IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresCalifornia to Texas & Texas to California - Part 2

Dear all,

I'm also new to this thread. I have my CR1 interview scheduled at the Montreal consulate in early July. I'm wondering if someone with experience at this consulate can tell me whether or not my Wife (who is a US citizen) is to accompany me to the interview? The interview letter did not mention anything about bringing her to the interview, but I want to know if it will help or make a difference if she does?

Thanks for your help!

For the consulate in Montreal, the petitioner is not needed at all. Of course she's allowed, but Montreal is really easy and having the petitioner there doesn't really make a difference.

thank you....case has been closed since the 6th but still no cc email or anything about packages being shipped to sydney, but in dhl tracking I saw two packages being sent yesterday to sydney...so i'm hopeful that they are my packages...at least I want to beleve that.

You won't be getting a CC email. Only those doing EP will get this as it comes from NVCElectronic@state.gov which is the email address for those doing EP to send packages.

And your case won't be shipped to the consulate/embassy until an interview date has been scheduled.

Just keep calling NVC and DOS to see if an interview date has been scheduled for the case yet.

I think the mess is over for you two as well. Although I'm sure you'll both still be holding your breathe and won't let it out until you're both together in the US, which hopefully will be very, very soon :)

Hey guys

OK.....I have a question that maybe no one really knows but I'll throw it out there.....Gary just called Knights bridge and they said that he PASSED his medical and they are forwarding it to consulate. Gary then called consulate and they told him once they receive the medical he will , " be taken out ofadministrative processing and contacted again". At his interview his officer said he realized the urgency of his case and would reunite him with his family as soon as possible. Am I grasping at straws here or do you think he is done? Why will they be contacting him again? What does it mean when they say they are going to take you out of administrative processing? From what I've read that is a good thing? UGGH..... I"m certain I have irritable bowel syndrome from all this.....Posted ImagePosted Image

Alright, first thing's first, take a nice, slow, deep breath. Good :)

Now. You were placed in AP (administrative processing) because of the medical. As soon as the consulate receives the new medical results, you'll be taken out of AP, like they said on the phone. This is very good news.

AP = bad.
Being taken out of AP = good.

As soon as they get the medical results, they'll probably finalise a few things, get the visa printed and put it into the passport. Then they'll ship it out, or whatever they do at the consulate in London. I don't know how long it usually takes to get your passport/visa back from the consulate, but you might have it as early as next week sometime :)

I'd say, call up the consulate again on Monday to see if they've received the medical and if so, if they've finished processing your case. Perhaps you can also ask if it's possible to pick up the passport and visa at the consulate due to the urgency of your case.

Hey Guys.....thank you for the very kind posts. Gary had his medical today and is now on the bus back to his moms. He had to have another shot and x-ray and the nurses at Knightsbridge said from THEIR point of view...all LOOKS FINE!!! Posted Image X-ray looked just fine according to the Tech. Gary called consulate and they said if he does NOT hear anything by Friday, that means the medical was fine and we should be on our way....VERY scared to get hopes up but...I AM GETTING EXCITED. I am going to throw the biggest party when this is over and invite every single one of our Visa Journey friends....I swear it feels like we are all war buddies. PEACE AND LOVE EVERYONE!!! Super Saylin to the rescue!! Of course I was looking at the wrong site. :bonk: Poor me. I clicked on the link you posted and sure enough "Sign in Failed"! That makes me feel a little giddy!

I was just checking out your blog and you are the greatest! Your folder for your interview was awesome, I may have to copy that!! lol.

We should have a reunion every few years on this sight...Visa Journey Class of 2011 (the to hell and back clan)..

Haha, glad I was of help! Yeah, for those doing online forms, there's two sites to log onto and the one you were logging on to won't give a SIF. They probably let you still log onto that one in case you need to print off the DS-260.

And I give you full permission to copy my folder :P Posted Image I love my folder. It's definitely helped me in staying super organized!

And I hope I can come to that reunion too even though I wasn't sent to TSC!

Thanks Dear, I only hope they hadn't separate my file from my daughter's again and make it longer to havve her SIF too

Oh, I really hope not! Posted Image NVC has already messed up so many times with your case and your daughter's!

Saylin, sorry I didn't reply to your msg, I called NVC but too much waiting time to have an operator, it costs a lot to call with my French cell, Hubby is busy today, he should be home soon, we will then call NVC

I'm still here alive and kicking....

Val and Gary...I will say a prayer that all goes well, I'm sure things will go great and you guys will be together in no time!

Saylin! You left me here in Canada!! lol. How are you??? How does it feel to be on the other side of this process?

I got 2 RFEs within the past few months. I finally got this email a little while ago..

Thank God no more RFEs, I would of just had a breakdown. Does this email mean an SIF will follow soon?

I just want this to be over with. October (the month I plan to move) is so far away, yet I know it will come fast with all the things I have to do take care of before leaving, including our son's American Consular Report of Birth Abroad papers, that we still have yet to do (long story as to why it hasn't been done yet).

I wish everyone the best, it has definitely been a journey!

Haha, sorry for leaving you in Canada :P I'm doing good! It's nice to finally be back in the USA! Got my green card last week, just waiting on my SSN now which I had to apply for in person on Friday.

And the email you got means CC! Most people get the SIF first. Are you checking on the right site? https://ceac.state.g...ice/signon.aspx If you don't get SIF, it's not a big deal. The CC email is what counts ;) Plus, the AVR should update to reflect a CC as well.

Either in a few days or a few weeks, you'll find out your interview date. Good luck!

We got an email today from NVC with a pdf file telling us they finished processing our case and scheduled an interview for me at 8 am on July 5th! The interview is actually earlier than I'd expected; I'd thought maybe August or September, so we're pretty excited that it's going to be so soon.

Congratulations on the visa, Saylin! Was it a pretty straightforward process? What's POE?

Thanks! It was very easy and straightforward at Montreal Posted Image

POE = Point of Entry. It's where you go through customs and have to give over the sealed envelope you get from the embassy/consulate. Most people go through POE at airports. I'll be driving though, so I'll be doing POE at a land border.

They'll review whatever they get first.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresCalifornia to Texas & Texas to California - Part 2

We got checklists from NVC saying they don't have any of the stuff we sent. I'm not sure if that means they still haven't gotten to our actual emails or if we somehow did it wrong when we sent them (I wasn't able to figure out how to save all of my documents into one pdf file so I sent multiple pdfs, though my husband's AOS was all in one file). I guess we'll call tomorrow and try to figure it out, but I'm pretty frustrated. It's like, seriously? No part of this process is going to go smoothly?

I've seen a lot of people getting RFEs for packages that they sent, but NVC is saying they haven't received them yet. You can always try to re-send the packages, but it's probably because NVC just hasn't gotten to them yet.

What kind of police certificate do we need for the DS-0230? Do we need fingerprinting done or can we go to our local police station and get a police certificate?

You only need fingerprinting done if you've committed a crime. If you never have, then just a regular, non-fingerprinted certificate will do. You can go to a local police station, the RCMP, or a private agency. Up to you.

I don't know how you make them into 1 document unless you're using Adobe. Each program is different. I've only worked with Adobe and I know how to combine files on that program. If you don't want to get that program and decide to go with another one, then I can't help you.

Can anyone please tell me after I scan all my documents how do I make them into 1 file? I don't have adobe so I don't know how to do this? Or even though I opted for electronic processing can I express mail my packages instead?

If you don't want to get Adobe, you might be able to try one of the other PDF programs like CutePDF or FoxIt. But I don't know how either of these work as I simply downloaded Adobe awhile ago as it's the best.

And no, if you opted in, you cannot send your packages by snail mail. If you want to snail mail them, you'd have to opt out.

My wife's file has been completed at NVC and interview has been scheduled on 06/28/2011 at Bombay office. My wife's file was completed on 04/07/2011 but the interview date is after more than two months.

Does anyone know how to expedite at the local consulate?

Thanks,

It's probably too late to expedite now since you finished with NVC and have a date. You can try contacting the embassy and asking for an earlier date, but I'm not sure that's possible at this point since you've completed everything.

Hello everyone, big big congrats to all for the huuuge progress!! We are all near the very end of this journey, and oh what a journey !!
Little update on my side: my IV was stuck at "in process" for more than 3weeks, was calling nvc but of course they kept saying to wait for it to show the bill paid, on one of my daily phones (4/18) was told that my expedite request was approved that morning and to send the AOS and IV docs and a money order for IV (the operator said that even though they usually don't accept checks at the New Hamphsire facility) attn: supervisor sue. I overnighted everything on the 20th, and they forwarded the docs and returned the check :), my husband will pay at the embassy. The embassy received the packege on the 25. They contacted him 2 days later and told him they are mailing him a form that he needs to fill out and they will schedule an interview when they receive that form back. My husband got so excited when they called that he forgot to ask what the form was or if he can go to the embassy to pick it up or if they can email it to him or anything :) He called them today (but they closed on fridays), he will call again on monday. We miss himso much, and he hasn't even seen his new son and our first son has grown so much and he missed out on so many "firsts" ... but things are moving now so all is goid.

GOOD LUCK FOR NEXT WEEK INTERVIEWS (SAYLIN, JENNY, AND I DON'T REMEMBER WHO ELSE )

CONGRATS EXELANCE!

Grats on getting your expedite approved! And I hope your husband finds out next week what form it is. Hopefully you can get an interview date assigned soon after. Good luck!

Hi Saylin, got a stupid question

How do we know the Embassy's timeline?
Thanks and good luck with your interview

Hi :)

I was looking at timelines here: http://www.visajourney.com/timeline/k1list.php?cfl=$cfl&op3=5&op5=5,6,8,10,11,13,14,15,16,17,18,20,21,22,25,26,27,28&op6=All I would choose my country in the drop down menu and just went through everyone's timelines. I made a spreadsheet for myself and saw the average times from CC to interview date assigned, from CC to interview, and from interview date assigned to interview. I had a lot of statistics :) I'm now using that link to see average times from interview to visa received on my spreadsheet. It's an amazing tool, I must say Posted Image

And thank you :) Interview is almost here finally.

Saylin, Hello there.. how are you? I don't have much time to come here and but I follow .. seems quiet around here. He Saylin, how long after case completed do they send the appointment letter or package and from there how long do you have for the interview. I am trying to schedule my vacations around that time to go to Mexico to the interview with my wife... what do you think?

I'm doing good. Getting anxious for my interview this Tuesday :)

It was 15 days after my case complete that an interview date got assigned to me and the day after that I received the interview package by email. From the interview date being assigned to the actual interview, it was 40 days.

But you have to remember, those timeframes are for Canada. Since you're in Mexico, it's probably going to be different timeframes. You need to look at Mexican's timelines and see what it should be for you. I don't know how busy the consulate is in Cd. Juarez, so it might be a shorter or longer wait from CC to interview.
