After giving them email addresses of both, should we send Ds-3032 or get invoice number 1st

Get the IIN while you're on the phone with the operator giving the email addresses. Then once you're off the phone, send the DS-3032 by email (http://www.visajourn...il_DS-3032_form) and then sign into the payment portal and see if your AOS bill has been invoiced.

'Congratulations!!!

I want my IV fee to generate!!!! Saylin I see on your time line it only took 2 days after they received your D3230. I'll give them until tomorrow. I've never wanted to give someone 400 dollars so badly! lol.

Posted Image You should be able to give over your wonderful $404 sometime real soon.

Make sure you are using the latest version (02/29/2012). I had the same problem with older version, and was also unable to print it out. I did a bit of research, and found that Windows 7 (which I have) was not compatible. I have had no problems with the one I just filled out. Perhaps NVC fixed the compatibility problem. I am not a computer expert, but all I know is - it didn't work; now it does.

Here I Go again Saylin!!!

On DS-230 Part ll, number 36, 37, 38 i couldn't type my any words but in the other items there's no problem..... Did you also experienced it? How would i fill it up? Is handwritten alright with those items?

Thanks:)

Weird that you couldn't type in those boxes. I'm looking at the DS-230 I filled out last year ahead of time and those boxes are filled in. If you can't fix it, then yes, you'll have to handwrite the answers in. Remember, don't sign part 2.

Thank youuuuu :D I-864EZ it is... now all I got to wait is for the IV fee to be generated and as for the problem we were percieving early it had to do with the fact that the AOS fee had not been generated by that time...NVC seems so much nicer place to be so far (knock on wood) by the way Saylin i live in Michigan and I travel a lot to Canada and Toronto reminds me of my home town with those tall and brick apartments, its really nice in there except for the fact I always get a ticket since the signs are in Km and miles  :bonk: :bonk: ... love your Canadian hockey team since a lot of them play for redwings lol go redwings :ot: lol

Salary means either being paid by the hour or having a fixed amount. Basically, they're saying to just use income from a job, no assets or anything else.

Hey guys, I have a question about the I-864EZ. What do they mean by "All your qualifying income comes from a salary or pension and shows on one or more W-2 Forms that you receive"

Thank You :star:

It means you can only use your salary, no assets or anything else to qualify as a sponsor.

We still can't log in to that payment portal... what about you?

Where did you submit the choice of agent form?

The online DS-3032 form (called the DS-261) is only available to select countries, such as Canada.

I have finished my 4 months and already in 5th month's wait time.I was trying to prepare for documents for NVC stage.

* Do NVC people accept emailed DS-3032,( is there any special format or my spouse can just scan signed DS-3032 and email to NVC)
* What all i need to send with I-864 ( which version of I-864 i should use) and i saw some people sent I-864 same day the I-864 bill was generated, how to do that? Do i have to wait untill NVC sents me package or i can just print the form USCIS , but then how to get bar code?
* what documents i need to send with DS-230? do they all have to be original (because my husband has to send me his original birth certificate, police clearance etc etc, and i am afraid these might get lost in mail or by NVC and its very hard to reproduce documents if we loose them)

So please advice us.
Thanks to all of you
GOOD LUCK and GOD BlESS EVERY BODY.
HOPE WE ALL GET THROUGH THIS JOURNEY SOON.

NVC does accept the emailed DS-3032. Follow these instructions: http://www.visajourn...il_DS-3032_form

For the I-864, read this guide: http://www.visajourn...p/EZGuideSpouse It lists what you need to send with the I-864. Use the version that is currently available at the USCIS website. As soon as the AOS bill appears as PAID, you can send the I-864 package. Just make sure you print off the bar-coded coversheet on the payment portal site. You do not have to wait for NVC to send you anything.

For the DS-230 package, read the above link. It has everything you need listed as well. The civil documents need to either be the original or certified copy.

same thing, i can not login either. what can we do???

I can still log in today as well. Weird that you're still getting that problem...

The Choice of Agent online form for me was within the area that everyone is having a hard time logging into. I'm not sure if it's available to everyone or specific countries only. I'm sure Saylin with know something about that.

Definitely not available to most countries. We're one of the lucky ones. There's a table at the bottom of this page that lists which countries can do EP and/or the online forms: http://travel.state..../info_5165.html

Hi Guys!

Still doesn't have my case number but i want to ask something so i can prepare it and mail it to my husband:)

To DANtes and Saylin,

Regarding the AOS, what did you used guys? is it the l-864 or l-864EZ? i think l-864 is more complicated than the EZ.....Do you think i can just use the l-864EZ, am the only beneficiary of my husband and my husband is eligible for the sponsorship? I don't have a work so it means i don't have any income to share to him?
What's your thought guys? thanks :)

I filed the I-864EZ and I believe DanTes did too. The I-864 is the basic form. The I-864EZ is a simpler form, BUT you have to meet ALL three of these criteria:

-You filed a Form I-130 petition, for your relative
-There is only one applicant on the Form I-130 petition, and
-All your qualifying income comes from a salary or pension and shows on one or more W-2 Forms that you receive

Grats on sending the optin and getting your numbers. If the bills are available to pay, then yes, pay them right away! Don't forget to send the DS-261 that's online. It's the Choice of Agent form! And once the AOS appears as PAID, you can email the AOS package. Once your IV bill appears as PAID, you can then fill out the online DS-260 and email your documents after you're done.

Oh Saylin what would we ever do without you?! LOL to your "long response time".

I'm the petitioner for my canadian hubby and I have been the ONLY one researching this process and it's a lot of info for only one person to know how to do...then of course having to explain it all to my hubby.

Now if only tomorrow weren't a holiday here, I could get my IIN!

Thanks Saylin, I might be bugging you some more in the next 4 months.

I'm kind of in the same situation as you, but I'm the beneficiary. I've been the one doing all the research. But that's cause my hubby works full-time while I didn't. I just tell my hubby what to do and he does it. "Pay the AOS bill." "Pay the IV bill." "Scan your AOS documents." :)

Yes, too bad today is a holiday :(

Also, don't forget, when you ask for the IIN, make sure you also ask for the beneficiary ID number. This is needed for those doing the online forms. It asks for this number on the DS-261 and the DS-260, so you need to get it!

And bug me all you want! Posted Image

Saylin
I think I am going to do the EP, and you probably did the same thing. Did you still send the optin email to NVC with the signed and scanned DS-3032? I know there's now a new online process, so I'm not sure which steps I am supposed to keep/eliminate. Thanks in advance!!!
:help:

[ I apologize ahead of time for the long response Posted Image ]

Yes, I did EP.

You have to send an optin still, but with no DS-3032. Subject line: OPTIN MTL2011XXXXXX. Make sure you have "OPTIN" at the beginning of the subject line, then fill in the X's with the rest of your case number. For the body, just put petitioner's name, date of birth, email address and the same info for the beneficiary. Send it to NVCElectronic@state.gov

For the DS-3032, there's an online version for Canadians that is required. It's called the DS-261. Once that's available, fill it out and submit it. If you want to see screenshots of the form that I took, check them out here: http://s128.photobuc...61 screenshots/

Paying the AOS fee is the same. Once it appears, you then scan all your AOS forms and documents and email it to the same address as the optin that I mentioned before.

Now, since you're in Canada as well, there's a new DS-230 form that's online that is required for you to fill out. That online form is called the DS-260. Once the IV bill appears as paid, you can then start filling out the form online. Screenshots can be found here: http://www.docstoc.c...60-screen-shots I highly suggest you check them out as there is some info required that is not asked on the DS-230. I spent quite a few hours getting that extra info. When it does come around time to fill out the DS-260, if you have all your info at hand, it should take you around an hour to fill out. Once you're done and submit it, you can then email the scanned documents (passport pics, birth cert., marriage cert., police cert., and copy of passport) to the same email address.

And that's a brief summary of what you have to do if you do EP. If you don't do EP, it's the same process but you snail mail your AOS and IV documents and you don't send the optin email. You'll still have to do the online forms even if you don't do EP as it's required regardless now of Canadian spouses.

If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask ;)

Dear Sir/Madam:

Your inquiry has been received at the National Visa Center (NVC).

We received the principal applicant's DS-3032 (Choice of Address and Agent) form designating an address and agent. Instructions for paying the immigrant visa application processing fee and all future correspondence will be sent to the agent at the address selected on the DS-3032.

For more information regarding the immigrant visa application fee or for answers to frequently asked questions, please visit the following website:

http://travel.state..../info_3904.html

If a period of one year passes from the last date of contact with the NVC (by email, telephone or mail), all submitted fees and documents will expire. In that case, your fees will need to be repaid and documents will need to be resubmitted in order to continue the immigration process.

Case Number: MNLXXXXXXXXXX

Preference Category: CR1
Your Priority Date: 14Jul2010

We've just received our NVC number!!!! And invoice number! :) woooooooooo hoooooo!!! It was assigned yesterday, February 17th!

Omg, another case number assigned! Grats! Posted Image

I have a question: when you called to get your nvc case number and they told you the case number was.... and then they said it was assigned let's say February 17, twenty eleven. I wonder what do they mean by "twenty eleven"? Is it year, or is it time? because I usually hear people referring to years as two thousand eleven. Just curious hehe Does anyone know? :)

When they say twenty eleven, it means the year: 2011 -> 20 / 11. For whatever reason, that's how the AVR voice says years. You're right though, usually people say two thousand eleven.
