K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresmedical in Frankfurt -Eye Vision test?

Yes, you have to get your vaccinations up to date at your local physician beforehand. If you don't, I have heard that the Frankfurt physician will tell you to go back to your local physician and get the missing shots, and that they won't send the medical results to the Frankfurt consulate until you have faxed them the confirmation from your local doctor about you getting the missing shots. Luckily, I had all vaccinations needed. I only got myself a titertest for varicella.

Here is the sheet I used: http://germany.usemb...munizations.pdf

The table on that PDF is the same one from the official CDC site that I linked to. Should help the OP Posted Image

Ok, the office also just told me that they dont do the vaccination there and i should have that done at my local physican!? Since the Vaccination requirements vary from every site i found, does anyone have a reliable source for whats really needed?

You can find it at the official CDC site: http://www.cdc.gov/i...vaccination.pdf (page 12 of the PDF with the table).

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresmedical in Frankfurt -Eye Vision test?

Hi,

I have a question about the Medical Examination in Frankfurt for the K1 visa. During the Medical, I have to do a vision test and thats what my question is all about!

I wear Glasses but am in the need for new ones soon because my Vision has slightly decreased over the last 2 Years, now my concern is, is the vision test a "pass or fail" or is it just to determine your vision strenght?
I obviously cant get new Glasses within the next 14 Days, so does anyone know if its okay to just say that I will get new ones once im in the States or so? or am im overthinking it and ill just be fine if i cant read all the Letters or whatever it is on the visiontest?

Thank you very much!

At my medical, I had a vision exam, but they must not put a lot of emphasis on it as when I had to take my glasses off, I could barely read the second line. And even with my glasses on, I couldn't see much further down (I needed new glasses at that point as well). So, you're definitely over-thinking it!

I did suscribe to loomis but how to get that confirmation letter the consulate needs ?
My interview is next monday and i just found out i need that document !
Thanks

You don't get a letter or anything. You just need to sign into the CSC page and print the applicant summary page that shows the DHL/Loomis location you chose, along with your reference number.

My canadian doctor gave me a prescription for birth control shots good for 2 years and I intend to bring the medication at POE. Would that be a problem ? If so, what should I do ?

POE next monday and would really appreciate your help before I go :)

Shouldn't be a problem at all. I brought like 7 months worth of birth control pills with me when I moved. I didn't mention it and they didn't ask about it.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresD-230- stupid worry

in the D230, just bellow employment history, they ask what work occupation I would intend to have in the united states.

I answered marketing and sales, which is what I studied, and I totally intend to work once I get a job authorization, so my fiancé won't have all the pressure of being the only one making money for the 2 of us.

Will this be a problem? ... I don't want them to think I am marrying my fiancé to be able to work in the US... I want to work, in sales and marketing, and the US happens to be the place where my fiancé and I want to establish. And since they asked, I truthfully answered... But now I am a bit worried...

No need to worry at all! They kind of expect you to work. As long as you didn't put "drug dealer" or something like that, you won't have any problems Posted Image

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresDS 230 question

Wow.. thanks!

I live on a border town and cross several times a year for vacation, or sometimes just as simple as to fill up on gas. There is no way I could ever remember or put down every time I crossed into the USA it would be pages and pages long! What do you suggest I do? The last couple years and then do an explanation?

thanks- and much thanks for all your guides and resources you have created! You have helped me and my fiancee understand this process hugely!

I would suggest listing the last 5-10 visits (as long as you know the dates), then include a paragraph similar to mine (as long as it's the same situation: you were inspected every time you entered). They know that as Canadians most of us visit A LOT and it's pretty much impossible to know the details of every visit.

As the Canadian beneficiary, how do I fill the is question out on the DS 230?

35. List dates of all previous visits to or residence in the United States. (If never, write "never") Give type of visa status, if known.
Give DHS "A" number if any

Do I just put none since there is no I-94 number? Or do I list when I have just traveled across on my passport?

thanks!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresNo vaccination records

I will soon be receiving packet 3 from the US embassy here in Auckland. There's one thing which is bugging me now. I am originally from India but have been living in New Zealand for the last 3 years. I have no official record of any vaccinations administered to me in India. I know that I was given a polio vaccination ( no record to prove this though) when I was a kid but I have got no information on any other vaccinations.

Now, I have read somewhere that I need to carry a record of vaccinations administered to me-- to the panel physician for my medical test. I have no vaccination record at all. Should I first get all these shots administered to me by my GP or simply turn up at the medicals and tell the panel physician that I have no record of vaccinations?

I am not quite sure if I want to get the shots at my GP because I have read here somewhere that not all vaccinations are needed and some are age specific. But some others have suggested that it is cheaper to get these shots done at the GP than directly at the medicals with the panel physician. What should I do now?

Any inputs greatly appreciated.

Cheers.

You have two options:

1. Get a titer test (blood test) to show what antibodies you have present in your system. This is enough to show that you got the vaccine(s) in the past. If you're still missing vaccines, get the remaining ones before the medical as it'll likely be cheaper than getting them done at a panel physician.

2. Get all the age-appropriate shots done (again). Then bring that documentation to the medical.

To figure out what vaccines you need, follow this link: http://www.panelphys...munizations.htm and click on your age from the list. Then read the vaccines, it'll tell you which ones you need, depending on your age. [Note: although the link is to a Canadian panel physician, it still applies as everyone is immigrating to the US, so the same vaccines apply everywhere].

Staples.

Not a big deal. They'll just have to spend a few more seconds on your case removing the staples.

What did you use?

You're not going to get a RFE for using staples or something! There's no mandatory way of putting together a package! What's important is sending all the forms and documents needed.
SaylinFemaleCanada2013-04-20 07:52:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresstaples or paperclips?

Neither!

http://www.uscis.gov...00045f3d6a1RCRD

"Use ACCO fasteners to hold together thick or bulky applications or petitions. Two-hole punching the top of the material for easy placement in the file is appreciated."

This is what i used http://www.amazon.co...2+hole+fastener

Re-read what I bolded. Paperclips are fine for sets of items and/or if the package is on the thinner side. But yes, if it's think, paper clips probably won't be able to hold it together, so ACCO fasteners or those binder clips would work.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresstaples or paperclips?

i know im being soo crazy with every little detail even my fiance tells me it but i need to do everything as perfect as possible. lol.

my question is should i use staples to separate my pages or should i group relevent items with easy to remove paper clips?

and a question about how to attach your pictures to show proof. should i do like my passport picture and put it in a ziplock bag and then attach it to a blank page or what id the norm for sending pictures?

thanks in advance :)

Paper clips, paper clips, paper clips! I never suggest using staples. Paper clips are the easiest thing to remove; staples not so much.

As for pictures (whatever the size), I always suggest putting them in a Ziploc bag, then stapling the bag to a blank page. Include the page with photos somewhere in the package.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHow do I carry my thick application to the interview?

Thanks for this thread! I have wondered what to do myself smile.png

Did you have your new forms, and evidence, etc in the accordian file, and the original I-129F submission seperate from that, or was it all just in the one folder?

Well, first off, I was an IR-1/CR-1 applicant :P But everything was in my accordion folder. The only thing that I had out was my passport and interview letter to get into the consulate as I knew I'd have to have that handy. Looking back though, I would have had two folders, one of just what I knew would be required, so it'd be smaller. Then have all the optional stuff that probably wouldn't have been asked for in another, bigger folder.

I put all my paperwork in an accordion folder, then that inside something similar to a reusable grocery bag. You can see pictures of it here on my blog: http://journeythroug...w-tomorrow.html I had absolutely no issues at security.

It does auto-fill. You need to actually put something in questions 1,2,3 first.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresDS-260 Question

The question is, "do you have documentation to establish that you have received vaccinations in accordance with US law?"

My fiancee has received vaccinations, but I don't know that she has proof and frankly I don't even know what vaccinations are required by US law. If I answer yes, I get a popup box asking for an explanation. If I answer no, what happens? Will she need to get vaccinated or will that cause a problem?

Before even attempting to answer the question, you first have to figure out if she even has documentation of her vaccines. And the vaccines required (for US immigration) can be found here: http://www.cdc.gov/i...vaccination.pdf (table on page 16).

If she does have documentation, then this is what I put in response to that question: "I have had a vaccination record since I was born with all the required vaccinations clearly recorded by a health professional." You can use this as well, as long as everything is true about the beneficiary's vaccination record.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresModel/actress name change?

Hey everyone, I need help ASAP, I am wanting to tie the bow on the i129f and mail it off before the post office closes today here in a couple hours. My fiancée is a Brazilian and she is a model/actress, and uses a "stage name" which most people think is her actual name because she doesn't like her legal name very much. Her Facebook account and all of her letters she signs as Wilmara Valentin when her real name is Wilmara Coelho de Melo. I have used the latter on all of the official forms, but there are several of our proofs of relationship that have her name as Wilmara Valentin. My question is if this will cause any problems, if I should put Wilmara Valentin on the forms as an alternate name, or just include a sheet with an explanation?

Please respond ASAP, my deadline is here in 2 hours!!

Dave

I'd suggest using her real, legal name on all forms. Then just put 'Valentin' under alternate names used. You can include a small paragraph on the cover letter explaining it, if you wish.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresInvoice ID number for DS-260

I appreciate the wealth of information this website has provided throughout my visa journey. Thank you!

I need help. I have been trying for two weeks to obtain the Invoice ID number so that my fiance can fill out the DS-260. I made an MRV fee payment over the phone and I copied down the reciept number they gave me (when I tried to hear it again to confirm the number, the call got cut off), but the number I copied down doesn't work with the case number when we try to sign in to fill out the DS-260. Am I correct that the receipt number they give you when you make the payment is the Invoice ID number?

I called the embassay and they told me send an email to contactus_en_MX@usvisa-info.com, which I did and they promptly replied asking me to provide information re: last digits of credit card, date payment was made, etc., which I did. After that, I never heard anything back. I waited a week and wrote again and this time they wrote back telling me that they in fact couldn't help me with this and that I need to contact the Department of State by which I believe they mean the NVC.

This wouldn't be so bad except I saw that our NOA2 has an expiration date of 09/19/2011.

I did write an email to the NVC inquiry address, but has anyone had any experience with this? I just need that number. My bank statement reflects that the payment was made. I am sick to my stomach because I am terrified we won't get this all resolved before our expiration date. I don't know what to do.

I'm not sure if it's the same for the K-1 visa, but for IR-1/CR-1 cases who fill out the DS-261/DS-260, the numbers you need are your case number and the BENEFICIARY ID number. The invoice ID number (for IR-1/CR-1 applicants anyways) are used to log into a payment portal to pay the AOS and IV bills. The beneficiary number (if not received by calling a NVC operator) also is available in the first email that NVC sends out. It includes the case number, Invoice ID number, and the Beneficiary ID number. As a K-1 applicant, did you get such an email from NVC? If so, it should be included there. If not, try calling a NVC operator and asking.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresApplying for the Fiancee Visa while on ESTA but staying in Home Country

The rule on ESTA/VWP is to stop people changing visa category in the USA, there are some very limited exceptions but they don't apply here.

Filing while he still lives in the UK is the way to go, it is a slow process. The good news is he can visit on the VWP/ESTA while the process is ongoing, but make sure he has proof of ties to the UK otherwise he may be denied entry as an intending immigrant.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresK1 visa criminal issues

Actually not, at least here in the US.

They said they were detained in the UK.

In the UK you can either be arrested and taken to station where you would be detained to be interviewed or interviewed under caution where you would be free to leave at any time.

Also to receive a police caution (helpfully different to the caution mentioned above, like a warning or reprimand) guilt would have to be admitted to the police but it would not have gone any further.

Admittedly I didn't think minor got cautions. OP if you had a solicitor at that police interview they should still have the file in storage and can clarify.

A TN visa is a non-immigrant visa. How long have you been in the USA for?

I don't know the definite answer, but I know with most non-immigrant visas intent at the time of entry plays a big part in adjusting status. Leaving and then re-entering with the intent to get married seems like it could cause problems.

Hehe, thank you! I had fun :D

NEGATIVE....

According to the dude (man) at the IRS office yesterday.... you do NOT have to claim your [out of country] spouses income on your return if you are filing jointly (with ITIN). The reason being.... they didn't pay any money(ies) to the US Government (IRS). The exact example that I gave him was....

"My wife is in Brazil, we are currently going through the immigration process. She has not lived here or earned any money here (in the US). Can we file "Married/Jointly"? He said .... YES....
Next question... Do I need to include my wife's (foreign) income on our tax return? He said.... NO, she did not pay taxes to the US Government... so, NO... you do not include her income.

Makes sense to me.... but.... if you have different info... please let me know before I go through this lengthy pain in the butt process of ITIN...

Erick

That's weird, cause I asked the same question to an IRS agent last week and she told me that my husband would have to report my foreign income. Oh no, the IRS is starting to resemble NVC operators who give out conflicting information Posted Image

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresCalifornia Service Center To Texas Service Center

I want to include my spouse and file married as filing jointly to take the $3K deduction but do we need to add our spouses income? I wonder how that works cause she will be paying income tax in Canada so she has to pay here as well? That would be bad if its true. I learned that form W7 is needed since she doesn't have a social security number. Although yes it is true we don't need to show 2010 papers in AOS if we send it before April 15 but I still want to send a copy of 2010 with my AOS. Anyone know anything about showing or not showing spouses income?

If you do 'married filing jointly', this means you are married and you want to send a joint tax return, meaning that yes, you would have to put your spouse's income since you're filing together. And yes, your spouse would still have to do their tax returns in Canada. You're right, W7 is needed, it's to file for an ITIN, which can be used in replacement of an SSN since your spouse doesn't have one. Remember though, filing for an ITIN during tax season means you won't get your refund for 8-10 weeks.

You could also consider doing 'married filing separately'. You won't need to report your spouse's income and you won't need to file for an ITIN, you just write 'NR' or 'NRA' in the SSN field.
