I suggest e-mailing the consulate in the UK and explaining your situation. Ask them what you should do in this case. Do you really need the marriage certificate if you have the divorce papers?

It seems I've read alot of posts of couples complaining about their lawyer - the lawyer sent the paperwork to a wrong address, lost it, made a mistake, etc.
However, I know that some couples hire one because they do NOT have straightforward cases and need legal advice.

Personally, I think it is unnecessary. We didn't use one and I'm glad of that.

Hi,

Anyone else recently receiving an NOA2 from VSC, have you had it reach the NVC? Ours was granted around Nov 29th, and never seemed to reach the NVC. Not processing it is one thing, but they say they never received it. I'm going to try and call VSC monday to see if they can confirm the sending of the file, but I'm curious if anyone else has done this before?



I have seen this happen before, it's been about a month and a half since your approval and NVC has not received your petition. That really sux, but I have definitely seen it happen, it gets stuck in a pile somewhere, or shuffled around. CSC has been known to do it quite a bit, I am not real sure about how often VSC though. I would just stay on VSC until they can confirm it left their office. At least then you will know it is not lost. Good Luck to you.

It sounds like you will make it in the summer, assuming you don't have any problems during the process and all paperwork is done properly. I would review the processing time for Kazakhstan to see how long the U.S. embassy there takes to process visa applications. The process of filing is pretty much the same no matter where you are in this country. You can expect 3 to 4 months of processing by the USCIS service center. Currently Texas is sending its I-129F's to the California Service Center (CSC). You might also ask questions in the Russia regional forum about specifics since your country will have similar problems.

Good luck and plan for a new life with many changes. I don't think your time frame is unrealistic but problems can always occur. I went through this process twice. The first one took 9 months to accomplish and ended very badly. The second took five months from application until arrival. We will celebrate our first anniversary next week.

Also, learn to be patient.

6 months to get through the entire process is overly optimistic. How long does it take to get an interview there? What about delays due to potential security checks? Best to do some research on the typical wait times for interviews there before you get your heart set on that timing/

He is a resident of FL, and we heard so many things about TSC- the processing time is too slow.. We hope that submiting our petition (I-129F) before 20 January 2007 I can get in USA in June 2007 with K1 visa in my passport. What do you think- are we too optimistic? Thank you

We met 3 yeras ago in my country Kazakhstan. After 1 year he left back to USA since 2 years already we see yeach other 3 times per year and only for 3 weeks. Every his journey and mine we are so happy as we are together, bu when it is time to fly back to our home counties.... the most sad days!!!

Sometimes they'll send your application to a different service center though...for example I sent mine into the Nebraska Service Center because I'm in Colorado but they transferred it to the California Service Center. So you might get lucky as well - you never know!

DanNNina is right - it's beneficial to be honest throughout this process.
I understand that you want this process to move along quickly - we all do.
Like your fiance I live in Fl and so we send our applications to TSC but since they don't handle K1 visas (nor have been for a long time) then every case is immediately forwarded to CSC.
We waited 72 days (and that includes Thanksgiving break).
The (average) wait is not nearly as long as it used to be.

My fiance plans to send everything next week. We really hope that I will have visa in June and will be able to move in July. But looking at some stories I guess I am too optimistic. And some members tell me that July is real time, some tells that July is too optimistic. So we are confused :-(

Your fiance resides in Florida - not MA.
I was born and raised in NY but reside in Florida.
USCIS does not ask us where our parents live....nor what state our driver's license is from.

If just three then I would do as I did and write the patronomic name in the space for the middle. Just try to get the bio sheet as accurate as possible. When it comes to actually issuing the visa, the consulate will issue it in the name as it stated in your passport.

I don't have middle name as all Russian people. But I visited so many times US (visiting my fiance) and never put in my visit visa aplication form my patronomic name in space for middle name. and nobody even asked me about patronomic name. I have only Family name and given name in all my US visas. but I need to put my full name in Russian (Sec.16 of I-129F) But may be I don't need to put my patronomic name in Russian version? WShat do u think?

But patronomic name and middle name are different. For example in my passport: Only First name and Given name in English, and First name, Given name and Patronomic name in Russian (in Kazakh passport we have 2 pages in Russian and in English)

I'm in the same boat as you; from everything I've heard the American Embassy in Almaty is quick and efficient but the paperwork will still take an average of 5 months from start to finish. The waiting is hard but it's good to know that we have a good embassy to work with once things do start to get processed!

However, they do not have to be notarized.

But some people say that I need sign the same paper here in Kazakhstan, after i need to notorize it, to translate it, notorize the translation and send it to my fiance to US where he will submit it with all petition.

.. and we all wonder how come the CSC cannot operate like the VSC in the shipping department!!

Last week when I called the USCIS the guy on the phone while nice told me that the NVC does get approved cases. So I said good bye and came to the quick conclusion that the USCIS has no clue about approved cases.

I wish the CSC had a direct number for service.

Vermont is faster, and the shipping department at Vermont actual ships out your package to the NVC in a timely manner. Trust me you do not want your visa application to be done at the California Center. The worst part with the California center is after everyone receives the NOA 2 that your case is being sent to the NVC (K Visa Applications) and etc.. Everyone just keeps waiting for the clowns in the California Service Center Shipping department to ship out cases to the NVC. The waiting time is the most stressful thing.. With the Vermont center by the time most people receive there NOA2 letter, there case has already reached the NVC.

Hi Elena! My fiance too is a Netherlands native. He found someone there in his country to do the translations. I had the same problem when we first began too as I was searching for someone here. He uses a lady there (I can get her info if you would like) and she has had everything returned to him the next day. We chose to have an individual do it that was certified in doing so just in case there was ever a question about anything.
