CanadaInterview Done No Passport/VISA yet

oops! Totally not clear - I meant the phone number to call to see if they were sent out. I'm worried that since I had to get a new passport, that the one they are sending isn't the same number that I used to imput my file at the CSC website. It's not late yet, but I need to have it by friday so I can POE on the weekend! Thanks!

If you mean DOS, call this number

DOS is Department of State - 1 202 663 1225
Press Option 1 then Option 0

although i called just thursday of last week and they said nothing has been issued. The actual visa states when it was issued and for me , it was the Monday AFTER our interview.

I don't know if their info is as updated as we would like it be :)

CanadaInterview Done No Passport/VISA yet

Hi everyone, I had my interview for K1 Visa in Montreal on Oct 22nd and signed up for DHL but still have not seen any tracking number. I called the number that is listed on the website and they said Montreal has not shipped yet as once they ship it will list on website. DHL has not called me either and I called DHL and they said without a tracking number they can't do a search but that if the package arrives at the DHL depot that someone will call from DHL when it is ready for pickup. The lady that interviewed me at the Consulate gave me a letter and it says it can take 10 days. Anyone out there in the same boat? Please reply.

Wait a second here, your letter says 10 days?? Mine said 4, Is the headlined with RECEIVING YOUR PASSPORT AND IMMIGRATION PACKAGES BY MAIL ?

the letter they gave me said "Congradulations, your fiance visa has been approved and is ready to be issued etc...............

What does your say if you don't mind me asking??

I think we'll see them this week. :)

Where in Canada could it possibly be between 65 and 85 degrees year round? Is this person being sarcastic?

Maybe he is speaking in Farenheit... That would make more sense , 65 degrees would equal to roughly 18 i believe :D

CanadaOctober K-1 interviews in Montréal!

It's not October yet, but we're the first group to schedule our own! Yay! We like that we could choose the date that worked best for our schedules and plans.

I've got some questions for the first of the October interviewees. These are both from the info you get when logged into http://canada.usvisa-info.com/ on the "View Visa Information" page.

1. Please arrive on time, but not earlier than 20 minutes before the scheduled appointment time.

No more waiting out in the cold on the left with no overhang at 06:30? First people in October, please report back whether this is so. Thanks!

2. Accompanying Persons

The following persons may accompany a visa applicant during his or her visit to the Consular Section:

  • Interpreters: An applicant may bring one interpreter if he does not speak English (or French if applying in Montreal or Quebec City) well enough to participate unassisted in the visa interview.
  • Special Needs Assistants: An applicant may bring one person to assist him if he is elderly, disabled, or a minor child.
The following persons may not be allowed into the U.S. Consular Section premises:
  • Attorneys: An applicant may not be accompanied by his or her attorney(s).
  • Drivers, friends, extra relatives, and others not specifically named above cannot be permitted to enter and will be asked to return to meet the applicant after the interview is complete.
  • Due to the limited size of the Consular Section waiting rooms, the high volume of visa applicants, and the time required to screen consular clients, other accompanying persons cannot and will not be admitted to the Consular Section.

Seriously? Does this include US Citizens, no longer allowed to accompany visa applicants? I so hope that's not true! :(

My letter stated that US citizen are allowed to accompany you. I don't see how they could deny a US citizen from entering their own consulate. Are you sure it's not in yours??

CanadaFederal income tax return

Tim did order transcripts, but we're not sure he'll get it before my interview date. So he's bringing along his last year's tax return. He has other supporting documents as well for the Affadavit.

MSR: Did you have the tax return, transcripts, or both?

Thanks for your replies. :)

both, but it wasn't necessary at all

If he calls the IRS and has access to a fax machine, they will fax them right away.

CanadaFederal income tax return

Tim is wondering if he needs to have his income tax return notarized, as supporting evidence for the I-134 Affadavit of Support. I thought I'd read that somewhere in here, but can't find it now. If it needs to be notarized, who could do it for him?

Hey Tim and Erin,

No, the income tax return does not have to be notarized. I just had my interview a few weeks ago, and not one of our supporting documents was notarized.

Good luck on your upcoming interview!!!

CanadaA P3 "Next-steps" checklist
Excellent info!!

wonder if you can have it pinned so others can make use of it?
MSRFemaleCanada2010-11-09 18:05:00
CanadaIs my interview checklist ok?

So, printing out the entire DS-160 is just a matter of going back to the online site and logging in and printing it? I mean, I figured once I'd printed out the confirmation page that I was done with it...and maybe couldn't access it again. :( Do I just log in again and it will give me the option to print? (Grrr...now I'll need to impose on someone again to use their printer, as I don't have one.)

I do have a letter of intent from myself that I printed out before I realized the consulate only required one from the petitioner. I never threw it away, so I'll add it to my folder just in case. And I'll have Tim redate his, because I believe I read that it has to be dated and signed within so many (?) days of the interview.

I also forgot to mention in my first post that I do have proof of ongoing relationship in the form of pictures, a few phone bills, and boarding passes from my last few trips to visit Tim. (I was lucky enough to be able to spend about 6 months out of the past year with him.) :)

Just holler if you guys think I'm good to go.

P.S. to Inky: I wonder why you were told that? After all, the USCIS website states that they only need the confirmation page.

When i had my interview, a little under a month ago, i found out my daughter had to have one too. The lady told us to go to the waiting room and use the computer there or go find an internet cafe to do it. The computer in the waiting room , while a good resource, doesn't have a scanner connected ( for obvious reasons) so uploading a photo was out of the question.
In the end, we filled out the DS 156 & DS 156 k for my daughter as instructed by our interviewer and we were ok
MSRFemaleCanada2010-11-16 09:49:00
CanadaIs my interview checklist ok?

I did a quick search and found this on the USCIS website:

Please note that after you have completed the DS-160, you need to take these next steps:

* Print and keep the DS-160 barcode page. (You will not need to print the full application.)

So I don't know why MSR was asked for both the application AND the barcode confirmation printout.

Yes, I have U.S. cash...all crisp and new too! :P

I didn't forget the medical results. I'll be picking that up at Medisys early in the morning of my interview, then RUNNING over to the consulate.

As for the vaccination results...I gave Medisys the results of the titres test I had done awhile back, since I didn't have access to a vaccination record from school. Nobody questioned it. So I'm assuming that whatever Medisys has in my records/results envelope will be accepted at the consulate.

Thanks for the tip about the cafe. I know I read about it recently in someone's post. Was that you jadenjewel? I also believe I spotted that cafe when I was taking a virtual walk with vpike.com around the area of the Montreal embassy. :D

I'm not sure why i was asked for it, but if you don't have it, print out that info from USCIS you found and bring it with you to the interview, JUST IN CASE you are asked for it.
You'll have something to back you up if you are. :)
MSRFemaleCanada2010-11-16 09:14:00
CanadaIs my interview checklist ok?

Ok, starting to get really nervous now, as my interview is fast approaching (Nov. 23). Here's what I've gathered up. I'd love to get some reassurance from others who've already had their interviews, that what I have is sufficient. Otherwise, I won't sleep for the next few days. :P

- passport
- email confirmation of interview date (2 copies, just in case)
- money for interview fee (is it still $350?)
- original and copy of long form birth certificate
- police check (2 copies)
- confirmation printout of DS-160
- photocopy of biographic page of passport
- 2 passport photos
- originals and copies of both our divorce certificates
- letter of intent to marry from petitioner
- I-134 Affadavit of Support (Tim is bringing it to me, along with supporting documents)
- supporting documents for I-134:
Employment verification letter from Tim's employer
Employee History Income Report
Bank statement
Copy of last year's income tax

I'm bringing two copies of everything, just in case.

Gee, it seems like it was a long time ago when I first joined VJ and was reading someone else's list. It seemed so overwhelming to me at the time. Well I'm still overwhelmed right now...and very nervous. If someone just tells me I've got everything, then I can relax. If I've missed anything, chime right in....... :)

Don't forget your medical!! Also, I was asked for the DS 160 AND the DS 160 Confirmation page.
I just remembered that the $350.00 should be in cash. I used US funds just in case.

Good Luck!!

Just an update to my earlier post...

I checked the website last night before going to bed...nothing. This morning I woke up and I checked again and it was already delivered to Halifax! According to the tracking stuff, it was picked up yesterday afternoon and was sent overnight. Clearly, DHL is super quick and is delivering these things overnight though how quickly they are processed by the consulate in Montreal is less certain.

Good luck everyone!
