Hi Vann!

I bought my ticket from my travel agent in the Philippines last April and it cost us USD 895.00 plus Php 1620.00 travel tax. My route was MANILA to LAX then LAX to Jacksonville and I used Philippine Airlines and Delta. I entered with K1 Visa without any problem. LAX POE interview was very smooth. They usually asked same questions as the Manila USE interview. That's my experienced till my AOS interview.

I suggest let her buy the ticket in the Philippines because its much cheaper. Just tell her to search for at least 3 travel agents and compare the prices.

Relax smile.gif her visa is good for 6 months so its ok you have lots of time to prepare for her homecoming.

God Bless

Thanks for your help! I noticed by your timeline your arrival in the US was April and you said you bought the ticket in April. What date did you buy it? I'm asking because my baby is coming at the end of January and she probably won't be able to buy the ticket until the end of December. I'm just worried about cost differences in waiting a month or less before the flight.

Thank you very much!

If you bought the ticket a month early I'm sure its less expensive. I am in a waiting list from March and the agent just got the booking a week before I left. Its summer vacation in the Philippines March to June (peak season). They say the cheapest month to travel to USA is February and September. December and January is peak season too because most of balikbayan's wants to spend christmas and new year holiday in PI.

I didn't want to go out just to purchased itinerary so my SO did the booking for me at Philippines airlines (http://www.philippineairlines.com)No one give me any hassles.

It was peak season from March and April and all the travel agents I contacted says fully booked so I tried to book direct to Philippine Airlines yes they can put you at any date you like but the problem they don't have connecting flight if you didnt buy the ticket to a travel agent. PAL only fly Manila to LAX and San Francisco. Besides the price was doubly high. The PAL customer service agent says they recommend you use travel agent so you can ask for discounts. E-ticket is now commonly use for international flights in NAIA.

Travel agents are all over the Philippines specially in the malls. Make sure she demand No connecting flights as much as possible specially if she will travel alone.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresQuick questions to start the process
QUOTE (Nineta @ Oct 30 2007, 04:40 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Hola,

Just a quick question. We're almost ready to send the package today and we're wondering whether we need to send the Declaration of how we met: it's the single typed page attachment regarding question 18 of the I-129F.

Do we actually need that or we should be fine with pictures and flight itineraries?

Any feedback would much appreciate to start the process TODAY! Yay!

Best,

Nineta

From experience it is very important to sent the statment of how you guys met. It will save you time in your whole process. Good Luck...

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedureswhat happens after NOA2 approval
I recently had my I-129f approved. I called up USCIS and asked what my next steps are. And they said they forward the petition to the US interest section in Havana. For some strange reason, I thought the petition would be sent to the National Visa Center here in the United States. I waited two weeks after the initial approval and call up the US interest section and they told me that the petition for my finance has not arrived. Can anyone share there experience (particularly Cuban petition filers). Did the petition go directly to the U.S. interest section in Havana or to the national visa center?, and how long did it take for the U.S interest section to received the papers send by USCIS?. Thanks guys......

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresNVC sent the petitioners incorrect date of birth to embassy
Hello All,

I called up the NVC yesterday and they forwarded my case to the U.S. interest section in Havana on Nov 19, that’s great news and I am very happy to hear that. But I found out that my date of birth was log in incorrectly and they sent that wrong date of birth to the embassy. For security reason, NVC couldn’t tell me the incorrect day of birth or change it because the case had been forwarded to the embassy Has anyone experience this? What can I do to change my date of birth to the correct one? Or does it matter if I didn’t update that info because all the beneficiary info is all correct? I’m not sure if I should try to contact the embassy and change it because that my slow down the process, I don't think the embassy is going to worry about my date of birth, It's my beneficiary info that they are going to look at, well that is what I suspect. Any advice would be helpful. Thanks guys.

I don't think you could set up appointment until the consulant recieves your case from the NVC.

There are quite a few consulates who schedule interviews months in advance - for example, there was a huge waiting list for an interview at the Montreal consulate which stretched a good six to eight months ahead.

Was there a reason offered for why they weren't scheduling interviews currently?

Thanks guys for your replies.
The person i spoke to at the embassy couldn't give me a reason for such a long wait for the interview. I will look into the matter closer, i will be in havanna soon and will try to investigate. I will keep everyone posted. Thanks again.

The Good new is i have set up a date for the interview. The bad news is, it is 7 months from now. Right now, they are not scheduling any appointments in Havanna for any visa interviews, and the U.S. interest section gave me a number to call to set up interview appointment. I call the number and the earlies date they could give me is June 2, 2008. I almost had a heartattack when they told me that. Does anyone out there know if it's possible to get an earlier date for the interview in Havanna.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresNOA2 question?
It means that the approval expires after four months. But the CO can extend it if it takes more than 4 months to be interviewed. This can be done automatically, but I think some VJers had to call the embassy and made sure that they extend it. I would call if I were you, just to be in the safe side.
Anyway, you have nothing to worry about. It happens all the time.
Just call and make sure they do that.

Good luck

You've already prolonged your petition adjudication. They will send you an RFE sometime in the months ahead, which you'll have to reply and the process continunes. Good luck!!

That's just rediculous. I signed with black ink because it's stated on the form and got approved. I don't see how they can think a signature is not original unless the way you signed it looks as if it is in a printed format, which I highly doubted. This is unfortunate because they will process your case as if they just received it from new. mad.gif

Yep, I would be affraid to sign in black again. The most aggravating thing is, I sent the paperwork in a nice neat binder, numbered partitions to make it easy for them too find everything. I get it back, no binder, papers out of order and for what ever reason , my pictures were not in the plastic ziplock bags, they were in an envelope, and all this was shipped in a ripped beat up envelope!! headbonk.gif

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresQuestions about after visa has been approved..
If I´m right and you´ve your K1 on your hand I don´t see any problems if you want to begin your new life with her, I mean, all you have to do is to cross the border.

I´ve no idea about your car insurance issue unsure.gif , I could help you with spanish cars insurances devil.gif but by the time I don´t have so much information of american car insurance´s politics.

And about working with K1 Visa..., as I´ve read here before in another threads, "technically" we can, but at least in my case, when i get there (soon i hope), I won´t have a SSN so I think it´s almost impossibly have an employment without one.

The logical step should be to get there, marry with her as soon as you can, and apply for an AOS+EAD, because during the AOS is been processed, they will "give" to you an EAD (45-90 days after you fill them).

Hope it helps... and congratulations!!!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresPolice Report
QUOTE
Depends on the validity of the police report. It can be anywhere from 3 months to 1 year. Your police reports need to be valid when you have your interview.

It seems that also depends on the country, here in Spain the present police report doesn´t have written validity, they told me that time ago was 6 months, but now depends on to whom is going to be delivered, so i don´t know how much time the spanish embassy will request since you take it unsure.gif .

But whatever they may consider, I already have it in my hands, I know we are still in the middle of the journey, but you know, while you´re doing this such things.... you forget that after 109 days we still doesn´t have our NOA2 blink.gif

Thanks all !!!, well Jeraly let´s hope they don´t mind this time right?? whistling.gif , we even sent things that wasn´t neccesary...

And yes Karin und Otto, we will never forget US standard is 5x5cm innocent.gif ... we´re going to take new photographs, so if they consider this must be a RFE, we can send as quickly as possibly.

Thanks all again.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresBig Mistake with the photographs
Well we´re very angry and sad because we´ve realized that we sent the wrong size of passport-photograph crying.gif , we sent in the size we use to take to official organism here in Spain, so they´re smaller than US kind..., we also sent another one but is bigger than 5x5cm, (the biggest we sent was like 10x6 or something like that)... unsure.gif

So what can we do now??, we´ve been already 90 days waiting, and this will suppose a RFE with no doubt, and I´m afraid that this will take 1 month more because I suppose that as they check that there´s something wrong with the attachments, they won´t even open a "file" for us and let the photo till the end, I think they won´t do nothing until we send the correct photos

So if someone is ready to send it....don´t forget to check this before, mainly if you´re in Europe where things are a little bit smaller

Well I suppose we won´t get our NOA2 this month anyway.... huh.gif

Ok, I think I have posted my question on the wrong thread. So, I will start over. I think that a lot of comments were already posted about the evidence of couples met each other within two years. But, I have and additonal question about documents that I sent.

I used to be an international student at American university. I graduated from my BA last september.

My fiance and I have been long distance since then due to visa process. Now, we sent our petition with my passport copies including all stamped pages, last three boarding passes, and I-20 copies from my university. I went back and forth from US to Japan for many times during my college years like visitng my families. And this september, he finally came to Japan to meet my family.

Well, I sent only the evidence that I have been to the US many times. He visited me after we sent our I-129f. I wonder if both of us have to sent our boading pass, passport copies etc. And I did not have tickets anymore. All I had was boading passes, but since I was not a tourist and I was being a F1 student for 4 years, the immigration should have my data already. I wonder if my USC fiance has to send his evidence additionally.

The last question is that, my USC fiance included my school documents from university, and transcripts, etc. I understand that USCIS already has my data on SEVIS system, but he wanted to make sure that I was a legal F1 student and lived with him because all the letters from school were mailed to his house because I was living with him. BUT, HE FORGOT TO HIGH LIGHT THE ADDRESS PART. I am sure that an office might be confused about his sending weird admission letters of mine and all other documents. Are we gonna be denied if we send unnecessary papers? I was told by a lawyer that it is good to send whatever the official documents that I received in the US which show that I was in the US. Boading passes and stamps on my passport WILL prove that I was in the US, but DO NOT prove that I was with him or in the same location at that time. So it is good to send all the info. Please anyone give me advice.

Sorry for this crazy long comment crying.gif helpsmilie.gif helpsmilie.gif helpsmilie.gif

There is VERY little chance you wil be denied on the original petition if you showed proof of meeting each other in the last 2 years.
Even with the unnecessary things you sent in.
May confuse them a little tho but they should be able to weed thru it. They just want to see you have met and your other documents are in order!

I think you will be okay. I recieved an RFE and had to further prove of our meeting. I sent USCIS pretty much what I sent the first time. I sent them a copy of my passport with the visa stamps, bank statements showing my purchases of airline tickets, purchases of hotel stay and dated photos of me and my fiance. The RFE prolonged the process about 2 weeks. They might request that your U.S. fiance provide a copy of his passport and visa stamp. Good Luck

The RCMP can provide a Canada-wide police certificate for the time that he stayed in Canada.

If he's outside Canada, he can mail a set of fingerprints to the RCMP and they can do a background check - that can take a few months so be best to do it ASAP.

If he's in Canada right now, he can go to the local RCMP detachment and get it done there. If he doesn't have a criminal record, usually they just do a name check and it takes much faster.

Hello all who read this!
I am new to the forum and have a question about police records. I sent off the I295F and received the NOA1.
My fiance is trying to start and collect info/ police records.
He lived in Canada for 2 years for schooling. In his brief search so far, he was told he had to go to the local police office in Langley, British Columbia (near Vancouver) to obtain those records.
Has anyone ever had experience with it and has some advice?and do they know if he will truly have to make a trip there?

You have received good advice here.
When my husband applied for his green card he also applied for his work permit (in the case that his green card takes awhile to get here).
If your (to be) wife decides she wants to go home to visit before her green card is issued, then she can apply for Advanced Parole.
Just make sure you get married within 90 days. The sooner you get married the sooner you can apply for her residency.

And as you were told - the K1 fiance visa is an immigrant visa - not a tourist visa.
