K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresTiming of e-mail
I received the NOA2 e-mails a bit after 1 a.m. on a Thursday. Once I got those I checked my status and there had been a touch the day before (the Wed).

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresFiancee - technically when from USCIS perspective?
I believe that once you apply for the fiance(e) visa you're engaged - ring or no ring.
Do you agree?
I bet that's what USCIS thinks too - seeing as K1 is a fiance(e) visa.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresFiancee - technically when from USCIS perspective?
Good question.
Some couples have had formal engagements - while others have just decided to get married.
Hmmmm :innocent:

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresMarking up evidence of meeting
I highlighted our names/e-mail addresses/important dates/flight numbers/the city we lived in/the country...anything that corresponded with what we wrote in our letter of meeting in the past 2 years.
We highlighted our names together on any document, proof I was living/working in the city we met in, the stamps in my passport (to differentiate from other stamps to other countries).
I didn't go highlight crazy because I was assuming that USCIS would read what I sent. If there was anything that I really wanted to stand out - or that was relevant to other proof - I let them know :innocent:

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresFiancee - first name
If it's just a nickname than it's a good idea to make a note on your application.
My fiance uses a nickname on his e-mail (although the address itself has his name in it). Consequently, I made a note on the translation of each e-mail that it is a psedonym he uses on his e-mail.
It wasn't a big deal - we receive NO RFEs.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresIs the fiance VISA the quickest option?
I was told they're about the same. We opted for the K1 because I hate being apart from my fiance - it seems worse (to me) to be apart from a husband. the K1 visa process is annoying but it could be worse.
Either one is :crying:

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresAge?
I'm 25 and my fiance 23 and a good friend of mine made a comment last summer about us being young to get married....and we lived together for 7 months. She knows us well but she made a mistake at a young age and wants to look out for us.
If it's right for you then that is what matters. Good luck!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresMaling I-129F today, One question
I would include any information about where you had met - it doesn't matter the country.
As far as you staying with family, and not in a hotel, that is fine to include. I lived in Brazil (where I met my fiance) and then when I went back I stayed with a friend and then him. I had roommates while living there and no rent receipts but it wasn't necessary to prove that because I had proof that I worked there.
We only have one hotel receipt from one trip we took out of town together and I sent that.

Don't leave anything blank - USCIS may assume you forgot something. Write N/A if it is not applicable.
As far as employment - don't leave any lapses - it's common for people to take breaks - especially students or those that study abroad.
You can write UNEMPLOYED and the dates that correspond to your answer.
I don't think they once ask the USC about our education.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresPictures
We sent 6 pictures - dating back from when we first met in '04.
I have a scrapbook now for the interview but since I'm attending with my fiance I don't know that they'll ask to see it.
bora boraFemaleBrazil2007-02-17 07:53:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresphotos without date printed on them
I only sent 6 pictures with my I-129F application. Each picture had our names, date, and location written on the back.
For the interview I've made a scrapbook (which is not too long). I'm please with the outcome, and even if the consular doesn't look at it (I'll be attending the interview with my fiance) it's a great memoir for us.

I made it more for us than for the interview but it's "proof".

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresG325A and I 129F help needed please
Just make sure you don't leave any blanks - write N/A if not applicable and you can write "see attached sheet" on the forms and include a supplemental form (just label it).
I don't think it's a problem if you write the street name and no number if you can't remember.
Good luck!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresProof of on-going relationship
For I-129F? I think only one, but yes it can be in color. Just make sure that if the instructions ask for a white background that she has one - and that it's the right size.
I'd suggest checking the instructions, I can't remember.. :innocent:

Thanks for your remark about the interview. We're ecstatic - meeting up in Rio in 19 days!!!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresProof of on-going relationship
I separated our "proof" into 2 categories: meeting in past 2 yrs and ongoing relatonship. You could do that.
I sent a bit of each - for the meeting in past 2 yrs:

Copy of Brazilian visas from passport
Copy of Stamped entries into Brazil
Copy of teaching certificate from Brazil
Copy of both sides of Brazilian residency card with translation
Copy of Flight Coupons and Itinerary from latest trip
Receipt from hotel and business card with translation
Pictures (6) from 2004 until the present

As for ongoing relationship, I sent 5 emails with translations, phone cards, online receipts for calling cards, phone bill, birthday card, letter from a friend with translation, etc.

I've heard it's not a good idea to send Western Union receipts because that doesn't show a relationship....it shows that money was sent from one person to another and may be suspicious.
I'm NOT saying that it is - but only what I've read.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresProof of on-going relationship
I guess you can't really.
I sent copies of used phone calls and some of them said "Mexico" on them - as the best rates are to Mexico....hahaha. Along with these I sent phone bills (to Brazil) and proof that I had bought a prepaid calling card PIN (through a Brazilian website) which show my login/password as containing our names.

I think we have to do the best we can with what we have. This can always be considered secondary proof - what is most important is that you met in the past 2 years. The proof of ongoing relationship is more for the interview.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresGood idea to submit I-134 with I-129F or not?
Why would you want to send that now? I don't understand.
USCIS does not ask for that document - it's bad enough to get I-129F and G-325A and all the other supplemental information sent.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWhen can fiance visit his country?
He can apply for Advanced Parole - I think it takes about a couple months (maybe 2).
I know someone who did this because her mother was sick.
I don't know much about it but you can research it...

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresQuestion 18 (how you met your fiance) Sample
You need to definetly talk about how you met in person but I'd start off with how you met initially.
In order to be eligible for the k1 visa you have to have met in person in the past 2 years so that is why you need to include that.

I just wrote that we met on xx date in xx place and that I was living there. I gave the date I left Brazil, the date I returned, and for how long my stay was. My last paragraph was of my last trip and the dates I was there.
No extra info - just facts and dates (they correspond with my proof of having met in the past 2 years).

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresQuestion 18 (how you met your fiance) Sample
hahaha, it's true, just tell how it happened.
i wouldn't include all of the "lovey dovey" details. give dates, places, etc. and you'll be answering the question. most people don't seem to write more than a page (if that).

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresTranslating Emails for...
We only sent 5 e-mails with our I-129F, so if it's easier you could just send the e-mails in English.
Otherwise everything that you send to the USCIS needs to be in English - or in the original language WITH the translation (not done by you or your fiance).

When it comes to the interview your documents can be in English and Spanish but not when dealing with the USCIS. Sorry.
We had to have all of our documents translated.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresIs this good enough
Both of you submit the letter of intent and both of you fill out the G-325A.
The letter (or paragraph/sentences) of how you met is part of the I-129F form which only the USC completes.

I wrote 3 paragraphs because we lived together in Brazil and I returned 2 times (once for 2 months), but I left out all of the lovey dovey stuff.

Isn't this for the I-129F form?
If so then you don't need a "his" version. Only the USC signs this form so you can say "we met..."
