When TomJoyce, Eguzzi and me finally get our NVC Case Nrs., it will definitely skew your "average" to the right!! 71 days for me since NOA2.

You're definitely right it will skew my average. I'm hoping though that everyone who got approved gets an NVC number quickly and that TSC cleans up their act. An NVC case number should be obtained within a week, not more than a month.

Hi Saylin - That's great news! We got our NOA2 on 1/24 (email) and 1/31 hardcopy, and I called the automated service today (NVC is closed) and they have no record of my case number... I provided my USCIS case number. A litle bummed. Seemed to go very smoothly for you though, which is great. Do you know if other recent approvals are still waiting for NVC like me? I know some of our November approvals are waiting... wondering about the more recent approvals...?

Yes, unfortunately, there are a lot of people that have gotten approved but still waiting at NVC. Only 3 out of the 28 approvals have gotten an NVC case number so far. It's taking an average of 45 days to get a number :(

I'm sorry but I don't want to read through 274 pages, so can someone tell me if ANYONE that got transferred has been approved or are we ALL sitting and waiting? This is so disturbing.

Yes, there have been 28 known approvals so far. Check this spreadsheet out: https://spreadsheets...dWc&hl=en#gid=0

Dang, Saylin beat me to the punch! Yes, 39 days for me to get my number. I blame that on TSC taking for flippin' ever to ship. So far in my speaking to NVC all the reps have been very kind and very very helpful. When I called on Friday the rep told me they had just received it and absolutely insisted that I call back today to give them my wife's and my email addresses. I called today and the first thing the rep did was ask for the email addresses and then asked how she could help me. I'll update you guys as to how long it takes to get my Invoice which they did not have yet. Hopefully NVC is on top of their game and we can leave the frustrations of Texas behind us. Good luck to everyone!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresMinor mistake on I-864 (split topic)

Hi all,

So the good news is our NVC case completed on Monday.

The less good news is that there was apparently a minor mistake in our i864 which the NVC have asked us to resolve by handing in a corrected i864 at the interview.

The exact wording on the checklist item is as follows:

In Part 3, Information on the Immigrant(s) You are sponsoring, please correct the following...
[x] Item 7. The total number of immigrants listed in Item 7 must equal the number of immigrants listed in Part 3, Items
1 through 6.f. In addition, you must also verify that the total number of immigrants listed in Item 7 matches the
number you entered in Part 5 Item1.

I am a bit confused by this as I believe that's what we've done. This is how it's been filled out:

In Part 3, Item 7 we have listed "1".

In Part 3, Item 1 through 6f we have ticked "Yes" for question 1, and left 2a-6f blank.

In Part 5, Item 1 we have listed "1".

So, I'm not sure what we've done wrong. Perhaps we're being a bit slow on the uptake, so can anyone give us a nudge about what we've done incorrectly?

Many thanks.

To me, it sounds like you did it right, but without looking at a copy of your filled out form, I can't say 100%.

If there is indeed a problem, the officers will point it out at the interview and just correct it there with you.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresChecklist Recieved for Civil Documents for DS260

Hello All,

Very early this morning at 5 AM, We submitted both the AOS Package (via email) and then within 2-3 minutes we sent out another email with the IV Package for the DS260 (again via email).

Now, at 5 PM today only, we recieved a checklist from NVC saying that please submit the civil documents for the principal applicant for supporting the DS260.

What to do ? Do i need to respond to Checklist, I'm assumign they only checked my first email and did not react or read the second email.

Any advises ?

This is what we call a false checklist. In your case, they reviewed (and likely approved) your DS-260. Without checking if you've sent in the requested package, they typically send out this checklist. Nothing to worry about, no need to re-send anything. Call up NVC to confirm they reviewed (and accepted) your DS-260.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresSilly me, sent I-130 without fee

I was so focused on the paperwork that I totally forgot the fee! What should I do? Wait for them to send me a notice or send a new one? Does anyone know how long it takes for them to send back the package to me? Suggestion please..

They'll return the entire package to you in about 1-2 weeks, possibly a bit longer, depending on the backlog. Just be patient and wait until you get the package back. Don't send out another one in the meantime.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresHello, pls can I send the w2 and i864 by email to nvc.

TY!

I was pretty sure about NIgeria not being eligible but I knew there HAD to be someone else lol

No problem! ;)

It started with China and Canada about 3 years ago, then Mexico was added, then slowly all those countries listed. Eventually, it's their goal to have all countries eligible for EP, but it will take quite a few years for that to happen (unfortunately). But, more and more are added each year, so it's only a matter of time.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresIncorrect Birth Certificate Information - split from The Stupid RFE Thread

There is a clerical error on my birth certificate and whoever the clerk was placed the hospital on the wrong city. For example, the hospital I was born in is actually in City A but the clerk put City B on my BC.

I have used City A on all of my documents - passport, tourist visa, PCC, school documents, work documents... everything!

Would I get flagged for that? Since they'll be looking at my BC and see that the birth city isn't the same as the city on my passport or forms but the hospital name is the same.

Just include a letter with the paperwork explaining the error. Everything should be okay.

Have you ever tried to get an updated, correct birth certificate? (If that's even possible.)

Thank you Saylin for your response,

but the thing is, i never got anything that tells me to send an AOS package, and i didn't get it in the mail either. What i got was the case number and invoice ID emailed to me, after that i paid the AOS fee ($88). So how can i send the AOS package? should i expect it to be mailed or download the forms online??

thanks for your help

You follow the guides and put together the AOS package yourself. You don't need to wait for NVC to send you something. I NEVER received the AOS instructions email from NVC.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresWhat to do after sending DS-3032 and AOS payment?

Hello everyone,

I've recently paid my affidavit of Support (AOS) fee, online. I also Sent my DS-3032 (Choice of Agent) application to NVC.
What is my next step now? I read that i have to pay the IV Fee but i don't know what that is?
can anyone explain to me what is to be done now, and what is the IV fee?

thank you very much

Once the AOS fee appears as PAID on the payment portal, you can send in the AOS package.

Once the DS-3032 is accepted, the IV fee will be invoiced. This fee is associated with the DS-230, currently $404. Once you pay that and it appears as PAID in the payment portal, you can send in the IV package.

Then, you wait for your case to be complete, sending in checklist responses if necessary.

March thread mentioned: http://www.visajourn...ers-march-2012/ The first two posts are where the important information is located.

Hi everybody

Please does anybody here has the same situation? We pay AOS fee and sent DS 261  more than ten days ago and still cant pay the second fee, on ceac page it shows IV is not available to pay, is it normal ? is it happen to anyone? please advice

Thanks a lot

The IV fee isn't dependent on the AOS fee, so don't focus on that. The IV fee is dependent upon the DS-261 being accepted and added to the case file. When you call NVC, what's the status on your DS-261?

I just filled out the DS260 and there was only one spot for employment. Which type of company I worked for and the address, I added two others. Nothing about supervisors or phone numbers of employers.

Really? Interesting. When I filled it out last month, it asked for the supervisor's name and phone number of the company of all past employers. They must have updated it then...

HAHAA that happened on mine because im currently unemployed and my parents are co-sponsours we live in the same household....and the box appears right and were like ummm okay ....I was like #### it we just put in currently looking for employment. lol
And the vaccine one he put I have my vaccanation record. They know everything already they just want to catch someone in a slip up or something stupid like that.

Ohh, good answer for the unemployment! If you don't mind, I'll use that answer since I'm unemployed as well and have been trying to figure out a good answer for that one. And for the vaccine one, yeah, I was just gonna write that I've had a vaccination record since I was born and that all vaccines have been recorded by a health professional.

That's good! Just make sure to click save after you complete each page! because a few times we were getting some info and the page just expired without reaching 2omins...and he had to re-type the freaking info again...so annoying. And it also asks something like , Do you have vaccanations that comply with U.S. requirements. When you click yes...a box appears and asks you to explain. Ohh and there is a what do you intend to do in the U.s.. if you click other a box appears there and asks you to explain.

I'll remember to save often.

Yes, I remember seeing that explanation box for vaccines. Which I find ridiculous. What's the point of explaining why you have had vaccines? Some of the places they have an 'explain' box completely baffles me. Like, for example, I saw that if you choose you're currently unemployed, an explain box appears. Do you really need to explain why you're unemployed? Posted Image

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresQUESTION ON DS 260 PLEASE HELP

It was mostly hella easy ........ just my hubby had to look for the address and name of supervisor for the previous employers for ten years, and telephone #'s. And just to let ya know it gives an option of do not know for name of previous employer. And when it asks for previous dates of visits and dates of previous employment my hubby wasn't sure on the exact day so he just put month and year....it allowed for the day section to be blank. I'll telll ya though it wants the address of freaking everything.

Yeah, I saw that in the screenshots. I already prepared last Friday my employment information, my previous addresses and school information. Just have to input it in the form. I'm glad I did it ahead of time as it took like 3 hours for me to get (although I was multi-tasking, so it could have taken shorter).

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresScreen shots DS-260

Is there a place to find screen shots of the new online form DS-260?  I went to a link in someone's post, but it was going to require me to pay $9.95 to download the screen shots.  I notice we do not have screen shots in the "Form Downloads" or "Example Forms" section.

I am trying to make sure my spouse has all the information necessary if and when my I-130 is ever adjudicated!!!!

I've got the old DS-230 - is it really just the same info but in an online format?

Sukie

It's ESSENTIALLY the DS-230, but there's some extra information in places, so looking at the screenshots is useful (although a few things have changed since this document was uploaded, even since I filled it out more than 2 years ago).

If you're referring to this website (http://www.docstoc.c...60-screen-shots) about the price, remember, you don't need to download it to view the screenshots. Just use the back and forward arrows and you can see the entire document without paying a cent. That's what I did 3 years ago.

You need to send in the AOS and IV packages. An interview isn't assigned until a case is complete, and that doesn't happen until both bills and packages are received and accepted.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresPriority Date

We got our NOA1 last Dec 19 through email but it doesn't say anything about a priority date. Where can I find ours? What is a priority date anyways?

A priority date for IR-1/CR-1 visa applicants isn't important. Priority dates are only important for visa categories where there's a limited number of visas given out each year. Since IR-1/CR-1 visas are unlimited, priority dates don't mean anything.

What you want to focus on is your notice date, aka NOA1 date.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Procedures2009 Tax Return-married but may file single? Please help!

Hi Saylin,

I am in the same situation with you and I am so stressed about it. I don't have any SSN or ITIN. Could you fill out married filed separately ? And the IRS accept that ?

I am too stressed and don't know what to do.

Thank you very much

If the USC is married, they have two options (possibly a third if they qualify) for filing taxes: married filing separately (MFS) and married filing jointly (MFJ). The easier route is MFS as it requires no extra paperwork from the beneficiary; 'NRA' just needs to be written in the SSN field. The MFJ route will likely give more money out though, but it requires some extra paperwork from the beneficiary, as well as it takes longer. Both methods require the petitioner fill out the tax return by hand though.

so for those who got married and filed i-130, when they file (for example me) tax return for 2010. Are they gonna file married jointly or separate? I would say jointly because my wife doesn't earn money in US? Does anyone know whether it is married and filing jointly or married and filing separately?
Thanks.

You're able to do either one. It doesn't matter. You'd get a bigger refund when filing jointly though, but there's more forms to fill out and such.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Procedures2009 Tax Return-married but may file single? Please help!

I am married and we are currently waiting for our case to be closed at the national visa center. I always file my taxes online with turbo tax...however, it looks like in order to file online with turbo tax (even for "married filing separately) I need to put in a social security number or tax i.d. number for my husband (who does not reside in the united states).

I called the IRS and they said I had to include the W-7 form with my taxes filled out (by hand) in order to receive a tax i.d. number for my husband. I am not planning to claim his income on my taxes.

I was wondering if I should just FILE SINGLE for my taxes due this year????? Would this cause any problems in the future for us????

Please help.

Thank you!

You can't file single though since you're married, it'd be a bad idea IMO. I know it's gonna require more work by doing taxes by hand, but you really don't have a choice. My husband (the USC) has to do the same thing this year. He's always done them online, but this year he can't since he got married during the 2010 tax year and I don't have an SSN or ITIN. If you file 'married filing seperately', you don't need an ITIN/W7 form, you can just write in 'NR' or 'NRA' in the SSN field. I discussed this with the IRS yesterday on the phone.
