OzGal - I was just in Orlando last week. I was staying in a HORRIBLE motel though. My best friend lives in a great neighborhood, even though it's RIGHT in Disney's back yard but I actually like it in Orlando!
i'm in Jacksonville! Do ya'll ever make it up this way?

Hey Karo, Haven't been there yet, I pretty much live in a small world of my own here in downtown Orlando, but we'll get there one day I'm sure. Glad you liked it, sorry about the sucky motel.Cheers Lindy

Hey Matt, that matesupover site is pretty cool, got some interesting stuff, I'll probably lurk about there like I lurk here mostly. I usually leave the posting to others unless I have something really pertinent to say. I always keep me flame proof undies on just in case.
I live in Orlando by the way folks. Cheers y'all, Lindy

Not anytime soon Kath, maybe next year if we ever get finished with our renovations. Wee Lachy will be able to call me Granma probably by the time we get there but such is life.....
We'll be removing conditions in September and then I'll be starting the citizenship journey.
Meanwhile I'll be watching the forum waiting to get all you other Ozzies here safe and settled and a big congrats to those of you who have already made it.

Aussie and Princess, woohoo, the worst part is over, now just comes the settling in period, if you keep things in perspective and stay on track all will be fine.

United KingdomVisa fee in London?

Procedure has changed recently, and they are trying to get people to pay for the visa before the interview. He will call the embassy and pay over the phone. The email my fiance received before his interview says they only accept credit cards, no cheques or cash.

But either way, paying before or on the day, it will definitely have to be by credit card. To find out roughly what the exchange rate is you can google it. Right now, $350 will be about 220 pounds, but that can change depending on the exchange rate.

Oh, thank you. :D I wasn't sure if they had a flat rate for GBP aswell, or if it was off exchange rates. but that rough figure helps. ^^

United KingdomVisa fee in London?
I know it's $350 american. However I cannot seem to find any answer to the GBP equivalent. :s They DO accept cash GBP right or will my Fiance need to write a check or bring his Credit Card?

I know i'm alittle bit ahead of myself worrying this part. But my fiance finally is getting his banking issues sorted and wants to know just how much to save(round about anyways) for his end.

The medical(without vaccines) is still 200 GBP right?

Thanks in advance. :3

United KingdomGood photo services
So, my fiance's passport has to be renewed. And him being a big guy(6'8" and 300 lbs), cannot fit into those little photo booths in town normally.

Anyone know of a good photo service in his area? He lives in Wakefield if that helps any.

thanks for the help. :3

United KingdomQuestion about the acpo police cerificate

I think that there's actually a list of accepted professionals in the ACPO instructions.

I understand that, however as I listed in my first post, my fiance doesn't know any of those type of professionals for the length of time it wants..hense why question :s

@ LB & PC: Thanks for the reply, I do hope it works if we use his best friend.

United KingdomQuestion about the acpo police cerificate
Hi, we just got our NOA2 and are working on the remaining docs.

On the acpo thing, it says someone official/professional who has also known my fiance for two years or more must sign the back of his photo and the application?

what is considered official? :s he doesn't have a set dr, only medical staff that he's known for that long is a good drive away.(he moved from Lee to West Yorkshire this year.) He also doesn't have any line of work, so thats out of the question really. And same case about old teachers being in Lee.

His best friend, who has known him since middle school works for the government doing payroll(i'm not sure what job title he has offically). would this work?

any help on the would be great. thanks ^^

United KingdomRequest more time?
Me and my fiance are in a bit of a pickle.

we've been awaiting his passport renewal since January. still not gotten it, but we phoned and it should be within the next 3 weeks that said(as of last Tuesday). and our NOA2 date was 02/28. i'm afraid we're getting really close to my deadline and i don't want the embassy thinking we abandoned the petition.

do i send an email, phone or mail them a form/letter stating we're needing more time then usual?

Should we just send in the some of the packet 3 forms? we can't send in DS-156 cause we don't have the passport # handy. but can we send in the other 3( DS-230 part 1, ds-156k and ds-157) and that count as activity?

thanks for any help

United KingdomSome odd questions about order after NOA2
Thank you Nich-nick. (Love your k-1 in a nutshell for london guide btw, it's very helpful)

I'll have my fiance do that this week then. I'm just so worried that this is taking so long, I don't want us hitting any extra bumps along the way... :s
Mel1990FemaleUnited Kingdom2011-05-17 23:23:00
United KingdomSome odd questions about order after NOA2
From the P3 letter itself...

London wants back before interview:
DS-230, part 1 (1 copy) (Sign it) That means only page 1-2. K1s do not need p.3-4
DS-156 (2 copies) (Sign it). It generates a barcode when you print it.
DS-156K (1 copy) (Do Not sign it) You sign at the interview. It?s an oath.
DS-157 (2 copies) (No signature)

Along with DS-2001 and a coverletter with your information on it when you are ready to interview.

we can fill in all of these ASIDE from ds-156 due to missing passport information(as we're waiting on a really long delayed passport...)

hense why my question is directed to: Can we send in only 3 forms(ds-230, ds-156k and ds-157), and then the remaining other forms. Or can we pay for the Visa fee now without mailing in anything. Our Noa2 is close to expiring and I want to avoid any issues cause of that. I am trying to keep london from thinking we abandoned, but it's very hard when we have nothing to submit

United KingdomSome odd questions about order after NOA2
Since my last topic got ignored about requesting more time...

Can we send in only THREE forms for packet 3 and then send the remaining forms afterwords? I know you can send in the FOUR ds forms alone, THEN send in the readiness+covoerletter, but we can send in only 3?

reason is because we don't have my fiance's passport information for one of the forms as we're waiting on his passport renewal and our NOA2 expires in a little over a month.

Question 2: Can we pay the visa fee NOW without sending in packet 3 forms OR doing the medical? AND will this keep our noa2 extended if we go past our expire date?

i'm basiclly looking at ways to keep out NOA2 in check, while we wait for these god damn stupid documents. :s

ChinaWaiting for Schedule of Interview
Well, just spoke to DoS office this morning at 835am. Was told that my fiancee's interview was scheduled for September 27th, 2010 at 7:15am.

Customer service rep the other day told me no dates were available for the rest of Aug and all of Sept. I told my fiancee and she was very upset. So i called back today and was given different information.

Do not take the word of the first rep you speak to. Always call back and speak to another rep because they say what they want just to get you off the phone.

I am glad that we have made to the finish line. Good luck to all and thanks for the great advice.

Will keep you posted

ChinaWaiting for Schedule of Interview
I called the DoS to see if my fiancee's P3 packet was received and was told it was received but that no interview date was setup. She said we were in a 'pending status' waiting for an interview date. I asked her how long a wait or what dates they were up to and was told that August and September interview dates were already filled and MAYBE we could get an October or November date! Huh? 2 months waiting for an interview date? I don't fully trust this agent that i spoke to, so I will call again next week too and see what they say.

I know many churches also offer free ESL classes. The church I went to (Southern Baptist) did, and I've heard of others in the same denomination offering those classes as well.

Thank you for the reply. I actually spoke to someone yesterday and found many places that my wife can go to. She wants to go during the day, so it may be hard because most of the classes are full, but she will get into one by March

ChinaAnyone know of any Free ESL classes in Tampa, Florida
Hello All,
My wife arrive in the US on November 12th, 2010 from Zhenjiang China on a K-1 Visa. We married on December 25th, 2010 and applied for AOS on January 19th, 2011. My wife applied for AP and EAD as well. While we are waiting for the paperwork to be processed for her Green card, my wife wants to go to English classes. She heard from one of her friends that there were FREE language classes that she could atten. I think they are called ESL (English as a Second Language). The classes are taught during the day or at night.

If anyone in the Tampa, Florida area knows about these classes, could you please let me know. I have Googled and searched everywhere and cannot seem to find ones that are FREE. My wife's friend says she attended one in Tampa, Florida and says she went to class every from 8am to 2pm and it was FREE. My wife hasn't been able to contact her because she moved, so i cannot ask her where it was. Any information would be appreciated.

Dear Sir or Madam:

Please be advised that the National Visa Center (NVC) has received your inquiry and the attached I-797 Notice of Action - Approval Notice.
Unfortunately, we do not have record of receiving your approved petition. The NVC will contact U.S. Citizenship Immigration Service (USCIS), on your behalf, for information on the location of this petition.

Wow. I can't believe you have to suffer because they made a mistake. I would stay on them. Why can't they just send another one. They have it all in the computer? Who knows what they are doing. They should give these cases special attention. Good Luck

Hello all,

Well, i thought the worst was behind me (98 days at VSC). But now that we have been approved and the NOA2 has been received, I want to know if the NVC has received our application AND if they have forwarded it to my fiancee's embassy in China. The NOA2 said to wait at least one week after receiving the NOA2 before contacting the NVC. It is now been over one week since we received the NOA2 notice in the mail, so i tried to call the NVC number that was given to get the status. The line has been busy since early this morning. I emailed them last week, but have not received a response. Has anyone else been able to get through to them during business hours or do you have to wait online to get through? I can't even get through to the automated system, it just rings busy. After hours it is no problem getting the automated, but it does not give you any information, it just says you have to talk to a customer service rep. Also, does the NVC assign another number to your case or do you just use the number on your NOA1 for status? I really just want to know if they received it from Vermont.

Thank you

Kurt and Ellen

USCIS Service CentersCSC IS GOING BACK TO 5 TO 6 MONTH PROCESSING

I hope Vermont speeds up; it has been excruciating to watch CSC people who submitted after Vermont filers to get approved first, then also Vermont filers that were sent after August 15th were sent to local branches and also approved faster so those of us in the May, June, July Vermont files will have to wait the longest and it is by no rhyme or reason, just unlucky in location and timing.

I hope that is not true cause I am an Early June filer!! Keeping my toes and fingers crossed that they do speed up!

..Yesterday 15Nov we called USCIS too. 5 months and 3 weeks since NOA1 at VSC. The answer was that Vermont is working on the K1 files reveived on 15 April 2012... How that is possible when the "Field Office Processing Dates for Vermont Service Center as of: September 30, 2012" is 14 April as USCIS website.

If anyone else called them ...what was the answer you got??

Eeks that is 100% bad news. I want to call but since I am only a little bit into my 5 months I feel I have to wait a bit longer before I go crazy on them! I look forward to seeing what kinds of response other get!

SO glad to be joining the few of us who were lucky enough to find our significant others in Japan. I actually met my fiance in college in the states, which makes him a very "AMERICAN" Japanese though he still follows some, to me, annoying Japanese habits. Asia: East and PacificFlights from Manila

Hello all,

My fiancee is in Manila and looking for a plane ticket. She has only been able to find one that will get her from Manila to Los Angeles. They are saying they can not get her any connecting flights from Los Angeles to my Chicago, Kansas City, Des Moines or St. Louis...
Is there anyone that is dealing or has dealt with the Philippines that can help me out here? There has to be a aganecy in Manila that can book the enter trip to one of the places listed above...

Thanks in advance..

Wilhulse,
My wife has her interivew on April 27th and I just got finished making arrangments to go there, be with her at the interview, and come back together. I see your interview is on April 19th. I bought our tickets online. Bottomline, goto www.TFITOURS.com . I just went there and filled in the information for a oneway ticket from Manila to Chicago O'Hare (your area, right?) It returned 2 available tickets for $655 (that's with taxes included) returning May 8th or 22nd which is a pretty good price. No need to give passport or other information. All you do is put passenger name and pay with a credit card. I've bought tickets through this site on 2 different occassions and it is reliable. They also get your tickets to your door within 4-5 bus.days after purchase (of course thats like $15 extra). I also bought tickets (onway) online at www.ONETRAVEL.com. I just checked that site for you and they have a ticket available for $661 with taxes for May 8th (MNL - CHI O'Hare) They are the same, reliable, more affordable, and safe. I hope this helps. If you need any help with this you can send me a PM  Good luck!
BTW- all the tickets I just mentioned have one layover in Hong Kong (not overnight!)

National Visa Center (Dept of State)I129F Petition status with NVC
I recieved the letter from NVC, confirming they recieved my I-129F petition, on 10/24/09. Since then, I have tried several times to check the status by calling NVC 603-334-0700. The automated system keeps telling me that they have not recieved the package. I am using the receipt number (beginnig with EAC) provided in the letter FROM the NVC, so how can their system say they don't have the package. I figure 2 weeks is more than enough time for something to have been recieved and even shipped to the consulate in Morocco.
Does anyone have any advice? thanks!

Asia: SouthMarriage Registration Malaysia
I am a USC and will be marrying with an Afghan who lives and studies in Malaysia on a student visa. I emailed the US Embassy in Kuala Lampur to ask about the steps I needed to take to make sure the marriage was done properly. They referred me to the following site. However this says for non-muslims...My fiance and I are both Muslim. Is it still the same steps?
