US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionManila Embassy Interview
My wifes K-3 interview in Manila is one month away (4/27) and I'm just stressed about making sure I have everything necessary. I'm going to list here everything I have prepared for the actual interview. If you see anything I've left out or ANYTHING...I'm open to suggestions.

1. 2 notarized Affidavits of Support (with supporting documents)
-Employer letter, letter from officer of bank, etc..
2. 5 original recent paycheck stubs (Showing over 125% poverty level)
3. Original Roth IRA investment statement
4. Over 200 photos (wedding and other trips to the Phil.)
5. 3 most recent cell phone bills ($500+)
6. Evidence showing my 3 previous trips to the Phil. in 2005
-including iteneraries, boarding passes, hotel confirmations, dining receipts, etc...
7. Evidence to show my family (Mother, father, brother) came to the Phil. to attend the wedding and will
be coming again now during the interview (copies of their tickets/iteneraries).
8. Statement from bank verifying wire transfers to help suport my wife
9. I have my original W-2's and Turbo-Tax print outs of all my taxes for the past 3 years. Now, these
are just print outs but of course include the 1040's. They are not "certified copies" of my tax returns but
I do have the original W-2's to back it all up. Is this okay?
10. Original NOA letters and NVC letter / appointment letter
11. NSO Birth Cert's and NSO Marriage Certs. (with originals)
12. 2x2 photos's (plenty)
13. Notarized co-sponsor Affidavit of Support (if needed) with 3 recent year taxes w/original pension letters
and original title of house.
14. Passports valid for at least 5yrs. out

And finally, I will be there to "go over" possible questions prior to and attend the interview with my wife.

Whew! I think that's it. I just want to make sure that we are 110% ready. I hope this may have helped others who are in the same situation and trying to prepare.

Is there any other information I should know or anything else to help me prepare? Thanks for all the information.

Thank You so much soulseeker for your kindness to share with the forum about how long it took to get your visa in hand. 5 days!!!!

Greg2005 and Andrewkonen? Did you get yours delivered in Metro Manila and if so how long did it take? From what Iam reading it seems to be about 5 days.

Thanks Robert & Lorna

Just wanted to say thank you to those who responded to my prior question about getting interview dates before the packet. I called the number and found out my wife has her interview on April 27th and medical on April 20th. WE are soo excited! And thank also for sharing your info. about the time frame for getting your visa in hand. For all those approved, can you also post the time it took to get your visa from the interview and include the city where it was mailed? Thanks again! ~ Scott

PW,

done! here's the link to the thread. I dont have a copy of my appointment letter though. They took it on the day of my interview. and silly me, i didnt make an extra copy

Wow, big kudos to you. That couldn't come at a better time. We're scheduled for a March 30th interview and still waiting for the packet to arrive.

This may seem like a dumb question, but, how did you find out your interview date without receiving the packet first? I have a link from a couple months ago that shows all interview dates (based on case #)for Feb. and March....is there a new posting for April and May? Thanks :)

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & Procedurespink slip?

i have a question.. if u really got a pink slip does it means that you are "really" approved?.. coz i got interview today.. and the CO ddnt really greet me congrats.. but i just noticed that he never said congrats to the girls that i met and got interviewed by him too.. he said just take ur seat and they will just look at the screen. something like that.. then i read to the pink slip this "make arrangements with and pay the applicable fee to our courier service in order to expedite drlivery of the visa pocket if visa is authorized. "the fee is refundable if the visa is not issued."

So im wondering if having a pink slip is an assurance that i am approve.. : (

but anyway they are right interview is painless.. :) its jsut after ur interview u will gona think and think.. but then when u got to the point, hmm not really scary.. lol

i heard from friends that if they give you the pink slip, that means you were granted the visa. i'm waiting for my packet. my fiance from washington just received the approval letter from USCIS, it says it will be forwarded to US Embassy Manila in after two weeks. i'm trying to be patient with this. anyway, i'm curious...if ever i am granted the k1 visa, how long is the validity? does it expire in a certain period of time? i still have a lot of things to settle here in the philippines just in case. does anyone know? how long can i stay here?

uhm in my experience i waited 1 more and half months to received the packet from embassy, after my hubby recieved the approval letter from NVC and i heard from my friend that the visa will expire if u will stay here in phils like 3 months or 6 months more. but i just heard.. i kinda forgot about that. but for sure when i got my visa. theres a instruction there for sure. so ill read it and ill PM you if how long it is.. :)

I just had my immunization today and release of the x-ray.. but i wonder how come the other went there for so early like 6:30am and when i got there i already got all my immunisation and x-ray releasing, but the other is still not doing any of that.. i arrived there like 10am.. Is it sign that im passed on my medical exam?..

If they gave you your Immunization records copy and CXR plates, then you're just fine so you can relax now and prepare for your Interview and do well.

yay!! thanks so much for reply!now i can really relax of that medica stuff.. coz yes they already gave me the CXR plates, and Immunization records!.. but Im still not sure if i will be approve.. coz i think im having a problem on my hubbys affidavit of support.. :(

Yap no need for you to worry abt your medical, coz if there's prob u wont have your xray result and immunization, so all we need now is to focus on our upcoming interview, hope we pass like others do here...what is the prob on your affidavit of support?!

coz my hubby only got $800 on his ITR(2006) but he have co-sponsor my mom-in-law but she couldnt find her ITR.. and right now i still dont have my husband's ITR, but its not a problem he will jsut gona scan it and send to my e-mail and ill jsut print it.. and we wish we can find his mom's ITR... but my husband's annual income is $25,000,00(but he based on this year) and her mom is $24,000,00..

Gawd!! I am now scared if the visa will gona be granted on me, after i read this forum :

http://www.visajourn...mp;#entry156616

and this is what happened at the end:

http://www.visajourn...mp;#entry156616

and this girl interviewed went really smooth.. the CO even congratulate her and wish her Goodluck in US. then the CO said to wait then she got the pink slip and pay the DELBROS and then shes waiting for her her visa for too long i think its been almost one month and her visa still not coming to her. then theres a letter that sent to her by the embassy saying she have to go back for more medical interview coz on her first interview the physcian saw a scar near on her wrist. something like that.. so they are thinking that that girl tried to kill herself.. something like that.. and more story on

i have a 4 tattoo in my body.. and i have a kinda big one on my lower back and i saw the physician marked my medical paper in my skin as "Abnormal" coz i think because of the "self inflicted injury".. and they mark my tattoos as hand written.. and what it looks like.. so I dont know.. Im beggining to get paranoid and got scared so much after i read that..

Is someone has a tattoo here and got passed?.. and also i had a friend, she have a tattoo but jsut a small one on her lower legs.. and she got approved. and also one more friend.. she have a 3 tattoos and she got approved also..

haaay.. IM REALLY SOO SCARED RIGHT NOW!!!!

US Embassy and Consulate Discussionpls. help if i can pass on the affidavit of support..

hello..i have an interview appointment on 17th of this month and i am wondering so much and kinda afraid after i read some people message or blogs here that ddnt passed coz of the affidavit of support.. well last year my husband was here and he got unemployed for 5 or 6 months i think.. so when he got his income tax return he only got $800(but hes working since he was 17 years old) but then he thinks that he will not gona passed on that plus he doesnt have bank statement or properties, but i have my 2nd sponsor his mom and his mom doesnt have any dependant to her.. and she had properties, insurance, but no bank state ment acount.. something like that.. and his dad wrote a letter (notarized) that i am welcome to his house anytime coz they have lots of room.. then give a bank statement, properties, etc. but he ddnt fill-up I-134 form coz he already petitioned his filipina wife..

so i wonder if im gona pass or not.. pls help :help: give me some advice.. and thanks in advance :D

how much is ur mom-in-law's annual income?! HOW many are they in the family? even ur mom-in-law doesnt have a bank account as long as her income is over 125% poverty guideline will be ok. In my case, my hubby and mom-in-law both fiiled out I-134. my hubby used to have a part time job but he chose to concentrate his school since he is graduating soon. Anyway, the consul only checked their I-134, tax transcripts, and w-2 form. when the consul told me that their income wasnt enough that was the only time i showed the bank account. and paid property. but HE didnt consider it. So therefore, he only relied to the tax transcripts and w-2.

thanks so much for the reply! :D my mom-in-law's annual income is $24,000,00 and my hubby is $25,000,00 and she only just support her self no one is dependant to her.. well shes married to his 2nd husband, but his new husband recieve money from government..is that enough? btw, what is tax transcripts, and w-2 form? I- dunno about that..

and yes.. i understand how u feel to be so far away with your hubby.. coz actually we are going crazy too! of havin this kind of situation.. :(

If your husband makes $25,000 then he *should* be fine supporting just you and him, with a letter from his employer stating his job status and his annual amount. The w-2 is the statement of earnings given to him by his employer at the end of the year, for filing taxes. Tax transcripts are available from the IRS for free. If he needs his mother as a co-sponsor then her income will have to be enough to support you, your hubby, herself and anyone else in the household.

oh.. he wrote here on his I-134 that his annual income is 25,000$... and i dont know if hes sure... lol but the last time he got his ITR(2006), he only got 800$ coz he just started on his present job like September or October (but he had a job before that on some store. he worked there for 3 months).. so thats why he thinks hes not capable of supporting me.. and last year he only works 7 months.. so the questions are, do u think it will gona have problem if they saw my husbands ITR, thats just 800$ only?? Is letter (not the form) from the employer is okay? coz thats what he sent to me now.. just the letter (well its formal letter)

and if ever i need the co-sponsor, is she needs to send ITR too? coz she couldnt find it anymore. She thinks she lost it or thrashed it.. :(

and aaah! my hubby ddnt send me his ITR stil! grr :(

sorry kinda late reply i havent been here in visa journey coz im kinda bussy playing online game.. hehe
anyways, we just called the embassy call center 2 times then the number in Manila US Embassy, 1 time.and that's all.. what im thinking now is maybe because of my birthcertificate in NSO coz whenever im getting the copy of my birthcertificate in NSO its always on MANUAL so i usually get my NSO birthcertificate for 3 weeks to 1 month. hmmm thats it.. :) well i know how u feel now that u are so worried.. but they always said if u have a pink slip then thats a good sign..so just relax and also on the time that i got so deppressed coz im thinking im waiting too much.. I tried to forget it for awhile and think of something or do something that i will gona be bussy of. but just keep the faith! it will be given to u soon... :) take care always! :)

US Embassy and Consulate Discussionilegal in germany.. :help:
My husband went to the germany embassy in Albania and called them as well. The police in germany said that we already gave you those two papers regarding you being illegaly from court and that's all we have of your because you have not been a resident here. do not know now what is going to happen now if they will accept them or not.

Oh I hope you get those police records from Greece very soon so you will not have to resechdule your interview.

My fiance was illegally in Italy and showed up where they issued the police reports. They said said you are here illegally and he said if you give me the police report I am heading back to Albania to apply for a US visa. They printed the police report and gave it to him!! They didn't do anything about him being illegal. I know Italy and Germany are two different balls of wax, but I would try and use the info given above on how to get a police report and at least try.

Yes, we have his interview November 30th in Albania. I head out the day after Thanksgiving. Believe it or not our issue is now the Greek police report. The Greek embassy in Albania will only send it directly to the American embassy and it is still not there yet. If it doesn't arrive in time they will reschedule our interview. Very nerve racking.

Thank you paujoric and Creel for your replies. My husband was iligally in Germany and was given a court letter which states that he was iligally in germany and was not allowed back without a visa and that's all. I do not know Creel how can he ask for them. By the way did you recieve the inteview date yet?

Paujoric I am thinking the same thing, that police records are needed only from residents, I do not know how he can get police records if he was iligally there. I hope to God the court letter will be enough for them.

Thank you again guys

US Embassy and Consulate Discussionilegal in germany.. :help:
Hello Everyone,

I am going to have to fill out packet three pretty soon, and I had a question regarding police records.
My husband was residing iligally in Germany for about 2 years and when we applied for the I-130 the lady in the embassy said that my husband was going to be asked for police records later on. Now we are going to have to fill out the packet three. The only record that my husband has from germany is a letter from court stating that he is ok however is not allowed to step in certain countries... like italy, germany vienna and so on without a visa and that he was judged for this by the court and returned to albania .
My question is: is this court letter enough? if not what else can my husband do  ?

Thank you for any questions you can provide me with.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionK1 Visa approved in Albania
CONGRATS CREEL :) I AM VERY HAPPY FOR YOU. I know what you must have gone through at the interview because I felt the same thing when we were interviewed for our I-130. I can't wait until my husband recieves packet 4, I am so worried that they might find something wrong or everything will not be all right. By the way since your fiance went to the interview you did get the police records from Greece right?

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionMoroccan Interview Experiences?
With our interview date coming up in January, I wanted to ask about your visa interview experiences at the Moroccan consulate. I am not so much concerned with the specific question asked, because everyone has been so good about giving that information previously. I read the VJ reviews, but I still have several specific questions to ask, so that I can compare and get a realistic idea about how things play out with the interviews.

- Were you married or engaged before the interview?
- Did you go to Morocco for the interview?
- If you were there, did it really make a difference? Why do you think it did or did not help?
- If you were not there, do you think it would have helped if you were there? Did the interviewer say anything like “too bad she’s not here to explain” or “if she really loved you she would be here”, etc?
- Which interviewer did you have?
- What was the interviewer’s attitude? Did they try to insult your relationship, were they cynical and negative, did they just stick to business and ask their questions, were they somewhat friendly and positive?
- Was the interview in English? Did they offer it in any other language? What is your guy’s level in English? Did that have a significant impact on the interview outcome?
- Did the interviewer ask “What will you do if you are denied”? What was your guy’s answer to that?
- If you have kids, did the interviewer ask questions about your husband’s expected relationship with your children? Like “how will you deal with having children” or “what role do you expect to have in the children’s lives”?
- Did you have a co-sponsor? Did your guy take the co-sponsor papers to the interview? Did the interviewer look at the co-sponsor stuff?
- They ask for so much proof (pictures, email, phone records, etc) in the packet your guy received, but did the interviewer actually take or look at all the stuff your guy brought to the interview? (some people said the consulate never even took the proof/evidence)
- Did they keep his passport after the interview?
- Was he approved on the spot, or did they have to review it some more? If he was approved immediately, how long did it take to get his visa? If he had to wait, how long was the wait until he was approved and then got his visa?

Houssain is not at all worried about the interview. He is more worried about having the time to get everything done before the interview, and having enough money saved for everything (including plane tickets, if approved). I tried to explain to him, no matter how solid our relationship is, it’s still intimidating that a single person working in the consulate has the power to decide the direction our lives will take. If that man or woman is having a long, hard day, they just may not be in an “approving mood”.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionInterview resulted in "Further review"
My fiancé had his first K1 visa interview this morning, he was the last one for the day. (I wrote a detailed review on it, under the Moroccan consulate) The end result was that the interviewer gave him the “we regret to inform you” letter, which has the Other box checked and the explanation: “Further Review of Your Case”. the interviewer told my fiance that they would call him within one week. I called the consulate immediately after, and they told me that they will "review the communication, the file, and when the review is complete" they will call him "when the case is ready".

I have been told that this is AP (administrative processing) or AR (administrative review?). So what is the difference, and which one is the better one? After considering that the letter states the word “review”, I would assume that our case in under AR now. I have read previous posts which lead me to believe that AP is not so bad, but AR is probably bad.

Thanks so much!
Jennifer

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionMoroccan Consulate "Lost" the Forms
Thanks for the support. I am sure he will get the visa, his approval won't change. It's just frustrating that the consulate is so un-organized that they actually lose documents containing important personal information. If the corporation I work for lost anything like that, we would be fined hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Our taxes are what pay the american consulate employees. So, you would think they had more respect for us and our loved ones.

You know any one of us who have been through this nightmare of a visa process could probably walk into the consulate and have it running in tip-top shape within 24 hours! We could set them straight in no time! :) LOL

Sorry to hear about the trouble they've been! I think once they get the forms he will get the visa... I know it's a hassle but in the future you'll laugh about it.

OzGal - I was just in Orlando last week. I was staying in a HORRIBLE motel though. My best friend lives in a great neighborhood, even though it's RIGHT in Disney's back yard but I actually like it in Orlando!
i'm in Jacksonville! Do ya'll ever make it up this way?

Hey Karo, Haven't been there yet, I pretty much live in a small world of my own here in downtown Orlando, but we'll get there one day I'm sure. Glad you liked it, sorry about the sucky motel.Cheers Lindy
