It's been cold here in Florida! Not as cold as everyone else I'm sure, but still pretty nippy outside!

And that picture is too cute Peet

Haha well we should all be used to the government taking a while by now. =] I mean, it did take 8 months for us start to finish just to get Johnny over here. When did you send your paperwork off?

Johnny and I both have facebook accounts, but neither of us use them very often.

I'm delighted to say that we have completed and sent in our Adjustment of Status! We placed it in the mail just yesterday so now all we have to do is wait for them to send us confirmation that they received it! =] Oh and hopefully soon I can get Johnny to place our wedding pictures on his picasa web account so you all can see them.

For $7.99 you can get two good passport pictures done at Walgreens or CVS. They cut them out and have them completely passport ready.

Johnny already has a temporary US license that is good until the 22nd of February when he will be considered an illegal and we were already able to get him in state school tuition because he's married to me. We are already working on our AOS and have most completed. We haven't gotten him a social security number yet, but that is because we are having a few issues with the social security office. They had to send off the paperwork to homeland security today because they flagged his file and they aren't sure why so they are hoping to have it cleared through them directly. We've hit very few hiccups and are hoping we can get our AOS out of the way very soon.

My stupid bank is giving us more problems than other places. They STILL have not put Johnny onto my account because he isn't a citizen and because of this they have to send it off to their main headquarters. It's rather annoying and is making Johnny want to switch banks, I'm willing to give them a little more time but we'll see in the long run.

I'm a little leery about the whole surgeon general thing though, from what I've read from the both of you and what Johnny has researched; it would appear that all the doctors here in Florida want to charge for a full medical exam as well. The government is already taking so much of our money, I'm not sure if we are willing to let some doctor charge us anywhere between $20-50 for something that doesn't need to be done. =/

I'm here as well! We've also been very busy. Just got back Friday from our honeymoon and we've been busy shopping for Christmas, getting things put up, etc ever since! Craziness basically.

Hopefully soon I can put up a few wedding pictures for you guys!

In the mean time though, I hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas and a happy New Year!

Johnny and I are ready for Christmas! And the wedding, we're getting married tomorrow! Today we are having the rehearsal; it's weird how I'm not really nervous, I'm just excited! I'll make sure to send pictures this way once we get them.

Hi everyone, sorry I'm just now posting!

Johnny got in the 24th, everything went well except for the massive amount of questioning at the Orlando airport; they are always mean and horrible though so it was to be expected.

Our Thanksgiving was a tad nonexistent this year as we spent all of Thanksgiving day driving up to Tennessee so that Johnny could finally see the estate that Friday and so that we could run over final wedding plans. Just a little over one week to go before the wedding! I'm nervous/anxious/stressed but it will all be worth it, it already is.

As far as the AOS goes, we plan on filing as soon as humanly possible; probably going to fill out the paper work the week of Christmas and mail everything in after the first January. We are mainly doing it so soon for Johnny's schooling, they need the proof that we are infact going to have him stay here longer than 90 days legally; and it will help with getting him Florida tuition instead of having to pay the massively expensive out of state tuition.

Phew! I think that's it as far as updates goes; I hope everyone had a lovely Thanksgiving and continues to have a lovely Christmas and New Years. Congratulations Liz and Pat on the marriage!

Johnny should just be arriving at the consulate, though he may have gotten there sooner; either way he's there now. I'm crossing my fingers for good news!

I don't remember that Inn, but it is so quaint and gorgeous! I was 13 when we went to San Antonio so there are only a few things I remember about it and the river walk.

Thanks! The location just seemed so much nicer [and less expensive] than anything we looked at here in Florida. We have a lot of family up in Tennessee and Georgia so it was really a 50/50 split on who would come if we had it in Florida or in Tennessee.

Haha he is more than ready. He already has his flight booked. He shipped almost all of his stuff over here a while ago, at least three months ago, so all that's left is for him to pack a suitcase and get over here.

Like I've said before, we have the luxury of not being tied down to anything in one country or the other because we're still pretty young and without major careers.

LOL....yeah, I'd say he's ready! When will he be flying home?

His flight is for the 24th of November.

Quick question, Johnny's interview date is at 1:30 next Tuesday the 17th; what time should he get to the consulate for his interview? He is thinking he will arrive in Amsterdam at 12 and be at the consulate around 12:30, is that early enough? Is it possible that if he gets their sooner they will take him back sooner?
LindseyJohnnyKFemaleNetherlands2009-11-11 13:29:00

Peet, yes AOS is that expensive; and it's ridiculous. I think it's what? $1010 or something? Johnny and I have figured that by the time this is over with, getting him over here will cost probably close to three thousand dollars as I'm sure it has for most of you as well.

I'm not sure about the travelers permission thing and whether or not it's free if you send it all together so I can't be of much help there. =/

Congrats on your wedding by the way! I'm sure you are happy to be finally married and to move on to the next step in the seemingly endless visa process.

Yeah, looking back at the calendar it took them right at a month to get our interview date to us... We had to wait on his American police report though since he lived here for seven years.

We went when it was pouring down rain too! The Pegasus ride is by far the scariest coaster ever! I think Johnny said they tore it down though.

Ever heard of Limburg Liz? Well Den Bosh or 's Hertogenbosh is right next to it. North Brabant is the Province. ^^ I really like that province because it has lots of nature in it.

Congratz Johnny and Lindsey!!!! Was about time, good luck with the interview!!

Welcome Adriana ^^

Thanks!

I know where 's Hertogenbosh is, and the province of Limburg! I cannot say 's Hertogenbosh to save my life, I've tried and it is not pretty. Anyway, Johnny and I have been to Tilburg several times to go to the Efteling.

Johnny and I still do not have an interview date... It has almost been 8 weeks since it got to the Amsterdam Consulate from NVC. Apparently they are still waiting on Johnny's police report from when he lived here in the US for seven years. I don't expect anything soon because we are dealing, once again, with an office within the US and they seem to take their sweet time getting any information together.

Blu and Anna, thank you both for some more insight as to when we may possibly get our packet four; it's also good to know that at least they weren't just telling Johnny that out of spite, he's had the same woman on the phone twice now and she has been very rude both times.

Fingers crossed that Johnny will receive something in the mail really soon then. =]

I think you are right though Anna, it would appear that they are backed up at the moment due to their vacation and that it's possible they are not properly staffed.

I agree with you Liz, I have a feeling she said it out of meanness. I find it really hard to believe that they are truly that swamped. It took them no time at all to give us out package three, and as of now, it has been about four weeks since they sent out package off from the NVC; hopefully we'll get our fourth packet soon. It will be six weeks the 9ths of October.

@Liz- Nope, he never got a response AND the woman he talked to from the Amsterdam consulate on the phone was extremely rude. He even mentioned how he didn't know what other people were talking about when it came to the friendly staff because this woman he talked to on the phone was neither friendly nor nice to him. Johnny said she seemed as though she didn't even want to have to talk to him or help him out at all.

I have gotten several rude people on the phone as well when dealing with immigration; sometimes I think it's because I sound so young and they think I'm stupid and can boss me around, well let me tell you, they are most definitely wrong.

@Ri- I'm glad to hear you got everything figured out and have your fourth packet now!

We plan to go back to Holland in November to visit family and attend a wedding....yeahhh!

Take care!

OH JEANINE!!! You look gorgeous!!! that dress...WOW! John looks so handsome..hehe..and a bit nervous.. ;-) Everything was lovely!!!

btw...I sent you a request to be friends on Facebook.. blush.gif

Yep, we'll be applying for those as well. I read through the guides on here today and downloaded all the forms....it looks MUCH easier than the K1 petition!

Oh cool! I'm sure your family will be so happy your there for a visit!

Hey Liz,

It is so exciting that your wedding is coming up!
Yes, there is always something to do till the day is there!

I just have a question, but I think it is a dumb question, how do you know that your package is received at the american consulate in Amsterdam?
Because I am looking at my papers and I can't find it at all. Is there a way that i can figured that out online?

Hope you can answer my question!

Have a nice weekend!

Ri

Hi Ri,

hehe..yes, it's very exciting that its finally almost here!! :-)

Its not a dumb question...and unfortunetly you can't look anything up online. I have the email address for the Consulate and you can send them an email and they will let you know if your packet has been received...here it is:

ImmigrantVisasAms@state.gov

Hope that helps!!

Have a great weekend too! good.gif

Also, isn't it possible to call NVC to see if they've sent it off to Amsterdam? That's what I did, it's easier than trying to get them to reply to an e-mail. Johnny sent them an e-mail concerning our packet three and I don't think they ever responded.

Hello everyone!

3 weeks after sending packet 3 and no packet 4 yet.... Maarten called the consulate and they told him not to worry wink.gif What he understood, they will set an interview date sometime next week, maybe. Seems quite a long time compared to other timelines.

DeniseBill, did you send packet 3 yet?

Lindsey, how is your progress?

-Anna

Our case is through NVC, but we are still waiting on packet three; it's been over a week now and we have yet to hear anything. Johnny sent them an e-mail so hopefully we'll hear something soon.

Aw, I bet you are super excited! I know I can't wait until I can finally tell people a date for Johnny's arrival! I just saw him recently, in May, and yet if feels as though I haven't seen him in six months! It's ridiculous. haha

Thanks stlouis, congratulations on yours as well! I hope you get your packet four soon. Johnny read something about the Amsterdam consulate being slow right now until the 8th of September, so maybe that has something to do with why you have not received it yet.
