US Embassy and Consulate Discussion221G Process question
Ours had a date to submit the required documents on it... was there any date on yours? you need to contact them ASAP, to let them know you have not abandoned the petition... they can send the case back with a denial based on failure to produce requested documents if it takes too long or they don't hear from you...

Moved to Consulte Discussion as the case is already at the consulate stage....

If I recall correctly, If your case has been sent for direct consular processing. You will be making all the payments directly at the embassy.

 where was DCF mentioned? All family immigration in VN takes place at the consulate, not the Embassy...

I was able to get a # a year ago and got to the department I wanted to talk to while I was in VN.. the problem is, they don't want to talk to you at all and will get really impolite if you were to use the same method.. They have a specific policy on communication now and AnhMap has provided you the resource you need...

QUOTE (lgg @ Jul 29 2009, 01:19 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Hi there, I have been reading and not finding this answer... my husband, the USC petitioner, was divorced and we sent his Divorce decree to the USCIS.
So, am I also supposed to send it again with DS230? I had thought that the DS230 was beneficiary based and since I haven't been divorced = no divorce decree sent.

I was told by some good folk on the CR1 site that I have to send his anyway, I'm looking for a Canadian who might have been in this same situation.

Thanks a lot. It's no big deal or anything, I have the certified copy and all, just want to know if it should be included.

Thanks a lot.
LGG

It can be a big deal when the court charges you for a certified copy! I know I had to pay $40 for a certified copy of my divorce from Arizona!

Wow! My 3 page decree certified in Fla was only 6 bucks delivered... and extra copies were $5 ea. so I got a few just in case... can't imagine 40

CanadaPlants

I'm bumping this as I am wondering about this, too ... I know there used to be a topic on here about it but my search function is not working on the boards right now so I can't even find it for you!

The plants have to go through quaranteen and there is a price associated with it. As stated it usually not worth the price and time... There is no guarantee that the plant will be alive when they call you to come get it... I have permission to import seeds from other countries and that is a smaller hurdle than live plants and I have to provide a great deal of documentation for everything coming into the country.

CanadaCongressmens help..

I didnt think of the DoS actually. The lady at the congressmens office said she should get back to us on monday or tuesday. Im going nuts waiting here!!! Lol. Usually I like easter, but MTL is closed today for the holiday..grumble grumble. Holidays irritate me now because it means no one is looking at our case!!!!

Hopefully we hear something soon. Its my hubby's birthday today, and he is all mopey because we arent there to celebrate with him. And skype just doesnt cut it sometimes.

Call the DoS and ask for the status of the case... The congressman can do the same at the consular level as well... the consulate should give them a resonse in a few days.. it may take a few more for the congressional liason to get back to you...

how did you know that? looking at the example of visajourney, I don't see that statement as correct. unsure.gif

From the porportion of representation here at VJ and the fact that VSC is a far larger site than CSC. The USCIS reports do not break down the data into service centers just as the entire # processed by all centers.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionI-751 Cover Page and Acco Prong Fasteners
QUOTE (John24689 @ Oct 3 2009, 01:22 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
This can be confusing. Here is another site on USCIS. It says to use ACCO fasteners.

http://www.uscis.gov...00045f3d6a1RCRD

I used ACCO fasteners on all our submissions.

Good luck on what you decide.

One must wonder if NVC and the consulates appreciate ACCO's as well. I just saw the note in that link about tabs at the bottom rather than the side... I may need to redo our info for the consulate with tabs on the bottom now... the catch is that some of the docs are longer than the rest and may need to be folded up at the end of the page to accomodate bottom tabs.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionUsing ACCO??
I have used numbered tabs on the side for everything I have submitted all along... I had an outline on top indicating what each tab was... It made it easy for me to organize everything as I assembled it.. and I assume it made it clear for them..

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionUsing ACCO??
We have used ACCO's at each stage so far and not just one for all... We attached pictures to paper or printed them to paper... putting an outline of the contents on the top of the ACCO group helps as well... You can also use a Large clip to hold everything together with the inner sections ACCO'd

It sounds like where you live it is treated like a driving infraction.. much like a seatbelt ticket... he's lucky.. in many areas it is a criminal offense.. a misdemeanor...

IMO he should note it since it went through the legal system and is on his record.... DHS and all of the others have it in thier system and if left out it could be an issue much bigger than having it there... its easier to explain what happened that trying to explain why it was not noted..

I've seen some people indicate that they've done early biometrics. Can you really just walk in weeks before your scheduled appointment? The staff doesn't get annoyed?

Are people doing this for convenience, or because you are thinking it will speed up your application?

I agree with this one! Its what I got and there was a sale the day I bought them... a 3 fer deal I think.... Another thing is to think about things that are not common there.... The vitamins is a good example...things you may take for granted... My fiance has a bad habit of eating out in restaurants that dont have the best hygene and ends up with food poisoning too often... Immodium isn't avaialbe in many places and is like a blessing when needed... not to take as a "gift" but a great idea to take depending on the area... If incase you have 5 hrs layover before your next trip, don't worry about it. Time goes fast actually. I had 4 hrs waiting at Newark Airport but with all the walking from the time i arrived there and going to the next waiting lounge, 4 hrs was just enough for me. Was able to rest and refresh, call my fiance and ate.

anyone here fly by eva air? we are contemplating between eva air and hawaiian airlines to sac,ca..... the former is really cheap at 431usd(inclusive of tax) one way on sept but are there any issues at taipei stop-over? if ever i will have 5 hrs of waiting to leave again to sac. Will i be able to go out the airport for window shopping perhaps just to burn my time? ive been to taiwan (taipei)before but on work visa so i dont know if we needed visa to be able to get out of the airport while waiting on board again.

or other airline suggestions are welcome. star_smile.gif

PhilippinesJust called the USCIS regarding March filers...
QUOTE (rockhouse @ Jul 13 2009, 01:10 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
The service rep told me that they were indeed working on the cases filed late November. I then asked her, "does that mean that we have 3 to 4 months worth of cases ahead of ours until they get to the March filers?"
She said, "yes"
I said, "it's already been 4 1/2 months since our case was filed. How is it possible that with 3 to 4 months worth of cases ahead of ours, that we will receive the NOA2 within the 6 month time frame?"
She said, "the last known case to be adjudicated was dated November 25, 2009. We ask that you wait the 6 month allotted time and if no changes have been made to your case, call back and inquire further."

This is really frustrating and disheartening.

Unfortunatly you talked to someone that didnt have a clue other than the USCIC proccessing data that we have access to by clicking the proccessing times link above. They pull up the page that says NOV 25 and they take liberties with that data... They dont know anything other that what they see on the USCIS site... its a darn shame... That Nov 25 date should adjust this week by the way so if you were to call and get that same person at the end of the week.. the story would change... You are not the first person here to get misinformed by the reps at USCIS.
