K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresAfter NOA2 how do I track the status of my I129F?
Thanks.
I e-mailed the NVC and they responded once my case was forwarded to Rio and gave me my case number. I then called NVC at almost midnight to find out when my case was forwarded to Brazil.
You can always e-mail the embassy and ask if you're case has been received. Regardless they have to send your fiance packet 3 with instructions.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresName change question
I'm sure you can keep your last name - plenty of women do. You could also hyphen it - that is another option. I understand why someone said that it probably looks better if you change it but like I said, not all women want to. I do, but I know my sister is gettng married soon and isn't sure if she wants to. She also likes her full name. Some women with degrees in higher education or who marry later in life choose not to as well. It's up to you.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHow do you find out when Embassy receives packet from NVC??
Well said Joey.
This is my next step too so it's nice to read now.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedureslast question the ready to send
Use the ACCO fasteners. Punch 2 holes in the top of everything and fasten it together. That's what I did. I used a paperclip only to clip the pictures (in ziplock bags) to a piece of paper and the check to the cover letter.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresNOA2 -- does it say goes to NVC
Apparently a few other people have received their NOA2 stating their case is going to the embassy. There is a thread someone in the "NVC" forum - take a look. Either way I'm pretty sure everything has to pass through the NVC. It is pretty fast though.
Congrats on the NOA2.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresMight receive a RFE???
There is no sense in worrying because you don't know if you'll get an RFE. Remember that all applications mailed to Texas and Nebraska are automatically being forwarded to California (and this has been going on for months).
My fiance and I also forgot to write down our gaps (for unemployment) but we didn't receive an RFE for that - or for anything for that matter.
If you're really worried about something in particular and it would make you feel better you could prepare documentation for what you think the RFE may be for.
That way if you receive one you'll have everything ready to send quickly.

It's better to sit back and relax and wait for CSC.
Good luck.

You can take a look at my timeline for comparison if it helps.
My application was also sent to TSC.

Your receipt (NOA1) should come in a couple weeks from when you mailed it to Texas because it will be forwarded to California.

The pictures are 2 x 2 (or 5x5/5x7).
Don't forget that if you have a supplemental form for the G-325A then to send 4 since there are 4 of the G-325A forms.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresNVC K1 timeline
As Dan said, give it 2-3 weeks.
Five days after my I-129F was approved I sent an e-mail to NVC (NVCINQUIRY@state.gov) and they responded 2-3 days later that they had no record of my case. Don't forget to include that in your e-mail.
Another week later I sent NVC an e-mail (the same one) and it took them 4 days to respond. They told me that my case had been received and forwarded onto the consulate in Brazil.
They gave me my case number (RDJ2006XXXXXX) with their confirmation e-mail.
I then called NVC that night - late at night - to confirm all of this and when my case will be sent to Brazil. About another 4 days later I received the NVC letter in the mail (a standard letter) stating my case will be forwarded to Rio.
Good luck.
Just e-mail NVC and be patient. Call if need be but make sure you talk to someone. Calling at 11:30 p.m. is probably the best time.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures129f off in the mail it goes
The postman asked me if I was sending something of value (non-monetary) or something expensive. I told him :)
I believe I sent my application registered mail and it was on a Wednesday.
He said that when my package was received that I'd receive the green card (chuckles) back in the mail letting me know it was delivered.
You can also track it on-line.
So...if you send it tomorrow then it will probably arrive on Saturday (at TSC) and no one will be there to pick it up. So just be prepared to receive notice that it has arrived and there will be someone to get it early Monday morning.
I also live in Florida so I'd assume your timeframe could be like mine.
Good luck!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWhat should I do?
It's a personal decision. No one can decide but you and your fiance.
My fiance and I spent last Christmas/New Years holiday and the one before together and so it is very difficult for us to be apart now. In addition, this is the longest stretch we've had. However, I don't have much time away from work and I will be going to Brazil for the interview - so there is no way we can financially (and because of my limited personal days) afford to do both.
It looks like we'll have an interview in March so travelling in December is not feasible at this point.
You both have to decide what works best for you and your finances.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWhat Must I Do To Marry a Nigerian?
Unfortunately zyggy is right. Nigeria is considered a country with a lot of FRAUD. I saw it on Dr. Phil recently :( and then had a friend experience this 2 days ago.
I'd suggest posting more questions in the African Discussion here on VJ and ask people who have gone through this.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresConfusion on what to send/which & when after NOA2 to SO
Phew, another reason why I'm going to the interview with my man. I started to get things together today:
A copy of my I-129F packet
Pictures
Our NOA2
Paychecks
Letter from employer from beginning of the school year

I still need the I-134 form and other papers but we just began...still waiting for our case to arrive in Rio.
But it doesn't hurt to start now.

Yea, this seems so simple - I can't believe notaries are giving people problems.

I'd advice e-mailing NVC. I could never get a hold of anyone on the phone until almost midnight but e-mail worked. They take awhile responding but then our cases go through NVC so fast that they may respond to tell you that your case has already been forwarded to the embassy.

I don't think you have to show any proof of work in Costa Rica. You didn't pay taxes, did you?
I worked abroad from 8/04 to 6/05 and I don't have my pay stubs. I earned such a small salary for U.S. standards anyway.
As far as after that...not working - I don't have the answer but hopefully someone else does.
Good luck.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI-134 Question 7
Thanks you guys.
I don't need my car in addition to my salary because I make more than enough. I read a post recently where someone mentioned the car as an asset (I never thought of it as property) and thought since it's mine I can add it.
I never received the letter from my bank so I will include some on-line bank statements, my current savings account balance, paystubs, and a letter from my boss. I have a contract from the beginning of the school year (I'm a teacher) but I figured it wouldn't hurt to have an updated letter (with current paystubs).
Sound ok?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI-134 Question 7
I'm posting this here because I always have quicker responses than in the Embassy forum...
This is regarding the I-134 form about my property-

I bought a new car in the end of 2005. Should I put down the original cost of the car or do I have to find what it would be worth now?
I'm still paying it off - does that affect what amount I should state?

Also, this form asks how much money we have in our savings account. I requested a letter from my bank showing my average balance for the past year. Do I put down that amount (and use this letter as verification) or should I write how much I have as of today?

Thanks so much!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresJust sent in my I-129F for my russian fiancee today, what now ... ?
I can't say how it is in Russia but in Brazil there are only 3 approved "civil surgeons" in Rio de Janeiro. My fiance does not live there so he will be going to a medical exam 1-2 days before the interview.
As far as the blood tests/x-ray he was able to do them at a laboratory/hospital in his city and will bring those results with him to the medical right before his interview.
We had to ask the doctor first if he'd accept lab results from another doctor because some do not, but 2 out of the 3 doctors in Rio accepts them.
Hope this helps.

Good that you'll be filing soon.
My job isn't temporary - I work contract-to-contract at my school in this school district but next year will be my last year and I'll have tenure.
When the county gave me that letter it stated that I have been employed since XX/2005.
Even before last summer I received my offer to work this school year.
Enough proof of your current job (salary) along with supporting documents should be fine.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresso confusing!!!
Shrewdgal,
I'm not going to mention that I'm on an annual contract - and I don't know if that matters. Unfortunately, anyone can lose their job at any time, right? I mean, we're NOT temporary employers. In my case, probably yours, it is very difficult not to get a contract for the next school year. I will take the contract with me to the interview and if it's asked I'll answer. I don't see a need to file with a joint sponsor because we DO earn well enough above the poverty guidelines...and it'd be a pain, like you said.
I e-mailed my principal today with a copy of the letter and asked her to type it out on letter head. If she can't do it then I'll ask someone else - once she gives me an answer. Her secretary is out for the next 3 weeks otherwise I would have asked her.
I contacted someone in my county but he only gave me a half-### copy of what I asked for. I think it's better to ask the school.

Hope this helps.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresso confusing!!!
I'm a teacher too - 2nd year in the U.S. (I did one year in Brazil). I don't think we have to worry about the affidavit of support because we are currently earning enough and we can always show proof of graduating from college and that is why we didn't earn as much before.
I will be taking my tax returns to the interview with me as well as W2s and my contract from last year and this year (to show my raise) and that I've been employed since 9/2005.
I have my letter (and the listed contracts) from my employer and will be able to take my W2s from this year with me as well. I have pay stubs and bank statements and my life insurance policy.

Get together as much proof as you can that you earn enough, and remember you still have your W2s from this year to show that you earned above the poverty line for 2006.
I was told that what is most important is that your current salary is sufficient.
I hope this helps.
