I agree with midge you have a year or more to begin gathering information. I just went throught the interview process 2 days ago. What they want to see is the reality of your relationship. Over the next year begin to gather and put together everything. Write a progression of your relationship, Picures during your meetings, family pictures together, for phone calls using VIP for phone calls really worked for us. VIP even wrote a letter stating this is our client, she open her account thid date, she mainly calls Ghana, these are her calls type of thing. The certified letters from family and friends also are a good touch. Accra is a tough Embassy our fiancee visa was not approved that is why I worked so hard on the IR/1. It can be done and you have time.

Also, double check everything and do not miss even the little thing in the packet, dates signed, and of course, signatures. N/A and NONEs too, if you miss that, that would only mean "RFE". It is better to put in some more photos and emails and mails than less, or you'll get RFE. The bottom line: evidence matters to them.

Great questions but really it is not that bad. This is my second time as my first fiancee did not work out 5 years ago so I stopped process. What you will need to do as I have other friends that went through this is to have a binder with all of your supporting docs, financials etc from your fiancee readily available so you can quickly pull what is needed when asked by the interviewer. The rest of the stuff that others shared is really simple if you follow the flow chart. I hired an Attorney last time and now realize it was a waste of money. When I get stumped I just ask a questions and the kind members help...

photocopy of his Ghanaian visa and entry stamp is a good enough proof. also date the pictures and write names of the people in it and the location the picture was taken. the entry stamp with the date is a good proof. i don't think you really need any call record, but you can add it if it makes you feel any better. its also very important to make sure you sign and check every box you are required to.

You will receive a RFE (Request For Evidence) if you forgot to include a document, if you forgot to check a box, if you didn't provide enough proof of having met in the last 2 years (it doesn't mean you need to send them a lot, but quality ones)…

It's better to lose few days and be sure you followed the checklist than losing a month or more because of a RFE. :thumbs:

can u kindly tell me some of the stuff u sent as proof of evidence? we are sendng a photocopy of his passport stamps and photos.is that not enough? :unsure:

Follow the check list as stated, do not read anything into this process and keep the steps separated as different forms are needed. Read and reread them again and again, make sure both of you have an exact copy. Good Luck. If you get an RFE you are looking at a 30 day delay in most cases.

I do agree as someone who works with the federal government you are not allowed to use whiteout on your documents. As the poster said, you are suppose to put a line through it and date and initial it. So we will see.

I sent in a request to the Vermont office to have my K-1 cancelled, mailed a copy of the original receipt that I received along with a letter requesting my K-1 Visa be cancelled. It's been over a month and I haven't received any paper work of any sort saying it was cancelled, is this the norm ? I called the office the day before I sent out the cancellation letter and the gov. employee stated my case was still open and still in a status that enabled me to cancel my application, so I overnight-ed the form and have been waiting ever since.

I'm sure it'll give people an idea of what to expect. I know that when I was there for my husband's interview I had told him not to expect to get his visa so quickly because at the time of his interview alot of people were getting AP for one reason or another.
One thing if you have time to research and add to your list is how many Egyptian husbands had their US wives with them at the interview. You will see that alot of them that actually had their spouse with them had shorter and/or no AP. As far as getting AP alot of time it happens for different reasons, being from common name checks (yes they all seem to enjoy having the same names), possible previous Visa applications, traveling outside of Egypt for work/vacations, and even where they live, meaning do they come from larger metropolitan cities like Cairo, or Alexandria or from smaller towns/villages in upper Egypt.

As long as your case is pretty straight forward, you should be able to pull it off yourself. I suppose it is a personal choice. I decided not to use one because when I went through the forms myself, i found it to be pretty self explanatory.But I should mention I'm kind of a control freak and I don't think anything can be done right unless i do it myself :)

Now I see so many August filers getting NOA2 approvals and I am still waiting on mine from July. I am even becoming envious of the August filers that are being approved :wacko:

Updating a web site data could be done in parts. With some records being updated be updated and others not. If the data is updated then why is my record not in there? Trust me. This web site is not where the data is housed. This is a secondary system and the data is not reliable and they told me it is not reliable. I have a NOA1 letter with E number and the web site doesn't even recognize it.

You can believe what you want but I have been building software for 23 years and I don't even waste my time to look at it.

Scruffydog is right. Forget the web site. That data is fed from their central computers, probably an IBM AS/400 with green screens. A legacy system. When I called to ask why I had a NOA1 letter but no acknowledgement on the web site, the lady told me that the web site data feed
from their central system was broke and had been for a while. She then typed in a few key strokes and said, "yep, you are in the system. It is being processed."

To this day, my information does not show up on the web site but I have a letter and someone has told me I am in the system so I am patiently waiting for our NOA2. ;)

I asked the really hard questions of my fiance early on (within the first 2 weeks). I wanted our relationship to either fall apart in the early stages or grow stronger. As it turns out, all of these questions in our relationship were answered and we only reinforce them in our discussions. It really made it easy for us. We are sailing through and have bonded much more since I have returned to America.

Marriage is a very, very serious step. Get all the input you can. I haven't read any of these books but I might. I just think I covered most all the important questions already but if you haven't, assemble some questions and you might get some from here.

The true goal is for both of you to be happy.. that is the only way.

Yes, sorry to be abrupt. I was short because I was working at the time and didn't review my statement. Sounds like you are good to file the K1. I don't know of your total time together but if the meeting was less than a week, I would recommend you get at least double that before your interview if you can. Seems like I read where someone else had a short stay of 3 days and it was brought up and I am not sure of the result. Search for "short stay" on VJ to find the comments.

This lady technically pays me that money so I can talk to her over the phone and I make myself available to her 24 hours a day so I don't consider it a job I just listen to her. It sounds odd but its the truth.


That is not a job. In order for it to be a job, you have to have Federal Taxes taken out or be paying quarterly taxes but you have to pay taxes. They would not view this favorably and it might dig you in a deep whole if you claim it as earned income. :bonk:

I am also planning on going back in late January 2012. Since there is always another layover in Detroit, New York, Washington... and I am aware of potential heavy snow during this time of year. For this reason, I might fly from Orlando to LAX or some other California layover to avoid the problems up North. I will wait till December before I book.

My checklist for my long flight includes a 750 page software development book. If that doesn't put me to sleep then it's two Tylenol PM's and a beer (recommended by another frequent traveler I met last time.) That flight is really, really long.

I have heard that the third week of January is crowded due to holidays which is why I am probably moving it till the last week of January.

@Turbo guy - thanks for posting that. You can meet a woman who seems to be an angel, only to find a devil in her soul. (I met one that was in America like that.) Evaluate the whole family, not just the potential fiance and look for manipulation and lies early on. It is easy to fool someone that wants to believe everything a pretty girl tells him. It is much harder to fool someone that doesn't trust anyone or what they say until they prove to be worthy of that trust.

@lilly1986 talking about "Why would someone look to another country?" You are correct when you said that you do not understand. There is no need to imply we are fools. The success rate of American marriages are 50% but much higher from Philippines/American. You have no clue and everyone is entitled to their own opinion. It irks me to hear people imply that every Filipina woman is only marrying an American for a Green Card. Go on the Philippine Forum and post that, if you dare... lol.

About 4 years ago, I got burned so bad by an American woman that I will never trust what anyone tells me until I thoroughly know them and they are worthy of it. I am sure that Whyus0heartless has learned this and will likely end up with a much, much better woman next time. That is what happened in my case anyway.
My finance told me that many women in the Philippines just want the Fiance to send them money and they have a boyfriend on the side. They really don't want to leave.

IN JUNE OF THIS YEAR
While on Filipinocupid.com I had a scammer take me for $ 150 and I put her story, name and picture on dragonladies.com. I almost forgot I did that and last week a guy contacted me about a girl of the same name. He said he was shocked to find her name on dragonladies.com and he told me he had drained his bank account and sent her over $ 20,000 this year. I told him I was positive the woman was a scammer but he still believes she is not and is planning on meeting her in December. He has only seen her on cam once but talks to her everyday. I am positive it is a scam but I can't convince him because he is in love :bonk:

My understanding is that Agg Battery will not prevent you but hopefully you checked the box that you were convicted if at the time you sent that you already were. If you signed the form and sent it and checked "No Convictions" but yet you had one, that will be the biggest problem you will have. :bonk: That is all I know. I don't know how big a problem but always be truthful to the government on everything or else they will have reason to deny you.

The only reason you have to disclose this is for the Foriegner to be informed about it and be aware that you have been convicted. That is what that is all about. Search on this forum for Adam Walsh Act.. crimes against children. That is the only crime that I am aware of that will cause them to flat out deny anyone.

Get a lawyer that specializes in it but not the ones that claim to be the best.. just one that does a lot of volume with the Indonesia Embassy for K1's.

Your problems are not contagious so they will not be a problem for the Visa but they will cause you great problems if you don't change your diet. First, take this product everyday called Metamucil. That will increase your fiber intake and your constipation will go away. Also, you need to change your diet to better balanced diet... with daily apples and other fruits on a daily basis.
