K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures	Interview and very limited English	My fiance doesn't speak English and in Brazil the interviews are usually in Portuguese, I guess you can request English. I'm not worried at all, nor should you be, if Russia is like Brazil. However, I am fluent in his language and we can show that is how we communicate. K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures	K-1 translation of proof	I wanted to submit one letter (statement) with the translations, but my friend, the translator, thought it better to submit that statement with each translation. It does not have to be certified. I think it'd be fine to submit one letter - but that is my opinion. Sometimes, however, it is better to be safe than sorry. Melinka, I'm sorry, I don't if you're the USC or not. The affidavit of support (I-134) that is submitted at the time of the interview has to be completed by the USC, not the foreign fiance. K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures	K-1 translation of proof	All documents sent to the USCIS for the I-129F application need to be translated into English. They do not however need to be done by a professional. After that person translates each document s/he needs to sign and date a statement saying they are proficient in both languages. There is an examples of that statement (which we used) here on the VJ website. Only for the interview do you not have to translate Russian language documents. We sent 5 e-mails/one letter/proof I lived in Brazil along with translations and that statement/signature by the translator for everything. No problems - no RFEs. K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures	how long before interview should you get medical exam	My fiance cannot do this medical exam too far in advance because he has to travel to Rio (where the interview is - there are no civil surgeons where he lives). His exam is 4 days before the interview. Some people wait until the day before but that makes me nervous. He has already done the blood tests/x-ray in his hometown (which is ok). Some people have been given a hard time by the consular because they do not include their fiance on the tourist/student visa when they apply. And then when they interview for the K1 visa it comes up. CSC themselves misspelled the name of my friend's fiance on their NOA1 so she just called and had to verify (over and over again) that it was her. She did not have to mail in anything. The same person who translated our e-mails and letters translated the receipt. I'm fluent in both languages but USCIS says that someone who cannot benefit from the relationship (ie. you or your fiance) has to translate. It does however, not have to be done by a professional. I also sent a cover letter for the entire package and then one for the proof of meeting and one for the ongoing relationship. I think it was very neat and organized. We had the same problem and had to print out a blank copy and I completed the form again and again until I was pleased. They give you a PIN number and you can recharge it automatically, on-line, or even over the phone. I get pretty good talk time considering I'm NOT calling Rio and my fiance has only a cell phone. I sent: - used prepaid calling cards (with pictures of Mexico on them - hahahaha) - my AMEX statements showing I bought on-line calling cards (a PIN number) - a phone bill from a landline - with calls to Brazil highlighted - an e-mail receipt from the on-line calling cards showing our username and password (which are mixtures of our names and symbols) I also sent 5 translated e-mails, a letter from a friend, and one translated letter (a birthday card).	bora bora	Female	Brazil	2007-01-12 19:25:00

I'm sorry but you have to send your package to Texas. We cannot choose which service center we deal with. As of now, all cases receieved by Texas and Nebraska are being forwarded to California, so there are only 2 service centers that deal with K1s. Most people start doubting themselves after they send out the paper work but I think it's better to wait.
