiting for documents

Ok i know that i asked the question of who send the interview date out for the philippines....The NVC or the Embassy, and at the point that i asked that question the answer was "NVC schedules interviews for immigrant visas applicants in Canada, Albania, Turkey, United Arab Emirates, and the continent of Africa that was 1 Mar 06." But now if you goto the Department of State Website.....It has change to " Instructions for Immigrant Visa Applicants (applying in Albania, Canada, Lebanon, Philippines, Turkey, United Arab Emirates or on the continent of Africa)" http://travel.state....types_1309.html

So does this mean the NVC is going to schedule the interview?

Can anyone help me here.....I am confused

If that is the case......do i need my wife to send all the required documents to me.....if so i cna have her mail those off now

The NVC's ultimate goal is to schedule interviews across the whole world to ease processing required by Embasies and Consulates.
I read this in a Lawyer's report a while back.

Once the IV fee bill is paid, NVC will send the Instruction Packet of forms and information to the agent. This package pertains to the applicant/beneficiary. Have a look at the link below and scroll down. Click on the Instructions dependent on the country of interview. You will find a list of what the package will contain and what will be required.

http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/types/types_1309.html

According to the website, those applying in Canada, Albania, Turkey, United Arab Emirates or on the continent of Africa will return a completed DS-230 parts I & II and all accompanying documentation.

Those not included in the above will only return to NVC a completed DS-230 part I and a copy of the biometrics page of the passport, with part II to be completed, not signed, and taken along to the interview along with all the requested documentation.

The general rule of thumb is.....when you are required to only submit part I of DS-230 then the consulate will set the interview date. If you are required to send in both parts I & II then the the interview date will come via the NVC. You have a bit of a wait with Manila Im afraid.

did you notice the change on the website? They added the philippines to the list

Which link are you referring to?? Within the link I posted or somewhere else?

It was the link within the response

and I placed an expedite request with NVC and it was approved there also.

Shortie81,

What was 'approved at the NVC'?
The NVC does nothing but collect fees and documents.
You still have to wait for the DS-230 packet and respond to it before anything can be sent to the Embassy.

I put in a request to have the process expedited and speedy process request was granted. There is one certain person that is handling my case

Yeah, That is a really smart comment.......Don't you think that I have done that already? But you should also know that most of the small name hotels are not listed in a Google search. You should also know that there is no advice like the advice of someone who has done it already, someone who has already made the St. Luke Medical and the US Embassy walk. So before you go telling someone to make a simple Google search....I would really think about what they are asking for first

Note: we had stayed on the 12th floor which had been newly renovated. Room was very clean and quiet.

I told my wife to call the embassy in manila on the 24th of May to find out about the expedite request, because the case was completed at the NVC and shipped to the embassy on 12 May. Well when she called the embassy they informed her about her interview date, which is dated for 7 June, and so she needed to hurry and pack to fly to manila for her medical exam, but we hadn't received PACKET 4 yet! What to do? So she calls back and informs them that she hadn't received it and they told her to just get to manila and have her medical exam as fast as possible. So needless to say sunday she arrives and monday morning she goes in for her medical exam and long and behold the PACKET 4 was sitting there in the St Luke Clinic just waiting for her to get it. Well if she hadn't called the embassy, there is no way that she would have known about the interview date or the medical exam. Oh yeah and just a little notice to the ladies.....don't bother with the medical if it is that time of the month when you have your cycle, because they won't go through with the exam until it is done. My wife found that out the hard way

hi Shortie81,

I am from the philippines also and i expereinced my k-1 interview last december and it seems that i felt so nervous while my interview is fast approaching but my god, when i was inside manila embassy office already the consul, staff and security guards are very kind to me and to my pretty little girl. don't you worry, as long as your papers are complete nothing to be worried about. just relax and tell your wife to be more confident coz no one was denied in spousal visa as long as documents and relationship is genuine.

by the way....GOOD LUCK AND GOD SPEED!

I know she will be fine. She just got done with her Medical exam today and everything went fine. So she has tomorrow to rest and then Wednesday is show time. I just hope that we don't have to wait long to actually get the visa
