IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsSeptember 2014 Interviews

Looked at my embassy page...

September seems filled and they opened october w/ one interview scheduled mid October. I've been looking at the trend and for september CR1 interviews are ALOT less than what they usually are, wonder if they left some open spaces? :D

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsSeptember 2014 Interviews

Welcome to the group. Congratulations on the Case Complete. Interview scheduling should start about next Thursday. So buckle up for a wild good time. Great folks here.

Thank you!

Perhaps I wont find anyone whose been through the interview process here already. But I want to ask couple questions anyway.

First, Will we need to bring additional proof of marriage if it wasnt requested?

Second,  Will they do the antibody titers blood tests at the appointed medical check-up place or should we get them done before going there?

I never understand the logic of assigning case #s etc within 2 weeks but making those who need CC wait month+. Not like we've been at NVC stage for 6 months already!!!

Called last night took 30mins to get through and waited 1 hour+ on the phone only to hear the 60day bs.

Sorry i was not clear enough.  CC was this morning just before I called at 6:45 pacific time.  last scan date was july 3rd.  for AOS check list.

Very nice! Waiting for CC has been the worst part of this whole process, including USCIS part!!!

Congrats again!

What does it mean when they tell you your documents are under review?

It could mean anything. Either scanned and just sitting in the system, or someone is actually doing the action of reviewing it.

US Citizenship General Discussionn-400, Detained
Good morning and thank you in advance for your help.
I am currently preparing my n-400 application for naturalization, and got to Part 10, Section D (Good moral Character), question 16: "Have you ever been arrested, cited or detained by any law enforcement officer..."
In 2006, I accompanied a friend of mine to a small town near the border with Tijuana, but because I had at that time only a work permit that did not allow me to leave the country, I chose to wait for her until she returns.
I went for a walk, and one police officer stopped next to me (he was in his patroll car) and asked me to answer some questions (name, what I was doing there, etc). Then, after requesting my documents and emptying my pockets, he requested backup. They (when the other officer arrived) took me pictures and then let me go, without any further explanation. They never told me why I was detained. No citations, warnings...
Should I answer Yes to this question and mention the incident?

Thanks again!

US Citizenship General Discussionn-400 - Marriage
Good morning,
I met my ex-wife in 2004, and after a while, got married in May, 2006, but things did not work out, and we ended up getting an amicable divorce in December, 2010.
Prior to my marriage, I was waiting for a H1-B visa, which was ultimately denied after I got married.
Because I was married to her in good faith, I was granted permanent residency in May 2007, and even the conditions were removed two year later. We provided photos, affidavits, bank statements and all those.
Now, I am applying for naturalization based on having more than 5 years of holding a GC, but I am afraid that my prior (and only) marriage can be seen as fraudulent, which it was NOT.
Do I need to worry about this?

Thank you for your suggestions/comments!

United KingdomDriving in US

I'm in Culpeper. Between Charlottesville and Fredericksburg if you aren't familiar with the town.

I have a few friends who go to VCU in charlottesville and my fiancee has family close to Roanoak :)

Its a beautiful area around shenandoah isn't it?

You are correct :) Good eye! It's a beautiful national park. About an hours drive from where we lived.

Where abouts are you in VA?
tonyeckMaleUnited Kingdom2007-02-12 09:07:00

I left my car in the US while I finish up my degree in the UK (I'm the UK Citizen)

I miss my car so much and had a ball with it while I was in the US for 18 months. To get my license; I know in VA they require a social security number, proof of residency (bank account, pay slip I know are guaranteed) plus at least 3 proofs of identity - which can include bank account, passport, visa, social security card etc.

I wonder if I will have to do the driving test again when I return? I hope not! Although it was rediculously easy!

I do agree with the advice about the VWP. Take advantage and then decide if its the right thing to do!

United KingdomNot engaged/married but looking to move to upstate NY
You say the main reason you want to move is to with your girlfriend, and that really only leaves the fiancee/marriage option.

The best option is, in your case, probably going to be the K-1 visa however you must make sure you are both comfortable and ready to commit this far. Its a pcoess that can take anywhere from 4 months to over a year (all depending on visa service centers (although if filing from NY you will have Vermont which is usually quicker) and the country of the beneficiary (Although I guess UK in your case being in this forum :)).

There are tons of resources and knowledge on this site, plenty of step by step guides I recommend reading to make sure this is the right step forward. Just check out the quide section and have a read of the K-1 process and checklist. It sounds like you are already collecting evidence, which is a good thing :) so, so far no real problems. Make sure you have enough evidence of support (money basically, check out the guides on this site for more) or co-support and make sure you have things like divorce papers if applicable etc

Good luck!

United KingdomProof of ongoing relationship for interview
I'm a little concerned about this too. As we are currently living together, we no longer get any utility bills (all paid for upfront), we obviously don't email, we do call, but the phone contract is under our name....

Gonna start getting parents and friends to send us mail addressed to both of us!

Has anyone had experience of having the petitioner with them at the interview? Does this provide any benefits?

Have a great and safe journey!

Speaking of Road Trips, me and my fiancee were reminiscing about our road trip in August/September 2006. We travelled from Virginia (through Ohio ;)) all the way to California and then back - totalling 8500 miles or so. Best experience of our lives.
