I wouldn't think that you'd need one if you have your passport because you need your BC to get one.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI-134 Bank Statement Question
I agree that you do not need to present a lot of supplemental information if you earn more than the poverty guidelines. My bank has been very difficult to work with and have not given me the letter I requested for.
I plan on printing out some on-line bank statements.
I'll include my salary, savings balance, life insurance sum, and paystubs.
I have my employer's letter as well and my contract from work.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresAny in November 2007 recieved NOA2?
Ours took 72 days (and the only holiday was Thanksgiving). Your time is coming and it's true - then it'll seem like a distant memory.
Good luck!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWhat to do now????
Make sure your fiance has a passport (if she doesn't already) because that can take time.
bora boraFemaleBrazil2007-01-07 18:23:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresThe hard part...
It's hard but you can make it - and you're fortunate because you should be receiving the NOA2 soon, so after that there is not too much of a wait.
My fiance and I met while I was living in Brazil and we spent 7 months living together and THEN started a long distance relationship. It takes some adjusting but with the NOA2 hopefully around the corner it should be much easier knowing next time is forever.
Good luck.

I travel ALOT, although I've never been to the Philipines, and I ALWAYS bring books - of all shapes and sizes - from many different countries in Latin America. Never has it been a problem.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresAnybody "touched" ?
True. The average wait these days for CSC filers seems to be 2-3 months. We were approved in 72 days so if you just filed 3 weeks ago you probably have a bit of a wait. Good luck.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHow is Vermont so much faster?
You know - northerners are a bit quicker

The Declaration is a written statement describing how you met, etc. The Proof of having met can be your boarding passes, visa stamps, pictures, proof of working abroad (if applicable), hotel receipts, e-mails where trips are mentioned, etc.

The letter of intent is a basic letter stating that you will marry your fiance and s/he will marry you. There need to be original signatures and it should be addressed to Nebraska (who upon receipt will immediately forward it to California).

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresBeginning K1 process and visiting fiance's country- timing ?'s
I believe it is better to send a bit of everything - we only sent 5 (translated) e-mails, one letter, six pictures..etc.
We sent visa stamps, boarding passes, proof I worked there, credit card receipts for phone cards, phone bills, a letter from a friend verifying our relationship, hotel receipt, my resident card, and a bit more.
We sent a little of each....

As far as the address, your fiance may be able to use a relative or friend's address that is permanent, or easy to deliver mail to. The consulate will only send him one packet and although my fiance never received it, we still were able to get the papers and mail them in.

Good luck.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresDo I have everything to send in my I-129F?
We also put our pictures in clear plastic ziploc bags. I wrote "photo of..." on each and "proof of meeting in the last 2 years" for the bag of our pictures together.
Don't forget question 18 on teh I-129F form.
Sign everything!!!

Also, write K1 visa: I-129F on the envelope - it makes it easier to get to the right people at USCIS.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresstatement of intent
If you really think that you will get an RFE for that then have your fiance print out the letter of intent again and sign it. Then s/he can mail it you now and if there is an RFE in the future you will already have the paperwork and can immediately send it to USCIS. That could save you some time.
We had some supplements with our applicatios because not all of the information would fit onto the I-129F and G-325A forms. We sent those in - nicely typed and marked accordingly - but not signed. Not that we had to but I was afraid of it. My fiance printed out the forms again and signed every page. He then mailed them to me. We did not have an RFE, but had we, his paperwork was here in the U.S. with me so I would not have had to ask him to mail me anything and put off their request.

Otherwise, relax and don't think about it too much. If USCIS wants something from you, they'll ask.
I know there are still some Sept NOA1s but realize that most of us have been approved. (Check out Gary's website).
Hope this helps.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWhy does passport need to be valid for 5 years?
I wanted to verify something about passports and visas.
My passport expires 2/09 and yet my Brazilian visa doesn't expire until 2010 (I think).
That means that I will need to apply for a new passport yet still travel with my old one - in addition - to show my visa when I enter the country?

(I'm going to try and get dual citizenship in the future).

Yea, JaJo,
I found that we were missing a few things on the DS-230 but Eliton plans on mailing out packet 3 by Monday - whether or not he receives the 3rd packet.
We want to make sure we have everything done correctly.

The blood tests/x-rays are done

I'm going to talk to my boss tomorrow and have a new letter written up as well as have the I-134 notarized.
Thanks for the support ladies!

So now I have to ask my boss to do it, but I don't think it'll be a problem.

JaJo, congrats on the NVC news!!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresVSC vs TSC?
DanNNina is right - it's beneficial to be honest throughout this process.
I understand that you want this process to move along quickly - we all do.
Like your fiance I live in Fl and so we send our applications to TSC but since they don't handle K1 visas (nor have been for a long time) then every case is immediately forwarded to CSC.
We waited 72 days (and that includes Thanksgiving break).
The (average) wait is not nearly as long as it used to be.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresVSC vs TSC?
I don't know - that sounds kind of shady.
Your fiance resides in Florida - not MA.
I was born and raised in NY but reside in Florida.
USCIS does not ask us where our parents live....nor what state our driver's license is from.

My experiece was similar to JaJo's. I waited almost a week, they responded - no case. I waited another week and got a positive answer! Getting a hold of NVC on the phone is really difficult (unless it's 11:55 p.m. EST) but e-mail seems to do the job. Good luck and CONGRATULATIONS!

There is a forum for NVC, you may have better luck there.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresQuestion 18: How you met.
I think Alex is right.
I did read a list of the questions that the consular asked a girl at her interview (in Brazil) on Tuesday. He asked how many times her fiance had visited her. She answered honestly: twice. He said ONLY TWICE??
But she got the visa.
I don't think it matters at all how many times you've seen her fiance, as long as you did.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresQuestion 18: How you met.
Ours was also short and sweet. I started with how we met, how long I was there and my last 2 trips (and length of time). My original letter was at least a page and I had a friend proofread it. She said "they don't care...", "take that out..", etc so it was better. I stuck to the facts.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresG-325A Biographic Information Question
Wow, I didn't know so many people experienced this. I called USCIS and they of course said to leave it blank....duh. Don't take that advice.

We wrote UNKNOWN because you can't write N/A or NONE - there is a father he is just unknown. We had no problems. We did send my fiance's BC as proof that only his mother's name is on it (no mention of a father). When we had it translated that part of the BC was left out. Only his mother and grandparents are listed.
Good luck!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresemails in foreign language - proof of relationship
We chose 5 of our many e-mails (all in Portuguese) and a friend of mine translated them for me. After each translation she wrote that blurb about how she is proficient in both languages....and signed and dated them. We submitted the translated e-mail with the Portuguese e-mail behind it. We had no problems - no RFEs.
We had plenty of other proof but we did send e-mails.
