At our consulate they frown on giving a visa without knowing the petitioner is sitting outside..... They actually look for any reason to deny.... "what, he don't love you enough to be here?" They dont actuallly let the petitioner on the property.. gotta wait accross the street at the cafe' or sit on the sidewalk... I wouldn't miss it for anything.... I am dying to see the smile on her face when she walks out of the building... OMG.. got me teared up thinking about it...

What's your timeline Scott?

I'm looking realistically at late Jan to Feb sometime for the visa... 7 or 8 months best case... we have at least 3 months after NVC... and I dont think we will see NOA2 & NVC until Oct or Nov. Any of us June filers that get NOA2 before Oct will be blessed...

can't plan a wedding except the one for her family there.. but that one wont be legal.it will be fun!.. She is going nuts now as they just told her she is getting laid off from work starting at the end of the month and wont have work until Jan at best... So I told her dont sweat the loss of 140 /mo .... hang out with the family and enjoy the time together before she leaves... she looks at it as a bunch of time to be bored and miss me...

Thank you Scott smile.gif

So John and I have been thinking that we need him to visit soon again for more proof of an ongoing relationship and cause we miss each other like crazy luv.gif lol.. We've been thinking which is better September or December (around my interview time)... And after a few days of thinking we decided that it would be better that he attends the interview with me and that way we would get to save money for both our tickets... I can't wait to be with him again.. The thought is bringing tears to my eyes. blush.gif

I can relate.... I want to go visit Thuy now and I found Rt tickets for under 1000. usd.(really cheap).. but I thought it would be better to save some money and wait until November... I expect Interview Jan or Feb... I will go back then as well. and dont forget another 1000 for AOS after you guys get married...

So I was thinking, if we all start posting in March, April and May VSC petition threads and convince them all that they are making a huge mistake and should withdraw their petitions then all of us June people can jump straight to the head of the line.

Have a cup of coffee and rethink that idea.... I can't imagine September filers doing anything that selfish to us June filers. VJ is a site created to support others through the Journey... patience.. it will happen....

Just curious, what did they say they were needing evidence of? I'm biting my nails in concern now that I may have left somethign out :-s

They didnt say anything.. I realized my oversights after I joined VJ..as I did a great deal of reading and asked a bunch of questions.. So rather than waiting for the RFE I sent a supplemental pkg addressing the issues I found and then some.. VN is one of the most difficult consulates to get through... So I added additional info on the front end that they tend to blue slip for on the back end. still no touch from the packet I sent them last week.

More good news Aya! I hope DHL does what you need them to do...

I've asked before at the post office I deal with if I could get any mail forwarded t my PO and they said the mail gets sent to the address on the envelope or the packet... Guess I'm going on Saturday and asking again... We have a very sensitive situation and having a hard time already with family stuff.... Please pray this gets solved soon...

Guys, I have a question...

In our I-129F I wrote the address I reside in, and a separate piece of paper wrote the mailing address we like USCIS and the US embassy in Cairo to mail me at (which is a mail box at the post office), then we both dated the paper and signed it... How can we make sure this is the address they are going to use to mail me? Is there anyway I can receive the visa packets there? John has sent me a few packages before and things go as such: I get a call from the PO saying I have a mail, I go there and check it, then go to a different building and pay fees that I received a package and get my packages. And when he used Express Mail to send packages I used to repeat the same steps only after checking the mail that I received a package I take a trip to the main PO in Cairo (it's a long and hard one) to go check it... And as you all know packages get checked and opened so that they make sure the content is safe...

So how can we make sure we are going to receive the visa mail and packets to my mailing address? Is there any harm if they got opened by the main PO? Do I have to sign a paper that I received a visa packet? This seems kinda confusing and we're a little worried right now... unsure.gif

To my knowledge, Government Agencies do not send mail to a P.O. Box address. Check with them to make sure.

We hope not.... wacko.gif How can we check?

You can try calling but I think its a few months premature...

NOA2 will be sent to John. Packet 3 & 4 will come from Cairo and will be sent to Aya likely at residence, unless they pickup on the fact that there is a different mailing address.Dont be surprised if they dont do it as you want. I would recommend that you send the Embassy an email once it leaves NVC letting them know the address issue or even try calling then. It is a common thing in that mail ddelivery in some countries can be difficult especially to rural areas... It is fairly common to have items sent to Postal Boxes in a big city near the beneficiaries town or even to a relatives address.

Good luck ScottThuy! Let us know how it goes...
John got me a few numbers and addresses of doctors who do the medical test for the visa in Egypt to call and ask what I should do about my shots records... I still really wanna know what are the medical problems that might make one ineligible for the visa? Does cavity count? lol.. Joking tongue.gif.. I just really like to be ready..
Yesterday I was checking our VJ timeline and it said "Based on timeline data, your I129f may be adjudicated between October XX, 2009 and November 1, 2009*."
Today I checked again and it says: 'Based on timeline data, your I129f may be adjudicated between November 6, 2009 and November 28, 2009*.'!!!!! Isn't that frustrating?! Seriously, how long this process is going to take! mad.gif

I am hoping NOA2 by end of September but my timeline now says between November 20, 2009 and December 12, 2009... might as well say by the end of the year....
the health thing is that they check for serious health issues... HIV, TB etc... oh yeah and hope you dont have a hang nail or acne that day.... laughing.gif but really if you feel like you have the flu and are congested.. wait a few days to go for the medical....

ScottThuy, you just have given me a few good ideas about things to do before NOA2 smile.gif..

Kimberly, a fellow VJ user whose now husband is from Egypt like I am sent me packet 3 forms.. They were both in English and Arabic and I read then quite a few times. She said she was not sure if I am going to receive exactly similar forms, but at least I have an idea now how they would look like. May be you can ask someone here on VJ that is from England or their fiance/fiancee is from England to send you packet 3 forms if they have reached that stage yet.

The photos I sent to John before he sent our K1 papers were actually smaller than his, but he noticed and got them reprinted with the same size as his and like they are supposed to be. blush.gif

I really hope none of gets any RFE's.. It's really hard enough to make it without our loved ones...

What I am worried about now (and we all are worried by some reason or another lol) is the medical exam. I don't have a record of the shots that I have had all my life and don't know if I have missed any. I also am not sure what medical problems could be something at the test, not that I have any thank God but just to know... What am I supposed to prepare for it and so on..?

Tomorrow I am sending a supplement to my initial filing to address anything that could result in an RFE. I will let you know if the accept it... I originally sent her pic that was the wrong size and her 325A's were not originals they were scanned copies.. oh yeah I also forgot to include a translation of her divorce decree.. headbonk.gif . so with all of that I am also including a few things that are unique to her country that are common issues at the interview... if USCIS has seen them, then they can't be an issue at the interview... I put a copy of the NOA1 in there with the bar code to see if that helps things to get matched up in VSC... With luck it won't get returned to me and I may get processed along the way.. yeah I know wishful thinking.. good.gif

I too pray for a smooth ride through this journey for all of us. As patience has NEVER been my strong point, this process is definitely teaching me about how to be more patient. It is early in the journey for all of us, and I think that by the end of it we will all be bald from pulling our hair out. LOL! At least we have each other....thank goodness! I hope Vermont keeps up the pace and we all get out NOA2's around the 4 month mark instead of the projected 5 months that my timeline says!!! I really want a wedding in March! Hope everyone is doing well! Hang in there....we will all get there eventually!

Kimberly

I went to the office supply store last week and bought a file holder that has sections and labels for the sections... I think it will help us to keep track of everything we will need throughout the journey, not just the K1 phase. It is quite extensive what Thuy will have to take to the interview...Some of the documents that we get during thise portion of the journey will be required much later so they need to be well organized. After my son was born I became a far more patient person.. he's 12 now and I think every day I become more patient... This Journey really tests that patience.... Thuy likes to countdown to things.. "how long till I see you again?" "How long till the interview?" "How long till the visa?" The see you again question I can control but besides that.. I have little or no impact...

Thanks... When it comes to the Medical... They will do what they have to do based on the requirements for your country, but if you can track down any documentation of the shots you have already.. that may save you some pain and time....
I find myself thinking about this whole process far too much some days... I have been through all of my paperwork a number of times and have found some errors in my initial submission... Its a good thing to look back over the forms a few times.. not more than a few times and not every day... But as a SO and not the USC, you MUST know everything that was submitted originally... They will ask questions based on what has been provided... If it was stated that you met a specific way on a given day.. that is it.. no changes .. no variations... in some consulates.. VN especially, they are looking for any reason to deny.... Some countries require a timeline of the relationship... It helps to have one anyway as a way to keep track of what happened when and then if asked.. you may remember more easily and more consistantly. RFE's for something like a picture or a translation are not really a big deal if we are ready for them.... it may cost us a few weeks... not bad in the whole scheme of things... When we started in June my timeline showed and expected NOA2 of late Sept. now I look and see early Dec... that really gets to me... I had hoped we would be blessed with a visa before Christmas, but now I may be lucky to see it happen by Valentines day... its amazing the difference between CSC and VSC... I wish there was a way to poke em with a stick to get them working... headbonk.gif

We knew the size requirements for the photos... its not always that simple to get a photographer that is thousands of miles that speaks a diffeent language, to create a picture to that exact specification.. ours are a little big as different countries have diffeent standards for "passport photos" sometimes its not an issue.. it depends on the person doing the evaluation...

I appreciate it. I am just hoping to not get an RFE. I am worried her passport photos were too big. Just in case, I am going to get some more of her taken when I visit her in Lima in September. I can also give her all my documents she will need for her interview (if it ever arrives).

I have the same fear.. I had her take some and they were sent here.. they should arrive tomorrow, but I am not sure if they are even the correct size.... If they are not, then I will be heading to walgreens to get new ones made from the oversize ones...

You should not have an issue about the addresses on the 325. take that info to interview. Every country is different as to what they want at the interview. There is a great resource for you n the local PI discussion since there are so many folks going through there regularly. I think the key is to create a checklist to keep everything organized and that way nothing is overlooked. Better to have a little more than a little less. Have him call the IRS to get the transcripts out of the way as it takes some time to get them and no sense putting it off... Its just a matter of a phone call... For some people they seem to overlook the fact that there are some docs that they want original as well as a copy taken to interview.. so be sure to have the originals when needed...

Shazaam!!! My timeline shows my date moving back every day it seems.... I have moved from an expectd date of mid Oct to Late Nov as of this AM... I must wonder if VSC is gonna meet the 5 month avg. goal they have by Oct. as was stated in the news. They need to get back on track! Not to say that thhere may be a lack of VJers updating timelines in a timely manner..

Are your dates moving back as well?

So what is everyone doing after their NOA1's has anyone prepared anything for the coming stages?

I have been nonstop preparing... The way I look at it, it is an uphill battle all the way to try to think ahead of whatever they may ask or ask for in the interview. I unfortunatly have to deal with the toughest consulate out there... I have most of packet 3 & 4 addressed already. We also practice a list of 200+ questions that she may be asked at the interview. Also getting notarized letters saying our ex's don't live with us...

Where can I find the packet 3 & 4 stuff so I can get I can get it addressed also. What is contained in packet 3 so my fiance can start getting stuff together for it?

Each consulate is different on that one... Check the local discussion for your consulate for an example that someone has posted... The one I have is specific to HCMC VN. here is a link that will help you ... http://www.visajourn...howtopic=202181

Wow.. look at the drop in monthly submissions to VSC on Igors list for the last two months. if there is a direct corelation to the actual number of submissions to VSC.. this is great news.. at one point there were over 200 on the list for one month, then just above 100 and now below 50....

One thing to note about these numbers is that they depend on folks entering the data in the timeline. If most do that early on, then your individual number should see steady movement. On the other hand, if a lot of members join late in the process (and enter the timeline info accordingly), it will seem as no movement is being made, despite seeing some getting approved.

As an example, our number on the Berkeley list was 213 on 6/11. On 6/25 (two weeks later), it was still 213. That is despite over 30 members reporting receipt of an NOA2. What happened was that the same number (over 30) entered the timeline during the same period. So the net result was that our number stayed the same.

In short, you can set yourself up for false hopes (and false disappointment) if you give the numbers too much weight. Hopefully most will get the information in early, but there will always be some who didn't find VJ until later in the process.

Best of luck to you and keep the faith! I'm still waiting, but the recent approvals are giving me hope (even though I'm still at 205 on that list today, despite 9 approvals just this week).

Some good news that someone 70 or so ahead of you on the list got NOA2 already without expedite

Wow! our June number of folks on Igors list jumped up in the past day or so... my guess we will end up with less than 60 for the month at VSC

I looked at the Igors list statistics that breaks it down to avg number processed per day and VSC averaged 3.3 per day over the past year.
http://cse.ssl.berke...data/stats.aspx
our NOA2's should be less than 4 months out with the drop in filers... that equates to fewer files between ours and the next step.

We sent ours off on June 2...and yes I think we all have a patience problem. Just wish they would cash our check. We really want to get married next spring so let's pray for rapid processing. Good luck to us all!!!

Hey everyone...

I sent my I-129F (actually the lawyer did) on May 28th. But I assume they at USCIS didn't receive it until June...

Also waiting... And also having patience problems... wacko.gif

Hoping to move in December... What do you, more experienced guys, think? Will I have time to have everything done by Dec?

Good luck to all of us!

December may happen, check out this link to K1 timelines for brazil... some faster some slower...

Hey ScottThuy,

Thanks for the link!!

Yeah, hope it happens in December - or earlier... Who knows?

Hope VSC goes a little faster and everything goes smoothly...
I can't wait!!

By the way, good luck for you both on your journey!!

Thanks,
I am actually pretty optimistic when it comes to the possibility that VSC processing times will drop in the coming months... If there is any relationship to the number of members timelines here to the actual number of submissions, then the amount of work to be done is dropping and they should get caught up soon.
