I'm a Sept filer so we're far beyond this, but I still appreciate it. Gary did it for us and I looked forward to seeing the updates.

The timelines look much better, fwaguy, than the first week - what an improvement. Congratulations!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresSurprise! Surprise! Surprise!!!!!
AngelD, what you said was very insightful and touching. I'm grateful that my fiance is anxious and excited to move here. Just tonight he said how he is ready to get out of his town and leave already. What a relief!
We're ecstatic!!

I've already made my comment about how I'd never let my other half slip away...I have nothing left to say

Wow, you're taking this very well.
If my fiance called me and told me he wasn't coming I'd DIE and then move to Brazil to be with him!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresGot our NOA!
It's true, you can organize your proof (e-mails/letters/pictures) for the interview. You can familiarize yourself with the forms for packet 3 and the interview.
I made a scrapbook of our pictures and will be taking it with me to meet my fiance for his interview.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresIt's been awhile...
Hi Everyone!!

I'm back in the U.S. with my man!!!!
The interview was a piece of cake - the consular talked to me in English and then interviewed my fiance in Portuguese. He only asked him a few questions and then directed a couple to me. He basically wanted to know our "timeline". When my fiance told him we lived together he seemed satisfied. I made a scrapbook and he asked to see pictures - so I showed him the whole thing. It was nice. There was a window between us but I opened up the book and showed him everything - we explained it in Portuguese.
A friend who was waiting outside said we were in there for 6 minutes.
Two days later we picked up his visa and then 3 days later we were back in the U.S.
He's moving in now - it's sooooo great!!!

Let me know if I can help anyone. Good luck to you all!!
Rio de Janeiro was a DREAM.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresSo surreal...
Things will be fine!
These feelings are completely normal. I was very nervous about the trip, immigration, etc., but things went very smoothly.
It's so nice now.

As far as the x-rays: my fiance had this in his carry on but I can't imagine the immigration officer ever asking for it. He was too obsessed with the 2 last name bit....
not the brightest of them all I have to say.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresSo surreal...
My man and I were separated for 8 months while we were working on the visa. However, as soon as we were back together again it felt as if not even a day had gone by.
It's soooooo nice to be living together in the U.S. I don't care that my apt isn't as clean as it used to be ;) because he's here!! It's going to be great Angela. Enjoy every second of it - and you both will.

Congratulations!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWill age difference matter?
I agree with everyone else.
In addition to their comments - your age difference is not that great.

I know there was a girl at the interview on the same day as us who said she was interviewed for awhile because her fiance is much older than her. But they had a lot of proof of relationship.
They were approved too!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresNebraska CS to California...How bad is it?
All cases sent to Texas and Nebraska are being sent to California. I mailed out our I-129F package on 9/6 to Texas and we received our NOA1 (along with our check cashed) on 9/18.
It was probably delayed about a week. Not tooooo bad.
Good luck with your process.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresTranslations
Anything and everything you send to the USCIS needs to be translated into English.
At the interview you can bring proof of relationship in either Spanish or English - any other language would have to be translated.

I called USCIS and was told that I could not translate the documents since I was the petitioner, but I know that plenty of other couples have translated e-mails, letters, BCs, etc. themselves.
Regardless, you should include a statement telling USCIS you are competent in both languages.

We had a professional translate my fiance's BC.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresFor I-129F birth certificate
If you don't have a BC you could send the beneficiary's passport.
We sent both.
I know that nowhere does it say in the directions we needed to send the BC. However, I wanted to show who he was. Also, I wrote that his father was unknown - so I thought it better to send a copy of the translated BC as consistency because his BC only has his mother's name.

I agree that it makes no sense that USCIS does NOT ask for the BC - yet there have been people who have received RFEs for NOT including it. Where is the consistency?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresanybody had a problem with the birthcertificate b4?
Congratulations!
That is your NOA2 (now you can update your timeline if you haven't already).
Your NOA1 is the receipt that your case was received by USCIS and that is when your check is cashed.

If you don't have a passport you have to get it now. It is not much longer before you have to send copies of it to the consulate in your country.

Btw, your NOA2 is the date that USCIS sent you the e-mail of approval. Congrats again!!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresanybody had a problem with the birthcertificate b4?
The NOA1 is the receipt that your I-129F packet was received by USCIS. NOA2 is the approval letter.
Which did you receive?
If it was the NOA1 then you probably have a couple months (if filing with CSC) before you receive your NOA2.
If you received the NOA2 then your case will soon be forwarded to the NVC then to the consulate.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresGrrr! Trubble with the I-134 form in Adobe!
When completing this form I had a problem with my employer name because it is too long to fit in the space they give.
Therefore, I left it blank and wrote it in neatly in black ink. I had no problem at the interview - and the CO looked at my form and made a comment about my profession.

I'm sure there won't be a problem if you leave it blank and then write it in like I did.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresCover Letter & Package Organization Questions
I used the standard cover letter found here and then I created 2 more - one for our proof of meeting and other for ongoing relationship.
For each of those last 2 cover letters I was more specific: Brazilian passport copies, copy of visa, copy of itinerary, etc.

It's up to you though.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresstudent visa rejection
You must always tell the truth - and it will probably be brought up at the interview. However, it doesn't seem to be a problem (although I know that each consulate is different).
This has happened to plenty of people applying for the K1 visa.
I wouldn't worry too much about it - just be honest.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresdeclaration of how you meet in person in last two years
I wrote SEE ATTACHED SHEET on my I-129F form and included about a page explaining how/when/where we met, that we lived together in Brazil - including all dates. I then explained the next 2 times we met (in Brazil) and gave those dates as well.
The last paragraph just said we decided not to continue with a LDR, but rather for him to move to the U.S. and get married :) (the best part).
We had no RFEs and were approved in 72 days at CSC.

Give facts and dates - leave out the lovey dovey stuff :).

NOA1 is the receipt of your petition - therefore it is the date that USCIS receives/processes your application into their system.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresfirst NOA
It took us 72 days to be approved at CSC - and that was over Thanksgiving day break.

Congratulations on your NOA1 and on the receipt number. You'll receive a case number when the NVC mails your petition (after approval) to the consulate.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresmet in person and ongoing relationship
We had one cover letter for meeting in person within the last 2 years, and another for ongoing relationship. They are related, but at the same time different.
For ongoing relationship we sent e-mails, letters, copies of phone bills, used calling cards, an itinerary, plane ticket stubs, etc.

I think that part is important - especially for couples who met for the first time a long time ago. We lived together in Brazil, but I returned two times, so I sent a bit of everything.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresevidence..s enough?
thanks for your advice... my fiance told me all time to dont worry so much but i relly dont want an RFE, i know is not a visa deial but it would take more time to get to my baby..and what matters to me is to finish with this as soon as possible..i dont know now..im confused..everybody told me that i dont have enough evidences, and i need more..i dont know what to do now...
You know what? I think people like you and me who met their fiances in real life and lived with them for a long time and had long distance relationship shouldn't have problems. I met my fiance 3 years ago, and after we had 1.5 year of long distance relationship with my fiance, and we hope that it can be very strong evidence for Texas SC people. I think the same for you.

My fiance and myself have read very carefully the instruction USCIS put on I-129F and added everything they asked. But reading some topics here I see how people put many documents are nor reguired by USCIS, and when I asked them why they tell me: if you don't they will send you RFE. OK, if they send we will send them what they need as we are not scared.

Don't worry  Just believe in positive things and anyway I didn't read any message telling: USCIS didn't prove my petition as they prove.

Good luck!
;)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresevidence..s enough?
Please don't worry about that!

I met my fiance in September 2004. He lived in Kazakhstan (my home country) as a Peace Corps Volunteer. July 2005 his service was finished so he needed to go back to US. After that I visited him 4 times and he visited me 1 time. So on 8 March (2 weeks ago) he proposed me when I went to visit him in US. We even set the date of our wedding. (15 December 2007).

While I was visiting him we collected all paperwork for K-1 visa. Tommorow he plans to send everyting to Texas SC.

We worried a lot about what we need to put as an evidence, and finally we decided to add: our pictures (out trips to Egypt, Puerto-Rico, my visits to US, his visits to Kazakhstan), our telephone bills, and copy of airtickets, E-mails, postcards.

Finally we understood that we worry toooooo much about all this staff. We met each other in real life. We have 3 years of relationship and we are engaged!

my thoughts for you is not to think too much of it or you will get crazy. I belive that people who work there know their work with 100%.

Good luck!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresCrying!
I completely agree with this. We aren't as far along in this process, but considering where we are filing, it's a much longer wait, and I am having a great deal of stress over preparing docs in advance for the interview, stupid I-134...we all have stress, and are missing our fiance(e)s...but when you see that people who get to file at Vermont (no offense) get through this process so much faster, and even worry when their NOA2 takes a little longer...it just makes it that much harder. I haven't cried yet. But I get frustrated when I think of all the things that could hold up the process (ie RFE) I could cry...I definitly also HATE the feeling of putting my future in the hands of the government. That said, hang in their everyone!
I agree! Tommorrow we will send all visa paperwork to Texas Service Center. I am so exited! I looked the processing times page and you can see how Vermount is so quick! I think it is not right, but what can we do? We looked Texas Service Center chart and understood that we actually made right decision - we just decided to anounce our wedding date as 15 December 2007. As we know that Applying in March via Texas Center I will get Fiancee visa only in September.

We are together 3 years, but we still to prove putting so many private things as copies of our E-mails.

But let's see how long we will have all this Fiancee visa journey :hehe:

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresCrying!
Oh my God!!! I know what you mean! My fiance always tells to our friends: we need to do so many things before marriage. For me to go through all this training before you become a austronaut is easier than all this paperwork!!!

I cry almost everyday as we already know that all this will take minimum 7 moths before i will get in US. My finace will send all papeerwork tommorow (Yeah!), but it took 2 months to collect everything! and we already know that if we submit 20 March 07 I will get Fiancee visa about September 07 :-(

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresMARCH FILERS- Texas Service Center
I know that :) But anyway as a Florida resident my fiance sends all paperwork to Texas Service center, and i am sure when TSC forwards our paperwork to CSC they have TSC alocated people. I don't think that US Government just put more work for the same number of people in CSC. Anyway my Fiance and myself already know that applying now I will get Fiancee visa August-September. It is even better. We anounced our wedding date as 15 December since I plan to enter US in October (60 days before wedding).

I also have a commitment with my job till October and anyway I don't care to wait 7 months as i know that I am going to spend the rest of my life with my future husband and these 7 months are simply small things

:)

If your talking about filing a I-129F then Texas doesn't process those anymore. They are all going to California Service Center (CSC). Since that's where mine is at, and seeing the CSC history, I recommend going to the pharmacy and getting a three month supply of patient pills since that's about average time for the NOA2 out of CSC. Good things are worth waiting for!!!!!!!!!!!

Dear March filers - Texas Service Center I would like to wish all of us GOOD LUCK! I was reading Vermont Chart and decided to compare with Texas one (my Fiancé is a resident of Florida)- and my question is WHY???

Oh well, let see how long Texas Service Center will take us. Let’s exchange our experience and I believe it will help all of us to relax and be patient. Anyway, as I always tell to my Fiancé, it is just few months apart and after we gonna be together for the rest of our life.

We are on the same boat

Good luck

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresMailing Address vs. Home Address (again)
Hello there!
I know what you mean. I had the same problem. My fiance is an American and I am a Kazakh (Kazakhstan). I put as my address my mailling address (my work address) as my private one is not safe at all, but when they asked to put address of residence I put my home address.

I know it is so complicated, but we decided not to think of all these dificulties and simply put what we think is correct.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresPLEASE HELP!!!

Obviously there was no receiver present to receive the package. Wait it out. If they return it to you, then you just have to resend it.

Thank you! But how it can be possibel? I guess our adventure starts from here

It is so simple- just to deliver. My fiance tells "We send on P.O. Box (how I-129F instructions tell you) so may be it means that nobody should sing for it", but again??? I am so confused and so upset

I saw this topic and I thought the end of the world was happening! Relax Elmira. After traveling to many different places all over the world, I can say with 100% certainty the US Postal system is much better than any other place I've encountered. If it was sent to the wrong address, it will be sent back. In that case, you've only lost a few days. Things will be fine. Someone will sing for it if it's made it to where it needs to go. ;)

I know that I need to relax, but believe me that I have been in so many countries as well and can say that US bureaucracy it the most complicated that in other counties- we have to do so many things just to marry! When in UK Fiancée visa takes 3 weeks (I work for British Government), in my country 30 days! But thank to everyone for your support and I promise that I will relax.
