Now I'm really bummed, as I was expecting to see my sweetheart next month. Looks like the wait for AP is anywhere from a couple weeks to a couple months. And the worst part is that there seems to be no real way to find out how long it's going to take, so I'm just left waiting. *sigh* There is no way to know how long... just estimates... and there is no known way to push it along... National Visa Center (Dept of State)	STUCK @ NVC for AP	i had an RFE, do you think that could be why i got the AP? or the false AP? no telling exactly why... well unless one uses the freedom of information act to do an inquiry that takes a long time and most dont care once it is over... some have thought maybe having a govt security clearance triggered it, but other have clearances similar to mine and dint get AP, many have RFE's and dont get AP... for one reason or another, the file got flagged along te way and they had the team of FBI folks do what they do... mid last year they got on the ball and shortened the time in AP.. lets hope it is still a month or so... or less!!! National Visa Center (Dept of State)	STUCK @ NVC for AP	It could be a random investigation, an investigation based on an initial red flag found @ USCIS or a false AP....the false AP is when the operator looks and sees the file still there and equates that with AP.. in some cases the file is in AP only a couple of days.. not enough time for the Gov. to do any kind of check.. so not a real AP... And what time frame did this cover? O yea, and was this just for a few consulates, or was this global? look back through the July-Oct cases as that is when many of us got stuck here.. I didnt count them, just went through the timelines page by page... still a few of us to be interviewed and I was updated that there was 1 AP at the consulate stage to add to the single denial that I saw in looking back... I thought that the only things that could cause a denial were IMBRA related crimes (ie: murder, domestic violence, etc)... Are there other things that could cause a denial at the NVC level? Pardon me if this has been asked and answered before, but I've searched the threads and I can't come up with any other reasons for a denial at the NVC stage? I truly hope you get out of AP soon - I'm sure this is frustrating (I hope I don't end up in AP for some stupid reason). Al there is not any denial at the NVC stage when it comes to K visas that I am aware of.. it seems to be just preliminary investigation based on flags noted in the USCIS stage... aside from that there may be some random cases pulled... National Visa Center (Dept of State)	STUCK @ NVC for AP	We've been in AP since September 31, but only just figured out what the delay is. We're hoping it's random flagging, as we can't think of any reasons we would have been pulled up. Starting to look into Congressional help now... not that it sounds like it helps much! Any advice appreciated. A congressional rep or a senator can have a good impact on it.. when inquiries are made, the one with the file on the desk is likely to get the file off the desk ASAP... IMO you have been in AP far too long compared to the rest of us... NVC will not tell you much as the tier 1 CSR's only read a script... you can ask to get to a supervisor and that may provide better insight but it is rare to get any info out of NVC... A call to DoS may shed more light on what is happening... dont let it get to you as there is not much that can be done to move things along other than the political inquiries stated previously... My Congressional rep tried and came back only to say.. the FBI does what it does on its own schedule... Were you married before? this is something that caused many of us to end up in AP.. a recent divorce... some actually got a phone call from NVC asking for our ex's.... a couple days later we were out of AP.... I just did some digging and looked back at those that went through AP when I did... I only see 1 filer to date that has had a problem.... everyone that has interviewed aside from 1 has been granted the visa... and 1 person did not even have to interview... they just said hi you are approved, no need for interview... so AP may delay things but it may be a good thing... National Visa Center (Dept of State)	STUCK @ NVC for AP	Enigma, expect 30 days... no way around it if it is in AP... just start working on everything you will need for the interview over the next month that you are waiting... your case should be at the consulate by Thanksgiving. Mine got out of AP on Oct 22 or so they said... the consulate received the case on the 24th as per DoS today... the consulate has not responded to my email from Monday and DoS said there is no interview scheduled yet. She will bring the other documents with her to the interview. Maybe they do it differently in Vietnam? Dear Sir, Your inquiry has been received at the National Visa Center (NVC). The NVC has completed its processing of the visa petition you mentioned in your letter and has forwarded the petition to the assigned US Embassy/Consulate General for further processing. Any further inquiries should be directed to the assigned US Embassy or Consulate General. Yeah I know.. I am going to call DoS Monday morning and ask them the status as it will be Monday night VN time when I call and a full business day will have already transpired. I am tracking two dates of shipments and they will both be there at the consulate Mon AM when they start the week off. Ok yeah I am feeling a little high at the moment... I knew it would happen this week and sure enough when I called she said it left today... So our interview should be around Christmas... Billy, She asked me why you didnt answer the phone when she called you.... it was the same # that you got on caller ID and it still has the same message when you call it... The best estimate at this point if someone gets Actual AP is to expect a month and if less than that its great... nothing can be done to speed up the FBI check... nothing .. so dont let it get to you if you are in it.. treat it like a rip tide... just go with it and it will let you go before too long... fighting it just wears you out and does no good.... This is actually a common practice for those in AP at the consulate stage.. I was told to call back on Friday.. That will be the one month point... Keeping fingers crossed.... this could be light at the end of the NVC tunnel for that group of sept 22-24 that got stuck...
