IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresCalifornia to Texas & Texas to California - Part 2

It was approved last Wed, I waw feeling so miserable those later days, and the Monkeys knew I was approved

The Monkeys, besides pushing random buttons for people, are also very slow on sending approval letters. Four days later you find out you're approved. Silly Monkeys Posted Image

Congrats to the recent approvals...............

I fired off an email to the Visa Unit at the US Embassy in Bangkok to get some clarification on what my next step is. To me this isn't clear? Has our petition been forwarded to the Embassy or just a request? From the Congressional Liaison at NVC:

Thank you for your email dated February 22, 2011. The National Visa Center (NVC) received the immigrant visa petition filed by Wade Scott Grant on behalf of Kampong Pinongram and assigned case number BNK**********. The attached expedite request was forwarded to the U.S. Embassy in Bangkok, Thailand for review. Mr. Grant will be notified when a response is received.

I hate this whole damn process, such a cluster f**k.

It seems like NVC received your expedite request and they're now sending it to the embassy and they'll approve or deny your expedite. If it's approved, NVC will be notified and send your case along to the embassy.

"For approved applications/petitions, post-decision activity may include USCIS sending notification of the approved application/petition to the National Visa Center or the Department of State."

Are you sure?

(some traces of paranoia)

Erase all traces of paranoia. Lidia is right, NVC is the DoS. You have nothing to be worried about. Your case will soon get a number assigned at NVC.

Receipt Number: WACxxxxxxxxxx

Application Type: I130 , IMMIGRANT PETITION FOR RELATIVE, FIANCE(E), OR ORPHAN

Your Case Status: Initial Review

The I130 IMMIGRANT PETITION FOR RELATIVE, FIANCE(E), OR ORPHAN was transferred and is now being processed at a USCIS office. You will be notified by mail when a decision is made, or if the office needs something from you. If you move while this case is pending, please use our Change of Address online tool to update your case with your new address or call our customer service center at 1-800-375-5283.

During this step, USCIS initiates the background checks of the applicant/petitioner and identifies issues that may need to be addressed either during an interview or by asking the applicant/petitioner to submit additional information or documentation. USCIS reviews the applicant's/petitioner's criminal history, determines if there are national security concerns that need to be addressed, and reviews the application/petition for fraud indicators

If you have filed an I-485, I-589, I-751, N-400, I-90, I-821, I-131 or I-765, you can expect to receive an appointment notice to appear at an Application Support Center to have your fingerprints and/or photographs taken. The timing of your appointment is determined by the number of applicants ahead of you that also need a biometric appointment. We try to schedule biometric appointments as quickly as possible and in most cases you will receive your appointment notice within 30 days of submitting your application. We will send your appointment notice approximately 14 days ahead of your scheduled appointment. It is important that you keep this appointment. If absolutely necessary, you can request that your appointment be rescheduled however, please be aware that rescheduling may delay the processing of your application. Please follow the instructions on your appointment notice if you need to reschedule. Occasionally, you may receive an appointment notice to appear at an Application Support Center to have your fingerprints taken when you have filed a form other than those listed above. In these situations, you may receive your appointment notice more than 30 days after submitting your application or petition.

If you have questions or concerns about your application or the case status results

So, I just spent about an hour updating the spreadsheet. Went through it and took out people that haven't logged on in months. I figure we'll never see them again, so there's no point in keeping them on the spreadsheet. Because of this, percents went way up.

Here's some updated stats:

102/133 people have been approved (77%)

Of those 102 approvals, 44 already have their case numbers (taking an average currently of 22 days)

3/5 June filers have been approved (60%)
52/64 July filers have been approved (81%)
45/61 August filers have been approved (64%)
2/2 September filers have been approved (100%)

I doubt USCIS will be able to approve those remaining 31 people before their March 1 deadline, but hey, they're gonna get pretty damn close if I do say so myself to making it to their deadline. Perhaps we'll see some approvals over the weekend if USCIS really pushes it.

With just the receipt number, it's not a big deal. If someone knew your name, date of birth, email address, etc, someone can do some damage. But I really don't think it's a big deal. But if you want to sleep better at night, ask an admin.

Ok, thanks! What address do I put on the I-864 for my spouse? My address here in the states since I'm his agent now or his address in the Bahamas?

If it's asking information about the immigrant, then it's their foreign address. If it's asking information about the petitioner, then it's the US address.

The only thing that changes in becoming an agent is that you receive mail from NVC instead of the beneficiary. It doesn't change anything else, like filling out forms.

Dear all,

I'm also new to this thread. I have my CR1 interview scheduled at the Montreal consulate in early July. I'm wondering if someone with experience at this consulate can tell me whether or not my Wife (who is a US citizen) is to accompany me to the interview? The interview letter did not mention anything about bringing her to the interview, but I want to know if it will help or make a difference if she does?

Thanks for your help!

For the consulate in Montreal, the petitioner is not needed at all. Of course she's allowed, but Montreal is really easy and having the petitioner there doesn't really make a difference.
