IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresDONE WITH OUR MEDICAL
Thank God for another guidance that He gave us. Thank you Ann, Aida, Pia, Eloisa for the prayers and supoort smile.gif
Done with me and my son's medical! kicking.gif Allowed to take the Medical eventhough we have no Appointment Letter yet. Just explained to them that my interview is on the first week of March and i haven't recieved any Letter. If i will wait for the letter it might be a rush for has to take the medical and it might fall on my son's Fourth Quarter Examination. We took our two day medical last Feb. 19-20. I brought all of the necessary documents that might be needed or asked by the Physicians. My Imminization Record and Certificate from my OB-Gyne. Medical Records and Certificate from the Hospital because i just gave birth last Nov 2008 on a Ceasarian Delivery. Asked my son's Pedia of his Immunization Record and Certificate. I also brought my Prenatal book and the Record of my son which showed his 9mos treatment of Primary Complex. I have it photocopied the night before our medical, 3 copies for each. I also prepared our passport, 2x2 pics white background with printed name at the back. Just to be sure, bring 4 copies. Because my son was asked for 4 pics and 3 pis for me. I placed it all on a Clear Book to be Organized. It was so tiring on the first day because of the procedure and examination that was given. So nervous on the second day, thinking of our xray result. But when we came there, the guard stamped our receipt with "FOR IMMUNIZATION" I'm so happy because that means our xray result is fine. Actually i was so scared of my son's xray because he had a history of Primary complex. But it was already treated. Started the 6 months treatment last March 2008 and finished it last Sept 2008. His pedia told me to extend the treatment until Dec of 2008 to make sure that his lungs will be clear. We arrived there at 9:30am. Called our name at the immunization room at 11:00am. Waited for the result at the Releasing Area, ground floor. Got mine at 1pm. My son's result at 2:45pm.
Oopps... by the way. I finally get to meet Ishom and Rose of Visa Journey. They are so nice and friendly smile.gif
We are just now waiting for our scheduled interview.
Goodluck to us...Thank God for anther guidance that He gave us. Thank you Ann, Aida, Pia, Eloisa for the prayers and supoort smile.gif

I had my visa interview this morning and was told those 5 magical words.."Your visa has been approved."
The interview was really smooth--from the time I went in the embassy until I left. In fact, I just breezed through it. They didn't ask me for ANY document at all. No CENOMAR, BC, MC, NBI--NOTHING! Not even evidence. It was all the work of God.

Thank you so much for all your help here.

To God Be The Glory!

Hi! Congratulations smile.gif We got the same interview date. Mine was scheduled at 8:30 but i was already inside at around 6:30. Favorite color of the day... PINK! Yehey kicking.gif

My Case is already complete dated January 7, 2009. Under the IR1 visa category. MY husband just received a letter today from the NVC that is addressed to my name. What does it mean? Please simplify this letter to me. Does anyone who is in the same category as mine recieved this kind of letter? One more thing, we have a son that is also petitioned by my husband, our son is under the IR2 visa category. Thanks smile.gif

Dear MY NAME:

Your inquiry has been sent at the NVC. The Immigration and Nationality (INA) does not allow derivative status to family members of immediate relatives. IR1, CR1, CR2, IR2 and IR5 classifications are immediate relative visa categories. This mean that a spouse, unmarried child under age of 21 and a parent of a US Citizen require their own individual petition in order to immigrate to the US.

Welcome to the waiting room smile.gif...actually, my fiance received NVC last December 27 bcoz I was approved December 10...but until now, I havent received any from manilaembassy...that NVC letter contains only your MNL number, it doesnt contain medical sched nor interview...call this number 1-909-101-7878 to ask about your case...I havent called yet bcoz im still waiting for my fiance papers. By the way, ask your NOA2 and NVC letter from your husband, you can use that for medical if in case you cant wait for your packet3 to arrive....and dont forget also to ask from your husband the important documents needed on your medical and interview...do it now if still u havent yet. It means that your husband only petitioned you but not your kids. He should file separate a i-130 for you and each of the kids.

As what Ryandgracey was asking: "Was there a DS230 filed for your son too? Is the boy just yours or is he your husband's as well? "

It is because if the petitioner is not the biological father, then the wife should come to the US first and then petition the kids. If he is the biological father then yeah he should file separate I-130 for the wife and the kids.

my husband petitioned us. me and my 6 year old son. im working on our baby's crba right now. my husband did file separate i130. one for me and one for our son. my husband is the biological father of my 2 boys, my 6 year old son and 2 month old baby.

Did you contact NVC about moving a family member to the US with you?

I believe that all it's saying is that IF you decide to try to bring a family member to the US, they have to file for their own visa. They won't be granted entry/immigration into the US just because YOUR visa peition was approved.

That's what I'm getting from the letter anyway...Anybody else seeing something different here?

i did contact the nvc last jan 7, about a week after they received my ds230 and requirements. i just asked them the status of my petition. they told me that my case was complete and just have to wait for the schedule of my interview. thats all. i didnt aksed them about miving a family member to the US with me.

Was there a DS230 filed for your son too? Is the boy just yours or is he your husband's as well?

yes there was a DS230 filed for our son, i also submitted the required documents for my son together with his DS230. When my husband filed my petition, he also did file for our son. Whenever my husband recieved a letter for me, the following day or week is also a letter for my son from the nvc. my son is in IR2 visa category. Is it automatic if my case got complete, my son's case is also complete?

Hello everyone? Just need to ask those who had already submitted their ds230 and those who are done with the process.... do we need to send both police clearance and NBI clearance? I was reading through the documents required to go with the DS230 and it says police clearance from all the municipality where the benifciary had lived since age 16 but I'm also reading some posts that both NBI and police clearance were submitted. Does NVC require both or a Police Clearance will be sufficient? helpsmilie.gif Thanks!

hi pretty_wahine09!

when is your interview at the USEM?
my case was approved on january 2 and my interview is on the 5th of march (at 6:30 am!)

i haven't gone for my medical examination, though
my husband and i are still waiting for my mother-in-law to mail the letter to us (which she just received the other day)
and we don't have any e-mail from NVC to print

Hi! smile.gif We ( my son and me) are done with the Medical examination eventhough i haven't recieved yet my appointment letter. Because im so scared that my medical exam will be into rush if i will wait for the Appointment letter and might fall on my son's fourth quarter examination in school. You can go and take the medical even without the letter. Just explaine it to them. No required letter to be shown, just be sure that you know ur case number.
Goodluck on ur medical and Interview! smile.gif

PhilippinesDONE WITH THE MEDICAL
Thank God for another guidance that He gave us. Thank you Ann, Aida, Pia, Eloisa for the prayers and supoort
Done with me and my son's medical! Allowed to take the Medical eventhough we have no Appointment Letter yet.
They are so nice and friendly
We are just now waiting for our scheduled interview.
Goodluck to us....Ishom, Rose and Dhumanmagenta Thank you also for the prayers and support.

The CO just want to make sure you know you Fiancee well, where he lives, address changes and ect.

Hi! I have question regarding on what to say when the Consul asked for the Address of the Petitioner. My husband just moved to a new house last January 31, 2008. What am i supposed to tell the Consul? The old address that was written in the DS230 form or the new address of my husband? I'm just so confused... sad.gif

PhilippinesMy USEM Immigrant Visa Interview Experience
QUOTE (neenuh @ Mar 6 2009, 12:42 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Hello, everyone! I posted this earlier in the US Embassy and Consulate General Discussion, but I think it's more appropriate to post this here. I'm hoping someone deletes that other post...

Anyway, after some 500 and so days, my son and I finally got approved with our immgrant visas, and I couldn't be happier!
Here's pretty much everything that happened earlier during our interview:

5:30 am - My husband, my son and I arrived at the USEM. We were scheduled at 6:30am. There were probably about 20 or so people ahead of us who were already queud in the waiting area when we finally went through the security guard who had to verify our appointment in his list.

6:00am - The USEM employees began allowing people to enter the building. We went through the routinary inspection, walked to the immigration visa unit and were told to sit and wait to get our ticket number.

7:00am - My son and I were called to Window 16 for fingerprint scanning. I was told my son didn't have to go through it, and when I was done, we were told to sit again and wait for our number to be called for the pre-screening

7:30am - We were called to Window 19. I had a male pre-screener. He was really kind and polite. He asked me to fill out some parts in our DS-230 and to sign that portion of the DS-230 Part 2 that was left blank. He asked me if my son was born out of wedlock and if I was ever married to my son's father, and I said no. He asked if I ever submitted a CENMAR and I said no, however I told him I had one with me and he asked for it. He asked me who my husband is, where we met, when we first met, how many times he's visited, when his last visit was. He also asked what my husband did for a living, and I told him he's currently unemployed. He started going through our I-864s and he said it wasn't a problem, since we have a joint sponsor.

While the pre-screener was flipping through the I-864 we sent to the NVC, he asked me who the joint sponsor was and my relationship with them. However, my joint sponsor failed to submit a more recent income tax return. He asked me for some attachments, and I said we don't have any. I told him that we have another joint sponsor, and I then presented everything to him, together with the copies of the 2007 income tax, W2 from 2007, and the form I-864A (since taxes were filed together). He said that my second joint sponsor's documents were sufficient. He also asked if they filled out for my son, and I said yes. He went through them once again, and then told me that my second joint sponsor's stuff was what he was going to file for the final interview instead.

The whole time my son was just standing next to me. The only thing the pre-screener asked my 13 year old son was his birth date.

Finally he asked for our family photos (I gave him about 80 prints!), greeting cards, and some remittance receipts. And then he asked if we have ever been to the United States or if this was the first time for us to travel there. Then he told us to go back to our seats and to wait for the final interview with the consul officer.

8:30am - after one hour of waiting, we were finally called to Window 32 for our final interview with the consul officer. He was this middle-aged, white guy. He was wearing eyeglasses. He greeted me and my son, told us to sit, and asked me to take the oath.

He was pleasant, however, he had a terrible cough. He was coughing non-stop on his head set, and it was really loud! I could tell he was having a hard time, his nose was stuffy and he would cough like every 5-10 seconds. Poor guy. There were moments of silence as he would go through our stuff and type on his computer, and then he would cough again.

So, anyway. He asked the same things the pre-screener asked. Further, he asked about the other jobs my husband had before he became unemployed, why he's unemployed, about my husband's disability, our plans when we get to the United States, and where we plan to stay. He asked how my husband supports us if he's unemployed, and I told him through my husband's SSA payments. He asked if I knew how much he was getting and I told him.

After all that questioning, he went through our photos briefly, and began typing some more stuff on the computer. I was kind of worried because he wasn't saying anything at all. He then returned the photos, greeting cards, and remittance receipts back to me. Finally, with these two huge stamps, he stamped on our stuff and said, "This is it, ma'am. I have approved your visas." And I was like, "Really?! Thank you very much, sir!" He told us to sit again outside and to wait for further instructions for the releasing and paying for the visa delivery fee. He wished me and my son good luck on our move to the United States and with getting employed there.

I think we were in the cubicle for about 30 minutes. I bet we would have been done a lot sooner, but the consul officer's cough kept interrupting us. He had to stop a couple of times with what he was doing because he just couldn't stop coughing! I felt bad for him. And it sounded like he had asthma.

After about ten minutes, we were called to the releasing window. This lady handed me our appoinment letter and stapled two pink slips on them. She told us to pay for our visa delivery fee and to go home and wait. I asked what the pink slip meant, and she said she's not authorized to disclose that kind of information :-P

9:30am - Paid our visa delivery fees, and we were done like a champ!

So, now we wait some more. But at least the difficult part is over. I want to thank everyone here in VJ for all your help, especially to edp333, ryandgracey, and pretty_wahine09. My husband and I couldn't have done it without everyone's input and knowledge.

Btw, goodluck to pretty_wahine09 on your interview later :-)

Thank you neenuh smile.gif Favorite color of the day... PINK! Got Pink Slip too kicking.gif

My visa, as well as my son's, arrived today! YEAH! kicking.gif

I was wondering, though, when he had his medical examination, his TST result came out positive. He had an x-ray taken, and was still immunized.
Obviously, he was cleared as he now has his visa.
So now, in my son's visa, the annotation at the bottom says, "Class A or B (TB) Req ATTN of USPHS at POE" (which will be SFO)
What does this mean? Has anyone experienced a similar situation with their children?

Congratulations neenuh! Another reason to celebrate smile.gif I'm also waiting for our visa to arrive and i also expect my son's visa to have that annotation too because when we are called at the releasing area in SLEC, the Lady asked me to double cheked our address in the states in a White Legal Envelope with USPHS marked on it. My son had a history of Primary Complex, but is already treated for 6 mos and extension of another 3 mos for his lungs to be totally cleared. Son didn't go for a TST, immediately had his xray taken (-), and immunized.
Asked ryandgracey of visa journey... She will surely answer your questions and doubts smile.gif

Hi congrats, soon reunite with your husband.. God answer's all prayer.... Did the consul asked from you NBI, and POLICE CLEARANCE?

Thank you smile.gif The Consul did not asked anything from me. It was the pre screener who asked for my Cenomar, PIctures, Remittance, anything that will prove your ongoing relationship. Then the pre screener gave it to the Consul.
