K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresDHL no evidence it left to Casablanca.

So anyway, I just got off the phone with the NVC and once again they did verify it left the facility on August 3rd. I told her that DHL did not verify any packages leaving the NVC on the date they have given me up until yesterday. Her reply is we have no guarantee of how long it will take to get to Morocco. I know that is bull....... cos it's only a five or six day process. She told me to call the Visa center in Washington to track down the file. ugggggggg

I had a similiar situation a few weeks back. I was told my package had left the NVC on July 19th. I checked the DHL website and put in the dates but no package to China. I called back and told them that no package had been received by DHL that was going to China. The lady then told me that they have no way of telling when DHL will picjup the package and that they tell people it left, when in fact, it may not have been picked up yet. Anyway, May package was picked up on July 23rd, not the 19th like i was told.
Keep checking and put in dates a few days after they told you it was sent. Chances are, it was not sent oput the day they said.

Good Luck

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresStill waiting for P4 interview letter

Wow, I am surprised that they are telling you that ALL of the dates for September have been scheduled. I would keep calling them at least once per week and ask about your case.

@Darnell: Do you know if there is anything he can do to bump his case up? If GUZ has his P3 I don't see anything that can be done but wait...

One other VJ member just got an interview date today for September 27th. He said his P3 was received by the GUZ embassy on 8/12/10.

I will be calling later today to see if a date was scheduled because my fiancee's P3 packet was delivered by EMS and received on 8/7/10.

Will keep you posted

Thanks for the replies

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresStill waiting for P4 interview letter
Hello All,
I was wondering if anyone here recently received their interview date from GUZ embassy. I verified that the embassy in Guangzhou received our P3 packet, but was told that we were in a 'waiting queue' to schedule interview. The customer service rep at DoS also told me that all of August and September dates were already scheduled, so maybe we could get an interview date in October? I checked a few other VJ members whose P3 packets were sent and received around the time ours were, and they had interviews set for mid-September. I was wondering if anyone else received their P4 recently and what date they were given. GUZ embassy received our P3 packet on August 5th and my fiancee has not received the P4 yet. i will keep calling DoS to see if they have scheduled one yet, but wanted to see if anyone else has received P4 or interview from Guangzhou China.

Thanks
Kurt and Ellen

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresIs VERMONT on fire now?? (fast responses)

Good question!! Mine seems to be flying (praise God!)!
As you can see from my timeline, my NOA2 was approved on July 28 (27 days after my NOA1!!), and my case has been to the NVC and already left! Crazy! I'm so so excited.
I would love to hear from others from VSC..?

From what I have read, if you sent your I-129f form into VSC after May 15th, 2010, your application was then forwarded to Texas for processing. Texas did not have a heavy workload, so the checks were cashed in Texas, the applications were processed quickly and without priority and returned to VSC. If you were one of the unfortunate ones, like myself) who sent their application in before May 15th, 2010, your application sat in a pile for 3 months waiting to be processed. I sent my application to VSC on March 31st, 2010 and received the NOA1 on April 2, 2010. I received no touches until July 9th, 2010 when it was approved (98 days after submitting it)

They may be back on track or 'on fire' now, but they certainly weren't a month ago. I read here on VJ where people were getting approved in as little as 30 days and they submitted their application 60 days after me! VSC didn't prioritize the applications, so people who submitted after the 15th were done quickly while others had to wait

Anyway, good luck.

I was in the same boat last week:

We sent in our i-129f forms on 3/30/10. USCIS received 4/2/10. We received NOA1 in the mail on 4/6/10 dated 4/2/10. The USCIS website showed 'Acceptance' and then a few days later it showed 'Initial Review'. It stayed like that for two months. No touches or updates. I called twice (6/2/10 and 7/2/10)and spoke to a Customer Service agent but got no new information. I finally called one more time, on 7/2/10, exactly 90 days from the day i received the NOA1. The Customer Service agent did not give me any information and said that they were still within their timeline of 5 months. Very frustrating, but i waited. I read a thread here on visajourney that said applications sent to Vermont after May 15th were being sent to Texas for processing, and applications prior to May 15th were being processed in Vermont. Those people that received approvals in 30 days were just lucky. Instead of prioritizing applications, Texas just processed whomever they picked up first. Not very fair at all. Finally, I was on the internet Sunday morning and went to the USCIS site and the status had changed to 'Post-Decision Activity' and said we were approved on 7/9/10. It was a total of 98 days from when I received the NOA1. Believe me, I was getting very angry every time i saw someone getting approval when they sent their application in 60 days after me! I understand every case is different, but it really isn't fair that some have to wait so long. If there is an RFE, then they should let you know right away.

You will get it this week. They are just slacking off. They are processing the people who sent in applications around 3 months ago now it seems.
Hope they will process yours soon.
Good Luck!

Vermont is DEFINITELY not on fire. You were just one of the lucky ones. Yes, some people have gotten their NOA2 in less than a month. But there are several people, including myself, that are still waiting. I am on 97 days today. Next Friday will be 104 days since i submitted my I-129f form. I have not heard a word since. If there was an RFE, i think i would have heard something by now. It really pisses me off that some people submitted their info in May 2010 and got their approval in mid June! I submitted in April 2010 and have not heard a word. I know there are alot more people in the same boat. Vermont is not processing on a first-come, first serve basis. I really don't know what they are doing or how they are processing, but it definitely isn't benefiting the people who are still waiting. If Texas is actually helping with the processing, they aren't processing those people from March and April first. Will have to wait and see. Congats to you though and good luck.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresK1 DENIED!! What next!?
Hello Friend,

I am so sorry to here of your experience in Guangzhou for your fiancee's interview. After reading your experience, i found that we are very similar in our stories: I met my fiancee about 15 months ago. I did visit her in Shanghai for a week, nowhere near the 15 times tyou visited. She did visit me here in the US for a month and lived with me. We started our I-129f paperwork right before she returned to her home in Zhenjiang. We provided all the evidence they requested. We were approved and a month later we got an interview date. We have emails, chat logs, several pictures with us together both in China and in the US, engagement ring receipt, airline ticket receipts and itineraries. We chatted every day on Yahoo and talked only one or two times on the phone. We did however chat on Yahoo when we first started communicating but only briefly. I never really wrote her letters, but sent birthday cards or a quick note when sending her gifts and other things i bought her. The mail system is very bad where she lives and sometimes it took a weeks for her to get items i sent for her. I don't have any phone records to provide, but i have hundreds of text messages.

I have talked to several people on here who have told me that their fiancee's have been approved after only 3 minutes of questions, and they were NEVER asked to provide phone records! It sounds to me that you were unfortunate enough to get a person with an real attitude problem or was 'under the weather'.

Nevertheless, I think you should look into getting legal assistance if you have any further issues. It doesn't seem to me that you were lacking information that was so important that you were denied. It seems very strange.

The wedding ceremony issue shouldn't really be a problem, from what i have read here. And besides, you said it never came up in the interview. This CO seems to be an idiot. I would talk to an attorney and see what your options are.

Good luck

Kurt and Ellen

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresshould we revoke our k-1 application?
So my fiance (Japanese national) and I got engaged May 28th 2012, and soon after applied for his k-1 visa. We received our NOA1 on June 7th and since then have been, as well as the entire family, desperately waiting for some kind of answer. As of now we have received no notice of our application's process. During that time, my fiance got a pretty decent job as a bar tender. As a result, he started thinking about revoking our i-129F and having us just get married and live in Japan for a while, then possibly apply for a spouse visa when we want to move back to the states. He thinks that if we live in Japan for a while he can save enough money for us to have a wonderful start in the states, he will be able to quickly get a job in the USA because of his experience/ language ability, and finally I will be able to live in my beloved Japan/ increase my language ability.

Questions for my beloved Visajourney buddies.
1. What do you think of our plan?
2. What are the procedures in revoking our application if do plan to?
3. Are there any consequences of revoking a fiance visa and then reapplying for the spouse visa?
4. Know the processes of marrying in Japan, and receiving a spouse visa over there?
5. Anything else?

Thank you for your help!!

Finally after almost a year after we first sent in our AOS, we recieved our NOA I-797C, our interview date! I have seen many other applicants do this in 5 to 6 months. I believe ours was delayed (almost a year) due to our change of address. My thanks goes out to this thread and all who support it for helping us do this on our own.
We will be bringing my wifes sister here to help her with the birth of our new baby girl, due in October and to attend Florida Atlantic University. She will come on a student visa and the University here will help with all the arrangements. Again thanks and be patient to all those waiting for their loved ones.
Oh, by the way, DONT USE TOLLTHAI for overseas phonecards!!!!!! after giving my debit card information to them to buy $50 worth of time, close to $1,400 was taken from my account! I had to get a new card number and wait 2 months for the bank to release the funds back into my account!

Hi Gang! It's been a while since we've visited this site. We are still waiting for Wisakha's green card, they say it's due to us moving into a new home and the change of address forms. They emailed us in November saying, "it could take up to 6 additional months"!

We are not worried though, She is now going to Florida Atlantic University, taking a few English classes. and we recieved a couple of forms allowing us to go to Thailand twice! So we are going next month to announce to her family that we are having a baby!

We would like to have her sister come and work for us as a nanny and help us with some bookkeeping in our business.

Can anyone suggest the best way for her to come here!

Also, We are flying in and out of JFK airport, I wonder if they can help my wife get her green card quicker?

Sawasdee krap,

Just wanted to give an update on our AOS journey, We received our biometrics interview date, but the confirmation letter came a week after the schedualed date! So, we mailed in the original letter and requested a new interview date.
Today, we just took a chance and brought a copy of the letter to the USCIS office, without an appointment. The place was empty! They welcomed us with open arms and took her fingerprints. No problems!
Just wanted to pass this info on.

Wi wants to get her named changed. She does not have a middle name, and wants to use her maiden name for it. The courthouse said, "She would have to fill out forms to make the change official". Then, we will be applying for her new Social Security card. We will keep ya'll posted.

Brent and Wisakha

Brent and Wi,

Might want to save yourself a visit to your local S.S.A. office. Since you are in the AOS process I assume your situation will be much like mine. S.S.A. would not issue a new S.S.N. with her married name UNTIL her AOS status is resolved. I argued with the lady that this made no sense and that her AOS documents (which I had with me) are in her married name. I also did the same thing with my wife regarding a middle name. We used her maiden name as her middle name. Also, when I got her State I.D. a couple of weeks back I used all three names in case there was ever a question. fyi, the lady at the S.S.A. office had been there for many years and although I disagreed with her reasoning she probably was right. ;)

Good luck with the AOS process. Mine took about 4 1/2 months from filing to Intv date. So, somewhere between 4-6 months is reasonable. We saved the money on AP and EAD since my wife is now pregnant and the process moves along so quickly. I think my friends AOS two years ago took something like 17 months. A note on your Biometrics appt. Once you get the letter you can show up before your appt date and take care of this. This might speed up your processing. No need to wait for the official date for Biometrics as long as you have the letter. Also, take your marriage certificate with the raised seal. If her passport and name on the appt letter are different you will need the marriage certificate. Luckily, my clerk of court faxed me the document so I did not have to return. gl2u

Rich

Thanks for the information Rich. We will wait until after the AOS process to get her new name on her S.S. card. Until then we will get her name changed. Wi wants to wait until the official date of our appointment. We are in no hurry, now that we are together. In fact, we dont even know what an "AP" or "EAD" even means? We will cross that bridge when we come to it.
Again, thanks. and allways love,
MeandWi

Well we are here. Su and I arrived on May 11th at 12:50pm in NY. So far everything is going well and she is adjusting well. Still very tired and wants to sleep most of the time but all in all everything is good. She has tried to get in to our car from the driver side a few times and stops once she sees the steering wheel.

Went to a few stores to shop for food but everything is PANG! Then I took her to a Super WallMart you would think she was a kid in a candy store. She said that it was like Tesko Lotus.

All the funny things that has happen with other member (Like the eggs) has happen with us too.

Now it is time to plan the wedding and then the AOS.

Thanks to all

Ray and Su

Ray and Su,

Welcome back To Florida!
We found the best Thai food store. It is called the "Asian Market". It is 1 block north of Lantana Rd. on Military Trail on the west side. Me and Wi go once a week. Also the best Thai food is at a place called Chiyo Thai Bistro, just south of Atlantic Ave on Military Trail on east side in Delray Beach. A very nice Thai family owns it and Wi loves the food there. They are very kind and I'm sure Su will be glad to speak Thai from time to time.

Have fun!

I need help with my AOS form I-864 section 213A (affidavit of support)

There is very little information on what needs to be submitted on "evidence of income" when you are self -employed.

I am planning on sending my Articles of incorporation, Date incorporated, letter on my stationery telling the type of work I perform, and The salary I pay myself. along with past w-2's and Tax returns.

Is this enough? Or do they need bank statements of my personal and business accounts also as proof?

If anyone else is incorporated and has completed the AOS forms, please inform me.

Thanks, ;)

I know this question has been asked before, but I don't feel like searching thru page after page to find it.

Do I have to purchase my fiancee's plane ticket to the U.S. in Thailand???

How did all of you do it???

Make sure you buy a round trip ticket for yourself and a one-way ticket for your fiance. I bought ours online through Delta airlines.

Can someone tell me and Wi the best way to get Thai language on our computer? She brought her Thai key boardwith her, but we could not find the "Thai" language settings. Any suggestions will be very helpful to us.

Khan khun krab,

Hi All,

i'm a newbie here and would like to get to know all. i'm from texas and my thai gf is here on a K1 visa. planning on getting married soon. but don't want to procrastinate until the final month of the 90days deadline. planning on just driving to the court house and get married then have a big thai wedding next year. how inexpensive is a thai wedding of about 100 guests in Thailand?? after getting married at the court house, how soon will i recieve the marriage license? and can i go straight to the SSN and get my girl a SSN card? can she work after she get her green card? or do i have to file the I-765 application for employment, dont' want to spend money on the application if i dont' have to. sorry if my thread is lengthy.

AJ

Hello and welcome to the forum AJ
The cost of your Thai wedding can be done for very little money. It depends on the type of ceremony, ask her, "what her family is expecting you both to have"? Traditional? or non-traditional? Christian or Buddist? My wifes family would not allow her to have a summertime wedding. Respect of tradition is very important in Thai culture. So ask is the season is right also. There are items needed in a traditional Buddist wedding that can bring the cost up. Outfits, flowers, rings, gold chains, gifts to family and guests, food, drinks, tables, chairs, tents (if outdoors), plus, plus, plus. I would say for 100 people,,,,,, with out sinsod,,,100,000 baht would provide a moderate wedding.
Me and Wi are not officially married yet, but she has recieved her SSN and card already. That took about a week.
Again, welcome to the forum. Good luck!

Hello VJ'ers!!

Well, Me and Wi are back in South Florida from Thailand!! We had a (unofficial) wedding that blew my mind away! Unbelievable is all I can say about it! From the ceremony to the party it was an all day event that was like a dream.

At the end of the party, the hotel that hosted us, flew 50 hot air, paper kites. A flame was lit under each 5 feet by 2 feet ,light weigt, paper cylinders. Causing the hot air to lift them all high into the air. Watching them all fly over the Andaman sea was breath taking!

Now, back to reality,,, time to plan an American wedding and start the whole AOS process.

Can Wi get her social security card now, or do we have to be married first?

Still in a daze,
Brent

Sawasdee krap khun visajourney members!

I'm so happy to be here with Wi!

Everything went well with her interview! They asker her 3 questions. How did you meet!,,, How many times I have come to meet her?,, and Where She learned to speak english so well?

She was given a card that told her to come the following day (March 16th) at 3PM, to pick up her visa!!!

I was there for that meeting. She and about 15 other girls were asked to join a man in a room, where he handed out all their visas. He also provided them information on what they need to do once arriving in the USA.

She was given a sealed envelope and was told not to open it. She was also given her passport back with her visa inside.

So,,, we will be returning the beginning of April to start the AOS paper work. See you then!

PS. The airline where I bought her round trip ticket (online) had me pay an additional fee for her already being in Thailand! You can only buy a one way ticket for her!! She is worth every cent of it!

Khab khun krap!

Hi again!
Well I'm off to Thailand in the morning!!! Wi will have her interview on the 15th, without me :( . But I will be there a few hours afterwards. I will be staying for a few weeks  ,, so we will have the time to wait for the "call" from the embassy to pick up her visa  . I will try my best to let you guys know how it went and what to expect. We will be returning to South Florida in early April. (L)

Thanks for all your help,
Brent

I realize this isn't the correct thread to post this but you all buy airfare to Thailand so...

I am trying to buy airfare from Boston to Thailand round trip and will need to buy airfare for Jass to join me on the return. The travel agent I use says she can't sell me Jass's ticket. I am concerned that if i don't buy all of the tickets at the same time we could end up on two different planes. Any solutions?

Do you have any travel agents or websites that you have used and can recommend?

Thanks
Mike

Hello All

I have a question about the child custody in thailand. My fiancee has a daughter. She told me that her ex-husband has the custody of her daughter. In thailand, father always has a custody of daughter? Is this true? Also, since my fiancee does not have a job, her ex-hubby will have custody of her daughter. So, I guess, her daughter can't accompany my fiancee to USA. On my I-129F, I put no children. Is this going to be a problem at the interview? Please, notify me if someone has had experience with this before.

Billy :help: :help: :help: :help:

Billy,
I am not familiar with custody rights over there. But "I" would do all the paper work for her now, as if she is in the mothers costody. But that's just me.

Mike,

www.thaiair.com has direct flights from New York to Bangkok. Buy two round trip tickets on their site. Delta and korean air both have good fairs but soooo long. again, buy round trip for you both.

Good luck.

Ken, Mike, and Robert,

In this thread, my post #80, on Febuary 2, 2006. I talked about the time Wi went to window 5. Wi talked the lady into taking the following,

Checklist
DS-230 Part I (unsigned)
Copy of passport
Two passport photos (2x2")

Oddly enough, when she arrived home, the mail delivered her packet 4 with her interview date?

I guess she was the last of the walk-ins.

hope this clears things up.

Hi again,

This must be a new procedure. We recieved our packet 4 in Febuary. It gave us our interview date, and a list of items needed for the interview. Not a request for any copy of passport or any pictures to be mailed in, just our date and a list of items in packet 3.

She later recieved a call from the embassy asking, "If it was possible to move her interview a few days earlier?" and, " asked if she could bring in all items from the list in packet 4 on the March 3rd at 9AM, along with her passport and two passport photos.

I don't know if this is their new way. Nor do I know if you have to mail in your packet 3 items. We were expecting to bring it with us on the day of our interview until they called.

Not knowing what to do is very frustrating. Just relax,, keep your phone near you. And do everything they ask.

Hi VJ members,

Wi's meeting went great on friday, March 3rd. She handed in her (well thought out) folder of all requirements, along with her passport. She was asked a few questions. "If she had quit her job yet?" (Wi told her, "not yet".) And, "If I had been sending her money, and does she have reciepts for it"? (Wi told her, "yes" and gave her the reciepts.)

She was told, "everything is in order". And, "to report back on March 13th for final interview".

As you know, We never recieved packet 3. They accepted all our downloaded forms from the embassy site.

I believe our application was a special exception, asking her to come in person, to hand in her packet 3, instead of mailing it to the embassy. Due to the timing of her interview. But then again, this may be the new procedure. This gives them time to review, and us time to bring in any missing items before our interview.

Anyway,,, hope this helps someone.

Mike,
I am not trying to put anyone in a panic. Just trying to help. Obviously the embassy has started a new process and we are the first applicants to go through it. There are some wrinkles in the new system that will be soon ironed out.

Wi did download the medical forms from the K1 first,,, and was denied seeing the doctor due to her missing some forms. So she downloaded the forms from the K3 section and went again,, where they did approve them. These are my statements

We did not recieve packet 3, we recieved only packet 4, which did not have the medical forms in them.

Now she has two meetings at the embassy. One to give the all required documents on March3rd and the final interview on March 13th.

These are facts. This is what we are going through now with the new process. Just thought you fellow Visajourney may want to know.

I apologize if I have created a panic to anyone who has read my posts.

Good luck to you all.

Hello Visajourney friends,
Wi recieved a phone call from the Bangkok embassy today requesting to move her interview from March 17th to the 13th saying that they will not be giving interviews that day.

Also told her that they want to see her with all her papers and passport this Friday, The 3rd of March to review papers and to be ready to surrender her passport to them at that time until Visa is approved. This means she has two meetings. One for packet 4 and one for interview.

By the way, Wi downloaded all her medical forms from K3 list of forms from embassy site. The doctor had no problem using them.

This may be the new policy? Two meetings? I haven't heard of this being done yet. And am worried about surrendering her passport to them.

Any guesses about these requests from them?

Thank you,
Brent

Sawasdee krap, khun Visajourney members!

My fiance, Wi,, managed to find her missing forms on her own from a Thai web site! I will find out where and post next time. She went to the same hospitol, recieved 4 shots, ouch! They gave back her forms in a sealed envelope! She passed!

Our interview is on Friday March 17th. I will be flying a week before and will stay for 3 weeks organizing her move here to South Florida Where we will have our official wedding!

We would like to go to the Carribean island of St. Marteen for our honeymoon. Do we need special permission to go outside of the States?

We would also like to go back to Thailand once or twice a year to visit and go shopping.

Can someone provide a link to the process for her to go? Or can we just go at will?

Thanks for all your help, this site has been a huge help!

Hello all,
Wi went to get her medical today. She was turned away for only having the three forms we downloaded from the Bangkok Embassy Site. She was told to return when she has all six forms that are provided for her in packet 3.

We still have not recieved packet 3 from the Embassy. The three forms she has is DS3024, DS3025 and DS3026 along with BKK-MEI (Instructions)

What 3 forms is she missing?

Thanks!

Remember I told you guys that the lady in window 5 would not give my fiance, Wi, packet 3? It turns out that she did take Wi's DS230 part1 form, a copy of her passport and two passport size photos that day. She still has not recieved a copy of packet 3 in the mail from the embassy, but oddly enough, she did recieve a letter confirming an interview date! March 17th, 2006 !

Can we do this without receiving packet 3 from embassy?

Is this a new way?

I have downloaded the checklist and all forms for packet 3 that are posted on the web site. I have sent her my I-134 form along with all required documents and letters. We have paid the 4000 baht at the post office and recieved the police information. All she needs is her doctors visit.

Has anyone had this happen to them?

Our one year anniversery is March 25th 2006, and we have made huge wedding plans to get married in Krabi on that day. With or without visa! ,,,,,To get an interview date one week before our wedding is truly fantastic!!!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresCo sponsor included with initial petition?
Thanks YuandDan. I have a followup questions....

If Casablanca does not require the I-134, then how do they know whether or not I meet the income requirement?

QUOTE (YuAndDan @ Jun 24 2009, 04:46 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Two things, I-134 is NEVER filed with I-129F when initially filing for a K-Visa, it is always brought to visa interview.

Secondly, Casablanca does not use or require the I-134, but is a good idea to have one handy at the interview just in case.

QUOTE
**Although instructions in packet 3 do not request an I-134 affidavit of support, it would be a good idea to have one ready just in case as an interviewer may choose not to grant the visa unless that form has been provided at the interview.**

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresCo sponsor included with initial petition?
I am starting to gather information to file the initial I-129F petition for the K1 visa (my fiance is in Morocco). I do not meet the income requirement on my own, so I have a co sponsor.
Do I need to include any of the co sponsor's information with the initial I-129F petition? OR Do we wait until the I-134 is requested to give the co sponsor's information?

I am wanting to give the co sponsor and idea of when we will need their documentation (like now before filing the I-129F or months from now when the I-134 is being reviewed).

Thanks so much!
