Unfortunately since the USCIS publish processing dates still say July, most Senator's will not give you the time of day until you are past it.

Sad but true :(

If you were not working then write UNEMPLOYED.
As for your parents you can write DECEASED - that is what most people do.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresForgot to send form FC-029 w/ petition
We did send that form but a lot of people don't even know what it is - meaning they didn't send it.
Don't worry - you're fine - it is optional.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresDoes he has to??
Like they said - notary only.
Maybe your fiance should read the I-134 form - he'll understand it.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresLetter on Intent
I just made a few changes for punctuation:

I, Edinson Odeli Gonzales, do hereby state that I am legally able and willing to marry Yamilet Pimentel, and intend to do so within 90 days of my arrival into the United States using the K-1 visa.

Now yours should say:

I, Yamelit Pimentel, do hereby state that I am legally able and willing to marry Edinson Odeli Gonzales, and intend to do so within 90 days of his arrival into the United States using the K-1 visa.

I hope you don't mind I helped you out :innocent:

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresLetter on Intent
Proofread it because there seems to be an error. Make sure that you (the USC) write that you intend to marry your fiance upon HIS arrival in the country.
We left out the italics and red ink.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedureswhat to sign
I-129F is only for the USC to complete so only s/he needs to sign this.
I submitted an additional sheet for this declaration and did not sign it.
However, it made me nervous later when I realized (after I sent my appliction) that neither my fiance nor I had signed any supplemental forms.
We did NOT receive an RFE but I suggest to be safe - sign everything :star:

I know what you mean - but remember, there are no guarantees.
We were approved in 72 days and that was great...but from the NOA2 to the interview time flies.

The I-129F form is only for the USC so only s/he needs to sign it.
If there is a suplemental form then I'd recommend signing it.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresCan I fill in Fiance's G325A?
Yea, go ahead.
I filled out all of the forms for my fiance since he does not speak English and he just signed where I asked him to. I don't even think he asked me what he was signing because he knows that he'll do anything to be here with me.
I did discuss this process again and again and he read the guidelines in Portuguese.

Even now that we're preparing for our interview I'm completing the forms for him (as some are in English and others in Portuguese).
He is preparing to leave his home now so I don't mind doing it anyway - anything for love (L)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresMedical exam
As far as I know the civil surgeon cannot charge more than $100 (U.S.) but that may just be in Brazil.
The doctor my fiance will see must have used a different exchange rate because it's probably going to be about ten dollars more than that
The vaccines for him were free as well as the blood tests and x-rays. We were fortunate though because he looked for health care clinics that offer free vaccinations.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI'm a US Citizen and my Foreign Fiance is from Mexico
I know what you mean Kat. Brazil is a huge country - same size as the continental U.S. - yet only the consulate in Rio deals with immigrant visas. My fiance lives way in the north and has to fly almost 4 hours to get to the south for the interview. He has his medical scheduled and then the interview - we'll return to the U.S. together after that.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresProof of ongoing relationship
I copied the first page (with my name and photo) and then only the pages with stamps to Brazil.
I highlighted the date and the name "Brasil" to attract attention to that. I sent copies of my visas to Brazil as well - but only the visas that were relevant - from 2004 on - not the ones that I had before I met my fiance.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWill it be an RFE?
I think that datasage is right - that is what I was going to suggest - ask her to fix the error and sign the form.
That way you have it just in case you receive an RFE.

I know about South American mail but sometimes we're surprised. My fiance mailed me a letter a few months ago and it only took one week.
It'd probably be safer if she sent it to you ASAP - especially because you sent your petition to VSC.
bora boraFemaleBrazil2007-02-25 10:41:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWe made a mistake on a G-325a form and didnt realize til it was already sent...
I agree with Jim.
Ask your fiance to correct the potentional mistake and send it to you - that way you can mail the correction as soon as you get an RFE - if you do.

Otherwise just sit back and relax. Most people have the same doubts as you do - me included. Everything usually works out ok
We had no RFE.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresA few quick questions re: K-1 filing
1. My fiancee doesn't have a middle name, so on the 129F form am I correct to write "none" in that box (same thing regarding apartment #)?
We wrote N/A - my fiance has no middle name. You can do the same thing for apt.
2. For proof of relationship, neither of us kept any boarding passes, luggage tags, etc. - does anyone know of any way to retrieve this information or is that avenue pretty much a lost cause if nothing was kept?
Did you buy the plane tickets with a credit card? You could get that statment (or debit card - bank statement).
Another way to retrieve proof is if you received miles from these trips or if you used a travel agent - maybe they have proof.
3. Is the "Affadavit of Support" form submitted in the original pack with the I-129F and G-325A or at a later time?
The I-134 form is only for the interview - don't submit it now.

Thanks again, best of luck to everyone!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresTax Transcript
You may want to post a topic in the "Embassy" forum since taxes are submitted at the time of the interview.
Good luck.

(As far as I know - and I could be wrong - tax transcripts are used in place of tax returns).

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresTax Transcript
I'm not bringing tax trancscripts with me to my fiance's interview. I have my tax returns from 2004-2006 along with my W2s, letter from when I opened my bank account, last 5 paystubs, and my letter and contract from my employer.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresAny problems with attorneys?
I personally think you're throwing money away. I have heard horror stories about lawyers and we did it without - I never even thought of asking for legal help. Unless your case is NOT straight forward (the non-USC has convictions for example) I don't see the need.
VJ is a great site - people are extremely helpful and quick to respond.
A lot of us work full time - and long hours - and we still live and breathe the visa

Good luck with whatever choice you make.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresTourist Visa to China
Thanks so much! I'll pass this info on to her. I looked at the embassy's website and saw $50 but she can look further into this.
I'm sure that as her professor goes there every year he'll help them out more, but she didn't know anything yet - so I figured I'd ask for her.
She now lives in KY (from NY) and may have to look into applying via the mail or go to the embassy when she visits NY in May.
Anyway, I appreciate it and will e-mail her this response now

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresTourist Visa to China
Hi everyone! My sister is going to spend 5 weeks in China over the summer with her college professor and a group of students.
She told me that she's going to so "see Tibet, stay in Shaogun, & then go to Beijing".
Can you give me information about a tourist visa please? Should she apply for the single entry? Is it still $50?
Anything you can tell me would be great - we appreciate it.

Thanks.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresThings to use with packet
We used ziploc bags for our pictures.
I wrote "proof of meeting in last 2 years" on the 6 pictures of us.
I also put our passport size photos in these bags and wrote our full names on the bags with permanent black marker. There was one bag for each of us.
I attached each bag to a blank piece of paper.

I don't think there is a right or wrong way to assemble the package. You seem to be on the right track - organization is key.

I'm not sure, I guess you can experiment and/or check out Wal-mart. I just went to the store and found what looked for the best for me - some kind of colorful tabs.
Do whatever works best for you. I hope you send out your packet soon - good luck

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresThings to use with packet
I used those ACCO fasteners - thought they were great. I punched 2 holes onto the top of my packet.

I bought mini-post-it notes but decided not to use them - thought there'd be too many and they'd either fall off and/or be bent by the time my packet arrived. Instead I created 2 cover letters (one for proof of meeting & the other for ongoing relationship) along with the I-129F cover letter. I labeled everything very neatly.
Our packet was very organized.
