Where can i find this form? I found a DS3032 form which had an expiration date of 3/31/13/

Only those in countries eligible to do online forms can do these. Unfortunately, India is NOT one of those eligible countries. You can only file the non-online forms. So, you have no choice but to do the DS-3032 (and DS-230).

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresSSN & Green Card after landing in US?

Mind you, I'm nowhere NEAR close to this stage of the process, but my husband and I talked about this. Isn't it possible to apply online or in a local office with the I-1551 stamp for immigration status and receive a card within 2 weeks?

Yes, that's what I had to do as my SSN card never arrived. After applying in person at my local office in town, I received my card in the mail 10 days later.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresSSN & Green Card after landing in US?

Not sure if this is the right forum to ask this question but I landed in US on April 4th.. its 3 weeks and no sign of SSN card or Green Card/Immigrant Card?

Any idea what to do or where to follow up?

Don't worry about the green card. That could take a few months, but since you have the stamp in your passport, you have a temporary green card.

For the SSN, if you ticked off for one to be given to you on the DS-230 and it's been more than 3 weeks, then go to your local SSA office and apply in person. This is exactly what I had to do as my SSN never arrived either.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresNVC

Hello I completed my AOS and my IV visa packet and turned it ALL in to NVC  I wanted to ask Jamaican VJ who have been through this process how long before the packet is sent to Kingston for the interview? and or what will be the next step for us? I am just trying to get a feel for how much longer :D Thanks in advance for your responses.

Before the package can be sent abroad, the case has to be closed first. It takes 1-2 weeks for packages to be reviewed. If both are accepted, then case complete. Once that's done, then the case is put into queue for an interview date to be assigned. This varies by embassy/consulate, so you'll need to do your own research on this. Start here: http://www.visajourn...a&dfile=No&adv= Once an interview date is assigned, then the case is sent abroad, typically the next day, although can take longer at times. Once you have an interview date, you can set up your medical appointment and attend it. Then gather all required/optional documents for the interview. You may also have to sign up for courier service, but this differs by country, so you'll need to research this.

Hi saylin,

Can you please try to help me on what exactly need to put on that request and to whom we should address it to? Im in the same situation as rickjames and hoping we can submit our IV packet despite not having the police certificate yet coz it will take us a while to get one. Thanks and hope you can help us further

Just write up a simple letter, doesn't have to be long, just a paragraph or two. Explain that you're waiting for the police certificate, how long it will take. Then request that your case be closed upon review and that you'll bring the police report with you to the interview. Simple as that.

Keep in mind, this isn't guaranteed for the request to be accepted. But it's worth a shot!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresSending an incomplete DS230?

Hello,

My AOS was approved last month, and we have everything ready for the DS230 Application to send, except 1 piece of paper (police report).

I just found out it will be one more month before it arrives.

Is it better to send the DS230 without it and let them begin processing, or would it be better to wait and mail it all together?

Thanks,
-Rick

You can send the IV application now with a request that your case be closed, despite the missing police report, and that you'll bring the original police report to the interview as it'll be another month until you receive it. I've seen this work in the past Posted Image

I thought NVC forward all the documents to embassy and embassy will return all your original documents. So NVC won't give our documents back!!???

Yes, NVC forwards all documents to the embassy. After a successful interview, the birth and marriage certificates are returned to you. If divorce and/or military ones were submitted, they'll be returned as well.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresOriginal Documents for NVC for CR 1 visa

Hello All,

I am being told by the lawyer that we would need to submit original documents to the NVC.. I -130 was approved with copies of the documents. There is only one original each of Birth Certificate, Marriage Certificate and Police Clearance. I am not comfortable giving the NVC our only originals. Besides my spouse would need those for the interview. This requirement doesn't sound consistent with the rest of the process.

Any advice?

Thanks

KoolBreez

Your lawyer is right.

USCIS = copies
NVC = originals/certified copies
Interview = nothing needed, but copies are suggested

If possible, send certified copies to NVC, that way you can keep your originals in a safe place.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Proceduresds-230, NVC questions

so i sent in the i-1864 package but still had to wait to be billed for the ds-230. after i was billed i sent in the ds-230 application with the barcoded cover sheet. but about a day later (after it was sent but before they got it, still in mail) i got an email form NVC requesting the ds-230 and saying that i had to put that cover sheet on it. but it was already sent with the coversheet i printed after paying the bill. do you think i need to do anything with this new cover sheet? or it is just a fluke do to the length stuff was in the mail? also when those packages are approved is it correct that NVC then sends an email with the interview date, or send it snail mail? it usually is a wait around a month? i think that is what i see on most timelines. am hoping it's realistic to have the visa by mid june.

The email you received is called a false checklist, issued when the other package is reviewed (and accepted). So, call up NVC asap to confirm your AOS package was accepted!

There's nothing you need to do for the IV package. It should be reviewed shortly.

Yes, after the two packages are accepted, then NVC closes your case. It's then put into queue for an interview date to be scheduled. How you get the interview letter is up to you. If you gave over both email addresses to an operator when the case number was assigned, you'll get it by email. If not, then it'll arrive by snail mail, which might take awhile. Since you mentioned you get the checklist by email, I'm assuming you gave over both email addresses, so you should get the interview letter by email.

Hello, I am becoming slightly worried as I posted my DS-230 on 31/07/2012 and have not heard anything since. From your experience is this 'normal' or could something have gone wrong. If so, what should my next steps be?

I can confirm that my DS-230 was sent recorded delivery and was signed for upon arrival.

Thanks for your time.

Um, wow Posted Image Have you not called NVC at all during this time? The AOS and IV packages only take about 1-2 weeks to be reviewed.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresTax Transcript or 1040 EZ or Both.

Hello Everyone,

At the NVC stage, do we need to submit the IRS transcript for the previous tax returns or 1040 EZ (I always file my taxes on my own so i have 1040 EZ dating back to 2002) or both.
Also, I recently filed my 2012 tax returns, IRS received it but is still under processing so at the NVC stage and if my taxes for 2012 aren't completed by IRS how should i go about submitting the transcript; i would still have the 1040 EZ for the same tax return.

Thanks,

For NVC (and most embassies), the tax transcript is much preferred over the tax returns. Remember, if you don't submit tax transcripts, then you need to include the ENTIRE tax return, not just the 1040. You also need the W2s, 1099s, schedules, worksheets, etc. Everything that was sent to the IRS needs to be sent to NVC. This can end up being 20+ pages long, which is why the tax transcript is preferred as those are typically 2-4 pages long. Plus, it's proof that you actually filed the taxes. Copies of tax returns don't really prove anything except that you filled the form out.

So, I'd suggest getting the last 3 years of tax transcripts requested from the IRS site. They're completely free and typically arrive within a week or two.

If you can send the AOS package before April 15th (this year's tax deadline), then 2012 tax information won't be needed at NVC. This will give you time to get the 2012 tax transcript before the interview, which will be after the tax deadline.

Hey y'all!

My wife are in the process of filling out the DS-230 and gathering all the cevil documents. While filling out the DS-230 we stomp on a few things, which we have not been able to find answers to.

- Do we send the DS-230 back to the NVC with the cevil documents together? and is it possible to send it all via e-mail?
- questions 19-28 regarding fathers and mothers information, is that the petitioner or applicants parents info they want on there?

Then regarding the affidavit of support, my wife says that it states that the form should be filled out based on an exemption, how do you go about filling out the affidavit of support (I-864W) correctly?

I know that a lot of these question can be found if you sourch very thoroughly but we have not been able to find the answers we are looking for.

we really appreciate the help y'all! have a blessed day!

You send the DS-3032 and documents together (it's called the IV package). It is possible to send by email, but you need to be from an eligible country and Denmark is not. So, you have no choice but to snail mail it.

Those questions are referring to the beneficiary's parents.

Not sure what you mean about the AOS question though...

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresMailing Address and Format for Mailing Hardcopy AOS and IV

Hello everyone,

Since my hubby's country is India, I understand I am not qualified to scan in the AOS and email it in.

But I am having hard time finding where to mail the AOS and IV.

And also, what format would the NVC want the AOS (and later the IV)

Do they want all pages stapled? Or paperclipped? Or to punch two holes on top of each page, and slide it into Pendaflex folder (which is how I submitted I-130).

Thanks!

The mailing address for each package is on their respective bar-coded cover sheet from the payment portal, which has to be the first page in the package.

I always suggest to use paperclips in this process. They're going to tear apart your package once they receive it, so make it easier on the officers and don't use staples. Paperclips are the fastest thing to remove.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresNVC Electronic Processing

ok, Thank you we are getting organize now. Do these Russian Civil documents need to be accompanied with certified translation? do you think we should adhere an apostille stamp on them. Travel State doesnt seem to be to picky, read below. The Apostille stamps are kind of expensive ($50) not like her in the US ($3). Luckily when I was over there we did get one adhere to our marriage certificate. But I'm wondering if we should get one on her birh certificate and death certificate of ex.

"Documents which have been certified by ZAGS or a local notary office can be affixed with an apostille by the Ministry of Justice or other selected offices empowered to do so. The apostille is accepted in all countries that are parties to the Hague Convention on the Abolition of Legalization of Documents. Documents that bear an apostille need not be authenticated by an American consular officer for use in the United States."
http://travel.state....5.html?cid=8941

On NVC's site (http://travel.state..../info_3195.html), they have a little paragraph on translations:

All documents not written in English, or in the official language of the country in which application for a visa is being made, must be accompanied by certified translations and submitted to the NVC. The translation must include a statement signed by the translator stating that the:

  • Translation is accurate, and
  • Translator is competent to translate.

So, as long as the documents are in Russian, then you should be fine without translations. Despite this though, I've seen people get RFEs for not sending in translations, even though the documents are in the official language of where they were going to interview. So, it's up to you if you want to send translations or not.

ok, I'm a little clear now, thanks!

regarding the AOS package, or any other package that requires the beneficary's documents. does my wife have to mail the following documents to me or does she bring them to her interview at the Moscow consulate/embassy?
Marriage Certicate (cerified with appostille stamp)
Police reports (certified)
Copy of Beneficuary's passport biographic data page
Beneficary's Birth Certificate (certified)

Reason why I ask is because snail mail takes 30 days to get here from Russia after passing customs check in NY and I would like to get a jump start on this if my wife needs to mail me anything. I just feel like I should be doing something ahead of time, sepcially since NVC has been backlooged lately. Thank you for your help!

Get her to mail everything to you ASAP if it takes that long. The things you need from your wife are for the IV package and are the things you listed above, plus the DS-230 completed and signed (only sign part 1). This package is then mailed to NVC only after the IV bill appears as PAID.

so, we can't do the Electronic processing, ok I understand that.
1)but my wife can still send the DS-3032 choose of Agent via emai to NVC? correct?

Yes, all countries are eligible to send the DS-3032 by email. It's just the AOS and IV packages not all countries are eligible to email.

2) since we can't do Electronic Processing is there any benefits on knowing my Invoice ID#

Yes, this is needed to sign into the payment portal. You can get this either from an operator (fastest way) or from the initial information package NVC sends.

3) do I need to ask for a beneficiary ID# too?

Nope. Don't bother. The beneficiary ID number is needed for online forms, and again, Russia isn't eligible for those either.

4) does this also mean I can't pay bills online?

Nope. Everyone can pay their bills online. Just use your case number and IIN and sign onto the payment portal. The AOS bill will be invoiced first. Once the DS-3032 has been accepted, then the IV bill will be invoiced and available to be paid.

This is so redundant, they ask for the exact same thing that UCIS asked.

Yes we have logged in and that is what is confusing us (just tried again with IE). It says that the next step is to pay, but the payment like has a padlock icon and the link is disabled. It says if we are unable to pay online we should follow the alternate payment instructions, but those alternate instructions mention needing the form that was sent to us and we did not get any form yet. Maybe when we waived the agent 3 weeks ago the forms were sent and we have not yet received?

Just to confirm a few things:

-You did give over BOTH email addresses to NVC when the case number was assigned?
-You went through the entire DS-261 form and submitted it at the end and you have the confirmation page to prove this?
-You're signing into the payment portal and not the online forms portal?

Have you been calling NVC everyday since last month to find out the status of your DS-261?

About a month after our NOA2 (March 4th) we were contacted by the NCV and directed to register to receive communication by email. On March 21 we paid the AOS fee and filed the DS-261 (DS-3032 online alternative). Since then we have returned the AOS package electronically.

We are getting anxious and would like to pay the Immigration Visa Application fee and get started on the Application forms. It has been 3 weeks since we completed our DS-261 and still no correspondence on how to proceed with the payment or the paperwork. We elected for email correspondence. Why and how should we be expecting next steps information for the Immigration Visa Application?

Matt,

Have you actually tried logging onto the payment portal to see if the IV bill was invoiced? Don't wait for correspondence to tell you to log on.

And make sure you're always using IE to log on to pay bills. I've frequently seen people not see any bills while on other browsers, but as soon as they use IE, bam! Bills are there!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresDS 230

I'm just having a look at the DS 230 and everything seems straight forward, except for item 35 asking for dates of all US visits. Do they really want every single visit??? I live in Vancouver and cross the border for simple things like picking up packages or getting gas. Or do they just want visits where we flew and passports were stamped? If not, my list will be about a page long.

Like NikiR said, for Canadians, you're required to fill out the online forms which includes the DS-260 (online DS-230 essentially). And the question on previous visits only asks for the last 5.

Friends,

I just heard from NVC that they received DS-3032. Next step is that they will be generating IV bill (about a week).
My wife is in India. Is it possible for her to get all the documents required by NVC for DS-230 ready and send it to me.
This will save me some time and i don't have to wait for the IV bill to generated. I can do that as an independent track.
Once i have all the documents from her, i will print the bar coded cover sheet and send the entire package to NVC.

By the way, can I email that I am his agent, using his email? He doesn't have a comp., and will be so confused if I explain it. So, I made him an email. Would there be any way to know I was the one sending the email though?

Yup, a lot of petitioners email the DS-3032 on behalf of the beneficiary. You did give both of the email addresses to an operator, right? I wouldn't suggest sending the DS-3032 until they have both email addresses on file.

Yes, they can know it was the petitioner by tracking the IP address (which would show a US-based IP, instead of one in Costa Rica. But I highly doubt they check the IP addresses of incoming mail.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresNVC Step

Hey guys,

I've been reading links and topics about what to do at the NVC stage.

I am trying to do this as quickly as possible. But I have a couple questions..

1. To obtain the police record, in my husband's country, it states it wants an official request.  Therefore, he can't do anything, until I send him a copy of the requested police certificate to show them?

3. Does emailing the NVC about me being my spouse's agent still really work, or is mailing it better?? (I only ask b/c those posts were a few years back..)

4. Will the NVC require proof of relationship / marriage too, like the USCIS??

I am going to call the NVC to see if they received my case yet and will continue to call..

Any other tips to do RIGHT NOW? Since I just got approved yesterday?

Thank you!!!!!

1. If his country requires an official request, you'll have to send the IV package without the PCC. You'll then receive a checklist, requesting the PCC. He can then use that to obtain it.

2. Yes, emailing the DS-3032 still works (and is recommended as it's faster/cheaper).

3. No, proof of marriage isn't required, although some people in harder countries send additional evidence with the IV package.

I suggest you check out this link as it's full of guides and a FAQ about the NVC process: http://www.visajourn...ilers-may-2013/

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresDS-3032 questions

I'm finding some conflicting information on the requirements for the 3032 form. Some things say the form must be printed out and physically signed.

But the pdf form I found online requires an electronic signature before it can be saved or printed. And the main DS-3032 page says there is an email option that includes all the information of the form, but doesn't actually use the form. And it does not require a physical signature.

When I get my NVC number I plan to opt in for electronic processing so ...

Can I just use the PDF with the electronic signature and e-mail it as an attachment once I'm signed up for EP? That would seem the simplest, as if anything is simple in this process.

Should I print out the e-signed pdf and have my wife physically sign it and scan it back in? What works best?

Thanks,

Jon

If you're planning on doing EP, then I suggest you read this amazing wiki by Darnell: http://www.visajourn...onic_Processing It answers your question about the DS-3032.

Anyone have an answer to my dumb question?  I'm doing CR1, and my case is currently completed.  The NVC tells me the process is, after your case is marked completed, the NVC will schedule your interview appointment first.  Then send your paperwork to the embassy.  Is this the correct order of events?

If this is correct, I'm not sure what the purpose of tracking when the NVC has shipped their packet to the consulate is.  Are some people finding they have a scheduled appt, and the paperwork didn't arrive at the consulate yet?  Or are people getting their interview date AFTER they somehow find out their paperwork was mailed?

If the NVC is blowing smoke up my butt, and correct sequence is mail first, then interview date, how can I get them to tell me when the package is sent to the consulate?

This is in reference to threads like this one --> http://www.visajourn...013-interviews/

The operator was correct. After a case complete, the case is put into queue for an interview date to be scheduled. Typically the day after an interview date is assigned, the case is then shipped to the embassy/consulate.

The purpose of tracking your case is to make sure it arrives at the embassy/consulate safely and on time.

Like Tygrys said, please don't hijack other people's threads, especially when your question has absolutely nothing to do with the topic.

After an approved I-130 is sent to NVC, there's an entire fee collection and document intake. I highly suggest you click on the last 2 links in my signature and do some major reading.

Remember, NVC does not approve your visa. The visa is only approved (or denied) at the embassy, which is still a few months out for you.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresASC? A bit confused????

So I received the letter from NVC giving my wife an interview date of 6/17/2013 in ciudad Juarez.  I know she's required to do her medical stuff in Ciudad Juarez and before that she needs her biometrics done via the ASC.  I am confused because the Juarez Consulate requires her to go to http://mexico.usvisa-info.com/ and it says to log in and follow the instructions.  So she logged in (Created and account, entered her DOB, Passport no, etc.  So the account was created then she clicked on SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT then clicked IMMIGRANT VISA then there are several options to select from.  That is where I am confused.  There is the following:

+ FAMILY SPONSORED

If the applicant:

Is starting the process and would like to read information about this visa category, please select "Immigrant Starting the Process- Family-sponsored".

Received an appointment from the NVC, please select "Immigrant Schedule by NVC ? Family-sponsored".

Has been asked to schedule an appointment by the Consular Section, please select "Immigrant Consulate Has Asked You to Schedule - Family-sponsored".

  • Immigrant Starting the Process - Family-sponsored
  • Immigrant Scheduled by NVC - Family - sponsored
  • Immigrant Consulate Has Asked You to Schedule - Family-sponsored

+ EMPLOYMENT BASED

+ NONIMMIGRANT VISA FOR FIANCE OF US CITIZEN (K-1, K-2)

+ NONIMMIGRANT VISA FOR SPOUSE OR US CITIZEN (K-3, K-4)

+ DIVERSTIY LOTTERY

+ IV ADMINISTRATIVE PROCESSING

Please select the category based on what is required of the applicant.

  • Immigrant Courier in Documents - IV Admin Processing
  • Immigrant Follow up Appointment - Immediate Family Sponsored
  • Immigrant Follow up Appointment - All Other Immigrant Visas

+ IMMEDIATE FAMILY -SPONSORED

  • Immigrant Starting the Process - Immediate Family-sponsored
  • Immigrant Scheduled by NVC - Immediate Family-sponsored
  • Immigrant Consulate Has Asked You to Scheduled - Immediate Family-sponsored

I am not sure which one to select.  I highlighted the one I thought it would be but which one do I need to select and then which one from the sub menu??

Thanks for the help in advance...

There should be an option to sign up for just courier services. She shouldn't be selecting 'schedule an appointment' as she's already got the interview date scheduled by NVC.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresNVC is confusing me! plz help?!?

I calked and was told that they could not find the MC but that they had accepted the DS-230

Did they say they accepted the DS-230 or they accepted the package? Cause they're both two different things.

If they said they couldn't find the MC, then call up and request to speak with a supervisor. Explain the situation and that you did indeed send the MC. Ask for a supervisor to re-review to find it.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresNVC is confusing me! plz help?!?

I was just told that the ds-230 was accepted.. Good news! Buuttt they need our marriage certificate.. Wait.. Whhhaatt?? I sent that and everything that was said on saylins forum and i actually sent in the original and the translated in english and certified MC as well.. So now I am confused.. do they review everything seperetly?? I thought that they wouldn't except the ds-230 without the doc's needed?? He said he would put in a note for them to review but now I'm worried this will delay to get a case complete.. has this happened to anyone?? I am so confused now.. feeling the urge to bang my head against a wall now.. +sigh*

How did you find out they needed the marriage certificate? Was it verbally over the phone or did you receive a checklist? If over the phone, did they say the certificate was not in the package or just not "acceptable"?

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresDo I call the consulate or NVC, to confirm receipt of the packet?

Hi All...

My case is completed and waiting for the interview date.  Assuming my packet was mailed out yesterday, is everyone calling the consulate, to confirm that they have received the packet?  Or are you calling the NVC?  I know it's probably a dumb question but I don't want to burn another 30 mins on hold if I don't have to.

Unless South Korea is different, the interview date is assigned first, before the case is sent to the embassy. So, calling the embassy at this point is pointless as they don't know who you are. You need to be calling NVC to find out if an interview date has been assigned or not.
