After submitting my DS-260 how long does it take to hear from NVC?!? My case is an MEP

You don't hear from NVC about your DS-260.

Have you submitted the other two packages yet, the AOS and IV?

$230 + $74 (surcharge fee) = $303

Please check your invoice before paying fee. I think, DOS is currently upgrading their system. It is better to see option carefully. Posted Image

The surcharge has either been removed or been included in the $230. It's not $304.

So they reduced the fee from 404 dollars to 230 dollars? Is that right?

Yes, that's right. On April 13th, the IV fee decreased, going from $404 down to $230. All those getting invoiced for here on after will be charged $230, not $404.

I have submitted everything AOS AND IV packages and paid all my fees to the NVC electronically, so im wondering how long does it actually take to get a case closed/complete? the operator told me it could take up to 20 business days or less. i have a MEP case. After getting case closed/completed how long does it take to get an appointment at Ciudad Juarez? :(

I responded to you already. It's currently taking NVC about a week to review packages and close the case if everything is approved.

And on average, most people get their interview date within a few weeks.

Newlyweds are wise, IMO, to skip the optional affidavits and concentrate on the "any other...." evidence of relationship.

Yeah, that's what we did. We just focused on sending in a few pictures and my plane tickets to the US. Nothing much at all. But considering we had only been together for a few months, it's not like we had a lot of evidence.

Thank you very much for your response. How about affidavits do they have to be notarized and who can they be notarized by. Does the beneficiary have to provide affidavits from her side as well if I provide affidavits from my side? Who in the beneficiary's country can notarized affidavits? A lawyer, pastor of a church or something?

I don't know anything about affidavits. We never submitted any. They're optional.

All it says in the I-130 instructions is:

"Affidavits sworn to or affirmed by third parties having personal knowledge of the bona fides of the marital relationship. (Each affidavit must contain the full name and address, date and place of birth of the person making the affidavit, his or her relationship to the petitioner of beneficiary, if any, and complete information and details explaining how the person acquired his or her knowledge of your marriage);"

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresG325-A for I-130

Hello everyone

I'm the foreign beneficiary & I am about to fill out the form G325-A to send along with the I-130 and I have a few questions.

1. Should I put N/A or None for the items that don't apply to me such as File Number, Social Security Number & Former Husband or does it not matter whether I use N/A or None?

2. Applicant's last address outside of the US of more than one year. Should I put N/A or None or just put back the address listed in the applicant's residence for the last five years or put same as above?

3. Applicant's employment for the last five years. This is first job and I've been in it for a year prior to that I have been unemployed for year and before that I was a student at university. Should I include that I was unemployed or was student in there or just fill the remainder with N/A or NONE.

4. Should I put N/A or None in all empty spaces or should I just put N/A or None once on each line?

Thanks.

1. Put 'none' for those questions.

2. Have you never lived in one residence (outside of US) longer than a year? If so, then put the most recent one.

3. The only job you'd put in this question is your current one as it's your first.

4. You put 'none' or 'N/A', depending on the question. They're both two different things.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresG325A Biographic information

Dear All,

Can anyone help us to fill the G325A form. I am confused at 2 points:

1) Applicants last address outside US of more than 1 year. " For my husband, as he is Pakistani and we are living in Saudi Arabia, what i should mention"

2) at the end of the form they have asked about the Alien Registration number. "How can i get this Registration number."

Also if anyone have good suggestions please let us know.

Regards,

Sana & Shakil

Is the G-325A you're asking questions about for the petitioner or beneficiary?

For petitioner:
1). If the petitioner has lived in Saudi Arabia for more than a year, then the petitioner would put the address in Saudi Arabia. If it hasn't been a year in Saudi Arabia (and hasn't lived in any other countries except the US), then the petitioner would put 'none' for this question.
2). If the petitioner is a natural-born citizen (born in the US), then they won't have an alien registration number. The only case the petitioner would have an A# is if they themselves immigrated to the US (such is the case for LPRs or naturalized citizens).

For beneficiary:
1). If the beneficiary has lived in Saudi Arabia for more than a year, then the beneficiary would put the address in Saudi Arabia. If it hasn't been a year in Saudi Arabia, then they would put the latest address in Pakistan that was over a year.
2). In most cases, the beneficiary doesn't have an A# yet at this point. If the beneficiary had a previous US visa or had dealing with US border officers, then it's possible.

Everyone else has given great advice on it all but just wanted to add that the reason for the Embassy probably giving different information is that filing in London is slightly different from filing in the US. Im assuming you called the Embassy in London but your husband filed from the US? Im currently filing in London and ive noticed quite a lot of things i have to do are quite different to what others have to do filing from elsewhere.

Good luck! Hope its a speedy process for you.

Well, yes, the DCF process is quite different from the regular process as you file everything at the embassy; you don't send things to USCIS or NVC in the US.

Ok, Another question!

We don't have the NOA2 yet, but I want to be prepared!

Can I fill out the DS-230 form now and send it via snail mail to him or I read somewhere that you can do it via email, do they send that the forms to me?

Like I said, I just want to get this whole NVC process down and understood so we can hopefully do it asap!

Thank you!!

Only a few eligible countries can send the packages by email. Unfortunately, the UK isn't one of them yet. So, your only option is to snail mail packages. You can email the DS-3032 form, but that is it. The AOS and IV packages have to be mailed in.

So, with that in mind, yes, you can fill out the DS-230 now and send it to him. I would suggest doing the following: having one completely filled out and just part 2 signed, then send like 5 blank ones with only your signature for part 1. I suggest the multiple copies in case you messed up somehow and got a checklist from NVC. All your husband would have to do is re-fill out one of your blank copies (with your signature already) and send it to NVC, without having to wait for you to send it out to him.

I just wanted to ask you a question......Do you think it is ok if I sent my affidavit of support along with my I-130 petition? I did that....I hope it won't cause a problem.

That was wrong. The AOS gets sent only at the time of NVC. Hopefully, USCIS will just disregard it and not return your package to you.

I suggest reading the guides here. Hopefully you didn't do anything else wrong if you did something like that... The I-130 has excellent instructions and no where does it say to send the AOS package with the petition.

Nope, the AOS gets sent to NVC. And once your case is complete there, your case is sent to the embassy where they'll have it on them for your interview.

You should review some guides. I made a post linking a few, which you can find linked to in my signature below. I'd suggest reading them to get a better idea of NVC. Seems like you've been getting misinformed, and by the embassy no less Posted Image

The AOS is the I 485 right? We still have to do that? I thought we only did that if I was in the U.S while the I-130 was pending?!

No, in this case, the AOS stands for Affidavit of Support, the I-864 form, which the petitioner fills out and sends in the AOS package.

The one you're referring to is Adjustment of Status, and like you said, is when the beneficiary is within the US.

Hello All,

I hope I have put this in the correct forum. (I apologise if I have not!)

Anyway, My Husband is a U.S Citizen and I am English, He filed the petition for the I - 130 On November 16th 2011. It went to the California service centre. All the tables I have looked at say we should get a decision in about 5 months. I have been told that it will then go to the NVC for re processing, does anyone know how long we can expect to wait for that? Then, as I am still in the U.K, it goes to the London Embassy, again, does anyone know when we can expect to hear from them? How long do they have it for before I can book my medical etc?

I know I have asked a few questions but I have rang the London embassy a few times and can never really get an answer from them at this stage as our application is still in inital review. Has anyone else gone the way we've had to?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Many thanks!

As you know, it's currently around 5 months for I-130 approval.
It then takes CURRENTLY three weeks to get a case number assigned at NVC. This time frame is always fluctuating between 1 week to 4 weeks, so it might be different once you get to NVC.
The time it takes in NVC after you get your case number is completely up to YOU. If you have everything prepared ahead of time, you can fly through NVC within 2 weeks! So, in total, about 2 months at NVC, including case number wait times.
After you get a case complete at NVC, it's then roughly 2 months till your interview date.

So, it's roughly 9 months for the entire process. If you filed mid-November, you should roughly be done with this process around August of this year.

We are done paying AOS and IV i am about to send the DS 230 and now they want us to send DS 3032. Do you guys think that theres error sometimes in NVC that possibly cause this and ask us to send form again online or mail? Thanks

There was an error. If you paid the IV fee, that means they already accepted your DS-3032. The IV fee is not invoiced until NVC accepts the DS-3032. Just focus on the IV package, ignore the DS-3032 as it's been accepted.

Hello, I sent to the US embassy in cairo a message to ask about my interview date they replied ' We acknowledge receipt of your case. We forwarded a packet of instructions with the required documents and forms to your address in Egypt via DHL. Upon receipt of your completed packet, we will schedule an appointment for your final visa interview on the first available slot" is this normal? I sent to the NVC all the documents and forms they needed in the Packet IV so why do they ask about additional forms ?

I think they were confused and thought you were a K1 visa applicant. K1s receive packages directly from the embassy and send the completed ones back. But for IR-1/CR-1 applicants, like you, packages are sent to NVC.

If you want to know your interview date, you should be calling NVC and DOS about it. You'll also receive an email from NVC when it is scheduled.

So, I've paid my fees online and follow the link for IV instructions on the receipt page.

Now I'm confused. I have completed the DS-230 including a 4 page addendum containing all my info that will not fit on the form.

But the website SEEMS to be saying I need to submit all my civil documents as well (see list below)

Required Documents

Original documents, photocopies, and translations (if required, as explained above) of the following documents must be submitted to the NVC for you and each family member immigrating with you to the United States.

Birth Certificates
Court and Prison Records
Deportation Documentation
Marriage Certificates
Marriage Termination Documentation
Military Records
Petitioner Documents
Photocopy of Valid Passport Biographic Data Page
Photographs
Police Certificates
Adoption Documentation

Is this true these are submitted at the same time as the DS-230 submission online?

and if the answer is YES, then don't I need a cover letter for this package too?

For Canadians, it's REQUIRED to do online forms (DS-260, online form of DS-230). You do NOT complete the DS-230.

After (or before) you submit the DS-260 online, you have to send in the IV package (minus the DS-230). If you signed up for electronic processing, you'd email the IV package.

I HIGHLY suggest you read the wiki I wrote (linked in my signature below). It deals with EP and online forms. Please give it a read and if you have questions afterwards, I'd gladly answer you :)

i re-sent the W2 and the form 1040 for the 2011 tax year.

just off phone with NVC...they say now, "tax info for 2011, still not complete".

I just initiated a "service request" to review file.

When submitting tax returns, it has to be the ENTIRE tax return. Meaning, you have to include the 1040, 1099, all schedules, all worksheets, etc, as well as including all W2s.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresNVC HELP

Saylin,

You rock !

Similar question to what I asked on your May NVC thread yesterday.

This is all so nicely laid out on VJ that I feel like I only complicated things by getting an immigration lawyer. So, he's doing electronic processing for us. We're all ready to fly through NVC just waiting for case number and to pay the fees.

My fear was that if I called and opted in for email that I would somehow undo what he's set up for electronic processing. So, I still need to give NVC my emails, he does the DS260 via electronic processing and all the other stuff by electronic processing.

Basically all the emails do is notify me when stuff is happening so I can keep on top of him ?

Please keep in mind, electronic processing (sending packages by email) is a completely different process than online forms (DS-260). For Canada, electronic processing is optional and you need to opt in, whereas online forms are REQUIRED. If you want to do electronic processing, either you or your lawyer has to opt in.

I strongly encourage you to read the wiki I wrote on those very two subjects (includes the optin email format). It's linked below in my signature.
