Good News guys! my fiancee's interview earlier today was a success..she got APPROVED!! she received the pink slip, paid delbros and she was out of the embassy at 10am. good.gif
she said the interview was quick and they didn't ask a lot of questions, just basic stuff about me and our relationship. I'm glad this process is over..for now. next is AOS but we've got everything we need already and we have VisaJourney kicking.gif so we're confident that the next step will be easy.
Thank You Lord, Thank You VJers and Thank You VisaJourney!!

ngayon pa lang nakapaginternet and i am so glad i did coz i just found an email from 'rds-builder@builder@teletech.com" (so teletech pala incharge sa visa appointment scheduling).. email was sent may 19. Subject was final appointment confirmation and they sent confirmation email for me and separate interview confirmation for each of my kids... hassle nga eh coz the first time isa lang naman un para sakin lang and sabi nila blanket confirmation na daw un, now had to pay na naman for printing dito sa net cafe.
.. but alls well parin.

Tips lang for those who will have medical: load up on citrus fruits, grapesa and apples... i didn't get fever after my immunization and my son who had four shots was also ok, no fever at all, so is my daughter who had 3shots... and they are in tip top shape, no flu, no colds, no coughs kahit na sobrang polluted and manila. We don't ride taxi but use jeep, mrt and lrt plus super walking kami from adtriatico to quirino grand stand sa roxas, may i langhap kami sa usok ng jeep and mabahong manila streets. before the medical kasi halos 1 kilo of grapes kami araw araw and also loading up on apples, ung maliit na super juicy.(may murang apples and grapes malapit sa quirino grandstand sa manila bay area. (140pesos/kg sa seedless grapes, 50pesos/9-10piraso nong dwarf na apples, 100pesos/7piraso ng grape fruit)... la ako komisyon jan ha, tuwa lang ako sa presyo sobrang mura even compared to davao.

Thank you very much for all the prayers, pls do continue to have us in your prayers for our interview on wednesday.

My prayers also goes for Riza and all others who will be having medical and interview this week.

jul thanks for updating the list.. i will just fix it up when i get home. good luck sa interview tomorrow.

Hi ate gaye welcome back! congrats sa succesful na medical nyo.

Check this out... a post about HOW TO AVOID THE WHITE SLIP DUE TO NSO DOC VERIFICATION...
http://www.visajourn...h...4332&st=105

I already posted my comment and my "rant" about this "document verification" thing. I think this is a waste of our time and money..but NSO can't even keep up with the whole process that you have to txt, call and fax different places just to make sure they are doing their job!

I hope you get your visa soon...Good Luck and God Bless!

Hi people!

Just came back from my interview at the embassy. Everything went well but a document still has to be verified...

CONSUL: "...everything seems to be ok. We will just have to wait fom one more document, then you're on your way..."

Thing is, I paid for the visa verification last April 16...I checked with Delbros and they said that the request was sent to the NSO last May 5...is that enough time for the NSO to send whatever document/s that the US embassy requests for?

Now, back to the embassy....on the releasing counter (where they give out the pink and white slips), I was asked to pay for document verification. I did not even bother to ask anymore or tell them that I paid for it prior to the interview. Besides, I dont know if there is any way for us to know if the NSO have finished and submitted the requested docs to the embassy or not... what I was thinking was that the embassy needed more or an additional document and that is why I was asked to pay for another document verification....did i think right?

Anyways, do any of you guys know or has any idea as to how long this will take? I am hoping that the first payment that I made, the documents requested there are not yet with the embassy and that the NSO is just about to provide them with the documents. That will make things faster, right? If not, then, what we looking at?...weeks...months?

Kenneth

Hi Riza,
In my DS157, i attached an additional sheet as my answer for number 12 (work) and 17 (school), i put the complete address for all of them. In the ds157 form question 12 and 17 i just put in the box "see attachment please".
-Shape
Thanks Shape. Another questions, did you include your high school? It stated "Include vocational institutions but not elementary schools." -Riza

I was thinking of just putting the city where the company is located but maybe I should follow you guys and put in complete address. yes.gif

As for the school, I will be including high school... i just don't know if I should include all those other short courses I took like, therapeutic massage, flower arrangement, etc. which lasted from 2days to 2months.

My college credentials is already a little.. i don't know, check this out: 1st & 2nd year BS Physical therapy, then shifted to Commerce and finished BS in Commerce maj. in Marketing.. after several years took units in education, passed the LET board and proceeded to take MA in Special Education... then didn't take comprehensive exam and Thesis.. then took short courses on therapeutic massage: reflexology, accupressure, etc.

Di ko alam, ganito na pala ka-messy education background ko sad.gif .. they'd probably think, so what do you really want to do? (my work history could probably compensate coz its all in the field of commerce.)

I know I should put in the big universities i attended but should I put in those short courses? therapeutic massage is already included in TESDA's list of vocational courses but i only attented the two months and the school I went to was not even TESDA accredited that time. pls help me decide on this...

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionHow long to receive Visa from Guangzhou embassy
Hello All,

My fiancee received her interview date for September 27, 2010. I know that they do not give the Visa the same day, so it will be mailed. My fiancee advised me that October 1-October 8 is a holiday, so that may delay the delivery of the visa as well. Has anyone interviewed in Guangzhou recently and if so, how long did it take from the interview date to receive the visa? I need to purchase an airline ticket for her but don't want to buy it until i know she has the visa in hand.

She will be arriving a few days before the interview by plane, but will be taking the train back to Zhenjiang. She is telling me it takes 33 hours by train to travel from guangzhou to her city. WOW! On top of that, she says if you do not purchase a ticket early, she will have to stand. So any info would be appreciated. Thank you

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionI-751 fees?
After a little research, I answered my own question....

Go to .... http://www.uscis.gov.../I-751instr.pdf

Looks like right now the fees are - $465 (filing fee) + $80 (biometric fee) = $545 total

Check or money order is accepted. See the link above for FULL details.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionEvidence and Sworn Affidavits
Hi Senka,
This a little off subject but I noticed in your message you said you had 16 items of evidence....wow! I'm in the same boat as you as I'm preparing my I-751 packet to be mailed by mid January. I know that everyone's situation is different but could you share what those 16 items are? I'm racking my brain to come up with as much evidence as possible.
Thanks so much~Scott

US Citizenship General Discussiondissolution of marriage, pending password
Hello Guys,

I have a somewhat complicated question. What is the process of someone that has subbmited her US citizenship application and she recieved already the letter saying that USCIS recieved her applicatioin and the check has already been cashed. Now what happens if this person that is trying to get her US citizeship through her spouse (three years instead of five)however they are going through a dissolution of marriage. She filed the application for citizenship when they separating. Now my question is, does this effect at all her recieving her US ctizeship, or she will now have to wait the standard 5 years to get her citizenship.

Thank you

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionMoroccan Consulate "Lost" the Forms
This morning (Morocco morning time) Houssain was getting ready to go to Casa to pick up his visa (approved, yay!). But the consulate called him and said they lost some of his forms, and they need them before they will issue the Visa. He called me and told me all this while he was on his way to the consulate this morning. They "lost" the following forms: DS 156k, DS 156, DS 157 and DS 230 part 1.
I called the consulate right at 3:00pm (morocco time) and the woman I spoke to was quite rude, and unhelpful. She said that Houssain would need to bring the forms (which was not a problem, because he had them with him today). I asked why he was not told this before today, because he is supposed to get his visa today. She just kept repeating (in a rude manner) "I'm sorry ma'am. We never lose forms, I don't know what happened, but we need them before he gets the visa." I told her he gave the forms to them at the first interview. She said "I don't know what happened ma'am, maybe the interviewer gave the forms back to him." I said, very slowly, "No. The interviewer kept the forms, and gave nothing to Houssain but the 221g letter about additional review." She said they will take the forms today, but they won't have the visa ready until Monday! I was respectful, but firm, about the fact that the consulate lost the forms, and they should make an exception to get his visa ready by close-of-business TODAY. She said "That won't be possible. I'm sorry ma'am but the fact is that we did not have the forms this morning, and do not have enough time to process the visa by today." I told her that he has to work next week and will not have time to get the visa next week. She said "well, he can have someone pick it up for him." I said to her "Would you want someone else to pick up somethign as important and private as your visa? I don't think so, ma'am!"
Needless to say, Houssain took the forms to the consulate, he called me and told me that they said "we will call you", meaning the visa will not be ready until next week.
You know, I can deal with the "administrative review", making sure we are both really in love and not terrorists and all that, I can deal with having to wait a few days to get the visa, BUT what I cannot accept is that the reason Houssain has to go through all this stress is because the consulate lost the forms! I mean, they hold us accountable for sending them all the correct forms and money and being there on-time, so why should they not be held accountable when they screw-up?

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionHoussain did it! Visa In Hand!

This is great news !!!

Are you planning any celebratory meal for this evening?

Good idea, but it wouldn't be the best without him here to share it. :) Maybe I can postpone that celebration until our first meal together here in the states. (L)

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionHoussain did it! Visa In Hand!
Houssain has the Visa, in his passport, in his hands! :D Alhamdulillah! Allahu Akbar! (L) I am so relieved, I cried when he told me.

It almost didn’t happen. The consulate was supposed to have the visa ready this past Friday, but they lost some forms, so Friday was spent with him taking new forms to the consulate. They told us it would be ready Monday, then I called Monday and they said it will be ready Tuesday. I called Tuesday, and they said it will be printed Tuesday. Well, they actually printed it this morning (Wednesday) and called Houssain. They told him to come pick it up tomorrow (Thursday). He can’t, because he has to work. So, he mad rushed to the train station to get the next train to Casablanca and be there about 3:45. (Keep in mind, he had to be there before 4:00 to pick up the visa today.) Well, the train was delayed due to some issue, and he did not arrive in Casablanca until after 4:00 (oh no!) He grabbed a taxi and ran to the consulate! (he told me “I was running like a thief, like I stole something!” LOL) The security guard told him “sorry, they’re done for the day” and would not let Houssain inside. Houssain went to the window, and saw a man that recognized Houssain from last week. (Houssain and this guy actually got into a heated discussion last week, and this guy actually told Houssain “Do you want the visa or not?”, but that’s another story)
So, Houssain asked this guy “PLEASE PLEASE let me have the visa today. The train was supposed to be here on time, but it was late.” Houssain showed the guy the train ticket as proof. The man said some snippy remark about being late, but he gave Houssain the Visa and the paperwork for his point of entry when he gets to New York!
Alhamdulillah! (may Allah bless that rude little man!)
So, tomorrow my honey goes back to work after his holiday, and we start the process of planning his trip. I know he has to work for the next month, before he can leave his job. So, we are probably looking at sometime in the 1st/2nd week of March for his arrival, insha’allah. It would be so awesome if we could be married on March 20th, which is the first day of Spring (kind of symbolic of new beginnings).

I wish the best to everyone, as always.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionApproval From Morocco :)
Alhamdulillah, Houssain’s Visa was Approved! “Happy” cannot begin to describe what I feel right now! I keep thinking, “Is this truly happening?”, it almost doesn’t seem real. He goes to the consulate tomorrow afternoon to pick up the Visa. We haven’t really discussed yet about when he will be coming and all the details. I mean, he just called me and told me 2 hours ago, so we will talk about all the arrangements over the next few days, insha’allah.

So here’s what happened: His appointment was at 8:30am. He showed up at 8:15am. They called him inside, he sat down with the American guy. The man asked a few questions, which had already been asked at the 1st interview and were not really anything to worry about – like “Why do you love her?”, “Do you like her kids?”, etc. Houssain said all good things about me, of course, and that he loves each of my kids and can’t wait to meet them. Houssain told the interviewer that “me and Jennifer match”. The interviewer asked for examples of how Houssain thought we were a good match. Houssain explained that our sense of humor is so similar and that we think about things in life in the same way. Houssain told him “When I go to Europe and tell a Moroccan joke, nobody gets it. But when I tell Jennifer, she gets the joke and laughs. And she makes me laugh. I do love her so much.”
The man just listened, then gave Houssain a little blue paper with a number on it, and told Houssain to come back to the consulate tomorrow at 3:00pm to pick up his visa! Yay! :)

One odd thing about this process, I have to say, is that I do not make above the required poverty line. In fact, for my household size, I make about $3000 under the designated poverty line. So, of course, we had a co-sponsor fill out the forms, thinking they would be needed. Well, Houssain took the co-sponsor forms to the consulate this morning, and they never asked for them. They actually approved the Visa on just my income alone (which, again, is under the poverty line). I am happy about this, hamdulillah, but it was unexpected from everything I had heard previously read about this process.

Anyway, best of luck to those who are waiting, and congratulations to the recent approvals.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionMy ROC package checklist

Hey everyone

So I'm putting my ROC package together and I wanted to post my Checklist on here so y'all can tell me what you think and let me know if there's anything Im forgetting

*Payment $590
*Cover Sheet
* Form I-751
*Copy of Green card

*Copy of both of our Driver's licenses with same address
*Copy of our apartment lease
*Utility bills (Electric bill, Internet/Cable bill). I'm including copies of 5 different months. Should I include more?
*Bank Statements with our names as joint on account (how many should I include?)
*Joint tax returns from the last 2 years
*Car insurance showing both of our names.
*Marriage certificate

*Both of our biography passports and visa pages showing proof of our trip back to Venezuela visiting my family, Boarding tickets as well.
*copy of receipt showing proof that we bought tickets to go on a cruise to the Bahama. Also Copy of our room key on the cruise Showing our names and room number. Bill of expenses on the cruise.
*Pictures taken on our wedding day, trip to the Bahamas and Venezuela.

Is there anything I'm forgetting? or that I should include? Thank you.

Please read carefully as I was a July 2012 filer who just got RFE'd for lack of sufficient evidence. I put in:

2 years tax return in both our names
several months joint checking acct summaries

2012 car insurance card

2012 joint health insurance
home title fully paid off in both our names.
not only pictures but a USB of pictures with time stamps and gps location tags.

The answer I received was:

The evidence submitted does not establish, in sifficnt detail, joint ownership of assets for the duration of the marriage. etc... Supporting documentation must cover AS MUCH OF THE MARITAL PERIOD AS POSSIBLE and must also indicate joint financial responsibilty and joint residentcy for that same time period.

So MY advice is not to skimp on what you submit. My bank is printing every statement for the past 3 years (for free at the local branch) and I pick them up tomorrow.

Removing Conditions on Residency General Discussionhow far back should bank statements go?

Unfortunately, I had the same impression.  I got RFE'd.  I just sent last Thursday 3 years of her acct (used for her payroll), our combined household acct, and our combined savings acct.  3 years of IRS filings, proof of car insurance, health insurance for 3 years, combined credit card statements as well.

They want it through the life of the marriage.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionWhy these many Biometrics?

The correct answer has probably already been stated, but my two cents worth, are 3 biometrics, 3 fees.

You do the math.

And that is the key that we are all missing.  "for every month".

Our interview is set for next Tuesday. 50 weeks after we sent in our removal of conditions

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionUSCIS frustrates me (just venting)

If it makes you feel better and it will not.  We filed i751 July 21, 2012, just had out interview today (verbal approval) and we will apply for the US citizenship in 6 days.  Took 51 weeks for verbal approval.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionI would ask Visa Journey to include this in their Samples

The latest update, after I sent in all the statements from 3 years, irs forms (again), Title of home (again), more photos, etc we got an interview date where we were told to bring, mortgage, bank statements, irs tax statements (all again).

I went to the irs website and had transcripts sent (took about 10 days), I reprinted all the bank statements again, etc.  I also had printed 466 photos.

Agent asked us if we had anything new that she did not already have.  She looked and had all that the paper asked for again, we also gave her the transcripts and the 466 pictures.

Now get this....  Not all pictures had both of us in the same picture.  But we had each other in the same shot, I would take her, she would take mine.  All date stamped.  She said well who took these pictures?  After giving her a stunned look, I said, well, I took my wife's picture and then she took mine.  all the way back over 3 years.  She gave us back the photos and said, ok I am going to approve the 10 year extension.  Here are your photos.

Total time to VERBAL approval - 51 weeks.

As a side note in 5 more days she will apply for US citizenship.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionI would ask Visa Journey to include this in their Samples

It appears for the past several months a HUGE amount of I-751's are being rejected as "the supporting evidence does not sufficiently establish that you and your spouse entered the marriage in good faith and continue to share a good life together".

I (Larry and Ella) submitted the deed (fully paid for) for our house in our names, sent  the 2011 and 2012 12 tax forms, a joint check account for several months, two affidavits (notarized) Joint health insurance cards, joint auto club cards, deed in both names, insurance policy showing beneficiary credit card statements, etc, and a USB of pictures.  My wife has over a thousand pictures with date and GPS coordinates in some cases,

USCIS stated: The evidence does not establish, in sufficient detail, JOINT OWNERSHIP of assets, Joint responsibility for liabilities, and/or an active co-mingling of finances "FOR THE DURATION" of the marriage.  Supporting documentation must cover as much of the marital period as possible, and must also indicate joint financial responsibility and joint residency for that same period.

Larry: The key words appears to be for the joint and for the duration of the marriage.

So leases have to be rewritten?  Cars that are already owned and paid for and you get a discount for being the original owner need to be re-titled, phone service, cable service, electric statements, and if you have any loans, must be in both names?

Well, holy #######.

I had to send the entire bank statements for every month showing deposits or withdrawals on every account we had.  Gee USCIS, do you really need to know I like turkey sandwiches at the grocery store?

What is so bad is that we both are almost joined at the hip we are so close to each other after 3 & 1/2 years of marriage and cannot possibly think of a time when we would wish to change that.  She  has her own car (hybrid paid for).  We even have electric mopeds that we ride around.  Her facebook page gets updates several times a week with new pictures.  She really like pictures of herself or us, hehehe.

Anyway, If Visa Journey would like, I can scan my letter from USCIS.  I did return USCIS asked for several months ago and still no word.

National Visa Center (Dept of State)I-864 question

Hello VJers!

I'm petitioning my mother (from Philippines) and getting ready to send the I-864 and my supporting docs. My wife and I file our taxes as joint, I'd like to add her as my (is it co-sponsor? or joint?). Which form should my wife fill out to go along with my I-864? Is it form I-864A or another I-864 form? And yes she has all her supporting docs ready. I'm just confused as to which form she should fill out.

Thank You!

National Visa Center (Dept of State)Mother's Birth Certificate not available

Oh wow, thanks JRluvsLhyn!

You just confirmed what my mother-in-law told me that she was able to get a Birth Cert by doing a late registration. Now I have to convince MY Mother to do the same! - - - My only problem now is that it will hold up the IV process because I have to wait for it to become available from NSO. I can't submit the civil docs without my mother's Birth Cert to support the DS-260 form.

I hope it doesn't take 2 months. lol

Thanks again!

National Visa Center (Dept of State)Mother's Birth Certificate not available

Hello!

quick background: IR-5 petitioning my mother from the Philippines, paid AOS and IV fee, submitted I-864 and supporting docs - now completing IV application form and gathering civil docs.

My question/issue right now is my mother was born in 1942 and NSO was not able to provide any Birth Certificate for her. She explained to me: Because of the year that she was born, civil docs were mostly lost or destroyed at that period...

Instead NSO gave her a  "certificate" that proves that she doesn't have any Birth Certificate. I'm not sure what its called but she was able to get a PH Passport using this "NSO certificate".

now besides Baptismal Certificate (which another document that my mother cannot find or get anywhere) What other possible secondary civil doc can she use?

cEzYcHiC, I just filled out a new I-864 and I-864A forms with the corrections. I did not include any supporting docs. I read somewhere in one of the forums that I don't need to and also the letter says send only the requested corrections.

Thank you Zee Zee!

So enter both our income which is whats on our 1040, got it. And yes I noticed the I-864 Instructions that comes with the form is confusing. Looks like they updated the Form I-864 itself but not the Instructions because some parts and items on that step-by-step were missing or have a different number on the form.

Thanks again!

Background: I am a US Citizen, filed petition for my mother (Philippines), paid both AOS fee and IV fee, sent I-864 and I-864A (spouse is the co-sponsor). But yesterday I received this letter in the email:

Part 1 Information on the Household Member [x] ..................'s income indicated on line 11 of the I-864A does not correspond to that shown on the most recent tax return and W-2(s)."

and the other letter:

"Form I-864, Affidavit of Support, & Financial Evidence Checklist)

Please review the instructions below then refer to the final page of this checklist for mailing instructions.               I-864, Affidavit of Support Checklist [x] The Affidavit of Support is an important legal contract between you and the U.S. government. During our review, we identified one or more sections that were either incomplete or contained incorrect information.  Please review the additional instructions below then complete and submit anew Affidavit of Support.  You can download the I-864 form and instructions at http://www.uscis.gov/i-864.

The Form I-864 we received was missing the following page(s). Please ensure you include all nine pages when you resubmit the form.
You must submit the following financial evidence:
NVC Special Instructions

The lines in red are the ones I believe needs to be corrected.. both lines from I-864 and I-864A are the lines where we enter the total gross income for the last 3 recent tax year. I entered ONLY my individual income in all three lines from the last 3 years on I-864 and then my wife also entered ONLY her income on form I-864A. Is this where I messed up? Should we combine both our annual income and enter it for each tax year since we file Jointly on our income tax?

Hi!
Ok their website says: "Starting March 19, 2008, those applying for K-1,K-2,K-3 an K-4 visa(s) WHO HAVE BEEN NOTIFIED BY THE EMBASSY TO PREPARE FOR THEIR INTERVIEW....."
It means they are going to notify the applicant BEFORE calling to schedule an interview, right?

Hey thanks guys!
So some people still getting their packet in the mail while others did not get anything at all they just called the embassy...? I'm gonna ask my fiancee to call the embassy and ask them about it just to make sure. I think this new system is nice but they should atleast send a letter or something confirming that the petition was received and ready to make an appointment for interview.

Hey guys, again blush.gif
Do you guys know if the US embassy in Manila sends out a letter or a notice to the fiance(e) to inform her/him that they received the application and it's ok to schedule a visa interview?
I know the embassy in manila has this new appointment system that you can call or go online to schedule an appointment for a visa interview but I'm not sure if they still notify the beneficiary in the philippines OR he/she needs to call the embassy to confirm if they have the application already. I was just confused and amazed that on their website they have all the info and the forms needed..even the packet for completing the required documents!
