HI
In G325A (bio.form) on the top right hand side line there is file number next to citizenship, what do i need to write there? I have written my Alien Number is that correct?
I am confused b/c at the bottom of page they have asked for Alien Registration Number . Pls confirm if file number is same as Alien Number. Or do i leave it blank?

If you have an A # then you have to put it in.
If you are a naturalized citizen then you'll also need to show that...

Don't leave blanks.

To be on the safe side, send her divorce decree to an official translator to get it translated. There are plenty in Colombia especially in Bogota and it's not costly.

When I asked the Embassy about my birth certificate translation, they confirmed that "an official translation" is required. But then again, every consulate has different set of rules.

Good luck.

I know this question has been already asked but still i couldnt get a clear answer to it.
Stated that is advisable to include the non USC birth certificate with the application, does the translation need to be notarized or made by a professional translator? I had a friend of mine signing the translator certificate, but im still wondering if it's good enough.
Thanks one more time for your help, dont know what i would do without this forum!!

I translated and notorized mine, and i'm pretty sure you need to notorize everything you translate in english.

The only document that needs to be notarized is the I-134. What is there to notarize with a BC - the translator's signature? That doesn't make sense.
You do not have to include the BC, but if you'd like to there is no problem - just send in the translation too.

Do you need the BC for the I-129F documents? NO

We sent a copy of my husband's because we already had a copy AND the tranlsation (everything you send to USCIS needs to be translated into English). I wanted to "show" who my hubby was AND because we had written UKNOWN under father, so I wanted to send a copy showing that his father was NOT listed on the BC.

Any advice would be appreciated, Mike

Applying for a visa does not handcuff you to your country or restrict you from living your life.... If she resides outside over the prescribe requirement then she will probably need a PC from there.

what is a pc? Police clearance?

I'd imagine it would depend on how long she's there for.

As far as studying for her NYS nursing exam - good for her good.gif

Just a question i want to add. How does having a boarding pass be primary evidence that you have met. My fiance could easily fly to the UK but thats doesnt prove that we met in person. You would think having photos would be primary and not secondry. Its there for eyes to been thats its proof that you met in person. Just find that bit odd.

Think about what you're applying for - a visa to get married. If you want to marry someone from Scotland, it'd make the most sense that that was why you had travelled there, have stamps in your passport, ATM receipts, boarding passes...etc.
Remember that you also write about how you met and the times that you have met in person.
Good luck!

The only documents/e-mails/letters that need to be translated into English are those that are being seen by USCIS. I was told by USCIS NOT to translate anything by myself so I asked a friend to do it (although I'm fluent in Portuguese). I felt it's better to not risk translating anything myself - although I see now that tons of people do it from VJ.

We did pay to have my husband's BC translated since it's a government document and we did it in Brazil so it's super cheap.

You don't have to translate anything at the interview stage UNLESS it's NOT in English or Spanish.

Good day to all!

I regret that I just noticed today that on my 2nd daughter's birth certificate, my name as her mother was written as MA.Evelyna instead of a complete MARIA. We have submitted the I-129F and just got the NOA1. This makes me worry that the reviewer might notice it causing for us to get an RFE or if not during the interview necessitating to show the b. cert. as proofs.

Can please anyone share any idea on what to do about this? I would like to settle things as early as possible not to cause further delays.

Thank you so much.

There's nothing you can do right now but pray that they won't give a big deal out of it and send you RFE. If ever they will send you one (God-forbid), I think you can use a notarized affidavit of discrepancy to show as proof that the names MA. and MARIA are one person (you).

Good luck!

--Mae

Thanks David-Mae! I just hope they don't. I think I would be getting an affidavit of discrepancy ahead of time and send it to my fiance to anticipate. We submitted 2 birth certificates, one for my eldest with my name written correctly and they might notice the difference of my name. So worried really. Again, thank you.

Best regards!

Hey Again!

Im starting to worry a bit now on our petition. I went over to the usa in the summer 2007 and i stupidly lost my passport blink.gif
I applied to get another passport when out there but obviously when i lost it i also lost that I-94 arrival/departure card.
i sent off whilst in the states, a form to replace this (along with $300 something which they gladly cashed!) but as the date for my departure back to UK gew nearer i still hadnt received my replacement. When i called them they said that it could take up to 90 days mad.gif which seemed so silly seeing as i was leaving before then!! What a weird system!
Well anyway , soon i had no choice but to leave for my flight. When i got board and i told the person what had happened and why i didnt have my I-94 she just quickly gave me a new 1 to fill out which tok a matter of sec (made me angry to think if t was that easy then i didnt have to pay for replacment that i never got !)
Anyway, my fiance said that a letter came through a little while ago from nebraska service centre saying about abadoment of case with the I94 which is utter b~#**cks seeing as i did everything in my power to get it before i left.
Im now worried that when CSC come to lookin at y petition theyre gunna see that i may have abaonded case and therefore think i overstayed! I have my flight itineary so know what day and plane i boarded but dont have stamps or boarding pass sad.gif
I have written a letter to nebraska explaining all of this with a copy of my attched flight details to explain i didnt abandon and will keep a copy so if CSC do ask i can say ive written them a letter and can show them it if nesseary. Am i being too paranoid about this? Ive been to the USA for 3mnths since then and had no problems in regard to it

Hi everyone!
I'm sending off the I-129 petition for the K-1 app. I am aiming to have it in the mail by 5pm. Finally.

However I have 2 questions that have been nagging me lately that need answering. Here goes:

1. I've read that people have highlighted pertinent info in their evidence doc's (namely, emails. phone bills, etc)...But then I read something on the USCIS site saying not to use a highlighter... blink.gif ...I am thinking I probably read something that concerned some other petition/application, so just to make sure: Should I use a highlighter to point out relative info iin my evidence to be submitted (i.e., dates, names...)? Or should I not highlight anything? Anyone know the answer or if there is some rule about this?

2. About translating: Are secondary evidence items--like copies of letters, cards and emails-- also considered as "documents" that must be translated? If so, do I seriously need to have a professional translator's certification for a couple of love-letters and emails? Or can I or a friend translate everything (following the format, of course!)????

one more small question...sorry rose.gif rose.gif rose.gif

3. All paperwork will be held together by ACCO fasteners() Now, am I supposed to put thr ACCO'd it all in a folder or some kind of covering? Or is it fine to just sticl them all in the envelope and ship, as-is??

Thanks so much for all and any help!

Now, I must expend time and funds to make a special trip back down there. Regardless of whether your consulate SAYS (on its website, in advance, or anywhere) that "only the applicant is allowed in the interview," attend anyway, just in case.

Sadder but wiser. Si, man.

Oh I hope this isn't the case for everyone! My fiancé is in Ecuador, and I cannot be with him because I have to go to school in the fall. Why would you going provide more evidence for them? This is the same consulate that my fiancé has to go to...now I am scared!
I guess we will see how it goes and if I need to be there, then I guess I will go there...

I wouldn't say that it is true that a lot of the consulate in Latin America expect for the USC to be there. Brazil does not require, or even suggest, that the USC go to the interview. I went for a number of reasons - I wanted to be with my hubby, I didn't want him to go alone, we wanted to meet up in Brazil to return together, it's stressful, and we had our pre-honeymoon in Rio.
The CO allowed me to be interviewed too, he even spoke with me more than my husband.

But I've read a lot of reviews from all over LA and was never under the impression that the USC SHOULD attend as a GENERAL RULE.
