United KingdomWait Time for Appointment Letter (London Embassy)

We've been done with the medical since the 12th of this month. And all necessary paperwork has been submitted. We haven't paid for the visa yet, but I've read that paying in advance doesn't do anything to speed up the interview date.

United KingdomWait Time for Appointment Letter (London Embassy)

Hello everyone, hope you guys are having a very blessed day =]

I was just wondering if anyone could direct me to a timeline on the waiting period for receiving "packet 4" aka the appointment letter. I'm not even sure if there is such a timeline lol. But anyhow, if anyone can provide insight as to how long it's taking to receive the appointment letter at this time of the year I'd be very grateful. Our status on the CEAC website has said "ready" since September 18th. Everything has been completed and sent off already, including the medical, forms mailed and DS-260 completed.

Thanks

Thanks for the reply. I'll be sure to tell my fiancee to take some photos of us on interview day. I've been quite thorough with paperwork thankfully.

I'm not sure where the best place to add this will be... but I've seen where others have posted you don't need photos/etc and London doesn't care. Well, Steven had his interview today (approved) and they DID go through that as well as our photo album. So just a heads up that it might be better to be safe than sorry. I've also seen where other folks had their papers go missing and had to reprint/etc, so he took copies of that too.

Very happy for you guys, congrats! In regard to the photos, are you referring to the ones originally included with the I-129F?

United KingdomAfter Visa "Issued" CEAC Question

You've been assigned a tracking number?  How did you find this out?

Well we checked the visa info website and found out about the tracking details. It's the same site you should have used to pay the visa fee.

Their web address is: https://ais.usvisa-info.com/en-gb/iv

Mine went issued, then stayed there, next thing was e mail with courier tracking number on it.

How long after it changed to issued did you receive the tracking number? Is it from the embassy or courier?

Quick question regarding the DS-260. Must it be completed by the applicant or the petitioner? I'm assuming it's my fiancee in the UK.

Thanks!

We were approved on 02/07, received an email that it had been shipped to NVC on 02/13.  I'll give it a week from yesterday, before I start calling.

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresExpedited K-3 Visa

Rick,

All you can do is ask.  Be sure to properly articulate and document the reasons you believe you qualify for an expedite.

Does your wife have sole custody of her daughter?  Or will the father give permission for her to leave the country?  My wife's ex had been absent for six years, never paid a dime of support, or had any contact with my step son, but we still had to go through the courts in Ukraine, for my wife to be awarded sole custody.  Your step daughter (if she is a minor) will not be able to get a visa unless your wife has sole custody, or the permission of the other parent to leave the country.

Heard good things about https://transferwise.com/en

That looks like a good rate, I've always used the Post Office as they charge no fee but you get more for your money with these even with the fee.

Hey I live in Azle and my office is in White Settlement, so from Haltom City, we are only 15 mins apart :) Fort Worth is awesome - You will love it here. Feel free to email (knbasye@gmail.com) me or facebook (Kat Nicholl-Basye) me if you would like a friend when you get here. I know how tough it is initially not knowing anybody ;)

Awesome!!! Thanks for that, will add you on Facebook :D (I'm Melanie Benson)

The British Emporium is actually in Grapevine, Texas :) It is good for buying those things that you really just can't live without, but be aware that it is very pricey. They are extremely proud of their products! As a side note, watch the expiration dates on some of the shelved products too (speaking from experience, out of date monster munch are really gross ;))

Collie, whereabouts in Fort Worth are you?  That's where I'm gonna be, when I eventually get there :D  Initially will be living in Haltom City.

United KingdomHave you used Transferwire to move funds from US to UK?

I have used Transferwise from UK to US but not the other way around, I was looking into it and it seems there is a charge to do it that way so it might be worth looking at other options.

The car. You should have brought it with you. Stopped paying the lease and see how for the finance company would go to get it back.  :)

Lol!!!!  I wouldn't be able to live with myself if I did, as much as I love my little car!

United KingdomDecluttering Before Moving to the US

Most of my clothes are already with hubby, everytime I've visited I've left some behind, I have very little left here, fine for winter clothes but summer, if we ever have one, is gonna be difficult!

Other than that I'll just mainly be whatever clothes/shoes I have left here, a a few cds (I loaded a lot of them onto my laptop and Music Magpie'd them), a few DVDs (Music Magpie'd/sold privately the rest), any important paperwork I might need (I guess medical/dental records), and just some memories of home photos etc.  I'm living with my parents so don't have any furniture to get rid of.

My dad loaned me the money to pay off my car finance in January (I had it on a lease to buy option) and I will sell it either back to the garage where I got it from or to webuyanycar (other brands are available) and pay my dad back what's left on the loan.

United KingdomLondon overnight stay recs? How long til visa in hand?

I looked up the embassy holidays, and because it is USA embassy, it says they are off. I would be very glad if they still process visas that day, but I doubt it. hopefully they process our visa on the day after our interview.. The 3rd, then ship it before the embassy is closed.. The courier is inside embassy.. So not sure if it gets a holiday too. Lots of unknowns .

Ah yes, never thought about that!

United KingdomOne way ticket

Planes will land at an international gate/terminal if a trip through immigration is required. Otherwise they will land at a domestic type gate. Everybody who got on the plane in Dublin was already cleared, so they are basically like a domestic flight for arrival.

Ok, gotcha!  Thanks Nich-Nich :D

So just curious, if you've done your POE in Dublin and then say you had a layover in Chicago before your final destination how do you get through Border Control in Chicago? Or do you just enter the airport directly from Dublin like you would if you were flying domestic in the US?

Completed my medical today, very simple and quite painless, although the doc was a bit rough taking bloods ... Had surgery a month ago, I just took a doctors report and that was sufficient.

Got a response from the Knightsbridge Doctors, which just clarifies what you guys have advised ....

Good morning Melanie,

You will need to have a report from your GP or specialist explain why the procedure is taken place and a prognosis for the future as this will  need to go into the medical report.

Kind regards,

United KingdomLondon Medical - Knightsbridge Doctors

Anytime you reveal a medical condition on the questionnaire, the doctors at Knightsbridge will want further information from your personal doctors explaining the condition/disease/surgery/medication... whatever is the case. If you take it in with you, you may not have to wait on it after before they will release your results to the embassy.

Candy, my fiance, just had a successful medical exam in the Philippines.  She is presently on medication for high blood pressure.  When the panel doctor asked her about any medical conditions, Candy told her about this and was ready with the name of the doctor who is treating her, the name of the medication she is on, and her own blood pressure readings (she had to get a home monitor and check it every day).  The panel doctor then checked it herself and told her to keep up with her doctor's advice as it appears to be working well.  That was the end of it.

A medical conditon that is not contagious will not hurt you but failing to tell the panel doctor all about it just might.

When I got my GP to write a letter for me for my DVT and thrombophilia, he kindly included copies of correspondence from a few different consultants at the hospital I was treated in. My letter from the GP is dated Jan 2014 though, so I won't be surprised if Knightsbridge want something more recent from him.

Thank you, so basically I just need to get myself prepared with information to take with me.  Was just worried that this might affect my medical.

United KingdomLondon Medical - Knightsbridge Doctors

I have a question ... I have been told today that I need surgery to correct a kidney problem, the investigations have been going on for some months now and finally they have told me the only way to sort it is with surgery which should happen in the next couple of months, however, we are nearing the point of Case Complete with NVC and so the next thing would be scheduling the medical once we have an interview date, does anyone know how this is likely to affect my medical?  Will have I have to take some sort of paperwork with me to show that the problem is/has been corrected?

He just got his non impediment about a week ago and he's getting the police certificate end of this month, as he already payed for it and dropped off the receipt. Everything underway and going very smoothly right now.

I, too, am glad we are still together. We love each other, and thankfully I am self employed so I can travel as often as I want. Since I have met him, I haven't been away from him for more then 2 months at a time but mostly see him every 4-6 weeks. I will be with him when he goes for his interview. His mom doesn't live far from Kingston, so we'll be anxiously waiting.

I appreciate those on here who are willing to help and also cheer others on who are going for their interview and congratulate those who are approved but also show support for those who are refused or denied. Although we don't know each other, it sometimes feels like one big family

That's what we remember from last year but weren't 100%. My fiance lives in Negril, having the medical done in Mobay. The plan is to pick up the report when it's ready and have it sent by DHL, since it's free for registered users. I checked the DHL website and if we have the report to the office by 10:30, it should be in Kingston by the end of the same day.

Right now I am hoping we aren't one of the current horror stories that it take a month to receive the visa. I saw one that was a 4 day issue. Although I'm seriously doubting we could be that lucky, just want a normal outcome after having to wait an extra year already.

Can anyone remind me how long it takes to get you medical back after your appt? My fiance was refused last year for marijuana but is becoming eligible again Aug 1. The embassy gave him another interview Aug 8. Aug 1 is a holiday in Jamaica, so the soonest he can get his medical done is Aug 4. If he's approved pending his medical report what will happen? What is the current timeline Jamaica is running to receive your visa?

You can actually get a police record in one day, but its more expensive. He's also going to need a non impediment form from the Registrars General office and it takes a week as well.

In regards to the interview letter, they sent ours by mail last year. He was deemed ineligible for a year. We just got another interview by email. I don't know if they've change their system or its just our particular circumstance.

Best of luck! You can't do all this by yourself

CaribbeanHas any Jamaican's received their Passports within the last month.

I've been keeping track of the most recent approvals timelines and one that got approved June 16 got their visa in 4 days. I sent the member and email asking what their secret was and have yet to get a response.

Praying everyone gets theirs soon as my fiance's interview coming up in 30 days and hoping he gets his visa by the end of Aug, first of Sept.

I spoke with the manager of the company I used to fill out my documents and he said it doesn't take a lot of time to print a visa so he doesn't understand what the hold up is for Jamaica.
