K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsAPRIL Filers!!
NOA2 CRIS Email!
We got our CRIS email today stated they put our NOA2 in the mail. How soon can I expect it and how soon can I expect NVC
to have it? Does anyone know the approximate wait time for the name check? Just so I know how it goes next, can anyone double check this so it looks like I understand it correctly.

1.wait for NOA2 in mail
2. NOA2 goes to NVC
3. FBI name check
4. NOA2 sends petition to embassy
5. Embassy sends pack to fiance
6. Fiance gets everything and then sends it back to Embassy
7. Embassy sends letter with appointment date
8. Appointment

Right?

OOOO. Now what do I do? The only thing I need to do send to him is the affidavit of support right, and supporting evidence of being together? What else? I'll be there with him at the interview, but what should I get together now?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsAPRIL Filers!!
GOOD NEWS GUYS! I called the CSC last night to play the "Do I have an RFE's" game, just to see if they had any additional information on my case. They lady was way nice and said, no they still hadn't taken any action on my case, but it was just assigned to an officer. So... I know that they will be working on it soon. I asked how long it takes normally once it has been assigned. She said it depends on many "buckets" of cases were assigned to that officer at the time. She said they can be assigned 2 buckets or 15 buckets. It really just depends. I asked, "well on average..." And she said that once it's been assigned to an officer, it generally takes no more then 2 weeks. I was so happy just to think that they hadn't forgotten about us. Good Luck everyone! I hope we all hear back from them soon!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsAPRIL Filers!!
I am new to Visa Journey, don't know how I just found it! But I am an April filer! I am looking at how close I am! Unfortunately, I am travelling out of the country (living with my fiance) and am not at my address. I gave my parents address, so hopefully it will arrive anytime soon!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresMy fiance isn't legal in the country that I met him

It sounds like the police were trying to scare him. If they really wanted them all out of the country, there is a deportation process and it would have to be documented. Get the police report now BEFORE you file your I-129 and see what it says so you know how to complete your form and there are no suprises later. Based on the outcome of this, you may need to consider a lawyer.

THANKS EVERYONE. I'm living here in Italy now, and many of my Italian friends have no clue. My fiance lives here now, still, as well. Tomorrow I'm going to the Procura Generale with his copy of his passport. I hope they they were really just scarying him. Will it be a problem that I'm asking for the police report before I've even had my NOA2 and I'm just it on my own before hand? Plus, anyone have any information on the Slovenian police report process? He has a visa for there for 9 months, but only stayed 1. He doesn't have an exit stamp, so I figure it won't hurt to get it anyways, but the only sites I see are in Slovenian and I don't understand.
Thanks!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresMy fiance isn't legal in the country that I met him
He used to live in apartment with some loud guys. They were sighted for noise distrubance, but many of them weren't legal, so when the cops came for the noise disturbance, they finger printed all the ones who weren't legal and told them they needed to leave the country. He didn't, if he did, I never would have met him.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresMy fiance isn't legal in the country that I met him
My fiance came to Italy, the country where we met and stayed together for over 2 years. Now that we are trying to get married, I am worried about going to the police to get his police report that says they had stopped him, noting that he leave, having entered illegally. I am worried that the police having this notice may stop his paper work. Has anyone else had a similiar problem?

In addition, he is from Kosovo, which is currently governed by the United Nations. He has to go to Macedonia for the interview...whenever that will be. Also, does anyone know what would happen if Kosovo receives independence, and all new passports have to be issued? How long could this take!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresVisa Journey doesn't list my fiance's embassy + government change?
Does anyone know about the Macedonian embassy? My fiance isn't from Serbia but his country is currently run my the United Nations Mission in Kosovo so he has to have his interview in another country, in Macedonia. Has anyone had any experience with this? Visa Journey only lists Yugoslavia, and doesn't have Serbia, Montegro, or Macedonia as even options. Also, anyone have any idea what would happen to the process if there is a change in government?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresFiance's weird mailing address
My fiance's mailing address goes something like this:

Country:
Town and Town's zip code
Family Name:
So it's like, once you get in the town, the mailman goes around on his moto asking everyone where this person lives until they find it.
Weird. Anyone have anything similiar. I hope this doesn't slow things down significantly...eeee..

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresGot my RFE in the Mail today
Is there someone that knows both of you and has seen you two together recently? Perhaps you could get them to write a letter or something and have it notarized. My mom wrote a letter of support stating she had met, and when. my fiance and would welcome him into our family. She took it to the bank and got it notarized. Maybe, that could be substituted for something else, if they write when they were with you?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresLiving with fiancée while waiting for K1?
I am currently abroad living with my fiance, but all my paper work is for my permanent address in the states. I will say that is has been an added stress, not having things readily accessible, and relying totally on family in the states to let me know if things have arrived. If you have someone living at your place in the states, or someone that can check mail, that may be easier, and they can forward everything to you, or fax, however. It has been stressful, though, feeling sometimes I could have been a better help back in the states. If you do decide to stay in ecuador, bring all the original paperwork with you, for your information. The only thing that may be a problem is, if your doing and affidavit of support, you may have to go back to get that. Good Luck.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresPlease Help, Question on Police Certificate
Here is what I wrote to the consulate:

Good Morning,
I have a question regarding the required police reports. My fiance, from Kosovo, had a work visa for Slovenia valid for 9 months. On some websites I see that police reports are required for stays more than a year or more than 6 months. Being that his visa was only for 9 months, I am not sure what is required. This is where my question is : My fiance left Slovenia after less than a month, and moved to Italy, where I met him. His visa dates are for 25 November 2003- 23 August 2004 He has no passport stamps that show that he entered Italy, nor a visa for Italy. He does not have a residence permit for Italy, either. He did, though, register with "Gente di Pace" , People of Peace, in Rome on February 11, 2004, which means that he had to have been in Rome to Register. It states that the recognized him as a Person of Peace who lives in Italy. Because he has this, and was never really in Slovenia for longer than a month, do we still have to get a police report from Slovenia? We do have this document that isn't from the government of Italy, but from the church of Italy in Rome, that states he was in Italy. Would this be valid evidence to state that he wasn't in Slovenia for longer that 6 months and so we don't need to get his Police Report?
Thank you so much for helping me understand the process,

This is what the Consulate wrote:

In addition to the Kosovo police certificate, your fiancé must produce a police certificate from other countries where he has lived for at least 1 year since age 16. He may then need a certificate from Italy, if he has stayed there for over 1 year. According to the Immigrant Visa Instructions, he must also, if applicable, obtain a police certificate of any place where the applicant has been arrested for any reason, regardless of how long he lived there. We cannot evaluate documents via e-mail, therefore he may bring the Gente di Pace document along with him to the interview for evaluation, if he has resided there for over 1 year.

Sincerely,

Immigrant Visa Unit

So do we have to get a police certificate from Slovenia? Our friend went to the office to try and get it, because it would be easier to have it, of course, but the office is closed until August 20 (everyone takes a month long vacation), how convenient. So I am wondering... it seems in the email that he doesn't need the evidence from Slovenia?

Thanks to anyone who can help me with this!
