Thanks Erick

Thanks Saylin. I think you can be in immigrant lawyer. hehehhe

You're welcome.

Hehe, thanks. A lot of people have been saying that lately Posted Image But, unfortunately, the town my husband lives in is super tiny (only 25k people) with no law school, thus I wouldn't be able to become an immigration lawyer. It would be pretty cool though being an immigration lawyer!

Sorry I have so many question. I thought I was prepared but I am hanging on each question. I do not want o get RFE.

Does everyone has the same requirement for submitting the documents? Do I need to include any other specific documents? Thanks

Mostly everyone has the same requirements. Some countries have other requirements, like India with passport clearance. Some beneficiaries have certain requirements, such as having a prior J1 visa and need to show proof of residency requirements. Those that are in the military have to send in a military certificate. Those that have been previously married have to send in divorce decrees. If none of this applies to you, then you're good.

Saylin, have you checked other timelines to see how long it will be for them to notify you for interview? And do you know if they would email or snail mail the interview letter? Now my patience are gone I want my husband to have his interview tomorrow LOL

Yup, been looking at timelines for Canadians since last week when I got my CC. Here's some for Tunisia: http://www.visajourn...unisia&dfile=No

If you gave your email addresses over to the operator back when you first got the case number, then you'll be emailed the interview letter.

oops my bad I didn't use the word cover letter

Just didn't want you confusing other people ;)

Everthing Saylin said and I will add what I did also...I used the cover sheet template on the VJ guide and put in my info, I put that after the IV Cover sheet, I also used removable labels and put Petioners full name and date of birth, Beneficiary's full name and date of birth, and the NVC case number on every piece of paper I sent them (except the cover sheets LOL)...Wishing you a fast journey through NVC

Make sure you don't confuse cover sheet and cover letter.

-Cover sheet is taken from the payment portal and has a barcode on it
-Cover letter is written by the petitioner/beneficiary

I have another question. What should I put under line 2 "Other name used or if married , maiden name)? thanks

That depends. What have you been using as your last name on forms: married name or maiden name?

Thanks Saylin, Do I write by pencil or pen on back of the photos?

Either or. If you write in pen, make sure it doesn't leak through to the front. I used pen and just wrote very lightly.

IV status changed to paid. I am sending these document tomorrow. I have listed following documents:
cover letter
DS230
Birth certificate and translation
Marriage Certificate
Police Certificate
copy of passport
2 photos

Am I good? Thanks

Make sure you print off the cover sheet from the payment portal and put that as the first thing.

Also, make sure the beneficiary's full name and date of birth plus the case number is written on the back of the 2 photos. And the 2 photos have to be 2" x 2".

Ensure only part 1 is signed on the DS-230. Part 2 cannot be signed.

Also include photocopies of the birth certificate and marriage certificate.

I know it's little too early but I already making phone calls to NVC.Unfurtunely my case is not there. Now, my question is,is it better to call AVR or talk to live person about my case?

Definitely an operator. I got my case number from an operator on a Tuesday. The AVR only updated 3 days later, on the Friday, to announce my case number.

So I was informed that I had opted out to not receive email notification from NVC (I never did that???) but now I just received my packet emails from NVC although I sent them in 2 weeks ago. Not included in those was a casecomplete. Just hoping for one before the end of March so I can for sure be on the list to get an interview in May! Saylin how were you so patient watching other people get CCs!!! I must channel your strength from Canada.

I've never heard of someone being opted out of email notification before Posted Image What is NVC doing? Posted Image

Don't forget, interview dates can be assigned any time during the month. I verified this yesterday (for Canada anyways) and I saw some interview dates were assigned in the first week of the month, others in the third week, and others in the last week. It's a bunch of bull what those operators are saying.

Haha, I was very patient. I knew my CC was coming, so I stayed positive. I'm doing the same now as I wait for my interview date :D I'll send some French patience your way ;)

Thanks Saylin!

By the way just got email regarding Application Processing Fees.

You're welcome. Pay pay pay!

Thanks Saylin and everyone who responded me. I called NVC and operator told me "if the birth certificate is in the language where spouse is born (native language), we do not need translation. Just send the original BC.

For eg. If spouse is from ukraine and her BC in in ukraine, do not need translation
If spouse is from ukraine, and her BC is in italian, do need translation

Yeah, I had heard of that too, but you would think NVC would still need a translation to read the certificate. If it were me, I'd still send in a translation, just in case.

I am sponsoring for my father.

Well if your father is the beneficiary then he needs to send his original/certified copy birth certificate to NVC in his IV package as it's one of the requirements. And I believe since you're doing an IR-5 that you need to include your original/certified copy birth certificate in the AOS package to prove that he's your father. Not sure, but I think I remember seeing that somewhere. So, if that's the case, then of course you won't be bringing any birth certificates to the interview as you'll have sent them to NVC and you'll get them back at the interview.

She was born outside the United States. She has birth certificate writeen in differnt language. I have her translated birth certificate. I do not have statement from translator though. Any suggestions? thanks

Your wife is the beneficiary right? I'm not entirely sure about translations and if a statement is needed. I'd call up an operator and ask about that.

I want to clear up something.

Lets say after the I-864 and everything is fine and my father gets the OK and get invited to the interview. Does he needs to bring both my and his original birth certificate to embassy?

Is your father a co-sponsor? Or?

I have a original and tranlated birth certificate for my wife. She has that translated a while back. But I do not have statement from translator saying that
•Translation is accurate, and
•Translator is competent to translate.

Do I need the statement?
Does my spouse need citizenship cerificate too? thanks

For the statement, I'm not entirely sure, but I think so.

If your spouse is the beneficiary, she only needs to send in her birth certificate. Was she not born in the country she's residing in now?

It might just be a false RFE for the DS-230.

Thanks for the tip bro, I'll do this if I don't get anything by this week :)

Is your spouse from Gujarat by the way? This police clearance certificate looks like it's going to be a headache. It also seems that the Gujarat government "requires" the wife to get a new passport reflecting she has taken her husband's last name. If this is true, what utter bull#&%! is this?

Yes, it's the first one that was issued at birth. If you don't have the original (I didn't), you can send in the certified copy. If it's not in English though, you're going to need notarized translations as well.

Gooooood evening my VJ fam!!

Congrats to all the recent CSC-TSC escapees

I still haven't received my IRS Tax Transcript (Saylin, I should have called the IRS the day you had told me to :innocent:) so I haven't been able to mail out the i-864ez.

On a brighter note, I was able to pay my $404 IV amount

Now time to read up on what else I need to gather.

Lol, hehe, told you :P When did you order them? It didn't take long for my husband to get his transcripts from the IRS. I believe it was just a week and a bit.

You should probably just mail in the AOS and IV together in the same envelope at this point.

If you got any questions about what you need to send in, don't hesitate to ask ;)

anyone know if I have to include pay stubs for I864 packet if my household member, who def. has the majority of the income to make us qualify to sponsor my wife, is going to include pay stubs?? I only have stubs from about 3 months back since I have been unemployed since the end of December. Is it even necessary for me to include them?

Pay stubs are optional, but it's definitely a good way to show current income if you don't have 2010 tax returns. If your sponsor is going to include pay stubs, then you don't need to, but I'd send in yours as well, even if it's three, it's alright.

Hello everyone - quick question. I noticed on my Cover Sheets both on AOS and IV, that they are marked with "CR1" underneath the bar code. If our marriage was over 2 years ago after the NVC inputted our case into their system, shouldn't that be marked with "IR1"? Did they make a mistake or is that corrected some place else along the process? Thank you!

If your marriage is over 2 years, then yes, technically, it should be IR-1. But I wouldn't worry about it. Just make sure at the interview that you're getting an IR-1 visa and also make sure at POE.

Saylin I have questions:

1. How long will it take after you pass AOS and IV packet for he NVC to review it?
2. Once NVC reviewed it, how long it takes for SIF and CC?
3. Once CC, how long it takes for your papers to leave NVC and mail to your respective embassy?
4. Once CC, how long it takes when NVC emailed you your medical and you schedule?

wheeewww thanks again:)

It takes NVC about 2 weeks to review your packages once they receive it. Then within a few days, if everything is correct, then the case is complete. I cannot possibly answer the other questions since it all depends on your embassy/consulate. Every embassy/consulate has a different wait time to assigning interview dates.

Just a note, since you're from the Philippines, you could have already done your medical as soon as you arrived at NVC and received an email from them with your case number. The Philippines is I believe the only country (that I know of) that allows advance medicals.

You can print the barcode once you are paid with AOS and DS-230.
NVC will email you a DS-3032 form with barcode but you have a choice to us or not to use it, it doesn't matter actually, i only used the VJ template when i email to NVC my DS3032 and they accepted it.

For the IV packet you have to pass
BARCODED Cover Sheet (to be printed from web when your status is PAID online for IV bill)
You OWN cover sheet listing what documents are in the package, so they're easy for the reviewer to locate
Completed DS-230 part I & II and ONLY part I signed by beneficiary.
Photocopy of the beneficiary's passport biographic data page.
Original/certified copy of beneficiary's birth certificate.
Original/certified copy of beneficiary's and petitioner's marriage certificate.
Original police certificates of the beneficiary.
Original/certified copy of military record, if applicable.
Original/certified copy of divorce decree, death certificate, etc. of previous marriage, if applicable.
2 2"X2" (5X5cm) color passport photos of beneficiary as per passport specifications.

and a photocopy of all the above.

here's the link to guide you : http://www.visajourn...he_NVC_ShortCut

I have two questions.I was looking at Wiki about 3032 form(choice of agent) and templet letter, what barcode they want me to paste on top of the form?

Do I have to send evidence for bonafide marriage with IV package also?(I already sent them to USCIS when I got RFE)

You're reading this wiki right? http://www.visajourn...il_DS-3032_form There's no mention of a barcode. You just email the data that's on that page, send it from the beneficiary's email account, and that's it.

No, you don't send evidence of a bona fide marriage. That's only required at the USCIS stage and possibly at the interview. None is needed at NVC.

In I-864ez what should my wife write in the part "b".shes only sponsoring me.

so in part "a" its "2" and if she writes "1" in part "b" its ok? they say not to count anyone twice.??

Your Household Size - Do not count anyone twice.
a. Yourself and the person you are sponsoring on this form.
2
b. Your spouse.

You just put 2 in a and that's it. Do not write 1 in b. If you don't have any children (or other dependents) and she's only sponsoring you, it should look like this:

a - 2
b - 0
c - 0
d - 0
e - 0
f - 2

Yeah I don't either. I believe that the Embassies send monthly or quarterly a list of available dates to the NVC. and NVC hands them out accordingly. It jsut doesn't make sense that for two weeks the appointment filer person doesn't work? Has it been known on VJ someone that got an appointment after the 15th of the month. And also I was wondering if IV stands for immigrant visa and not a roman numeral for 4.

Yeah, I don't understand either why they would only work a week or two assigning interview dates. Why not work all 4 weeks in a month? I'm sure there has to be someone on VJ that's been assigned an interview date after the second week.

And yes, IV stands for Immigrant Visa. I actually thought it was the roman numeral 4 for awhile, until I made the connection it stood for immigrant visa. Posted Image I was like d'oh Posted Image

I was just checking out the scheduled appointments at the US Embassy in Bangkok ( http://bangkok.usemb...edule030111.pdf ) and as of March 1 when it was published they have no appointments scheduled for the 18th. We received our notification on March 3 so we would not be on there but it looks likes my wife will be the only one there that day. I hope this is the case and they can stamp her passport the same day so she will not have to hang around in Bangkok for a few days to go back and pick it up. I am planning on flying them home the week of the 28th but if she can get her passport back the same day, I will try to get them home the week of the 21st..............

The only thing that sucks is that I have a week of ShoreTel Telecom training March 28 - April 1 so I cannot take time, at least my mom is taking a week off when they get here so she can be with them if i cannot get time off.

I want this to be over NOW!!

Hang in there everybody, I know it's tough but what other option do we have?? NONE

Just know that your wife and son will be home this month! I hope you can get the passport and visa the same day. Posted Image

Yeah, sadly I can still sign in. I'm hoping that on Monday I'll get SIF. You got SIF and CC on the same day which would be nice. I've never wanted weekends to past so quickly. I wont get a interview date until April for May though I think because they're only assigned the first two weeks of the month.

You should definitely find out next week of SIF then either CC same day or next. For me, the operator said the case was complete on the same day as my SIF, but when the AVR finally reflected a CC message, it was for the day after.

Since starting this process back in August, I've come to hate weekends. Nobody working on our cases. Two days completely lost Posted Image

I'm not sure about France, but I know of a few people in Canada who found out two months ahead of their interview, not just one. So, you might still find out this month when your interview date is, even if it is in May. And I don't believe NVC when they tell me that they only assign interview dates the first two weeks of the month. I smell a lie.

As far as the AOS package goes they entered it and i called the next day and was told everything looks great. Called the day after at just to double confirm and reassured everything was fine. So I'm assuming/hoping that they put that message when it's reviewed/official and if there was a problem they would say "we received your package and have issued a rfe" I'm only a couple days after Timosha's timeline so on Tuesday I should have SIF/CC if everything was good. OMG SAYLIN IT'S GONNA BE A LONG WEEKEND. Of course every milestone of mine with NVC has been on a freaking Friday  !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Have a good weekend. It's Luc's bday tomrrow :( It's not that a big of a deal bc were poor and don't really give gifts hahah. A CC would be a pretty awsome present though!

Unfortunately, the AVR messages aren't so cut and clear. Here's a list: http://www.visajourn...ost__p__1296891 It's from 2007 though, so they're probably a bit different now.

Just keep calling an operator. I'm sure you're gonna hear real soon of your CC :D

CONGRATS to all that are moving right along...Saylin and Timosha big CONGRATS woo-hoo soon an interview...
I think mine is almost finished I tried to login and I did get SIF but the AVR still says they are sending my package so I will have to wait all weekend then call Monday to find out if it is done (I hope so)
Take care all

I'd call ASAP on Monday to find out if you have a CC! And don't worry about the AVR, they're usually a few days behind. It took two days after my SIF for the AVR to reflect I had a CC.

Timosha Congrats!!!!! I just checked AVR and got the "The NVC has received the checklist letter response on March 10" response!

Question to anyone...if I had a RFE would it tell me before or after this message. I'm pretty sure I sent everything but I'm so nervous I can see the finish line and would be crushed for another obstacle.
Timosha congrats again!!!

I still think it's possible for an RFE since the AVR is just saying they've RECEIVED your DS-230. But I think it's safe to say you got no RFEs for your AOS package. They just have to review your DS-230 now, and then case complete in a few days, possibly next week Posted Image
