K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresTraveling to US together once fiance visa is granted

You can travel with your fiance to the US once the visa is issued.

Thanks for the reply. by the way I have been to lawrance many times. Used to live in Kansas smile.gif. I think that question is refering to people from her home country/family memebers. So it should be ok to travel along with fiance into US.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresTraveling to US together once fiance visa is granted
I was wondering if its allowed to travel to US with your fiance once the visa is granted. According to the sample DS 156k form Question 34. it says "Names and relationships of persons traveling with you" and sample form is suggesting to put "none" for that question. So now if you put none then that means no one is traveling with fiance. If you put yes that may voilate the K-1 policies. Please clarify.

Hi everyone, my question is this. My fiance lived in Hong Kong when I met her, she now is back at home in the Philippines. Does anyone know if she can go to the U.S. Embassy in the Philippines and take care of this? How do you get this clearance? Thanks Glenn and Cathy

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedureshow many months of phone bills are required?
Hi~

I am putting my K-1 visa package together and have a question. I am enclosing copies of my phone bills to prove we communicate regularly and is a bill from every 3 to 6 months sufficient or should I include every month? Each bill is about 7 pages and to send one from each month just seems like overkill or should I send too much info?

Thanks in advance! I stumbled across this website tonight and have found so much of the info helpful!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresTouched on Sunday?
I know that "No news is good news" -- I don't want a RFE but it was pretty exciting to see that someone was physically handling our packet! I'm just excited bacause it seems like there have been a lot of approvals in 2 to 3 months so the countdown is getting shorter!

Good Luck!

I am engaged to my fiancee. We submitted our K-1 visa papers and it was received November 5, 2007. Could we get married outside of the country by religion? or is it not good since I requested the K-1Visa. HAs anyone tried it?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresStarting a K1 advisory business
There is a company in Orlando that works with immigration and basically just fills out people's forms for them. There is not a lawyer working in the office - but that is not to say they don't know more than a lawyer. They even have the immigration documents in Portuguese.
This office works on helping people transfer from tourist to student (I-20) visas - among other things.
They work with basically only Portuguese and Spanish speaking people...works for them. I don't see why not either.

I wrote maybe 3/4 of a page. I explained that I was living in Brazil, when I returned to the U.S., my returns trips, and that we decided to get married and apply for the K1 visa.
I included dates but left out all of the lovey dovey stuff.

You're not that young - you don't need to worry about that.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresfiance letter of intent
Be care though...
When you send that letter with the I-129F documents then you should put down your address with your letter and the address of USCIS. On your fiance's letter it should include his/her address and the address of USCIS.
You only write the embassy's address when that letter is going to them (at the time of the interview).

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHooray for English!
My husband was also interviewed in his native language - and I was there. He didn't speak English at the time, but that is ok because it is not a requirement for the K1 visa. However, I am fluent in Portuguese and the CO (who is American) spoke to me in both languages. All of our previous correspondence was in Portuguese as well.
What is important is that you can communicate and that you have proof. It's ok if you don't speak your wife's native tongue, but you can speak Japanese with her...
In addition, in order to be a translator you have to know English well enough. I wouldn't be worried if I were you....but I'd have proof of relationship/communication for the interview if I were you... Good luck.

That was my problem too. We both really wanted to spend another Christmas together but since his interview was March we decided to wait. So I was there for the interview (which was better) and we had a marvelous pre-honeymoon in RIO DE JANEIRO.

We only sent 6 pictures. I was looking at 40 + and wanted to decrease that number -- my husband wanted to send more.

It's not necessary since you'd just be sending more of the same thing: you and your fiance.
We never received an RFE for anything and our case was approved quite quickly....

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHow to send out I-129f
I used a two-hole puncher and fastened my ACCO fasteners at the top. It was easy to flip through - like a pad of paper. I decided against the tabs because I thought it was too much. However, I used a cover letter for I-129F and then 2 others for proof of having met and proof of ongoing relationship.
We were approved quickly (considering) and had no RFEs.

Hmm, I was told yesterday that 'if it gets to 90 days and you still haven't heard anything' (about my I-90 to get my green card corrected - which is also currently showing a processing time of 6 months on the USCIS site) that I should call back and they will 'expedite' my case. Yeah right, of course they will. I know USCIS well enough by now to know that the woman I spoke to was obviously talking (in a very friendly way, mind you) out of her #######, and that that is just one of their standard 'please get off the phone now and don't bother us again for a few months' lines. Still, I wonder if I spoke to the same customer 'service' rep that you got - it's probably something she reads from her script to every caller! I can practically guarantee that if you call them 5 times in a row and ask the exact same thing, you are going to get a different answer every time.

An I-90 is a bit different than a I129F petition. And yes they should be willing to look into it for you at that point.

Talking out of their #######? Been there....experienced that. It sucks - I know. Even the IO at my infopass said that the CS reps working for USCIS are only taught to say two things - 30 days and 60 days.
I'm sorry you have to wait so long for your approval...

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresGeneral Question as to which method is faster.
It's SO hard having a boyfriend/fiance living in another country - so for me, I couldn't imagine having a husband living miles and miles away. I never wanted to be apart from my husband (when we were dating) - but now we're married - I don't even want to think about it...
But that is just my opinion.
I'm pleased with how the K1 visa went for us - it's the AOS that is getting on my damn nerves - but hey, at least he's here and has his work permit.

QUOTE
I think that being able to have a working knowledge of English should be an important factor when being considered for a visa. If the person really wants to succeed in America, they really should make an effort to learn English before they get here. The thing that I think this pertains to is whether or not the petitioner and the beneficiary can have a relationship if they cannot speak the same language. As others have stated earlier though, the OP needs to give us some more information.

I completely disagree. My husband knew NO English when he was approved for the K1 visa. I lived in Brazil and speak fluent Portuguese - that is how we've always communicated. We spoke to the CO in Portuguese during the interview - unless he was directly questions at me, then we chatted in English.
My husband had NO desire to leave his hometown, let alone his country, and you have to pay for English classes....so that was not a priority for him. He should not be penalized because he fell in love with an American who later chose to live with him in the U.S.
Now he's working his hardest to learn English, and I'm proud of his success so far. It's not easy for everyone, but he studied, and now practices at work (and home) to improve it.

Another pro to going to the interview is that 3 days later we came to the US together.
