Some people might make up a timeline of events which would include the end of the previous marriages. It's really important for these questions to seek out consulate specific advice. What someone might tell someone going through the UK will be DIFFERENT for someone going through Sri Lanka. (or Someone from Sri Lanka who is going through London for some reason). In order to keep the questions and answers straight, I would gently suggest that a different thread (or a search of your regional forum) might be more appropriate for you as the OP here is from London, where the situation may not be very difficult to overcome. They couldn't possibly care less about your marital status when you met. I wish that were the case for us. we were both specificaly asked by the CO... her in person as well as by phone and me by phone, why we entered into a relationship when we were both still legally married. Our divorces took a long time to get finalized. They also contacted both of our former spouses to verify the fact that we were not still living together or comitting fraud. If you are clear, nothing to worry. What a bunch of #######! We were in AP for 8 months and I have friends that are almost 1 year now... Please think before you post misinformation... Just saying... If I was doing something like this, I'd choose the Immigration Liason Staffer at my US Senator's office, to send flowers to, and it wouldn't be anonymous - I'd want him/her to know it was from me. They are not allowed to accept anything valued at more than 5$. and even that could create problems.. I discussed this wth my ILO... I asked if pizza showed up anonymously at lunch what would happen.. "it would get eaten""... any other gifts from an individual would get refused/returned... if they accept something from someone they run the risk of losing thier position... I would have an issue with a response from my atty that he was 'pretty sure" about the assembly of my petition... he should have a copy and be 100% sure... As was said in the previous post, there could be any number of reasons why they are delaying the approval... it could be due to an issue with something in the documents or in someones background or many other reasons.. one never knows at this stage.. all one can do is wait and stay in contact with the congressional rep on a regular basis... The issue is not if one can ship the goods..as long as they are not prohibited import items, they can be shipped to the US.. the issue is whether one would have to pay duty on the goods being shipped... this is why they ask for the itemization and value in the shipping documents.. it only takes one person at CBP to look at the parcel and decide that you need to pay a huge duty to import the goods... when one is immigrating to the US they consider the goods personal property and will not hit you with a duty on them... with a few exceptions... In the past some mebers have run into an issue whereas they sent goods... the goods were labeled personal property associated with immigration.. no visa had been issued and at that time there was immigration that could legally take place.. the goods got delayed in customs and were eventually released after the SO arrived in the US.. It was not a comfortable method... it is often advised that one sends some goods with the spouse prior to the approval and to bring the remainder when the visa has been issued or after.. During this time period I have calculated that 31,000 visa applications were made - in 7 weeks!!! They sure are busy..................... number sounds low when it comes to cases through USCIS..... could just be 31000 k1's in 7 weeks... They do alot more cases overall in that time frame... My congressman helped us alot and his office is a few blocks from my home so it was easy to go to the office for a face to face discussion... it makes things easier than back and forth over the phone or by mail... keep in mind that all they can really do is make a status inquiry.. that means they can email the USCIS office and ask whats up with mr x's case... they cant 'make' anyone do anything... All of it can and has been doctored and submitted... except videos which are not accepted. They want to see proof of a bona fide relationship and pictures with friends and family on different dates in different places is considered one of the primary things submitted and a notarized timeline of the relationship is often suggested as a way to explain the relationship to the CO... I figure that is seven days to pack up and say the goodbyes while the visa is en route but enough left over so I can spend a week after we arrive home so I don't have to immediately head back to work. dont be surprised if you have to reschedule the flight for some reason... The CO will be highly skeptical given the timing. Take your time.. document the evolution of the relationship and make shure this one isn't wrong for you as well.... Once the case has been sent to HCMC.. start calling DoS and ask for the case status.. they will be able to tell you when the pkt 3 has been mailed out... no need to pickup pkt 3 as it is available online... you can download the documents from the HCMC Consulate website .. complete them and email or fax them to the consulate once they have mailed the pkt 3 to her... We e-mailed the Consulate when we did not receive packet 3, and they essentially e-mailed me, the petitioner packet 3. A few days later we received packet 3 in the mail. We did the same thing with packet 4 when we were coming up to the 3 months mark and we did not get packet 4 yet. They usually respond within 1-2wks. whenever we e-mailed them. Good luck!
